Budget deal reached...

In spite of many of the Democrat rank and file demanding that a DACA fix be included in the next budget deal, it looks like leadership has agreed (at least in principle) to a budget deal that would fund the Government for the next two years, and kick the next debt limit fight off till after the mid-terms.

The President is said to be in favor of signing the bill.

Meanwhile, Pelosi rages on about a DACA fix...

The odd thing is that people are reporting that Pelosi is in agreement (in private) but publicly railing against the deal, because she claims not to have a promise from Paul Ryan to hold an open debate regarding DACA/immigration. This seems to be classic talking out of both sides of your mouth. Say one thing to these people, and another to those.  In the end, I would expect Paul Ryan to make some statement (similar to McConnell's) to the extent that they will focus on immigration reform, and make the promise that the process will be open and inclusive.

At the end of the day, many Democrats are still wanting to at least posture for a clean DACA fix. Perhaps even some expected that they would be able to force it into the budget deal. But there is effectively no chance that a clean DACA fix is either going to be included in the budget deal, or passed through both chambers of congress and signed into law by the President.

Democrats would serve the process better if they were willing to accept the reality that they are going to have to give in to some of the demands of the GOP and the President to get their DACA fix. I believe that some thought that they could stand tall, not give in, and possibly use a long term stalemate as a campaign issue for 2018. But it looks increasingly like they must absolutely get a DACA fix or they will be looking at a revolt by both members of their congressional caucus and rank and file Democratic voters.

Whatever leverage the Democrats thought they had... seems to be slip sliding away. If the budget deal goes through as expected (without a DACA fix) the Democrats will have been badly outplayed for a second time in just a few weeks.

We shall see. It's a bipartisan solution and yes is a compromise between both sides.

Both sides are divided, but given the history of Ryan being unwilling to open up the floor for debate, the Republican controlled congress opposition by the freedom caucus, there are long odds against even a debate . Politico reported .

Fiscal hawks on Capitol Hill panned the budget deal reached by Republican leaders and Democrats on Wednesday as fiscally irresponsible and an abrogation of the GOP's congressional majorities.

Senators and House members on the right immediately came out against the agreement, while a large number of leadership-aligned Republicans were also noncommittal. It's unclear whether the opposition to the deal, which calls for $300 billion in new spending, will put it in jeopardy. But it has certainly put the Republican Party’s reputation for fiscal discipline on the rocks, coming on the heels of a tax law projected to increase the deficit by $1.5 trillion.

“This budget deal is a betrayal of everything limited government conservatism stands for and I will be voting 'no,'” said Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah).

A slew of House conservatives stood up in a closed-door Republican conference meeting Wednesday to chide Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and his team on the package, which would increase spending on defense and domestic programs. One of those was House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), a longtime Ryan ally, who argued that the plan would balloon the nation’s more than $20 trillion debt.

Sorry for off topic. But interesting.

The email is a blockbuster!

A text message between two FBI employees from September 2016 released by a Republican senator Wednesday says that then-President Barack Obama “wants to know everything we’re doing.”

Of course the President tweeted that. And the rest of the cult supporters were filled with glee. Another distraction on the Mueller investigation.

Mr. Strzok was removed in July, however, after the Justice Department’s inspector general uncovered numerous text messages between Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page, in 2015 and 2016, that were highly critical of Mr. Trump. Since Mr. Strzok’s removal was disclosed in December, staffers for Mr. Johnson and other senators have been poring over the pair’s correspondence, and the Justice Department has turned over to Congress two batches of the pair’s texts.

While The Wall Street Journal obtained many of the text messages between the two staffers last week, reporting that they showed no overall conspiracy against Mr. Trump, Republicans and the president himself have cited the messages as evidence that the Russian probe amounts to a wider plot to undermine him.

Mr. Trump tweeted Wednesday, “NEW FBI TEXTS ARE BOMBSHELLS!” He didn’t cite any particular text message.

In his Wednesday report, Mr. Johnson pointed to a Sept. 2, 2016, exchange in which Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page were discussing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to deliver to Mr. Obama.

Thanks to the fake news Wall Street Journal. All negative news on Mr Trump is fake news.

Despite all of this bad news President Trump holds a 48% approval rating today in the Rasmussen daily tracking.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 34% who Strongly Approve of the way the president is performing and 42% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating

Yes, he did receive clearance which means the FBI did not find any information disqualifying him.

A history of domestic abuse would be disqualifying.

The FBI's standard procedure is to interview all neighbors, relatives, friends, and close associates.

There's no way the ex-wives were not interview.

So since he did get a clearance, you can safely assume that they didn't mention any abuse.

Wife 2 had an emergency restraining order...try again idiot.

It's easy for couples getting a divorce to get restraining orders against their spouse for all sorts of reasons. It is not that uncommon.

star. A Harvard graduate, Rhodes scholar and former Senate aide, Mr. Porter was an ally of Mr. Kelly’s and a steady force in a West Wing populated by aides vying for face time with — and influence over — the president. But, a year into his job, Mr. Porter did not have the permanent security clearance that aides of his rank always have.

Ms. Willoughby, Mr. Porter’s second wife, said in an interview on Wednesday that when the F.B.I. was conducting research for Mr. Porter’s security clearance, he asked her whether she had told investigators about their marriage.

“He believed that that was holding up his clearance,” Ms. Willoughby said. “I did describe my marriage in detail.”

Ms. Willoughby, who said that she divorced Mr. Porter in November 2013, decided to go public about the allegations after facing pressure from Mr. Porter to issue a statement that she felt “minimized” her experiences in their marriage.

In addition to asking her about what she said to F.B.I. officials, Mr. Porter, she said, had been in touch several times over the past year to urge her to take down a blog post in which she detailed abuse in their marriage without naming him.

According to an emergency protective order she filed in June 2010 against him in an Arlington, Va., court, Ms. Willoughby accused Mr. Porter of growing angry when she said he had violated a private separation agreement. A day later, her complaint said, Mr. Porter entered her apartment with a key he had not given back.

According to her complaint, Mr. Porter left only after Ms. Willoughby had asked him to leave several times. He returned minutes later and “punched in the glass on the door,” trying to get into the apartment. He left the property after she read her name and address aloud to a 911 dispatcher.

“When he heard me on the phone with the police,” Ms. Willoughby wrote in the complaint, “he apologized and begged me not to involve them.”

Ms. Holderness, Mr. Porter’s first wife, described their relationship as “verbally, emotionally and physically abusive” in an interview with The Daily Mail. In photographs she gave to The Intercept, Ms. Holderness has a blackened right eye and a swollen cheekbone.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Rob Porter, a White House staffer largely responsible for controlling the flow of information to President Trump, is resigning following allegations of domestic abuse.

Two ex-wives have accused Porter of physical abuse, with one telling news outlets of incidents years ago when Porter punched her in the face and choked her, while another spoke of emotional abuse and being grabbed and pulled from the shower.

Responding to the accusations in a statement read by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Porter called them "outrageous" and "simply false."

Sanders confirmed Porter's resignation Wednesday, though she said he would not immediately leave his job in an effort to "ensure that there's a smooth transition going forward."

Porter served as the assistant to the president and White House staff secretary. He worked with chief of staff John Kelly on "trying to impose order" in a White House known for feuding staff and disorganization. Beginning after Kelly assumed his chief of staff role over the summer, he directed that all documents that Trump would see should be vetted by both him and Porter.

Sanders said Porter had been "effective" in his job as staff secretary and President Trump and Kelly "have had full confidence and trust in his abilities and his performance."

Porter said photos from 2005 of his first wife Colbie Holderness with an apparent black eye had a "reality behind them [that] is nowhere close to what is being described."
