FBI is continuing the investigation the possible connections between the Russians and the Trump campaign.

There is no timeline on the investigation.

Still waiting on the alleged wiretapping program made by the President.

The FBI does not have any information on the alleged wiretapping.

The former President did not have the authority to order wiretapping.

We do not have any information supporting the allegations by President Trump in the tweets.

No evidence of illegal wiretapping.

If our President does not withdraw the tweets, we should ask for a criminal investigation.

President Obama did not ask British cooperation in wiretapping.

Story highlights
Two weeks ago, President Donald Trump accused President Barack Obama of wiretapping him during the campaign
Those claims will be a part of a House Intelligence Committee hearing on Monday

(CNN)The bizarre saga of President Donald Trump's claims that he was wiretapped by President Barack Obama last year reaches a dramatic climax Monday with FBI Director James Comey's testimony to the House Intelligence Committee.

It's a moment of political theater that could end in humiliation for Trump, with Comey expected to say that there was no wiretapping, debunking allegations that Trump has repeatedly refused to withdraw.
The hearing could also shed light on the state of FBI investigations into the extent of Russian meddling in the election campaign. Republicans hope Comey will state that there is no evidence of collusion between Trump aides and officials from Moscow, a move that could begin to break up a cloud of Russian intrigue that has stifled the early weeks of the administration.
RELATED: Comey hearing under way before House Intelligence Committee
Trump was trying to shift attention away from the wiretapping claims in a series of Monday morning tweets.
"James Clapper and others stated that there is no evidence Potus colluded with Russia. This story is FAKE NEWS and everyone knows it!" Trump wrote shortly after 6:30 a.m. ET, followed by: "The Democrats made up and pushed the Russian story as an excuse for running a terrible campaign. Big advantage in Electoral College & lost!"

Impeachment first requires the House Judiciary to decide to proceed with the process. There is little indication that any Republicans in the House Judiciary committee would benefit or want to proceed with this process.

Then majority in the House to agree that the charges warrant the impeachment. However, an impeachment is similar to an indictment. If a President is impeached, it actually doesn't hold any consequences. It just means he will stand "trial" for the charges.

Senate then holds a "trial" over the articles of impeachment. To be declared guilty of the impeachment would require 67 Senate votes.

Even when President Clinton openingly admitted that he lied to federal investigators and admitted that he obstructed Justice by trying to get Lewinski to sign false affidavits (basically admitting to two of the articles of impeachment)... there were not 67 Senator who would convict him.

These are not decided by a Judge, jury, or anyone else. This is decided by partisan politicians who generally put Party first.

FBI Director Comey: Justice Dept. has no information that supports Trump’s tweets alleging he was wiretapped by Obama

FBI Director James B. Comey on Monday said there is “no information” that supports President Trump’s claims that his predecessor ordered surveillance of Trump Tower during the election campaign.

“I have no information that supports those tweets,’’ said Comey, testifying at the House Intelligence Committee’s first public hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 campaign. “We have looked carefully inside the FBI,’’ and agents found nothing to support those claims, he said.

The hearing comes amid the controversy fired up by Trump more than two weeks ago when he tweeted, without providing evidence, that President Barack Obama had ordered his phones tapped at Trump Tower.

Under questioning from the top Democrat on the panel, Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.), Comey said no president could order such surveillance. He added that the Justice Department had asked him to also tell the committee that that agency has no such information, either.

well captain logic, that would be because it IS an allegation, and not 'factual' in any sense.

you just can't stand it when someone from our team uses leftist tactics against leftists.

trump can allege until the cows come home that 0linsky was behind an investigation into the trump campaign. trump can allege that YOU were behind it if he wants to. it's an allegation. nothing more, nothing less.

kinda like the recent allegation from liberals that seniors will starve to death if trump kills meals on wheels. it's not true. not even close, once a person understands how MOW is actually funded. but it makes for good partisan hyperbole, so they said it anyway. or better yet, one of your personal faves - how 24 million americans will "lose" health insurance if the ACA is overturned. to paraphrase jonah goldberg - technically a soldier "loses" barracks housing once they leave the military. but that doesn't make them homeless.

see how this works?

The Comey hearing was by far the most significant, with the two most significant takeaways being:

1. The FBI considers evidence of criminal Russian interference in the 2016 election to be significant enough to warrant an investigation. This albatross is just not going to go away, no matter how much the Trumpublicans want it to.

2. Trump's "wiretapping" allegation is completely baseless, the product of a disturbed, paranoid, conspiracist mind fed nothing but fake news from the Brannon-Breitbart echo chamber. It shows a disconnect with reality and probable mental illness with the potential to affect his judgment and put the country in danger. Serious consideration of a declaration of incapacitation and removal from office under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment is warranted.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Comey: The FBI is conducting a criminal Investigation BOMB
F.B.I. Is Conducting A Criminal Investigation Into Trump’s Russia Ties, Comey Confirmed.

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, took the extraordinary step on Monday of announcing that the F.B.I. is investigating whether members of President Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

Mr. Comey’s remarks before the House Intelligence Committee created a treacherous political moment for Mr. Trump, who has insisted that “Russia is fake news” that was cooked up by his political opponents to undermine his presidency. Mr. Comey placed a criminal investigation at the doorstep of the White House and said agents would pursue it “no matter how long that takes.”
Mr. Comey also dismissed Mr. Trump’s claim that he was wiretapped by his predecessor during the campaign, a sensational but unfounded accusation that has served as a distraction in the public debate over Russian election interference.

The New York Times and other news organizations have reported the existence of the investigation into the Trump campaign and its relationship with Russia, but the White House dismissed those reports as politically motivated and rallied political allies to rebut them. Mr. Comey’s testimony on Monday was the first public acknowledgment of the case. The F.B.I. typically discloses its investigations only in the rare circumstances when officials believe it is in the public interest.

The President is trying to divert the attention to his possible criminal acts by one of his staffers, or even himself. The President could be called on to testify if the FBI finds criminal activities by the Trump campaign. If he lies under oath, even the Republican congress would impeach Mr Trump.

NSA Director Admiral Michael Rogers and FBI Director James Comey stated unequivocally that there was no evidence the Russians manipulated election machines to rig the vote.

So if the Russians didn't tamper with the election what is the FBI investigating?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

That investigation was launched in July of 2016. This has been open for nine months. But director Comey said that the investigation is ongoing. Find a credible source.

Commonsense said...

It's quoted from the Congressional Record.

Guess I'll just have to find a more "credible source".

Idiot.

Full transcript

Director Comey, you're recognized for five minutes.

COMEY: Mr. Chairman, Ranking Member Schiff, members of the committee, thank you for including me in today's hearing. I'm honored to be here representing the people of the FBI.

I hope we have shown you through our actions and our words how much we at the FBI value your oversight of our work and how much we respect your responsibility to investigate those things are important to the American people. Thank you for showing that both are being taken very seriously.

As you know, our practice is not to confirm the existence of ongoing investigations, especially those investigations that involve classified matters, but in unusual circumstances where it is in the public interest, it may be appropriate to do so as Justice Department policies recognize. This is one of those circumstances.

I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia's efforts. As with any counterintelligence investigation, this will also include an assessment of whether any crimes were committed.

Because it is an open ongoing investigation and is classified, I cannot say more about what we are doing and whose conduct we are examining. At the request of congressional leaders, we have taken the extraordinary step in coordination with the Department of Justice of briefing this Congress' leaders, including the leaders of this committee, in a classified setting in detail about the investigation but I can't go into those details here. I know that is extremely frustrating to some folks. I hope you and the American people can understand. The FBI is very careful in how we handle information about our cases and about the people we are investigating.

We are also very careful about the way we handle information that may be of interest to our foreign adversaries. Both of those interests are at issue in a counterintelligence investigation. Please don't draw any conclusions from the fact that I may not be able to comment on certain topics. I know speculating is part of human nature, but it really isn't fair to draw conclusions simply because I say that I can't comment.

Some folks may want to make comparisons to past instances where the Department of Justice and the FBI have spoken about the details of some investigations, but please keep in mind that those involved the details of completed investigations. Our ability to share details with the Congress and the American people is limited when those investigations are still open, which I hope makes sense.

We need to protect people's privacy. We need to make sure we don't give other people clues as to where we're going. We need to make sure that we don't give information to our foreign adversaries about what we know or don't know. We just cannot do our work well or fairly if we start talking about it while we're doing it. So we will try very, very hard to avoid that, as we always do.

This work is very complex and there is no way for me to give you a timetable as to when it will be done. We approach this work in an open-minded, independent way and our expert investigators will conclude that work as quickly as they can but they will always do it well no matter how long that takes. I can promise you, we will follow the facts wherever they lead. And I wanna underscore something my friend Mike Rogers said, leaks of classified information are serious, serious federal crimes for a reason...

It doesn't exist.

But there is this.

Because it is an open ongoing investigation and is classified, I cannot say more about what we are doing and whose conduct we are examining. None of this would be going on, if President Trump had no posted three angry tweets.

You're not looking hard enough or you're lying. No surprise there.

NUNES: Thank you, Director Comey.

Admiral Rogers, first I wanna go to you. On January 6th, 2017, the intelligence community assessment assessing Russian activities and intentions in recent U.S. elections, stated that the types of systems Russian actors targeted or compromised were not involved in vote tallying.

So my question as of today, Admiral Rogers, do you have any evidence that Russia cyber actors changed vote tallies in the state of Michigan?

ROGERS: No I do not, but I would highlight we are a foreign intelligence organization, not a domestic intelligence organization. So it would be fair to say, we are probably not the best organization to provide a more complete answer.

NUNES: How about the state of Pennsylvania?

ROGERS: No, sir.

NUNES: The state of Wisconsin?

ROGERS: No, sir.

NUNES: The state of North Carolina?

ROGERS: No, sir.

NUNES: The state of Ohio?

ROGERS: No, sir.

NUNES: So — so you have no intelligence that suggests, or evidence that suggests, any votes were changed?

ROGERS: I have nothing generated by the national security industry, sir.

NUNES: Director Comey, do you have any evidence at the FBI that any votes were changed in the states that I mentioned to Admiral Rogers?

COMEY: No.

No evidence of election tampering, no evidence of collusion.

Tweets have nothing to do about it. Rat was right.

The real crime is the gross violation of trust of the American people by someone in the intelligence community who substitutes his judgement for the American electorate.

That person needs to go to jail. For a long time.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/fox-pulls-napolitano-air-trump-report-023807823--politics.html

NEW YORK (AP) -- Fox News Channel has pulled legal analyst Andrew Napolitano from the air after disavowing his on-air claim that British intelligence officials had helped former President Barack Obama spy on Donald Trump.

Napolitano's report last week on "Fox & Friends," saying he had three intelligence sources who said Obama went "outside the chain of command" to watch Trump, provoked an international incident. Britain dismissed the report as "nonsense" after White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer quoted it in a briefing, part of the administration's continued defense of Trump's unproven contention that Obama had wiretapped him at Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential campaign.

So much for honest reporting from faux.

Election and computer fraud is the only crime the FBI could investigate.

It pretty much puts the kibosh on election fraud. And the only thing left is computer fraud for breaking into the DNC computers.

That crime is barely a felony. In fact the leaking of General Flynn's name was a far more serious felony than hacking the DNC since the leaking of Flynn's name involves national security issues and the DNC hacking did not.

As for "planting" anti-Clinton stories? Well, there is this thing called the 1st amendment.

So again, what exactly are they investigating?

President Trump could end this in a simple apology.

But he's incapable of doing that.

One has to wonder, what is going on inside the White House.

well, that used to be a crime in days gone by. nowadays in our new post-constitutional america, and thanks to the clinton precedent and fbi cowardice, not much can happen to either a powerful politician or a well connected and embedded 0linsky-appointee.

There's a whole lot of smoke and bluster going on that won't change the fact that there is more evidence of the last two administrations wire tapping trump than there is of russian collusion.

This makes cultists and deniers happy....science is a hoax for scientists to pad their pockets.....idiots

The 2018 budget proposal that President Donald Trump unveiled last week confirms two things that U.S. scientists have long suspected: The new president is no fan of research, and his administration has no overarching strategy for funding science.

Deep proposed cuts to research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) offer evidence that Trump doesn’t see science—of any kind—as a spending priority. And along with neglect there’s indifference. The budget blueprint says nothing about spending at the National Science Foundation (NSF), for example. It’s also silent on the research portfolios of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, although science advocates are not sanguine about their prospects.

Justice Gorsuch is giving a US History and US Constitution class to all liberals at his so called hearing.

It would be best if those Liberal Senators take notes and learn and stop acting like they are at all versed in this subject.

Trump Won, he got to pick this Justice and more.

For those that call for the immediate Impeachment of Trump you have a problem, you have yet to admit he is the President of the USA, so since he is not your President , what would be your grounds, he is after all to you, a private citizen .

http://www.denverpost.com/2017/03/20/u-s-science-spending-pays-off-bigly/

President Donald Trump has released a budget plan for federal discretionary spending (which doesn’t include interest on the national debt or entitlement programs like Social Security). It has a few things to like, but it’s alarming for its deep cuts to U.S. government support of science and technology. Although Trump’s document is titled “America First: A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again,” much of the plan would do exactly the opposite.

Support for science and technology is one of the key functions of a modern, rich-country government. Developed nations like the U.S. are at the technological frontier. It’s hard for them to grow by imitating or catching up to other countries, so in order to advance, they have to improve productivity. But productivity growth has been slowing noticeably for the past decade.

One explanation economists have offered for this dangerous trend is a slowdown in the rate of technological progress. Research shows that most scientific and technological fields require more money and manpower to maintain the same rate of progress as time goes on. That means that in the absence of a lucky boom in some new technological field (think of the growth of information technology in the 1990s) the share of national resources devoted to research needs to keep increasing. Unfortunately, federal research spending in the U.S. has leveled off.
