Low bar for Trump success...

Wasn't it just a little less than eight years ago or so when the newly elected Barack Obama was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for basically doing little more than not being George W Bush. Quite literally he was awarded for expectations of things yet to come. Unfortunately those things are still yet to come and he is no longer President.

So for many on the right, Donald Trump has been given a similar low bar to clear. He's prevented Hillary Clinton from being President, and Justice Garland from replacing Justice Scalia on the U.S.S.C.  Moreover, every Obama era regulation he overturns is money in the bank. The fact that he bombed Syria and ISIS in his first hundred days is proof he will not be feckless in international affairs, like our last President. He seems more interested in the economy than environment, and he is looking to do everything in his power to push economic growth.

When you view this Presidency as a conservative, you may or may not be disappointed with the lack of progress on Obamacare repeal, and the building of the wall... but you are certainly glad that Donald Trump is in the White House rather than the alternative. Quite frankly you also have to be quite excited that he is not Barack Obama.

Unlike liberals, Republicans/conservatives aren't looking for a Messiah. Unlike liberals, we don't get emotionally invested in any politician.

The bar isn't low, we just have enough sense to know the difference between a two-bit, out-of-touch lying grifter and Trump.

The only thing Obama had going for him was the color of his skin.

The only thing Hillary had going for her was a vagina (supposedly).

Playtime's over liberals, time to grow up.

The lies we were told about who would silence free speech

The lie we were told as kids was this: The end of American liberty would come at the hands of the political right.

Conservatives would take away our right to speak our minds, and use the power of government to silence dissent. The right would intimidate our teachers and professors, and coerce the young.

And then, with the universities in thrall, with control of the apparatus of the state (and the education bureaucracy), the right would have dominion over a once-free people.

Some of us were taught this in school. Others, who couldn't be bothered to read books, were fed a cartoon version of the diabolical conservative in endless movies and TV shows. The most entertaining of these were science fiction, sometimes with vague references to men in brown shirts and black boots goose-stepping in some future time.

Women would become handmaids, subjugated and turned into breeders. And men would be broken as well. The more lurid fantasies offered armies of Luddites in hooded robes, hunting down subversives for the greater good.

But the lie is obvious now, isn't it?

Because it is not conservatives who coerced today's young people or made them afraid of ideas that challenge them. Conservatives did not shame people into silence, or send thugs out on college campuses to beat down those who wanted to speak.

The left did all that

The left is built on nothing but lies, indoctrination.

They deserve nothing but contempt from us.

Reagan advisor Gergen: Trump speech was 'most divisive' I've ever heard from a president

Washington (CNN)Political analyst David Gergen delivered a harsh critique of President Trump's campaign-style rally Saturday night in an appearance on CNN's "Newsroom."

"To bring your campaign speech into the presidency is something presidents rarely do," said Gergen, who has been a White House adviser to four presidents. "This was the most divisive speech I've ever heard from a sitting American president."

rly-hour long speech began with attacks on the press and covered his tax plan, jobs, the yet-to-be-built wall, trade and other topics Trump had touted throughout his 2016 campaign.

"He played to his base and he treated his other listeners, the rest of the people who have been disturbed about him or oppose him, he treated them basically as 'I don't care, I don't give a damn what you think, because you're frankly like the enemy,'" said Gergen. "I think it was a deeply disturbing speech."

Yep, it's going to get tougher. One reason is that Dems have recognized that Trump's pretense of working with them is a pure fantasy.

The next days will be telling because ---

The Next 100 Days Are Tougher

Dan Balz: “Trump got no honeymoon after the contentious 2016 election. He started his presidency less popular than any president in the history of polling. At the 100-day mark, his approval rating is lower than any past president since polling began. He has governed in a way that has cost him little-to-nothing among the voters who put him in office, but in ways that have not allowed him to expand his support or his appeal. Republican elected officials should hope that something changes.

“What’s particularly worrisome for Republicans is another pattern about presidential approval: Most presidents who have governed in the modern era have seen their approval ratings slide between the 100-day mark and the subsequent midterm election 18 months later.”

Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize as much as a rebuke of Bush as a hope he would actually meaningfully help in bringing about world peace.

But Trump certainly isn't Obama. Obama wouldn't have invited a mass murderer to stay in the White House.

He IS a mass murderer. Nothing like murdering at least 117 innocent civilians from afar.

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea said the United States had reaffirmed it would shoulder the cost of deploying the THAAD anti-missile system, days after President Donald Trump said Seoul should pay for the $1-billion battery designed to defend against North Korea.
