Consumer Confidence Soars in the Polls...

Americans confident that Trump can lead us to prosperity? Certainly seems that way, as the Stock Market rises, the dollar strengthens, and consumer confidence rises to levels not seen since Bush was President. I guess some people think that Trump will "Make America Great Again"

The consumer expectations index of the survey rose by 8.4 points from October to
85.2 - a one-month gain last exceeded in the December 2011 a testament to households'
optimistic view on the outlook for the U.S. economy and their own pocketbooks.

Thanksgiving Proclamation

Issued by President George Washington, at the request of Congress, on October 3, 1789

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and—Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favor, able interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other trangressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

I am thankful for a Trump WIN and the securing of the USSC for the next 50 years.

Clinton's soars to a lead in the popular vote surpasses 2 million

A half-dozen electors, those who will formally cast votes for Trump and Clinton on Dec. 19, are pushing to block Trump from winning a majority of votes.

Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump in the popular vote surpassed 2 million Wednesday morning, according to Dave Wasserman of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.
Clinton has garnered 64,223,958 votes, compared to Trump’s 62,206,395 votes.

There are still 1.5 million absentee votes are uncounted in California. That will probably push it to 2.5 million. That means 2.5 million American voters were not counted because of our obsolete electoral college.

It's hard to understand HB's reasoning. Without California's 55 electoral votes, Hillary Clinton would never have a chance.

Trying to us reason with a person who can't reason, it's like giving medicine to a dead man.

My reasoning is simple. When the 1.5 million absentee votes are counted, the Clinton lead will approach 2.5 million Americans who's votes don't matter.

Brain dead Menstra.

Obama soars at the polls to 57%, higher than Saint Ronald of the Reagan had at the same time in his administration. If he could run again, he would have won in a landslide.

You think all the rural counties will be happy to let LA choose the President for the Republic of California? I'd say not. They'll want some sort of geographically allocated voting. HB still won't see his "popular vote President" vision in action.

For tax year 2016, the personal exemption amount is $4,050 " IRS

For tax year 2017, The personal Exemption amount under the Trump plan:

"Replace the current personal exemption ($4,050 per individual and dependent) and the current standard deduction ($6,300 for single filers and $12,600 for married filers) with a standard deduction of $30,000 for married filers and $15,000 for single filers."

But, every Hillary voter will because they hate Trump and Tax cuts, they will continue to take the small personal exemption.

Cutting a separate check to the US Treasury for the difference.

Just what did happen to Clinton's big electoral vote victory HB?

If the electoral college delegates were distributed by the vote of each state, not the number of congress districts and Senate votes, California would have 199 electoral votes. It was 140 years ago whee this kind a miss balance of this size, resulted in the electoral college awarding the Presidency to Rutheford B. Hayes over Samuel Tilden. Tilden got 4.288,191 votes, Hayes got 4,033,497 votes for a difference of 254,694 votes. That was a 6.3% difference, 254,694/4,033,497. Clinton got 3.25% more votes, but trailed in the electoral college and Donald J. Trump will be sworn in on January 20, 2017, in my opinion, something we will never be able to explain to our children and grand children.

Is this is fair to the voters in the country? I think not.

I don't want it to go this way, but let's say that Trump ends up being a total failure as President an amendment might just gain traction. But that is unlikely, at least I hope not because our country would suffer.

wphamilton said...

Let's be frank and honest about a few things.

First, the EC IS undemocratic and it needs to be changed.

Second, that fact has nothing to do with Clinton and this election, and her California votes are meaningless except in California.

Third, rehashing old Clinton talking points, such as "most unqualified President in history" is going to get old. If Clinton had won, SHE would have been "the most unqualified President in history." It's time to move on.

After Reading the post by Jane and his ugly sister HB, they have made it clear, they are pissed off at losing to Trump.

They also made it clear that by any means they see the Electoral College vote in a few days going to Hillary.

Will they get there way?

They have to get enough electors to move the needle from the current landslide Trump win of 306, and move states to the Hillary and get her to 270.

But which states?

Come on lets have some more fun at the expense of the Diaper Pin Wearing bed wetting leftist.

wphamilton said...

the Electoral College vote in a few days going to Hillary.

No that's not going to happen. For one thing, it would spark civil unrest orders of magnitude greater than we've seen already. For another, since it's more likely that no candidate would reach 270 and it would go to the House, what would be the point for Clinton?

KD said...

WP, I never had any idea how leftist here that post would go so off the rails .

She had the money
She had the FakeMedia aka Main Stream Media
She had the Wall
She had the ground game

The only thing she lacked was voters in enough states to WIN, now the Leftist like HB and Jane his ugly prom date, want to have the "faithless voter" move the election to a Hillary WIN.

I agree with you it is not going to happen, not on the scale that the Three Liberal Stooges would need to shift the devastating loss to a Hillary WIN.

I do want to see from the Three Liberal Stooges which states they believe they can flip????

Even trying to overturn the election would be a colossal blunder even by DNC standards. Try it and fail, and what happens to the DNC then? Succeed and you really do have a "not my President" situation and what's the plan, quell dissent with the National Guard? There is no "win" in that scenario.

the DNC had better start paying attention to what REALLY matters. they are exactly one state legislature away from not being able to block any new constitutional amendments.

Should I call it repeating a lie on your part then? You've posted this falsehood many times now.

Clinton won 27 counties in Texas, 13 in Wisconsin, and 7 in Ohio. And lost all three of those states. She also won 14 in New Mexico. That's 61 counties in just four states.

wphamilton said...

Clinton won in about 500 counties. Trump won in a few thousand counties.

Clinton's margin of victory in the California popular vote is larger than Trump's margin of victory in the rest of the country. Trump needs to shape some policies that will benefit California. The Democrats need an agenda that is more attractive to US citizens that don't live in California.

the DNC had better start paying attention to what REALLY matters. they are exactly one state legislature away from not being able to block any new constitutional amendments.

And to ensure that the House will have a permanent Republican majority for the foreseeable future.

Democrats ought to thank their lucky stars (they don't believe in God), for the 17th amendment.

Otherwise, they would be a permanent, filibuster irrelevant minority in the senate.

Commonsense said...

The point is the Democrats haven't learned a damn thing from the election.

The right lesson is that the Democrat are representing an increasing narrow section of the population.

They are in fact in danger of being a regional party that has overwhelming strength in the northeast and west coast but none anywhere else in the country.

Without such broad appeal you will continue to see electoral victories such as this and increasingly Republican dominance in the house and especially the senate.

But instead of learning that lesson they are whining about the electoral college denying them their "rightful victory".

The presidential election is not a national election. It is a 50 state (and one district) election. That is never going to change.

And if the Democrats don't learn that lesson and start broadening their appeal their will continue to be Republican victories for the foreseeable future.

Commonsense said...

BTW, the Republicans are now the party of the working class.

Which includes whites, blacks, people of asian and latin descent.

So much for demographics is destiny. The divisive identity politics killed the Democratic party as we know it.

However the corpse of the Democratic party has just doubled down on stupid.
