While the media has been hyping polls showing Democrat Joe Biden with a sizable and growing lead over President Trump, the outfit that called the 2016 popular vote correct today shows the 2020 race neck-and-neck.
A week after finding that Trump closed a 10-point gap with Biden to just three points, Rasmussen Reports today revealed that Trump has edged up another point as Biden has hit a ceiling.
Today the race stands at 45% for Trump, 47% for Biden, well within the poll’s margin of error. It was published in Rasmussen’s weekly “White House Watch” feature.
Separately, Rasmussen said that Trump has boosted his approval rating to 49% approve, 50% disapprove.
What’s more, at this stage of his presidency, former President Barack Obama also had a 49% approval rating and went on to win reelection with 51% of the vote.
Unlike some polls that undercount Republicans and survey adults or registered voters, Rasmussen slightly overcounts Democrats and polls likely voters, considered more accurate. President Trump said he wished alleged sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell "well" during a White House coronavirus briefing on Tuesday. Maxwell, the former girlfriend of financier Jeffrey Epstein, is accused of recruiting girls in the 1990s for Epstein to sexually abuse during massage sessions she sometimes participated in at his Manhattan mansion and in Palm Beach, Florida; Santa Fe, New Mexico, and London.
Mr. Trump was asked about her case and whether she should turn in other powerful men such as Britain's Prince Andrew, who U.S. authorities want to speak to.
"I don't know, I really haven't been following it too much," he said. "I just wish her well, frankly. I've met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach... But I wish her well, whatever it is."

“[Bill] and Ghislaine were getting it on,” a source who witnessed the relationship said in an interview. “That’s why he was around Epstein—to be with her.”

(Maxwell purchased it in 2000 for a mere $4.95 million.)
The coziness between the former president and the charming British socialite drew notice in New York social circles. Clinton and Maxwell were spotted dining together at the Madison Avenue Italian mainstay Nello, according to a 2002 New York magazine article, which described Maxwell as a “man-eater” in the same paragraph. When Clinton went stag to a New York education charity gala in late 2001 — Hillary declined to attend — Maxwell was reportedly at his side.
The relationship also carried over to the Clinton Global Initiative and Clinton Foundation. Maxwell became somewhat of a fixture at these events. It was there where she was even served court papers about her participation in Epstein’s abuse.
On July 31, 2010 Maxwell was among the few guests to attend Chelsea Clinton’s wedding at the former Astor estate in Rhinebeck, New York. This auspicious event followed an embarrassing incident for Maxwell.
“Only a few months earlier, while attending the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City, at the end of an Indian summer, in September 2009, a process server walked through the packed lobby of the Sheraton Hotel…and served Ghislaine Maxwell papers for a deposition,” the journalist Conchita Sarnoff recalls.
“Maxwell…was huddled in a small group talking to other guests” as the server approached her. He “called out her name and…with so many people surrounding her, Maxwell was unsuspecting. She confirmed her identity and he served her notice. The deposition was in relation to Epstein’s sexual abuse case. The server left at once,” Sarnoff writes in her book, TrafficKing.
“Ironically, photographs of Maxwell taken by a private investigator who accompanied the process server showed Maxwell receiving notice while standing beneath a human trafficking banner. Human trafficking was the Conference’s theme at the 2009 Clinton Global Initiative,” she writes.

At the time, they defined the number of these “cases” as the “curve” which we were supposed to sacrifice so much to “flatten,” lest the wave of hospitalizations overwhelm our health care system. Because their premises were wrong, that wave never came.
Instead, in May, as various non-official surveys were published showing that the majority of those who tested positive for COVID either barely knew that they had been infected or had not known at all, these very authorities doubled down their dishonesty. They began labeling mere infections as “cases.” They divorced reporting of these “cases” from reporting of the number of deaths, and warned the inattentive public about “spiking COVID cases” as if infection carried a serious risk. They also promoted widespread testing of wholly asymptomatic persons for current and past infections, the results of which tests were sure to produce a surging number of new “cases” thus defined.
And they toyed with reporting deaths by attributing to COVID any that “involved” or looked as if they might have involved it. They then included pneumonia, influenza, and COVID into the category PIC. That is how the death figure came to exceed 100,000. But if the CDC had used the same criterion that it did with the SARS virus, namely “severe acute respiratory distress syndrome,” the figure by the end of June would have been some 16,000.

The most revealing answer from Donald Trump’s interview with Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace came in response not to the toughest question posed by Wallace, but to the easiest.
At the conclusion of the interview, Wallace asked Trump how he will regard his years as president.
“I think I was very unfairly treated,” Trump responded. “From before I even won, I was under investigation by a bunch of thieves, crooks. It was an illegal investigation.”
When Wallace interrupted, trying to get Trump to focus on the positive achievements of his presidency—“What about the good parts, sir?”—Trump brushed the question aside, responding, “Russia, Russia, Russia.” The president then complained about the Flynn investigation, the “Russia hoax,” the “Mueller scam,” and the recusal by his then–attorney general, Jeff Sessions. (“Now I feel good because he lost overwhelmingly in the great state of Alabama,” Trump said about the first senator to endorse him in the 2016 Republican primary.)
Donald Trump is a psychologically broken, embittered, and deeply unhappy man. He is so gripped by his grievances, such a prisoner of his resentments, that even the most benevolent question from an interviewer—what good parts of your presidency would you like to be remembered for?—triggered a gusher of discontent.
But the president still wasn’t done. “Here’s the bottom line,” he said. “I’ve been very unfairly treated, and I don’t say that as paranoid. I’ve been very—everybody says it. And if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here. That’s how I saw it, and see it still.”
A city tall and proud, its people living in harmony and peace, surrounded by walls with open doors; that was Ronald Reagan’s image of America, and Ronald Reagan’s Republican Party.
When Reagan died in 2004, the conservative columnist George Will wrote a moving tribute to his friend, saying of America’s 40th president, “He traveled far, had a grand time all the way, and his cheerfulness was contagious.” Reagan had a “talent for happiness,” according to Will. And he added this: “Reagan in his presidential role made vivid the values, particularly hopefulness and friendliness, that give cohesion and dynamism to this continental nation.”
There were certainly ugly elements on the American right during the Reagan presidency, and Reagan himself was not without flaws. But as president, he set the tone, and the tone was optimism, courtliness and elegance, joie de vivre.
He has since been replaced by the crudest and cruelest man ever to be president. But not just that. One senses in Donald Trump no joy, no delight, no laughter. All the emotions that drive him are negative. There is something repugnant about Trump, yes, but there is also something quite sad about the man. He is a damaged soul.
In another time, in a different circumstance, there would perhaps be room to pity such a person. But for now, it is best for the pity to wait. There are other things to which to attend. The American public faces one great and morally urgent task above all others between now and November: to do everything in its power to remove from the presidency a self-pitying man who is shattering the nation and doesn’t even care.

After hiding the truth for 50 days, this week, Democrats and the media have been gasping in horror at the sight of federal law enforcement agents appearing in such a bucolic little burg.

Night after night, the “peaceful protesters” have thrown bombs, bricks, frozen water bottles, and cement blocks at the Portland police, whom they vastly outnumber. They’ve fired mortars, marbles, ball bearings, and commercial-grade fireworks at officers, sending dozens to the hospital.
They have blinded police with laser guns, slashed their tires, assaulted journalists, and set fire to buildings, statues, and homeless people’s belongings.
So far, the rioters have done millions of dollars in property damage. In the first few days of July, shootings were up 240 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The unemployment numbers are more than that. For example, I had to take 2 weeks furlough between May and August 31. When I do, I file. I did so this week. So I am I,e of those who filed, even though I still have my job, same job, same place, same salary.

And despite all of these heavy restrictions, this incredibly infectious, but low morbidity disease is still finding a way to infiltrate their societies. As for the “masks stop the spread” narrative, an antibody study out of Kobe City, Japan largely debunked the idea that the virus isn’t widespread in the nation. They found that hundreds of times more people were infected than actual confirmed numbers, largely disproving the hypothesis that masks stopped the spread.
Japan has only conducted a little over half a million tests, in a nation of 125 million people. Only those with severe symptoms are tested. Their “keep calm and carry on” approach approach is working.

Conclusion:
1) Doing nothing is better than buying into the illusion of control that we must “do something” to stop the spread.
2) “Testing testing testing” leads to panic panic panic.
3) There is still no evidence that there is a way to “stop the spread” and avoid the herd immunity threshold.

90 people in the state of Connecticut were found to actually have been negative for coronavirus after receiving positive tests, MSN reported on Tuesday.
The state's Department of Public Health said that its state laboratory found a "flaw" in one of its testing systems and that 90 of 144 people who were tested for the virus between June 15 and June 17 received false positive tests. 161 specimens were collected and a total of 91 of those showed false positives.
Many of those who received the false tests were nursing home residents.
The state said that it reported the flaw to the test manufacturer and the FDA. It has taken "immediate steps" to make sure patients have been notified - hopefully more than just forwarding them a copy of this article.
