Kelly Ward is a name that has come up. She is a State Senator and challenged McCain in the primary in 2016. She is a critic however. The other option would be to pick the either Martha McSally or Kelli Ward (who are both running in the primary for Jeff Flake's seat). Perhaps McSally (who is ahead the polling right now).
Perhaps wait till after Tuesday's primary. Let the winner decide to run for Flake's seat or sit in McCain's seat and run in 2020?
Or if Ducey wants to get crazy... offer the seat to Jeff Flake!

There is also an issue with Arizona law that "requires" a Governor to replace a Senator with someone of the same Party. That makes it unlikely that it can go to a "non-politician" who may not have an actual Party representation.
Kelly Ward is a name that has come up. She is a State Senator and challenged McCain in the primary in 2016. She is a critic however. The other option would be to pick the either Martha McSally or Kelli Ward (who are both running in the primary for Jeff Flake's seat). Perhaps McSally (who is ahead the polling right now).
Perhaps wait till after Tuesday's primary. Let the winner decide to run for Flake's seat or sit in McCain's seat and run in 2020?
Or if Ducey wants to get crazy... offer the seat to Jeff Flake!
