Eighty Percent Agree with the President on Sanctuary cities

Poll: Americans overwhelmingly oppose sanctuary cities

An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that cities that arrest illegal immigrants for crimes should be required to turn them over to federal authorities.
The poll shows that President Trump has broad public support in his effort to crack down on sanctuary cities.
A survey from Harvard–Harris Poll provided exclusively to The Hill found that 80 percent of voters say local authorities should have to comply with the law by reporting to federal agents the illegal immigrants they come into contact with.
Other findings were that by small margins voters approve of the travel ban that has been suspended, as well as his executive order that green lighted building a wall, hiring more border agents, and revoking money to sanctuary cities.

Of all of the individual proposals, the building of the wall seems to gain the least amount of support (opposed by 53-47). I wonder out loud if that number could be moved by focusing on the wall cutting back on the drug trade, rather than the current focus on illegal immigration movement.

Another step back to the stone ages....Maybe you should look up the polls for this major issue plaguing the US we know what happened in NC a red state.........WASHINGTON — President Trump could issue new guidelines as early as Wednesday to rescind anti-discrimination protections for transgender students, overruling his education secretary who had pushed to keep them in place.

opie said...

Washington (CNN)Americans broadly oppose laws that would require transgender people to use facilities that correspond with their gender at birth rather than their gender identity, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll, and three-quarters favor laws guaranteeing equal protection for transgender individuals.

Overall, 57% say they oppose laws requiring transgender individuals to use facilities that do not match their gender identity, 38% support such laws

Seems to me another colossal waste of time and resources which will divid the country again. Stupid, but his base being the christians they all are, think discrimination is a righteous thing to do.

The politics of the illegal immigration debate, for now, come down to two words: mass deportation.

Whether that’s accurate or hyperbole is what we may be talking about for some time, given Tuesday’s actions by the administration of President Trump.

Good morning from the state capital. I’m Sacramento Bureau Chief John Myers, and from California to the East Coast and beyond, the biggest story right now is what kind of immigration crackdown is on the horizon and the effect on as many as 11 million people.

TRUMP WANTS ‘TO TAKE THE SHACKLES OFF’ ENFORCEMENT

The action taken certainly appeared to be bold. As Brian Bennett and Del Quentin Wilber report, Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly issued two directives that are significant shifts in the approach to many of those living in the U.S. illegally.

As they write, “Though Kelly emphasized that immigration officers should focus first on deporting convicted criminals or those charged with crimes, his directives nonetheless unleashed deportation officers to conduct more raids in immigrant communities, detain people who don’t have criminal convictions and remove people for minor infractions such as driving without a license.”

Sean Spicer, Trump’s press secretary, disputed any notion that these policies would lead to mass deportations.

“The president wanted to take the shackles off individuals in these agencies,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

opie said...

Roger....note the silence of the rat ignoring this deportation scheme, something he embraced like the chickenshit he is???? It's going to happen, and we all will pay........

C.H. Truth said...

So taking the shackles off border agents is considered a "bad thing" that will cause us "all to pay"?

Wow... never would have thought we would come to a day when an entire political Party would openly:

1) want to see laws broken and not enforced
2) want to see wanted felons protected from federal agents
3) sue for the rights of corporations to hire H1 Visa employees for less money than Americans

But the first month of El Basura is a disaster for him. Obama's Care is more popular than the garbage President.

he Affordable Care Act is enjoying a surge of popularity, especially as Republicans founder on finding a replacement and the public realizes that repeal could mean loss of health insurance for 20 million Americans.

NBC/Survey Monkey, in its survey of 11,512 Americans, conducted Feb. 13-19, found that approval for the Affordable Care Act (aka. Obamacare) has climbed to 52 percent, while disapproval has fallen to 45 percent.

The NBC/Survey Monkey findings are in line with a Gallup Poll released over the weekend marking the one-month office of Trump taking office.

Just 40 percent approved of Trump's job performance in the Gallup survey, while 55 percent disapproved. The poll came at the end of a tumultuous week at the White House, although the President claimed in a 77-minute news conference that all was going well.

The President's approval figure, in the Gallup survey, was 21 percent below the historic average of newly inaugurated American presidents, and 11 points below the lowest on record. Both President Barack Obama and George W. Bush were above 60 percent at this time in their presidencies.

NBC/Survey Monkey, Gallup and the Quinnipiac University poll have all found that support for Trump has declined since his January 20 inauguration. The NBC-sponsored poll had Trump at an even 45 percent approve-45 percent disapprove at the time of his inauguration.

Polls trending conservative, for Fox News and the Rasmussen Report, have given Trump slightly higher ratings. Pew Research, however, had his approval rating at 38 pecent.

The NBC/Survey Monkey survey found Americans evenly divided on Trump's immigration crackdown: 50 percent approved, 47 percent disapproved

A Sign That Obamacare Exchanges Are Failing

Yet more bad news for Obamacare this week: Molina Healthcare lost $110 million on the exchanges last year, and the CEO told investors, “There are simply too many unknowns with the marketplace program to commit to our participation beyond 2017.”

At first glance, it’s hard to see why this piece of news is worth worrying about. UnitedHealth recently projected several times those losses, and it's a bigger player on the exchanges. Why spend so much time looking at one modest-size insurer?

Because Molina is one of the companies that has been repeatedly pointed to, by virtually every health-care-policy wonk in the business, as one of the “bright spots” on the exchanges. Molina is a company that specializes in covering poor people. Before Obamacare, they were a sizable player in the “Medicaid managed care” model, and it seemed like the expertise they’d thusly acquired was allowing them to design the sort of plans that actually made money on the exchanges. Which is to say bare bones plans, not fancy but adequate. Apparently, that’s no longer a money-maker, at least for Molina.

Epic fail is all around for Bumblecare, as I predicted!

Acans shrugged off rising mortgage rates and bought existing homes in January at the fastest pace since 2007. That has set off bidding wars that have pushed up prices as the supply of available homes has dwindled to record lows.

Home sales rose 3.3% in January from December to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.69 million, the National Assn. of Realtors said Wednesday.

Steady job gains, modest pay raises and rising consumer confidence are spurring healthy home buying even though borrowing costs have risen since last fall. Some potential buyers may be accelerating their home purchases to get ahead of any further increases in mortgage rates. With few homes available for sale, buyers feel pressure to rapidly close a deal when they find a suitable property.

The typical house for sale was on the market for just 50 days last month, down from 64 days a year earlier. Strong demand is pushing up the median home price, which jumped 7.1% from a year earlier to $228,900.

Just 1.69 million homes were on the market nationwide in January, near the lowest level since records began in 1999. It would take 3.6 months to deplete that supply at the current pace of sales, matching a record low reached in December. In a balanced housing market, supply is usually equal to about six months’ worth of sales.

The supply crunch probably will get worse during the upcoming spring buying season, economists say, because demand typically rises by more than supply during that time.

“Relative to the number of households, the number of homes for sale is well through prior historic lows,” said Ted Wieseman, an economist at Morgan Stanley. “The level of inventories could be a much bigger challenge moving into much higher sales in the spring and summer.”

Thank you Mr President Barack Hussein Obama.

His approval ratings at the same time in his first term, was close to 60%.

For the first time, the ACA is at 54% approval.

And yet it's in a death spiral because not enough young, healthy people are buying.

If the Republicans do nothing the whole law will crash under it's own weight.

The best thing Republicans can do is repeal it in such a way that there will be a soft landing for people on it.

Trump did something yesterday that is meant to avoid getting blamed for Trump Care by tossing it to the House of Representatives. He effectively said, Merry Christmas Paul Ryan!

Tax credit so they are tossed into the complex free market insurance swamp.
Tax free savings accounts. It will leave millions without health insurance.
Paul Ryan aka Ayn Rand, will try to get rid of Medicare, again tossing millions into the for profit insurance swamp.

If they don't include the pre existing conditions, and up to 26 for the children coverage, they will be committing suicide.

Trump basically tossed another one of his campaign promises into the trash, where he will rot.

In sum, after the border is closed, and as long as the Trump administration does not summarily deport employed, crime-free, undocumented immigrants who have lived here for years, its reform agenda will quickly win the debate and at last return immigration to a legal enterprise.

In turn, Trump opponents will discover that while a small percentage of the undocumented have committed violent crimes, a far larger percentage than is commonly reported may have committed identity theft or falsified government documents.

Arguing to Americans that these are neither real crimes nor deportable offenses will prove no more a winning message for Trump’s critics than would deporting productive and law-abiding residents who entered the U.S. illegally win support for Trump himself.

The Danish government has been inadvertently paying benefits to citizens fighting for the Islamic State in Syria, Danish officials said Tuesday, as outrage grows that militants are manipulating the country’s generous welfare system.

About 145 Danes have traveled to Syria or Iraq to fight for militant groups since 2012, according to the Danish security and intelligence services.

Officials said this week that they had identified a number of Danish citizens who, while receiving government disability pensions, had traveled to Syria to join the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

“It is a huge scandal that we are paying out money from the welfare funds in Denmark to people who are going to Syria and elsewhere in the world to undermine democracy that we have been fighting for for hundreds of years,” the country’s minister of labor, Troels Lund Poulsen, said.

Last year, the news media reported that more than two dozen Danish citizens receiving unemployment benefits had traveled to Syria to fight for ISIS, even though the law requires recipients to live in Denmark.

Senior labor ministry officials said Tuesday that the center-right government of Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen was planning to pass legislation to plug loopholes and prevent what they called an egregious misuse of public funds.

Officials said that since last year, municipal and state authorities had been trying to collect about $95,000 in welfare benefits that had been wrongly paid to 29 citizens who had gone to Syria to fight for ISIS.

Until now, national regulations have made it difficult for the authorities to stop benefit payments to a suspected militant, even if the person had been identified by the intelligence services as an ISIS fighter. Officials said investigating the circumstances of individuals in Syria or Iraq was logistically challenging.

Under the proposed legislation, any citizen deemed a national security risk after traveling abroad to join the Islamic State would have his or her benefits immediately halted, said Bent Nielsen, an official who oversees how welfare benefits are distributed.

A man dressed as a woman was arrested in Virginia on Monday after police say he was caught peeping into restroom stalls three times in the past year.

Richard Rodriguez, 30, filmed a woman in a bathroom stall at the Potomac Mills Mall, Prince William County Police said on Tuesday. A 35-year-old woman was in the stall when she saw a bag moved toward her under the stall divider. Rodriguez apparently had been filming her, police said.
The victim rushed out of the stall to confront the man and saw him hurry to another stall, next to another woman.

The victim alerted the woman and then contacted mall security of the shopping center on 2700 block of Potomac Mills Circle in Woodbridge, Virginia.
