Bottom line: Multi-agency investigation of Donald Trump authorized

Whatever semantics people want to argue... the reality (confirmed by Comey) is that there were investigations into Donald Trump regarding campaign collusion. These investigations included intercepted communications of Trump and three of his associates (many from during the campaign). These communications were illegally leaked to the media

Imagine if Trump and his administration were to do that to the 2020 Democratic nominee.

And the e-mails were illegally hacked, but trump praised wikileaks with his love for the dripping of the data. Can't have it both ways especially with trump chanting lock her up while he was being investigated himself...i for one think that he got away with it not being released as it should have.

Paul Manafort resigned as Trump’s campaign manager in August after his name surfaced next to payments totaling $12.7 million in a registry of secret payments from the Party of Regions called the “black ledger.” Manafort has denied receiving those payments.

And you think trump is clean and all this news is fake... Maybe you should write an amicus letter to comey expressing your disdain of all this dirt. I'm sure he would care....

The second is garden variety larceny.

The first is a gross betrayal of government trust and authority.

Can you guess which one is more serious?

ironically, the gross betrayal of government trust and authority is how we got trump to begin with.

nothing pisses away government trust and authority more than catching a democrat presidential candidate red handed, having her dead to rights for conviction, and then letting her walk.

no reasonable individual trusts our government to get things right or to follow the law anymore.

FBI Comey said they have been investigating Trump - Russians since June.

Ok, what would include wiretapping, computer hacking and other means of data collection by the FBI on Trump and the Russians.

Cool job Comey and not to leak that before the Election but did state openly the Clinton Investigations, well, that is priceless.

Thank FBI Director for all of your help.

first of all it was 6 - 3. second, charges were dropped when they figured out that liddy, et. al. tried to discredit ellsberg.

and finally, we're in a situation where members of the press have virtually unfettered ability to break national security laws in the name of the first amendment to get their story. a perilous trade off but one that we're willing to make. and as long as the person who gets killed or imprisoned is not the journalist themselves, the mainstream media just doesn't care.

a license to break the law is almost impossible to come by, but if you want one, go to j-school.

The Oncoming Storm
We have been exposed in the last week, the most bizarre Presidency in the history of the United States.

The FBI and the Department of Justice said there is no evidence of wiretapping in the Trump Tower. He accused his predecessor in the White House of illegal wiretapping and said it was like Watergate.
FBI Director said that a criminal investigation into possible collusion between the Russian Government and the Trump campaign team, of the President himself It is unlikely that if there was collusion, that Mr Trump would not be aware of it. Criminal investigations are complex and time consuming. Hundreds of people would be interviewed, and if there was something gong on, key witnesses would be given the chance between a short or no imprisonment for cooperation to get higher ups.
The President's Credibility: The tweets are being seen in our allies, as something to be worried about. They know that the attacks on President Obama are false and they wonder each morning to see what kind of erratic tweet will be posted. He is effectively made himself incapable of working with allies, or to counter actions on nations like North Korea. It is becoming more and more dangerous to our allies in Japan and South Korea, and perhaps even the United States. The Chinese are resisting all of our attempts to get then to step in, and because Mr Trump is so erratic they are even less likely to help us contain the threat.
Judge Neil Gorsuch made two comments in regard to President Trump He was asked how he would act, if the President asked him if he would overturn Roe V Rade. He said "I would walk out of the room" When he was asked about the comments President Trump's negative comments on the judges in the superior court, he said he was "embarrassed" and commented on the fact that he's a judge on a superior court, the insults by the President made him obviously upset.
Even the Wall Street Journal noted the fact that the President is a serial liar.
If President Trump announces that North Korea launched a missile that landed within 100 miles of Hawaii, would most Americans believe him? Would the rest of the world? We’re not sure, which speaks to the damage that Mr. Trump is doing to his Presidency with his seemingly endless stream of exaggerations, evidence-free accusations, implausible denials and other falsehoods.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The latest example is Mr. Trump’s refusal to back off his Saturday morning tweet of three weeks ago that he had “found out that [Barack] Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory” on Election Day. He has offered no evidence for his claim, and a parade of intelligence officials, senior Republicans and Democrats have since said they have seen no such evidence.

Yet the President clings to his assertion like a drunk to an empty gin bottle, rolling out his press spokesman to make more dubious claims. Sean Spicer—who doesn’t deserve this treatment—was dispatched last week to repeat an assertion by a Fox News commentator that perhaps the Obama Administration had subcontracted the wiretap to British intelligence.

The President of the United States has to be credible. Mr Trump is not credible. He will not be able to work with anyone. In his meetings with the congressmen, he threatened them if they did not support the Ryan law. One of he Freedom Caucus members spoke to the press today and dismissed the threat. That's unusual How often do they speak out against the President of his own party? He is going to lead his party down to a reverse of the 2010 change in the congress. if they don't find a way to get rid of him,

If he is found out to have worked with the Russians, a hostile country, he may be liable to be charged with a felony for covering up the contact. Or he could be charged with Treason, for working to discredit the electoral system that has brought us a peaceful transfer of power for 240 years. And on top of that, he's a threat to the nation and even possibly the world. I don't expect the regulars on this blog, they dislike me, and sometimes I earn it. But I'm right on this , I have no doubt.

North Korea missile test ends in failure as projectile "explodes within seconds" of launch

Sooner or later we may have to go to war with North Korea. The only question is do we do it before North Korea can launch nuclear missiles at Hawaii and the US west coast or wait until Honolulu and San Francisco are smoking ruins?

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

my trust in government under either party is strained at best under the GOP, and completely shot at worst under democrats. and that's largely because under either i would prefer less government, not more, as i consider myself to be someone who can actually leave my house each day without the assistance of the nanny state.

"The freedom of the press is, in my opinion, the freedom should never be restricted by the the government."

huh. well good for you. i find it interesting that you would give such broad protection to a media elite while affording no such protection to your garden variety free market capitalist. both of whom it can be said are motivated by a basic human trait - greed.

in the case of the journalist it's greed for that scoop of a story no one else has yet. and the lure of a pulitzer from that journalists mutual admiration society. a life might be ruined, or even ended, but hey, the reporter gets a shiny trophy for their mantle so all is well, right?

i suppose it depends upon your perspective and level of cynicism. you see journalists as pure seekers and purveyors of truth. i see them as raw and greedy opportunists chasing what many of us desire - $$$ and recognition. they're crude, corrupt, and in pursuit of their version of the truth that satisfies their agenda. they just happen to exist within a system of laws that affords them legal protection for their corruption.

it's been said around here by myself and others that had nixon been a democrat watergate would never have happened. when one looks at our msm with an objective eye, it's hard not to believe otherwise.

"You keep saying the government, should be able to declare a law essential for the safety of the country. And throw a Fake News rep in prison."

i've said no such thing. i'm satisfied to acknowledge that a j-school degree affords its recipient the power to corrupt, the power to lie with impunity, and the power to line their pockets at the expense of national security. it's a deal with the devil, but a deal nonetheless that we made a long time ago. it just turns out that our constitution is often a suicide pact. i can accept that without always agreeing with it or liking it.

Heard a very interesting statistic concerning voters who vote against their best interests. Seems that trump won Pa by 44k votes, a very narrow margin. It also seems, that trump care will eliminate medicaid for roughly 600k Pa residents. Wonder what they are thinking now???? Votes have consequences and the weak minded trump voters are going to get it up their asses. Oh well, no one to blame but themselves...But, rat will be happy getting all the leeches off his hard earn tax dollars.

Nope, wrong again buffalo breath.

Block-grant Medicaid to the states. Nearly every state already offers benefits beyond what is required in the current Medicaid structure. The state governments know their people best and can manage the administration of Medicaid far better without federal overhead. States will have the incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources.

Without the "federal overhead" means a net increase of actual Medicaid funds go to the state.

And Medicaid funds are completely in control of state and local governments.

That's a win win.

Commonsense said...

Also we can only hope 600K go off Medicaid.

Because that means for the first time in eight years they are gainfully employed and can afford a great private health plan.

Yep. You and those voters are that stupid to do that. BTW trump won by 44k, not 600k. Doesn't take much to conclude that there are many idiotic voters in this country, even a drunk like you can see that, losing medicaid could be a bad thing for those supporters. Cue another sophomoric comment.

Nunes: Trump transition members were under surveillance during Obama administration

Members of the Donald Trump transition team, possibly including Trump himself, were under U.S. government surveillance following November’s presidential election, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told reporters Wednesday.

Nunes said the surveillance appeared to be legal but that he was concerned because it was not related to the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in the election and was widely disseminated across the intelligence community.

I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show that the president-elect and his team were, I guess, at least monitored,” Nunes told reporters. “It looks to me like it was all legally collected, but it was essentially a lot of information on the president-elect and his transition team and what they were doing.”

Nunes said he is heading to the White House later Wednesday to brief Trump on what he has learned, which he said came from “sources who thought that we should know it.” He said he was trying to get more information by Friday from the FBI, CIA and NSA.

Nunes described the surveillance as most likely being “incidental collection.” This can occur when a person inside the United States communicates with a foreign target of U.S. surveillance. In such cases, the identities of U.S. citizens are supposed to be kept secret — but can be “unmasked” by intelligence officials under certain circumstances.

Nunes said his new information appears to show that additional members of the Trump transition team — beyond former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn — were unmasked. This means they were identified in U.S. intelligence reports.

He said the information that he had seen and was disseminated across the intelligence community appeared to him to have "little or no apparent intelligence value."
