In just a few weeks...

we will have a different director of homeland security, a different director of the CIA, a different Director of National Intelligence, and of course a different President of the United States.

What would happen if the new leadership had their own trusted experts took a closer look at the evidence surrounding the hacks of the DNC and the Clinton campaigns... and came to a different conclusion then the current leadership about the who and why of these hacks?

Would the same people who are arguing today that it's unprecedented (apparently they forgot the Iraqi intelligence wars during the Bush administration)  to question the conclusions of the intelligence communities...
  • now agree with the new assessment based on the same argument that it's un-American to question the intelligence community?
  • or would they hypocritically question the new conclusions as being politically motivated?

The reality here folks is that the conclusions of the intelligence community are only as good as the credibility of those in charge. The people appointed to these positions by Barack Obama are no more or no less politically motivated as those who will be appointed by Donald Trump.  If your instinct is to automatically trust one set of leaders, but not the other... then it's partisanship (not logic or American values) that force your opinion on this matter.

Indy - most independent IT security experts are currently questioning the intelligence reports.

At least based on the only report that has been released so far, there is more evidence that the malware and IP addresses suggest it could be almost anyone than there is evidence that it was Russia.

I would withhold my own conclusions until "all" the evidence is released. By all the evidence, I don't mean leaks to the Washington Post suggesting that the Director of National Intelligence is sure. I would suggest strongly that they need to actually release what evidence that they have (above and beyond what they did already release) if they want credibility with the independent private sector IT/Security experts who are the ones questioning it.

It's not okay to release a portion of what you have (that doesn't prove anything) and withhold the rest (which you claim does prove it)... and then just tell people to "trust us".

I doubt anyone would "trust" this sort of action if it was the Trump team doing it.

So... at this point I believe that politics is involved. I think that's a given. The DNC hired their own private firm. That firm is who provided the intelligence community with their findings (the intelligence communities did not examine the servers themselves)... and we have a director (who was appointed by Obama) who is at the helm.

They might be correct... and if you put a gun to my head, I would bet that the Russians did try to hack the DNC, RNC, and the campaigns. I might even guess that the Chinese tried as well. But the problem is that they released information that didn't prove it (and called it proof). That makes people skeptical.

Another way to look at this Indy....

Is when Bush, Blair, Cheney, Powell and gang said that the intelligence showed that Iraq was harboring WMD... and sort of said "trust us". Not everyone did.

I don't recall the same sort of outrage over those politicians and critics who questioned the validity of the intelligence community at that time?

Why the change of principle on this matter? Why should everyone be obligated to accept it today?

Electoral College makes it official: Trump wins presidency

By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER
Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congress certified Donald Trump's presidential victory Friday over the objections of a handful of House Democrats, with Vice President Joe Biden pronouncing, "It is over."

House Democrats objected to the votes from at least 10 states, raising issues of voter suppression as well as American intelligence showing that Russia tried to sway the election in favor of Trump. In each case, their objections were denied because they didn't have the support of any senators.

All 538 electors met in their respective state capitals in December to cast their votes. Friday's vote count made it official. Biden presided over the count in his role as president of the Senate.

Trump finished with 304 electoral votes and Democrat Hillary Clinton got 227. There were seven protest votes for other candidates. It takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidency.

As expected, Mike Pence was elected vice president.

Trump and Pence are to be sworn in on Jan. 20.

As the votes were announced for state after state, Democratic members of the House stood up to object. But in each case, no Democratic senator would join them, and Biden cut them off.

"There can be no debate," Biden said repeatedly.

Under federal law, if at least one senator and one House member object to the vote from any state, the House and Senate will meet separately to debate the merits of the objection.

Toward the end of the count, Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., pleaded for a senator to join her in objecting.

"Is there one United States senator who will join me in this letter of objection?" Waters said to boos from Republicans. None did."

Senior officials in the Russian government celebrated Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton as a geopolitical win for Moscow, according to U.S. officials who said that American intelligence agencies intercepted communications in the aftermath of the election in which Russian officials congratulated themselves on the outcome.

The ebullient reaction among high-ranking Russian officials — including some who U.S. officials believe had knowledge of the country’s cyber campaign to interfere in the U.S. election — contributed to the U.S. intelligence community’s assessment that Moscow’s efforts were aimed at least in part at helping Trump win the White House.

Other key pieces of information gathered by U.S. spy agencies include the identification of “actors” involved in delivering stolen Democratic emails to the WikiLeaks website, and disparities in the levels of effort Russian intelligence entities devoted to penetrating and exploiting sensitive information stored on Democratic and Republican campaign networks.

Those and other data points are at the heart of an unprecedented intelligence report being circulated in Washington this week that details the evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign and catalogues other cyber operations by Moscow against U.S. election systems over the past nine years.

The classified document, which officials said is over 50 pages, was delivered to President Obama on Thursday, and it is expected to be presented to Trump in New York on Friday by the nation’s top spy officials, including Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr. and CIA Director John Brennan.

Some 3,500 troops from the 4th Infantry Division in Fort Carson, Colorado, will join up with the equipment, which includes 87 tanks and 144 Bradley fighting vehicles, over the next two weeks."

We also assess Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him.
from the declassified intelligence report
The election meddling, the intelligence community said, was retaliation for what Putin perceived as U.S. efforts to undermine Russian credibility. Putin viewed the Panama Papers and the Olympic doping scandal as “U.S.-directed efforts to defame Russia,” according to the report. Leaking unflattering emails from U.S. officials was an effort to cast America as hypocritical, officials said.

Putin may have had a particular grudge against Clinton because of what he perceives as her role in inciting protests against his government in 2011 and 2012, according to the report. He also publicly praised Trump’s positions on Syria and Ukraine, while criticizing Clinton’s “aggressive rhetoric.” Huffington Post

As our esteemed host and jack of all trades has said more than once....this CIA report is nothing but speculation and guesses and should not be trusted. Pretty quiet on the trump front which speaks volumes of his lack of honesty. I'm sure there will be push back and it will all be BS, just like everything else he has said.

“When it appeared to Moscow that Secretary Clinton was likely to win the election, the Russian influence campaign began to focus more on undermining her future presidency.”

The fact that Clinton was on track to win led to a ramping up of the effort to work against her, according to this report — further evidence that it was aimed at helping Trump, not just undermining the U.S. election. Clinton looked to be in particularly good shape in early October, when debates were in full swing and a video of Trump making lewd comments about women was reported by The Washington Post. At the time, the leaks picked up.

“Russian intelligence obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple US state or local electoral boards. DHS assesses that the types of systems Russian actors targeted or compromised were not involved in vote tallying.”

They will complain that they did not provide the source data. Oh well, putin is our friend, just ask pauline and assange.

C.H. Truth said...

The report is speculation and guesses... which is why they call it a consensus with a high degree of confidence. If there was smoking gun proof involved, it wouldn't require any degree of semantic hedging. They could just offer the proof and be done with it. As it is they are intercepting congratulatory emails and calling it proof. That's not "real" proof. That's circumstantial.

I "just" talked to a friend of mine who's specialty is security of the data for ERP software... He is by all means very liberal. No partisanship involved. Says the same thing. No way a good hacker left any fingerprints behind, and if there are fingerprints they would be red herring left purposely by the hacker in question to throw people off.

We both agree that the Russians probably try to hack us, as do the Chinese, the Iranians, the Koreans, etc..

Post Election, well you see it, Trump is not a real President, SO Hillary/Stien and the DNC went on a legal public fit. Sued everyone, IF only they did the recounts, surely Hillary won, NOPE In the End she lost votes, OK< next plan, attack all Republican Electors voter intimidation on a scale that had never ever been seen before, FBI/Federal Election Commission and Obama sat on their hands, in hopes the Electors would be "Faithless" and see the Light that is Hillary, in the end she lost the most Electors Ever.

Post Election, the excuses for losing where many, Umah Was the Cause, then it was the weather in some state kept Hillary voters from coming out, then it was Sanders Voters defected, then the Blacks got blamed, the BLM movement was blamed, then it was Hillary's Health, and Bills age caught up with him.

But then, they poll tested the Putin/Russian stole this election meme, and sure enough it poll tested with Liberals well and then it was feed to the Press and off it went, success, IF NOT For the Putin mind bending the US Voter, Hillary would have won.

So now post Biden shouting down the Liberals in the Joint Session to confirm Trump as the next President, the Dems have an issue, Trump did not win, not fairly, not on an even playing field, Putin like an Italian Butcher put his thumb on the scales and stole this Election From Hillary.

Hillary Clinton and cast as the duped Victim of yet another MAN.

The report constitutes, allegedly, the long-awaited proof that Russia (specifically, Vladimir Putin) meddled in the 2016 presidential election by, most notably, hacking into email accounts of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta and distributing emails from those accounts to Wikileaks and others.

Does the report prove that claim? No, it merely states it. There is zero evidence in the report tying the Russian government (or anyone else) to the crude spearfishing effort or to the generic, out-of-date malware that invaded the DNC’s and Podesta’s email systems. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

A massive ice block nearly 100 times the area of Manhattan is poised to break off Antarctica's Larsen C ice shelf, scientists reported Friday.

A slow-progressing rift suddenly grew by 18 kilometres (11 miles) at the end of December, leaving the finger-shaped chunk—350 metres thick—connected along only a small fraction of its length.
The rift has also widened, from less than 50 metres (160 feet) in 2011 to nearly 500 metres today.
"If it doesn't go in the next few months, I'll be amazed," said Adrian Luckman, a professor at Swansea University in Wales, and leader of Britain's Project Midas, which tracks changes in West Antarctic ice formations.
By itself, the soon-to-be iceberg will not add to sea levels, the likely consequence of ice sheet disintegration that most worries scientists.
The real danger is from inland glaciers, held in place by the floating, cliff-like ice shelves that straddle land and sea.
The fragile West Antarctic ice sheet—where Larsen C is located—holds enough frozen water to raise global oceans by at least four metres (13 feet).
Recent studies have suggested that climate change may already have condemned large chunks of it to disintegration, though whether on a time scale of centuries or millennia is not known.
The breaking off, or calving, of ice shelves is a natural process, but global warming is thought to have accelerated the process.
Warming ocean water erodes their underbelly, while rising air temperatures weaken them from above.
The nearby Larsen A ice shelf collapsed in 1995, and Larsen B dramatically broke up seven years later.
The ice block currently separating from Larsen C contains about 10 percent of its mass, and would be among the 10 largest break-offs ever recorded, Luckman said.
If all the ice held back by Larsen C entered the sea, it would lift global oceans by about 10 centimetres (four inches).
"We are convinced—although others are not—that the remaining ice shelf will be less stable than the present one," Luckman said in a statement.
Oceans in recent decades have absorbed much of the excess heat generated by climate change, which has lifted average global air temperatures by one degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit).
The world's nations have undertaken in the Paris Agreement, inked in the French capital in December 2015, to cap global warming at "well under" two degrees Celsius (3.5 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial era levels.

Actually it's not that difficult to have a pretty good "idea" about what they do and do not have. They released a Homeland Security Report that was touted as evidence of their findings. It was torn to shreds by the private cyber-security industries as more proving the opposite as proving what they claim it did.

Keeping in mind that our Secretary of State ran her secured emails through a server in someone's bathroom, and our President refused to give up his unsecured blackberry... There is no real reason to believe that our current Government has some "hidden" degree of sophistication that they are not willing to let the general public know about.

I make my assertions based on the evidence that they have provided to date. You make your assertions based on the speculation that they simply must have more that they are not telling us about. It boils down to your own degree of trust in some behind the scenes high level competency of the Government that most conservatives simply do not believe exists.

So perhaps we cannot know for sure what they do or don't have. But to assume that they are hiding their real evidence seems sort of naive and shows a childish deference to some unknown high level "expertise" of the Government... and quite frankly a blind trust that "because I said so" is a good enough reason to believe them.

75% of Americans don’t want Obamacare repealed without an alternative
Melody Hahm 20 hours ago
President Barack Obama challenged Republicans on Friday to present a feasible alternative to Obamacare instead of blindly adopting the “repeal and delay” strategy.

And it turns out the vast majority of Americans may agree with Obama.

Only one in five Americans supports flat-out repealing Obama’s 2010 Affordable Care Act, according to a new survey conducted by the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation. Of the 1,204 US adults surveyed, 75% either oppose the repeal entirely or want to keep the law until the details of a replacement plan emerge.

Americans, however unhappy they may be with Obamacare, would rather know their alternatives before tossing their coverage — however costly — completely out the window.

This isn’t the only poll to suggest Americans aren’t on board with killing Obamacare now. Republican Congresswoman — and a passionate Obamacare foe — Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) took to Twitter (TWTR) on Wednesday to conduct her own poll on Obamacare, asking whether people supported the repeal of Obamacare, likely anticipating that many would vote to repeal the legislation. Nearly 8,000 people voted and the overwhelming majority — 84% — voted no.

President Obama considers the ACA one of his administration’s hallmark achievements, and has been spending his last days in office urging fellow Democrats not to “rescue” Republicans by helping them pass replacement measures.

Though there have been vocal and vehement opponents to the ACA, including Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence, the law’s opponents have yet to come up with a replacement.

Apart from its impact on consumers, the act of repealing the ACA without a replacement would also have dire business consequences. The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget published a report this week warning the full repeal of the ACA would cost up to $350 billion over the next decade and leave 23 million people uninsured.

The report suggests “any changes to the ACA should reduce, not increase, the unsustainable growth in the federal debt. Savings from repealing parts of the ACA must be large enough to not only finance repeal of any of ACA’s offsets, but also to pay for whatever ‘replace’ legislation is put forward.”

Meanwhile, 50 states would suffer job losses and sharp reductions in business output without Obamacare, predicted a separate study conducted by the nonpartisan Commonwealth Fund and GWU’s Milken Institute School of Public Health. In total, scrapping Obamacare could cost 3 million people jobs and trigger economic disruption, according to that study.

The report’s lead author, Leighton Ku, explained to NPR why the ACA is so tied up with the larger economy: “The payments you make to health care then become income for workers and income for other businesses. And this spreads out. Health care is almost a fifth of the US economy, so as you begin to change health care, there are repercussions that go across all sectors.”

I just read the unclassified version, the vast majority of which is concerned with Russian propaganda efforts with their rt dot com media and internet trolls. Belaboring the obvious.

The report does not identify the individuals involved with hacking emails and electoral boards, but does imply that the Russian State had access to that data.

The report, being obviously factual in regard to propaganda, is clearly not a political witch-hunt. Those building a controversy about it, alleging that "Russia hacked the election" on the basis of this intelligence, ARE being political. The question I have to ask is, is it actually wrong or detrimental for foreign states to to voice preferences for our candidates, or to try to influence public opinion? As long as we are all free to exercise our own judgment and make our own decisions, I don't see the problem with it.

Well, for myself , no, freely expose both canidates which happened, I am sure their is nothing we do not know about Trump or Hillary.

Next, I asked and have not found a group of voters that changed their vote because of the news-data-spin on the Clinton-Pedesta emails.

I do recall, that the Liberals here were crowing like a Rooster at sunrise about all the early voting, how so many Hispanics/Blacks (assuming that helped Hillary) had already gone .

I also recall that the Three Liberal Stooges told us, without a doubt Hillary would not be in any way, shape or form hurt by the Emails being released by Wiki-Leaks.

So sure Hillay had this already, she all but stopped campaigning after the Last Debate. Except for fund raising in NY State and CA.

Post Election both Sanders and Biden and Obama blame Hillary Clinton for the loss. All three blame the DNC and Hillary .
Biden:

"Vice President Biden offered a blunt diagnosis for why his party was unable to win over voters who gravitated to Donald Trump in the end: “We didn’t talk to them.”

In his strongest comments yet on why Hillary Clinton lost the election, the outgoing veep who prides himself on his blue-collar roots in Scranton, Pa., said his party failed to connect with working-class, largely white, voters. Speaking in an extensive interview with the Los Angeles Times, Biden warned that “a bit of elitism” has “crept in” to party thinking and urged a change."

Sanders:

“What he did was appeal to a lot of angst and anxiety, and unhappiness in America, in terms of what’s happening to working families,” he said.

“There are millions of families in this country where people are working two or three jobs, where people can’t afford childcare, they can’t afford to send their kids to college, they’ve seen their jobs go to China or Mexico. They’re hurting.”

The Democrats have become “more concerned about raising money from wealthy individuals than they have been about bringing working people into the party and taking on the billionaire class, taking on Wall Street, the drug companies or the insurance companies,” he said.

“The Democratic Party has not been strong in standing up for working families.”

Really, The Three Liberal Stooges here, tell us, that all is well.

CNN's Michael Smerconish -- who expressed frustration that the presented evidence was heavily classified -- told Hayden the report left him "wanting more." Hayden said he "had the same sense of disappointment," though he "probably had a little more understanding as to why it was a brick short of a load."
However, Hayden insisted, "an awful lot of the things we know can't be shared, because we need to keep going back to this well in the future, Michael, to learn things to keep America safe."
Hayden also urged the American people to have faith in the US intelligence community, even if the details weren't clear.
"When you've got the community coming together and giving 'high confidence' judgments to these things ... I certainly have confidence that that's a true story that was put out there, even though I haven't been able to see the fine print," he said.
Hayden warned against a partisan reading of the report in light of Trump's attempts to downplay Russia's role in the election, including calling the investigation a "political witch hunt."

Again, it seems women are the ones in danger of losing rights, but hell, they are only half the population and apparently many don't care if this prevails. Oh well, not my problem since it appears 1/2 of white women voted against their own best interest.

his crusade against Planned Parenthood in particular – and reproductive rights in general – is misogynistic, archaic and counterproductive. Good people can disagree on the morality of abortion, but women have had the right to choose for more than 40 years and polls show the vast majority of Americans want to keep it that way.

In the name of placating evangelicals in their base and attacking one of Democrats’ favored organizations, congressional Republicans have singled out a health care provider that annually serves 2.5 million sometimes desperate humans. About nine in 10 Planned Parenthood clients come for services that have nothing to do with pregnancy termination. Eight in 10 are on Medicaid; many of the rest have no insurance.

Donald J Trump is a KGB spy.

First, a history refresher: For the past nine years, a smattering of Americans, most recently led by our now president-elect, have insisted that Barack Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya.

For years, Donald Trump was unrelenting in his insistence that Obama prove beyond existing proof that he was born in Hawaii and not in the African country of his biological father. That Obama said he is a Christian wasn’t enough to persuade Trump’s followers, who apparently know a Christian when they see one.

Further, there is no logical basis for assuming that a young person briefly raised in a given country — say, Indonesia — necessarily would adopt the dominant religion of that country. He might, however, observe that though people worship in different ways, we’re all essentially the same. Never mind the cruel and absurd assumption that being a Muslim means that one is, ipso facto, a “bad person.”

Respecting others despite differences is, generally speaking, the hallmark of an enlightened soul, as well as a desirable disposition in a leader. Yet, those who sided with Trump interpreted Obama’s gentle touch toward the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims as evidence of a hidden agenda to advance Islam in the United States — notwithstanding Obama’s rather robust drone operations, which eliminated quite a few bad actors who happened to be, or said they were, Muslims.

Noteworthy is that these same Obama doubters weren’t bestirred to suspicion when then-President George W. Bush visited a mosque immediately after 9/11. Nor, thus far, have they expressed any concern about Trump’s cavalier approach to Russia’s cyberattack on the United States.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Given this history and recent evidence, isn’t it about time Trump be declared a Russian spy?

No, I don’t really think he’s a spy because, unlike the man himself, I’m not given to crazy ideas. But what’s with this double standard? Under similar circumstances, how long do you think it would have taken for Obama to be called a traitor for defending a country that tried to thwart our democratic electoral process?

Seconds.

How surreal to realize that the man who soon will become president was long committed to a rumor soaked in paranoia and propagated by conspiracy theorists whose pursuit of truth stops at the point where facts and willful ignorance collide.

How perfectly terrifying.

And now? What is so obviously a conspiracy of Russian leadership, hackers and spies, Trump has repeatedly dismissed as lousy intelligence. Why would he do such a thing? Is it that he’s so thin-skinned he can’t tolerate anyone thinking that he might have benefited from the cyberattack? Or is it that he knew about it in advance and doesn’t want to be found out? This is how conspiracy theories get started. Then again, sometimes a conspiracy is just a conspiracy — and a fool is just a fool.

Consider what we know: Our best intelligence indicates that Russia was behind the hacking of the Democratic National Committee. Trump, who has long expressed admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin (once a KGB agent, always a KGB agent), has his doubts.

In a span of about 80 minutes on Friday morning, President-elect Donald Trump signaled what Congress and the American public may have in store for the next four years.

From 6:19 a.m. to 7:42 a.m., Mr. Trump posted six messages on Twitter in which he criticized the media, tweaked a promise to pay for a border wall and derided Arnold Schwarzenegger for a TV ratings flop—on a show that Mr. Trump himself is producing.

It may have been par for the course for candidate Trump, but it capped an extraordinary first week of a new Republican-controlled Congress eager to do business with President-elect Trump, who in turn got a taste for what life will be like in the nation’s capital as the 45th president two weeks from now.

It was a study in contrasts. Mr. Trump’s rapid-fire missives about an assortment of topics clashed with typical Washington political tactics that prioritize message discipline and avoiding overexposure.WSJ

In Kansas during the last drought this State encouraged the digging of new ponds to hold more water and for digging existing ponds deeper. I did the latter and added over 1 million gallons of "saved water" for use by my cattle, by wild life like mygrating ducks, geese and common birds.

Pants on Fire
Written by: Miriam Valverde

President-elect Donald Trump continues to question whether the Russian government tried to interfere in the U.S. election. Trump has said it could have been China who hacked emails of Democratic operatives and the Democratic National Committee. Or someone "sitting on their bed who weighs 400 pounds."

And if it is the Russians, why did the White House wait so long to act? Trump asked on Twitter.

"If Russia, or some other entity, was hacking, why did the White House wait so long to act? Why did they only complain after Hillary lost?" Trump tweeted early Dec. 15.

See Figure 1 on PolitiFact.com
Only that’s not true. The administration announced its findings a month before Election Day, and the White House’s announcement prompted a memorable exchange at the final presidential debate.

Who’s the puppet?

On Oct. 7 — a few months after WikiLeaks released a trove of DNC emails, but the same day WikiLeaks released emails of Hillary Clinton campaign chair John Podesta — President Barack Obama’s administration said it was confident Russia was behind the cyberattacks.

"The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations," read an Oct. 7 joint statement from the Department of Homeland Security and Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The U.S. Intelligence Community consists of 17 agencies and organizations within the executive branch, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence speaks on the group’s behalf.

Their statement said releases of alleged hacked emails on DCLeaks.com and Wikileaks and by the online persona Guccifer 2.0 were "consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts."

"These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process," the statement said. "Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized these activities."

Clinton used the statement as ammo when she referred to Trump as Putin’s preferred "puppet" in the Oct. 19 presidential debate. ("No puppet, you’re the puppet," Trump replied.) When Clinton brought up the intelligence community’s statement, Trump said, "She has no idea whether it is Russia, China or anybody else."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Post-election doubts

After the election, Trump has been just as dismissive about Russian involvement.

Regarding Russia’s involvement in the DNC email hack, Trump told Time magazine (which named him Person of the Year), "I don’t believe it. I don’t believe they interfered."

On Dec. 12, Trump also questioned the timing of concerns about election-related hacks, tweeting, "Unless you catch ‘hackers’ in the act, it is very hard to determine who was doing the hacking. Why wasn't this brought up before election?"

Republican and Democratic leaders have raised concerns about Russia’s role in the election and have called for a congressional investigation.

According to a New York Times investigation, Obama warned Putin about the cyberhacking and potential U.S. retaliation in person at the G-20 summit in China.

The administration, however, chose to issue the joint written statement from Homeland Security and the national intelligence director rather than a more public rebuke from Obama. "It was far less dramatic than the president’s appearance in the press room two years before to directly accuse the North Koreans of attacking Sony," the New York Times noted.

Obama was aware of Russian hackers previously targeting the State Department, White House and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the New York Times reported, but he chose not to publicly call out Russians or issue sanctions out of "fear of escalating a cyberwar, and concern that the United States needed Russia’s cooperation in negotiations over Syria."

Our ruling

Trump tweeted, "If Russia, or some other entity, was hacking, why did the White House wait so long to act? Why did they only complain after Hillary lost?"

About a month before the Nov. 8 election, the Obama administration accused Russia of interfering in the U.S. elections, directing the release of emails "from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations."

This didn’t happen under the radar. Trump was confronted with it at the final presidential debate.
For a ridiculously wrong statement, we rate it Pants on Fire!

Democrats wage anti-Trump offensive for their own gain

There are no modern precedents to the scandalous attempts to smear and undermine the president-elect. Nearly nine weeks after his victory and less than two weeks before he takes the oath, the voter-nullification plot is growing more vile.

It began when the Clinton campaign and her donors tried to overturn results in key states, then tried to steal the election outright by intimidating electors of the Electoral College.

When all that failed, the establishment forces that opposed Trump all along — the Obama White House, members of both parties, the Democratic media and Big Government activists — switched their goal to thwarting his presidency. One example: They aim to deny confirmation to as many as eight Cabinet picks.

This is not mere politics. This is half the country going rogue in a fit of madness.

Most alarming is the newest recruit to the confederacy. The intelligence community, including leaders of the FBI and CIA, is pushing the Russian hacking narrative in unscrupulous ways.

Consider that the same media organizations that led the campaign assault on Trump were leaked details of the hacking report before Trump saw it.

The leaks came after Trump expressed doubts about Russia’s role and any election impact. Lest the rookie miss the message, Chuck Schumer, the Dems’ man in the Senate, made like a Soprano in a TV interview: “Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.”

Rogue fit of madness pretty much describes Roger and Opie.

KD, CA Requirements for Rain said...

CA changed the law to allow its nanny dumb ass citizens to collect rain, but, with a massive cost.

1, Rain barrel with required lid, State Approved cost $100
2, Rain is not to be used to drink. OMG stupid
3, Rain barrel can only be installed with a contractor skooled in cutting a down spout, skooled on how to redirect the rain into a Barrel and contractors must be certified by the state to do the work.

Like RRB said , this is at best a 30 minute DYI project. at a cost of less then $10 bucks and maybe $25 for the barrel (mine cost nothing, they are heavy blue plastic, free on craigs list)

So to collect 55 gallons the CA nanny nippler will spend $100 for the Barrel and another $150 for the Contractor.

Since you had your ass kicked again and no apology admitting you were wrong, now you complain there are costs to set up a collection system. Shocking that a plastic barrel costs money. And I'd bet you are not smart enough to not drink the water and need guidance to protect you from yourself. No different than seat belts in a car. You remain an idiot!!!

But Lund seems to suspect that Californians' ardor for rainwater capture is throwing off their judgment – and he offers “back of the envelope” calculations to prove it. Given that rain barrels cost $100 and store only around 50 gallons at a time, by the traditional water measurement of acre-feet (an acre-foot is the amount of water it would take to cover one acre of land with one foot of water, enough for about 2-3 households), he argues, rain barrels are expensive relative to other options.

He places the cost of an acre-foot of rain barrel water at $652,000, compared with only $2,000 an acre-foot as an estimated cost for expanding storage capacity at large upstream dams. Lund continues:

For a typical home in coastal California, the annual pattern of storms might allow filling and emptying a 50-gallon cistern one to three times (with considerable overflow possible each time), yielding 50 to 150 gallons a year – less than 0.1 percent of a household’s annual water use in California. For inland homes, the actual water produced would be much less because the rain barrel is capturing runoff that likely would have been used by others downstream anyway.

His verdict on the economics of rain barrel water? “Unattractive.”

CNN)The US intelligence community concluded that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an "influence campaign" to harm Hillary Clinton's chances of winning the 2016 election.

The declassified reported, released Friday, determined with "high confidence" that Russia's interference -- consisting of hacking Democratic groups and individuals and releasing that information via third-party websites, including WikiLeaks -- helped President-elect Donald Trump win the election.
Here are some of the highlights from the report.
1. Goal was to undermine US faith in democratic process
"We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia's goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump."
2. Effort was ordered by Putin
"We assess that influence campaigns are approved at the highest levels of the Russian government - particularly those that would be politically sensitive."
3. Putin's grudge
"Putin most likely wanted to discredit Secretary Clinton because he has publicly blamed her since 2011 for inciting mass protests against his regime in late 2011 and early 2012, and because he holds a grudge for comments he almost certainly saw as disparaging him."
4. A 'significant escalation'
"Russian efforts to influence the 2016 US presidential election represent the most recent expression of Moscow's longstanding desire to undermine the US-led liberal democratic order, but these activities demonstrated a significant escalation in directness, level of activity, and scope of effort compared to previous operations."
5. Paid social media trolls
"Moscow's influence campaign followed a Russian messaging strategy that blends covert intelligence operations -- such as cyberactivity -- with overt efforts by Russian government agencies, state-funded media, third-party intermediaries and paid social media users or 'trolls.'"
6. #DemocracyRIP
"Before the election, Russian diplomats had publicly denounced the US electoral process and were prepared to publicly call into question the validity of the results. ProKremlin bloggers had prepared a Twitter campaign, #DemocracyRIP, on election night in anticipation of Secretary Clinton's victory, judging from their social media activity."
7. Russian media involvement
"Russian media hailed President-elect Trump's victory as a vindication of Putin's advocacy of global populist movements - the theme of Putin's annual conference for Western academics in October 2016 -- and the latest example of Western liberalism's collapse."
8. Beyond the US
"Moscow will apply lessons learned from its Putin-ordered campaign aimed at the US presidential election to future influence efforts worldwide, including against US allies and their election processes."
9. Other US targets
"We assess Russian intelligence services will continue to develop capabilities to provide Putin with options to use against the United States, judging from past practice and current efforts. Immediately after Election Day, we assess Russian intelligence began a spearphishing campaign targeting US government employees and individuals associated with US think tanks and NGOs in national security, defense, and foreign policy fields."
10. Putin and WikiLeaks
"In early September, Putin said publicly it was important the DNC data was exposed to Wikileaks, calling the search for the source of the leaks a distraction and denying Russian 'state-level' involvement."

Neither one twit.
