Now what?

The Ohio State University?

Puts up 567 yards and 62 points on College Football's best defense (and number four ranked team) and put themselves in the Big Ten championship against Northwestern (a game they should win). Dwayne Haskins lead the way with five touchdown passes giving him forty one for the year.

Best QB out of big ten since Drew Brees?
Assuming Alabama wins out, Clemson wins out, and Notre Dame wins out, that leaves Oklahoma, UCF, and Ohio State really in the running. With the McKenzie Milton injury for UCF, hard to imagine that they will be placed in the Playoffs. Obviously things change if Georgia beats Alabama. Then everyone from the SEC will scream for two spots (again). While that may seem possible if Georgia and Alabama are both one loss teams, I think you would see a total meltdown by most everyone if the Selection Committee placed a two loss Georgia or LSU over both Big 12 champs Oklahoma and Big Ten champs Ohio State.

But assuming Alabama beats Georgia, Oklahoma seems to have the inside track with a higher ranking and basically the same record as OSU. Both teams have struggled to put teams away. Oklahoma won three of their last four games by five, one, and three, while the Buckeyes have struggled against Maryland, Nebraska, and had an embarrassing loss to Purdue (they seem to have one game every year in the Big Ten where they lose to a team they should beat - last year it was Iowa).

That being said, Ohio State was ranked number two before dropping 111 spots after their only loss. They played like a number two team today. Will the College Football playoffs end up with another year where the Big Ten champions are not represented? That didn't sit well last year for a conference that went 7-1 in bowl games in 2017.

The problem is the Big 10 is really the Big 2 and 10 also rans. While the SEC has about six programs that are perennially playoff caliber teams.

UGA’s only shot in is to win next week

But Northwestern is in the Big 10 championship?

And freaking Maryland almost beat OSU last week

But Northwestern is in the Big 10 championship?

Kind of goes to my point. They need to schedule quality out of conference opponents and beat them to get the commettee to pay more attention to them.

Ohio State will have wins against five ranked teams this year, including Michigan (who was ranked 4th) and Penn State (when they were ranked 9th).

The big ten started the season with two top five teams, and at one point or the other had four teams this season ranked in the top eight. They won half of the New Year's Six bowls last year.

But it's the same deal every year. When a high ranked Big Ten loses to another Big Ten team, they drop like an anvil. Ohio State dropped nine places when they lost. Penn St dropped ten.

An SEC loses to an unranked SEC team and they drop a couple of spots, and the team that beat them becomes ranked.

btw... Northwestern played Notre Dame pretty well, losing 31-21. Only game they have lost in the past eight... beating two other ranked teams.

On a different note... My Gophers won the Paul Bunyan Ax for the first time since 2003.

Trump demands action to reduce deficit, pushes new deficit spending
President Trump is asking his aides to address the country's ballooning budget deficits, but his limits on what they can do have all but ruled out meaningful reduction. The president's directive came last month and unnerved Republicans and investors, helping fuel a big sell-off in the stock market.

Gee, finally reported that the donnie's lack of leadership is not going to make any debt reduction.....and the stock market loses all gains for the year....be proud R's.....lololol

It gets really interesting if Alabama and Clemson win their conference championship games but Oklahoma, Ohio State, and UCF all lose theirs.

Or, what if the reverse of the above happens?

Urban feigns another heart attack and resigns?

Any way that UCF gets in?

Right now?

Alabama
Clemson
Notre Dame
Georgia
Oklahoma
Ohio State
UCF

I think Alabama has to beat Georgia, that would put Alabama and Notre Dame in for sure... then if two of the other three (Clemson, OK, or OSU) lose?

Without their QB, what’s the point? That was an ugly break Joe Theisman ll

i'm trying to understand why georgia is ranked higher than ohio state. no offense cali, but OSU's win over michigan was a helluva lot more impressive and impactful than the dawgs beating GT.

SEC, it just means more. And UGA didn’t get blown out by an unranked team.

I think OSU’s win showed how overrated MI was

yeah, no kidding. MI was a 4 pt. favorite with everyone bragging up their defense. go figure.

and talk about overrated - it's arguable that alabama's strength of schedule isn't as tough as it could be.

It Just Means More

I think Spurrier said it was more important to win SEC than a national championship

Definitely but I think that’s true for everyone, in every power 5 conference. shit we played UMass the week before Tech

As long as they are Silver Britches

Silver Britches

Silver Britches were an innovation of Coach Wally Butts, who took over as head coach in 1939. The handsome pants, complimented by a bright red jersey, made for a striking uniform. Through the years, fans referred to the Bulldogs' silver britches in their chants and on banners, but the phrase really caught on in the early fifties with a cheer, banners, and colorful vests that proclaimed "Go, You Silver Britches." Coach Vince Dooley re-designed the uniform when he came in 1964 and used white pants; however, he re-instituted the silver britches in 1980 just prior to what turned out to be Georgia's national championship season.
