Debate Open Mic - Comment moderation off

Comment moderation turned off tonight - go crazy!

Pat Caddell, the Democratic pollster and Fox News Insider, told Breitbart News that poll respondents said Clinton performed better at the debate; 48 percent said Clinton did a better job, compared to 43 percent, who said Trump did the better job.  Two percent of voters, previously undecided, switched to Trump after the debate. No undecideds went to Clinton. One percent switched from Trump to Clinton, and one percent switched from Clinton to Trump.

Conservative Time magazine online poll?

A CNN/ORC poll of debate watchers released after the event found 62% felt Clinton won compared to 27% for Trump. The poll suggests the debate audience was a bit more Democratic than the public as a whole, about on par with the Democratic tilt in the audience that watched the first debate in 2008 between Obama and John McCain.

If you’re looking for a “tell it like it is” cage fighter, Trump is winning this debate. But right after deriding Clinton’s “words” and “sound bites,” he’s also recycling a lot of his own best hits from his recent rallies, like “stop and frisk.” Clinton’s stable and measured approach doesn’t make for great television entertainment, but it’s easy to see a lot of Trump’s lines appearing in her ads … maybe even as soon as tomorrow night.

We’re a bit more than halfway through, and I’m deliberately trying not to do much theater criticism, but if you buy the notion that candidates’ body language betrays their confidence level, it’s remarkable how much stiller Clinton is than Trump, whereas Trump is flailing around a lot more. To me — and evidently to betting markets — that reads as confidence amid a strong performance, but we’ll see what the voters think.

I'm not looking at others.

For the most part, Clinton appears more informed on every issue so far.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

My ongoing view.

My first comment. Trump is getting his ass kicked. She looks in charge, he's just angry and wants to double the tax cut that the Reagan cuts did, increased the deficit in history. Then he tried to blame it on ISIS.
There he goes, no tax release because he's using audit as an excuse. He is afraid, he's not as rich, don't know he owes and who does he deal with.
He got out of paying ANY taxes because his Trump Casinos went broke.
Stop and frisk. It will be used on dark skinned people, and that's why it's unconstitutional.

I prepared to be the President
Now he want's to get past birther bullshit..
I'm trying to be neural, but he is just looking nuts, angry and evaded question after question.
His love for Putin is a problem.

He's trying to avoid his support for Iraq.

She reminds us that we need to work with NATO.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

NATO could be broken up.

Now he's trying to say that she created ISIS.

He's lying about Iraq.

I have a better temperament.

I am not watching the debate right now...538 says the betting has moved 5% in Clinton's favor - So Silver says it's not much movement either way.

NATE SILVER 10:26 PM
A 5 percent swing isn’t really that much — equivalent to the polls moving by a net of half a percentage point or perhaps a point in Clinton’s direction. So bettor groupthink is very, very possible — and it’s also possible that we’re seeing the conventional wisdom become a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. But it’s also not all that large a move.

Carl Bialik
CARL BIALIK 10:26 PM
Do you think those Betfair movements are a plausible representation of the real change in Clinton’s chances, or are bettors chasing each other? Could her win probability really have increased by 5 percentage points based on the debate so far?

She looked far better than Trump. He's almost acting like we need to go back from a word power.

She has no stamina.

Eleven hour comment go applause!

Pigs, slogs and dogs. She looks better.

CH, she won.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

You aren't watching?

You have to be kidding.

C.H. Truth said...

I have it taped. I had other things to do than watch it live.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

He avoided specifics. CH, you have to watch the debate. She kicked ass.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I had this on Facebook as it went along. Adding to that, he was still incoherent on almost everything.

want to top this off. She won by a large margin. He looked unprepared, He did o.k. in the jobs in the mid west, but from there on he looked like a child. She looked like an adult, who was in charge of all the things. His comments on nuclear weapons were frightening, he was in coherent on almost every thing.

She looked in charge, and when he tried to call her stamina into question, the audience broke the rules on applause, when she reminded him of her eleven hour testimony on Benghazi.

She will be our next President because the undecided voters are not going to support the man we saw tonight.

His love for Putin is a problem.

The questions on her health blew up in his face.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

He could not get into anything specific on his tax plan. She ripped him apart because he does not know the details. He was unprepared, his ego lead him to believe that he could wing it and win. She was prepared on every issue. The birther stuff he just freaked. And the Iraq war was all the media out to get him.

His temperment was exactly what I thought he would.

He isn't going to lose his core, but he's going to lose the undecided 30$ big time.

This was a strange debate, but Hillary Clinton was the clear winner on every front. She was prepared and graceful and fierce when she needed to be fierce. Donald J. Trump did call her out on her “super predator” comment which was, rich, coming from him but a solid reminder that as much as she may have evolved, Hillary Clinton still has reckoning to do for that comment and its longstanding effects.

As the debate went on, Mr. Trump’s ignorance of matters national and international became painfully apparent. He continued to regurgitate the talking points that will motivate his base but did little to reach anyone else. By the end of the night, he started to seem slightly unhinged with an odd threat about what he could say. He lied and distorted the truth several times. Throughout the night, it was plain to see that Mr. Trump was outclassed in every possible way. Mrs. Clinton handled herself like someone who wants to be president and is capable of serving as our president. The question is what this will do to swing undecided voters. In this election cycle, competence, intelligence, and common sense don’t seem to hold the currency they should.

Too big for here. But she won.

Commonsense said...

It was pretty much a draw. Holt did what the liberals asked him to do (now there's a profile in courage).

Despite that, Trump didn't make any big time gaffs and he appeared presidential without appearing wooden. However he did miss golden oppertunites to drive home the e-mail scandal and when Clinton started playing the gender card he missed nailing her on her deplorable comment.

At times he was much too defensive. However, his speaking style touches the common man much more than Clinton's.

Clinton smugness shined through. Other than that she did reasonably well but there wasn't too much there to get excited about.

For the next debate, Trump needs to relax more and Clinton need to be more animated and less animatron.

As far as the moderator is concerned, you can expect more of the same from Martha Raddatz.

Commonsense said...

Roger, the Washington Post and the New York Times will say she won even if she lost.

C.H. Truth said...

Drudge polling shows Donald Trump won by 86%

Commonsense said...

A self selected poll but interesting.

The real test is the next few days as the tracking polls start coming in follow by the full polls.

If I had to bet, there will be no changes.

Commonsense said...

Newt Gingrich is saying that a Minnesota poll is coming out that Clinton and Trump are tied at 42%.

He makes the point that if the Republican candidate is tied with the Democrat in deep blue Minnesota then the Democrats are heading towards electoral catastrophe.

I don't think this debate has changed the trajectory of the election.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I just looked at Drudge..

You give that credibility?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

A draw?

LMFAO.

Even Fox news said that he lost.

Commonsense said...

Really? I was watching Fox after the debate and nobody except Clinton surrogates said that.

Maybe for once you could be a little less of a hack.

It's worth noting that of the five biggest reasons for Trump's rise and Hillary's fall, immigration, border security, emails, Clinton foundation, and health, not one question from Holt on any of them. We hy? Because they're all bad topics for Hillary.

But he found time for discussion on Trump's weak areas.

Trump called it two days ago.

Lester was pitch perfect, he attacked Trump and Protected Hillary, he came in when needed to bail her out of jail and is dead wrong on "Stop and Frisk" aka "Terry Stop" which the US Supreme Court Ruled on in the late 1960's.

I was hoping against hope that Lester would do his job a journalist, he did not, clearly he failed, yet, the Debate scoring looks to be a Draw, which is a firm loss for Hillary.

Clinton never coughed once and never even took a sip of water. Trump sniffled and snorted repeatedly and had to wet his whistle with water (or vodka?) repeatedly.

Clearly, He lacks stamina.

Hillary smiled a lot, frequently laughed and showed good humor. Trump frowned and looked sour and dour.

Trump dominated and would have won if the entire debate had been like the first twenty or thirty minutes. After that, Hillary kicked ass for 60 to 70 minutes.

Trump puts foot in mouth twice:
_________

CLINTON: In fact, Donald was one of the people who rooted for the housing crisis. He said, back in 2006, "Gee, I hope it does collapse, because then I can go in and buy some and make some money." Well, it did collapse.

TRUMP: That's called business, by the way.
_____________

CLINTON: [As for why he keeps his taxes secret]... maybe he doesn't want the American people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he's paid nothing in federal taxes, because the only years that anybody's ever seen were a couple of years when he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a casino license, and they showed he didn't pay any federal income tax.

TRUMP: That makes me smart.

- The first half hour or so were all fair questions posed to both candidates.
- The last forty five minutes was Lester Holt attacking Trump for Clinton.

Goes to show that even "you" believe Trump won the fair portion of the debate.

So Jane, calling you out on your stupidity is a daily task which I do with great glee.

You now believe that we workers in the USA are, as you put it, "Pay too much in taxes", I agree, what will Hillary do to drop the tax rates paid ?

don't run .
