Back at it !!!

Trump Remains Unpopular

This ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by landline and cellular telephone Jan. 12-15, 2017, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 1,005 adults. Results have a margin of sampling error of 3.5 points, including the design effect. Partisan divisions are 31-23-37 percent, Democrats-Republicans-independents.
Here we are, just a two months away from an election where Republicans made up a third of the electorate, and our Democratic media pollsters are right back to insisting that these Republicans simply do not exist. According to the latest Gallup Party Affiliation polling from early January, more Americans now call themselves Republicans than Democrats. This would appear consistent with what "generally" happens after one side wins, and the other side acts like a group of inconsolable adolescent crybabies. Not to mention, it's pretty much "always" what happens during the "honeymoon" period of a new Presidency. People tend to associate themselves with the winner (and that Party) and they disassociate with the loser (and that Party). I mean what sort of "loser" really still admits to supporting the grand master of losers (HRC)?

But let's not sweat the details of reality. The media is going to tell you what they want you to believe at this point, not what's real. They cannot fathom a country that elected Donald Trump, much less a country that actually continues to support him. So instead, what you will hear is how little faith the American left has in Trump, and they will amplify their diminishing opinions above all else.

As someone who has spent years watching and analyzing polls, it's sad how they have become less and less a quest for information, and more and more a tool to reinforce a predetermined narrative. Many in the media openly stated that they willingly and knowingly tossed out their objectively over Donald Trump. There is no reason to believe they relocated their objectively now, or are likely ever going to.

Will we ever get honest reporting again?

Even a tribute band refuses to perform at his party. That is really a sad state of affairs that a fraud group will not play for a fraud politician. LOL

Gallup is what. CH? Something you don't like? It seems quinipiac has him even lower. It will not take much longer for all those liberal polls to even go lower. What is you point other than you hate polls that do not conform to your expectations. Oh well, tough on you. Seems to me 40% approval means the 33% republicon voters plus another 7%. Seems very reasonable to me. LOL

Opie - Gallup shows that Democrats (not Republicans) have lost party favor since the election.

Right before the election... Democrats held a 30-27 edge in Party affiliation (which was fairly consistent with the 36-33 edge they held in the exit polls). Self described independents make up a larger portion of the population than the voting population for obvious reasons.

Right now, Republicans hold a 28-25 edge. That's six point swing since the election in favor of Republicans.

But when ABC/Washington post happens to poll... they manage to find a sample with an eight point advantage for the Democrats. That's eleven points off reality.

Nice try. We all know without gallup your glaringly obvious statement which is irrelevant to trumpiies travails which show a plunging approval for a POTUS, the lowest in modern history. The R polls will soon follow trumps as he flails along on twitter looking more and more unpresidential by the day. LOL..

Perhaps you should go back to "remedial" reading comprehension class. My issue with the poll was "purely" in regards to the sample. Once again (as most every media pollster did during the entire election horse race polling) they over-sample Democrats. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that skewing the sample will skew the results.

If you don't understand this, you can contact a representative to "Nightsnake" (a Whitesnake Tribute band) for more explanation on the subject... since you apparently take a lot of stock in these sorts of musical opinions.

https://www.facebook.com/whitesnaketributeband

Nobody (certainly not I) is arguing that Trump is a historically popular President elect. But in comparison to Hillary Clinton... at least he "is" a President-Elect!

Perhaps you should learn that I don't give a shit about your idiotic stance with the sample. The fact remains, gallup is not a liberal group and donnie's polls suck. As to the rest of your BS, it is just that your opinion has no more weight than mine and the fact you are not enthralled with the data again proves nothing at all. Logic is not your forte when it is skewed so far to the right. Again, I don't give a crap what hollywood thinks like you allege. Keep making stuff up to perpetrate your argument, it is what you do best, making stuff up. LOL

Sure... cognitive dissonance is a hard thing to get around. (otherwise known as you have no argument).

But then again, coming from someone who finds political relevance in the opinions of "tribute bands"... what else should we expect?

opie said...

What i take stock in is your desperate attempt to legitimize trump. The fact remains, he can't draw a fly to cow crap, CH. The polls are interesting in that he is the lowest POTUS before taking office in the modern era. You can't BS your way out of that and polls will continue to plummet in spite of your irrational love of him and your claim the sample is biased. LOL

Last time I checked Opie...

Donald Trump is President. Both chambers in Congress are Republican. Two thirds of our Governors are Republican... not to mention that Republicans own the vast majority of State Legislatures on top of all that. All of Trumps nominees will likely be confirmed. The next USSC will be a mainstream Conservative Justice in the mold of Scalia.

The vaunted Clinton Initiative is bankrupt (literally). Democrats are looking at a former Louis Farrakhan disciple to head their Party. The three most mentioned candidate for 2020 (Warren. Biden, and Sanders) will be 71, 78, and 80.

But you have found solace that you have won over the all important "tribute band community"... so you do have that going for you. (snicker)

Seems to me all you can do is speculate, make stuff up to make up for your own and trumps inadequacies. You are becoming like loretta, totally meaningless analogies of they did it first. Cuently, 60% of Americans say the government should be responsible for ensuring health care coverage for all Americans, compared with 38% who say this should not be the government’s responsibility. The share saying it is the government’s responsibility has increased from 51% last year and now stands at its highest point in nearly a decade.

Just as there are wide differences between Republicans and Democrats about the 2010 health care law, the survey also finds partisan differences in views on whether it’s the government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have health care coverage. More than eight-in-ten Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (85%) say the federal government should be responsible for health care coverage, compared with just 32% of Republicans and Republican leaners.

The survey also finds continued differences on this question by race and ethnicity as well as income. A large majority of blacks and Hispanics (85% and 84%, respectively) say the government should be responsible for coverage, while non-Hispanic whites are split on the issue (49% agree, 49% disagree). And while about three-quarters of those with family incomes of less than $30,000 per year (74%) say the government should ensure coverage, only about half (53%) of those with incomes of $75,000 or higher say the same.

58% say Trump will be ‘too impulsive’ making important decisions

Ahead of Donald Trump’s scheduled press conference in New York City on Wednesday, the public continues to give the president-elect low marks for how he is handling the transition process. Most disapprove of the job he has done outlining his plans for the country’s future and there remain widespread concerns about his potential conflicts of interest – though these concerns are somewhat lower than they were a month ago. In addition, Trump is at odds with the public over his tax returns: A wide majority says he has a responsibility to release his tax returns, a step he has yet to take.

The latest national survey by Pew Research Center, conducted Jan. 4-9 among 1,502 adults, finds that 39% approve of the job President-elect Trump has done so far explaining his policies and plans for the future to the American people, while a larger share (55%) say they disapprove. Overall ratings have changed little since December and remain highly partisan: 72% of Republicans and Republican leaners approve of the job he is doing, compared with just 13% of Democrats and Democratic leaners.

A majority of Democrats (59%) are very concerned that Trump’s relationships conflict with his ability to serve the country’s best interests; just 7% of Republicans say the same. Both groups express less concern than they did in December: Democrats are 11 points less likely to say they are very concerned and Republicans are 6 points less likely to say this.

While Trump has yet to release his personal tax returns, the public thinks that he has a responsibility to do so: 60% say this, compared with 33% who say he does not have a responsibility to release his tax returns. By 79% to 17%, more Democrats and Democratic leaners say Trump has a responsibility to release his tax returns than say he does not. Among Republicans and Republican leaners, 38% say he has a responsibility to do this, compared with 53% who say he does not have this responsibility

There are wide demographic differences in views of the job Trump has done so far explaining his plans and policies for the future.

By 62% t0 33%, more women disapprove than approve of the job Trump has done. Among men, about as many say they approve of how Trump has outlined his plans (46%) as disapprove (48%).

By more than two-to-one, blacks (69%-25%) and Hispanics (68%-27%) say they disapprove of the job Trump has done explaining his plans and policies to the American people. Whites are more evenly divided: 46% say they approve, while 49% disapprove.

Clear majorities of those under age 50 say they disapprove of the job Trump has done so far laying out his vision for the country. By contrast, those age 50 and older are about as likely to say they approve of the job Trump has done so far than disapprove.

Across levels of educational attainment, majorities of those with at least some college experience say they disapprove of the job Trump has done so far. Disapproval is especially high among those with a postgraduate degree (72%). By contrast, those with no more than a high school diploma are more positive in their views: 46% say they approve of the job Trump has done to this point, while 47% say they disapprove.

But my point is that in the wake of an election that showed a three point differential between Democrats and Republicans (when most pollster were weighing for something between 6-9)... and in recent affiliation polls that show that Democrats (not Republicans) have lost affiliation since prior to the election...

and that more people are currently identifying as Republican than Democrat.

Just like the models are wrong, when they have been very accurate with their current predictions.

C.H. Truth said...

It doesn't make your point

My main point, Roger... in this post, is that the pollsters are right back to weighing these samples as if there is a huge Democratic affiliation advantage (that currently doesn't exist and didn't exist prior to the election either).

Pew Research's final horse race poll had Trump at 40% and losing by six points. How did that turn out for them?

My secondary point, Roger... is that polling really doesn't matter in the real world. Trump is President. GOP is in control. Democrats have almost no power (their worst political position in nearly a century). And no amount of media polling about tax returns is going to change that.

They did, huh?

Final polling results from some of the pollsters recently quoted:

Pew - Clinton +6
Quinnipiac - Clinton +7
ABC/WashP - Clinton +4
NBC/WSJ - Clinton +4
CBS - Clinton +4

More to the point, you had polling in October by Reuters (+8) Mounmouth (+12) ABC (+12) AP (+14) CNBC (+9) NBC/WSJ (+11)... that were well off the mark, mostly due to the same sort of sampling skew. (only by adjusting the sample did they come in at the 4-6 range that most of them did) - which of course WAS STILL WRONG

Those pollsters were not "correct" - they were all wron

If you tracked my sidebar you would have seen that "my" national vote projection ended up with Clinton winning by approximately 2% (which was within a tenth of a point). That's the spreadsheet "I" create using the internal demographic cross tabs to tabulate an objective average from the twelve pollsters I identified as having consistent reliable cross tabs.

If you read my posts prior to the election, you would have noticed that I also stated that she needed to win by "at least" the 2% to win the electoral college vote.

Either that, or it's just a "bad sample". There is literally no evidence that the country currently has a partisan make up that leans eight points towards Democrats.

The election exit polls showed a three point gap, same as the pre-election Gallup affiliation poll.

The most recent Gallup affiliation poll, however, shows Democrats have lost ground since the election and that Republicans are now three points ahead.

This would certainly seem to be intuitive based on the immature actions of the Democrats since the election...

wouldn't you agree?

What's pointed out in that link is similar to my argument.

These media outlets have two separate types of polls. The ones that they skew to make the point they want to make. Then the ones right before the election where they correct the skew to try to get it right.

Right now, they have no incentive to be "right" because there would be no manner to judge it (such as an actual election). So they will continue to skew, because most people will simply not know the difference (or quite frankly care).

Still waiting on HB to address two issues of his that he has brought to this the Adult side of the CHT Blog.

His issue #1
"Hillary had a better economic plan"

Ok, what was it?

His issue #2
to effectively carry the message to the public. " The Mutt

Ok, Mary, what is that message that was not heard in the 2016?

What I can tell you about Trump is this, your polls do not drive him.

In business as the owner you do what you think is right for the shareholders and to grow the size and wealth of the Company.

It is the CEO's vision that drives the team and production, value in the shares and the dividends of those that invest.

Learn this and you might be smarter.

We'll have to wait and see on that. Trump may wind up signing whatever reaches his desk from Congress, or he may have a significant role in shaping that legislation. He might even be able to forge working partnerships with the other party, much like Clinton and Bush did (but Obama notably did not).

Similarly, we don't know how much authority his cabinet members will have in shaping policy. Perhaps quite a bit. So, maybe Trump knows little about education policy, but DeVos and congressional Republicans put together a new federal education program and Trump just signs it.

Here is some reporting, but not one you like.

Minnesota Senator Al Franken (D) left no doubt which way he will be voting for President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to head the Department of Education, hammering appointee Betsy DeVos for her and her family’s funding on anti-LGBTQ groups and causes.

Noting the Michigan billionaire has no background in the educational field outside of attacking teachers unions, Franken directed his most caustic objections at the way she and her family have attacked the LGBTQ community.

“Mrs. DeVos, your family has a long history of supporting anti-LGBT causes including donating millions of dollars to groups that push conversion therapy, the practice of trying to change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity,” Franken began. “For example, you and your family have given over $10 million to Focus On the Family, an organization that currently states on its website that, ‘homosexual strugglers can and do change their sexual behavior and identity.'”

“Mrs. DeVos, conversion therapy has been widely discredited and rejected for decades by every mainstream medical and mental health organization as neither medically nor ethically appropriate,” the senator continued. “It has been shown to lead to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, and suicide, particularly in LGBT youth. In fact, many of the leaders and founders of conversion therapy, including both religious ministries and mental health professionals, have not only publicly renounced it but have issued formal apologies for their work and how harmful it has been to the individuals involved. Mr. Chairman, I would ask that this be included in the record.”

“Mrs. DeVos, do you still believe in conversion therapy?” he pressed.

Report Advertisement
“Senator Franken, I’ve never believed in that,” DeVos said defensively. “First of all, let me say I fully embrace equality and I believe in the innate value of every single human being and that all students, no matter their age, should be able to attend a school and feel safe and be free of discrimination. So let’s start there and let me just say that your characterization of our contributions I don’t think accurately reflects those of my family. I would hope you wouldn’t include other family members beyond my core family.”

“Well, in terms of throwing numbers around, you said that student debt has increased by 1,000 percent,” Franken stated.

“980 percent in 8 years,” DeVos shot back.

“That’s just not so,” Franken lectured her. “It’s increased 118 percent in the past 8 years. So, I’m just asking if you’re challenging my figures, I would ask that you get your figures straight about education policy and that’s why we want more questions. Because we want to know if this person that we are entrusting to be the secretary of education, if she has the breadth and depth of knowledge that we would expect from someone who has that important job.”

It's time to teach creationism as valid science. Another thing that our esteemed host will find a way to defend it, as with everything else Trump says or does.

The adults are in charge.

1. “We are going to have an unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout for the inauguration, and there will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars. All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration." Hmmmm

2. “Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!”
Not the best way to kick off the New Year Donald…

3. “An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a fraud”
Trump was determined to ‘expose’ President Obama’s birthplace back in 2012, and even claimed to have sent investigators to Hawaii in the hopes of proving Obama wasn’t born in the United States.

4. “Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart. She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again – just watch. He can do much better!”
Clearly Donald is a Team Edward kind of guy…

5. “Ariana Huffington is unattractive, both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man – he made a good decision.”
Trump always has charming things to say about successful, prominent women – but he stooped particularly low with this comment about Huffington Post founder.

6. “Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a Hillary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never “mocked” a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him “groveling” when he totally changed a 16 year old story that he had written in order to make me look bad. Just more very dishonest media!” See that video

9 things you need to know about Melania Trump (plus who she’ll be wearing at the inauguration)This was his response to that Meryl Streep Golden Globes speech… Mature, Trump. As always…

7. “I will build a great wall – and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me – and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”

Oh for goodness sake.

8. “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best. They’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bring crime. They’re rapists… And some, I assume, are good people.”
Just another casually racial slur, then…

9. “Our great African-American President hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore.”
Don’t worry, his racist outbursts aren’t just directed at Mexico.=See Birther nonsense

10. “If I were running ‘The View’, I’d fire Rosie O’Donnell. I mean, I’d look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers, I’d say ‘Rosie, you’re fired.’”
Trump has infamously hated on Rosie O’Donnell, making crude, sexist and misogynistic remarks about her on multiple occasions

11. “All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me – consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.”

Because of course, no woman can resist Trump’s charms. [Throws up on keyboard]

12. “One of they key problems today is that politics is such a disgrace. Good people don’t go into government.”

Well at least he’s showing some self awareness.

13. “The beauty of me is that I’m very rich.”

And not that fabulous barnet of yours?

14. “It’s freezing and snowing in New York – we need global warming!”

Definitely not missing the point…

15. “I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

Possibly (/definitely) one of the creepiest things we’ve ever heard…

"[W]hen you're a star," he said, "they let you do it. You can do anything."

The interview occurred before Trump was set to film a cameo on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, and he said, laughing, that he needed "some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her."

In talking about kissing women, Trump boasted: "I'm automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."

"Grab them by the p****. You can do anything," the Republican nominee continued, using vulgar slang for the female anatomy.

Access Hollywood has this description of the scene:

"There were seven other people on the bus with Mr. Trump and Billy Bush at the time," host Natalie Morales said of the incident, noting that camera crew, Trump's security guard and his publicist were all present. She revealed that Nancy O'Dell, currently Entertainment Tonight co-host, was the woman identified on the tape as "Nancy" that Trump had been captured speaking crassly about."
"I moved on her..."

Trump told Bush — who is the nephew of former President George H.W. Bush and cousin of former President George W. Bush and former 2016 candidate Jeb Bush — about a time he unsuccessfully tried to seduce a married woman.

"I moved on her, and I failed," Trump said. "I'll admit it. I did try and f*** her. She was married." He continued, "I moved on her very heavily."

He said he even took her furniture shopping to try to get her to sleep with him.

Polls showing Donald Trump with a historically low approval rating for an incoming president-elect are not to be trusted, Trump himself wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning.

After all, he wrote, they’re the same polls that suggested for months he would lose last year’s presidential election.

“The same people who did the phony election polls, and were so wrong, are now doing approval rating polls. They are rigged just like before,” Trump wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning.

The post comes on the same morning that two polls, one from CNN and another conducted jointly by ABC News and The Washington Post, showed Trump to be the least popular incoming president in modern history. Trump’s approval rating in the CNN poll released Tuesday sat at just 40 percent, 44 points below the 84 percent that President Barack Obama took office with in 2009.

Just 40 percent of those surveyed by The Washington Post and ABC News said they held a favorable opinion of Trump, by far the lowest of any incoming president dating back at least to President Jimmy Carter’s 1977 inauguration. President Obama entered the White House in 2009 with a 79 percent favorable rating.

Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.), a vice chairman of the Trump transition team’s executive committee, said Tuesday that the president-elect’s regular friction with the press has taken a toll on his poll numbers, but that his popularity is likely to rebound.

“What's actually happening here is the public fight that Mr. Trump is having with CNN and other media groups is taking some skin off his poll numbers and it's gone down,” Duffy said on CNN’s “New Day.”

uh alky...

no one is abridging the freedom of the press. every hack in the msm remains free to write whatever the fuck they want about trump.

what chaps your ass is that the trump administration retains the FREEDOM to call upon the hacks...

...or not.

the administration also retains the FREEDOM to expand the press pool beyond the usual collection of msm hacks, giving more, not less, access to the public, while adding a level of insurance that the reporting on the administration retains a high level of accuracy, facts, and the truth.

the fact of the matter is that trump is doing the exact opposite of what you accuse him of. he's expanding access, not restricting it. and by doing so he's giving the hackish msm some competition for the eyes and ears of the american electorate.

i agree to the extent that trump makes his battles with media hacks public.

he would be shrewd to simply place these assholes on ignore. don't call on them. make believe they aren't even in the room.

make them earn the right, through truthful and accurate reporting, to participate again.

that's not denying them access. that's simply making them sit on the back bench until they understand that being a liberal with a byline no longer has any value to a society that relies on the truth to move forward.

act like a dishonest hack, get treated like a dishonest hack.

President-elect Trump granted the Washington Post an interview Saturday to talk up his goal of replacing Obamacare and cutting taxes.

His reward on Monday: One Post columnist predicted a "hellish" four years for the media under Trump, and another column suggested that Trump is to blame for the fallout of Rep. John Lewis calling him an illegitimate president.

Trump won front page coverage for his interview promise of "insurance for everybody," his pledge to push drug companies to cut prices, and plan to cut corporate and individual taxes.

But elsewhere he was mocked in the paper that has pledged to expand its Trump-watching team.

On top of the Style section, for example, columnist Margaret Sullivan suggested that Trump will abuse the press.

"The short form: hellish," she wrote. "Trump will punish journalists for doing their jobs," she added.

Still more: "So, we can expect President Trump to lie to the media, manipulate reality and go after those who upset the notion that adulation is his birthright."

And in an oped column, it was Trump who was singled out for not reaching out to his critics after Lewis slapped him. Said the oped:

"With his Twitter attack on civil rights icon John Lewis during the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, after Lewis challenged the legitimacy of his election, Trump showed how little interest he has in reaching out to his critics. He made it hard to imagine that he would use his inaugural address, as presidents traditionally have, to bring the country together."

Ignored was Trump's Twitter promise delivered Sunday:

"For many years our country has been divided, angry and untrusting. Many say it will never change, the hatred is too deep. IT WILL CHANGE!!!!"
