Peaceful transition of power?

One of the hallmarks of our storied Republic is the historical peaceful orderly transition of power from an outgoing to an incoming Presidential Administration. Of course, this peaceful transition of power is not just a literal military issue, but to a large degree a basic fundamental thought process that Republican or Democrat, ultimately we are all Americans and it's in the Country's best interest for everyone to work together to ensure that an incoming President is given full cooperation and is given the best possible chance for success.

At least it was a hallmark of our society prior to 2017.

Very recently the NY Times reported some very incredible charges regarding the variety of ways that the Obama Administration was working to undermine the incoming Trump administration. The Times reported about intercepted communications that was passed around. They reported that the Obama administration was declassifying information that may have been troublesome for the new team, in order to encourage leaks. The Times mentioned that the outgoing administration had left "bread crumbs" so that new people would be pulled into certain directions. The Times even went so far as to say that Obama appointees were working against the new Administration.  Moreover, there is suggestion that the Democrats in the Senate have been and still are purposely delaying the confirmation of new appointees so that the old Obama appointees could stick around to do as much damage as possible.

Now what I find almost equally as alarming as the fact that our traditions regarding transition of power may have come to a screeching halt... is the manner in which the NY Times reported on all of this. There was no outrage or even much negative being reported about the actions of undermining the new President. Rather the Times was reporting on this as if it is normalized political strategy. That this is all part of an acceptable means for the previous President to remain relevant in the political and governing aspects of the Country.

Ironically, it's the NY Times that seems to be one of the most vocal critics of the Trump charge that Obama was abusing his power by intercepting conversations of him and some of his campaign team prior to the election. They are calling it a "conspiracy theory". Of course most of that theory can be traced right back to the reports that they have been making regarding the previous President's behavior.

I wonder out loud if this is actually how these people think. That the sort of things that the Obama administration put in place to undercut the Trump administration are perfectly acceptable political tactics... and that anyone who suggests differently is part of a broad conspiracy theory.

Look back at the thread(s) you had going on the night/morning of the election and see how the left here devolved as they realized Trump had won, or more damaging to them was the fact Hillary Clinton in the words of HB "Had it all" . He went on to tell us she had the money, oh yeah, libs like HB love money when their team has it, she had had all of the woman voters locked the hell up and she had Bill, Obama, Ried, Polosi and a host of big super star Pop Cultist .

It was about 3 am central time that the uncivil war by the Democrats was launched and it will be like this the next 8 Years Trump is the President.

WEDS is "Women self firing from work day", this should be good.

Roger also was cheerleading the losses in the futures, turns out he did not put his money where his sizable mouth was, neither did Paul Krugman, they where bench sitters. Unlike my wife and I what acted, put money in pre-market opening on the 9th of Nov 2016 and have been all in since.

My God, oh well she can now go full time fleecing the world of money, but, will they still give , given she lost, will be interesting to see if that foundation folds .

She did not have the class to address her people in the Hall with the Glass Ceiling she rented, it was just too much for her to do, to do the right thing.

Since that night the Clinton Crime Family Foundation had to fold, like all Ponzi schemes when new money stops coming in it all goes to shit.

It really does now look like President Donald J. Trump, and markets are plunging. When might we expect them to recover?

Frankly, I find it hard to care much, even though this is my specialty. The disaster for America and the world has so many aspects that the economic ramifications are way down my list of things to fear.

Still, I guess people want an answer: If the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never."

Yep, wait, just the exact opposite has happened.

You are correct. The portions of my post that are based on the reports from the NY Times should certainly be given the due respect that the NY Times reputation deserves.

But the portions that remain true, regardless of the facts, is the attitude of the NY Times reporters... that somehow the concept of the Obama administration working "against" the incoming administration is simply fair political gamesmanship. I find that truly amazing (although not necessarily surprising).

opie said...

But the portions that remain true,

LOLOL....The only thing true is that is nothing but your opinion. The NYT's is the one of the few things that prevent trump from running completely amok. Keep digging, it's getting worse with the BS tweet of Obama releasing 122 gitmo' guys who returned to combat...Another brick in the wall of stupid republicon' lies you will defend.

Oh bullshit.

He was sworn in and is the President.

The fact that he's insane is an issue that you have denied, is your problem, not mine.

His impulsive behavior, exhibited this morning, with another lying Tweet about Gitmo is further evidence, that you deny.

Indy called you on, and you ducked for cover.

"the Trump charge that Obama was abusing his power by intercepting conversations of him and some of his campaign team prior to the election."

That is simply untrue. Mark Levin is the source of the accusations. The White House is trying not to admit that it's a fabrication of a mentally disturbed President.

I'm hoping that Mike Pence will act to remove him from office, using the 25th amendment, as his patriotic duty to preserve and protect the Constitution.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I'm getting ready for a medical examination. Not mental illness like the President.

Myballs said...

Levin isn't the source. The MSM is. Even the NY times reported in January that those Trump phone transcripts came from wiretaps. That was their headline. Levin jyst connected the dots.

And you csn shove your 25th amendment crap up your *ss.

C.H. Truth said...

Roger -

This whole story has been brewing ever since the Times ran that piece last week about how the Obama administration worked to undermine the Trump Administration. The reports of all the intercepted communications by the Times, got others (like Levin) rehashing the stories about FISA warrants and wire-taps.

There seems to be a lot of intercepted information regarding Donald Trump and the same three associates. Coincidence that all of the foreign people they claim they were monitoring only spoke to these four people?

So bottom line:

Old FICA warrants are not destroyed or kept in locked vaults. Jeff Sessions or other people from the DOJ can look these things up. One might think that the Times story and the buzz sent them into action to figure this out.

If they didn't look this up prior to Trump making the tweet (Trump just so happened to have spent Saturday with Jeff Sessions) then certainly they looked into it "post tweet".

Either way, you pretty much have to assume that currently Trump and his team know the truth.

From what I heard regarding the press briefings this week, Sean Spicer has sort of doubled down on the tweet claiming that it still "speaks for itself"... even as they have offered no more information. Perhaps that means nothing. But the fact that the White House isn't backing down, along with the non-denial denial from the Obama spokesman provides us with some logical reason to lean in one direction.

no, actually he's not. he certainly did have something to say about it though. and as usual, when the left needs a bogeyman, you guys collectively identify one - in this case, levin - and you guys facebook and occupy democrats yourselves into a collective shit fit.

myballs is right. the ny times reported on the fisa activity. the summer time petition was denied and the october petition was granted.

pence?

now i know you've lost what's left of your pickled mind.

how about getting maxine waters to officially sponsor articles of impeachment? she's been extremely vocal on the issue and could serve as the perfect democrat spokesman to lead the charge.

if you're serious about leveraging the power of the 25th amendment, then a more logical choice to push that issue would be a member of the OPPOSITION party. not the vice president.

On January 19th and 20th 2017, The NY Times reported that wiretaps of people on the Trump team were passed along to the Obama White House, one of the story’s authors was Michael S. Schmidt. On Saturday that same Michael S. Schmidt was one of the reporters who wrote the story, “Trump, Offering No Evidence, Says Obama Tapped His Phones.” That’s right, the same NY Times reporter who was one of the sources for the President’s claim, said that there was no evidence for the claim.

The first story by Mr. Schmidt appeared on the NY Times website the evening of January 19, 2017 and appeared on the front page of the paper the morning of Inauguration Day, January 20, 2017:

[...]

On Saturday, the day the POTUS tweeted that he was wiretapped, the NY Times claimed President Trump had no evidence. If you look at the bi-line of the story, you will see the same Michael S. Schmidt:

This is the ultimate in liberal media bias. In January Michael S. Schmidt perpetuated the rumor that team Trump had Russian connections, and to support his point he said that Trump’s people were wiretapped. However when President Trump claimed his people were wiretapped, the same guy, Michael S. Schmidt said there was no evidence.

Either the Times editors and Mr. Schmidt are trying to skew the story, or they are all suffering from a form of dementia and have no memory.

Just so we are clear here.

Your argument is:

The President of the United States, who under his charge has the entire justice department, who would have access to see any and all past FICA requests... including any and all of them made by the Justice Department under Obama...

Who could simply request Sessions to have someone check the records to verify one way or the other...

Is relying on media reports for his information ??

Seems right to me.......or he would declassify the data which he can do. Simple ain't it?????

C.H. Truth said...

Actually you cannot declassify warrant requests Opie... certainly not over political considerations such as feeding a media frenzy.

But either way... there is less than a zero chance that the Trump team does not know whether those warrant requests exist at this point.

C.H. Truth said...

There are four people who know for sure.

Obama, Lynch, Trump, Sessions...

Why is it that the spokesman for Obama refuses to deny any FICA warrants were requested? He only denies that Obama was personally involved in any Justice Department investigation.

Why is it that Spicer (even as of this morning) is not backing off the claims, repeating that Trump's tweets "speak for themselves".
