Trump Supporters Still Support Trump

How Trump voters feel about his first 100 days (read me)

I've seen several "example type" articles where journalist use personal examples to argue that support for Trump has waned. In response, most articles have shown less anecdotal and more analytical evidence to show otherwise, generally citing specific polling of Trump supporters.

This is a good example of an more empirical look at Trump supporters, and it generally follows more in line with how the Trump supporters I know feel. Virtually all of those outspoken Trump supporters I know, believe he is doing well and still support him. They cite many of the same reasons cited in this article.

Update: The reason this is so hard for the media to figure out is that they have never quite accepted "why" Donald Trump was elected President, and they have never quite accepted that it's within his rights to actually follow through with much of what he campaigned on.

The reality is that Donald Trump was elected because he was NOT a politician. The media alternates between criticizing him when he acts like something other than a politician, then criticizing him if he sometimes acts like a politician. It's really a lose lose for Trump with the media, who continues to take him literally, but not seriously.

I still maintain that if you have never read his book (The Art of the Deal) that you can in no manner, shape, or form judge his actions as President. Especially not when you ignore his own history of behavior, and instead try to compare him to what Obama would have done. (If the American public wanted a third term of Obama, they would have elected Hillary)

ABC/Washington Post:

Among Trump voters: 2% regret vote, 96% say it was the right thing to do.

Which doesn't jive with Job Performance: 42% approve, 53% disapprove or Can he be trusted in a crisis? 43% yes, 52% no.

Unless of course the sample is overcooked with Democrats and liberals.

Majority of Americans Disapprove of Trump

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds Americans “have become increasingly dissatisfied with President Trump as he nears his 100th day in office, with views of his effectiveness and ability to shake up Washington slipping.

“More than half of Americans — some 54% — disapprove of the job Mr. Trump is doing as president, compared with 40% who approve, a 14-point gap.”

The Trump Resistance Builds

“From pink-hatted protesters to big town hall turnout, the anti-Trump resistance has been in full swing since January’s inauguration. The left is taking a page out of the Tea Party playbook, and building the resistance from the grassroots up,” Axios reports.
“We saw a similar rise on the right in 2009-2010 shortly after Obama was inaugurated, and a huge number of Republican lawmakers were voted into office. That movement shook up US politics and changed the face of the Republican Party, and we could see similar aftershocks here.”

House Democrats Grow Bullish After Trump Stumbles

“House Democrats are heading toward the 100th day of Donald Trump’s presidency with the kind of feel-good unity they haven’t experienced since the election,” the Washington Post reports.

“Coming off a rowdy recess where Republicans continued to be skewered by constituents on everything from health care to Russia to Trump’s tax returns, Democrats say walking through the political wilderness isn’t so bad — at least for now.

“It’s a stunning reversal from the despair dominating the caucus just a few months ago when Trump entered the White House and Republicans seemed poised to wreak havoc on Democratic priorities.”

A Hundred Days of Trump

David Remnick: “The hundred-day marker is never an entirely reliable indicator of a four-year term, but it’s worth remembering that Franklin Roosevelt and Barack Obama were among those who came to office at a moment of national crisis and had the discipline, the preparation, and the rigor to set an entirely new course. Impulsive, egocentric, and mendacious, Trump has, in the same span, set fire to the integrity of his office.”

All he has is journalist giving wishful thinking anecdotes.

All the people running around in pussy-hats, disrupting town halls doesn't mean a damn thing.

Actual votes do and they haven't come across.

(If the American public wanted a third term of Obama, they would have elected Hillary)

Wrong. That's the Republican narrative from campaign slogans, but not particularly reflective of reality. Americans rejected Hillary for vastly more reasons than her association with Obama.

The fact is, if Americans wanted a "third Obama term" they would have elected Joe Biden - IF they'd actually had that choice. And Biden would have defeated Trump easily.

Trump Supporters Still Support Trump - all 25% or so of the public that actually supported him you mean? So his historically low 41% approval rating comes from that core support that still believes in him, plus 16% others who approve for one reason or another.

Not sure what's brag-worthy about that.

And yet neither Obama or the Democrat party establishment thought Biden could win.

Those afflicted with Trumpism, ata The Coldheartedtruth love the insane President. But those who know the difference between opinion and facts, see the real truth.

Trump's job approval has fallen, according to the latest WSJ/NBC News poll. More than half of Americans—some 54%—disapprove of the job he is doing as president, compared with 40% who approve, a 14-point gap that is wider than February's 4-point difference. WSJ's Aaron Zitner breaks down other findings from the poll.

Americans are dissatisfied with President Donald Trump as he nears his 100th day in office, with views of his effectiveness and ability to shake up Washington slipping, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds.

More than half of Americans—some 54%—disapprove of the job Mr. Trump is doing as president, compared with 40% who approve, a 14-point gap. That is a weaker showing than in the Journal/NBC News poll in late February, when disapproval outweighed approval by 4 points.

While Mr. Trump still draws overwhelming support from his own party, he risks losing the nation’s political middle ground. Among independents, disapproval rose markedly, to 54%, while 30% approved of his job performance. That 24-point gap compares with a 9-point margin of disapproval in February.

He said that the Republican congress will Repeal and replace Obamacare and will submit a tax cut bigger than GFK. The town hold meetings mean that Obamacare will survive.

How quickly the the events of the past election are cast aside for wishful thinking. Is it really necessary to go over again why Clinton was the nominee?

Nearly half of THOSE were voting against someone, and not supporting Trump. You couldn't have already forgotten this, could you?

Well WP all we're reporting is the result of a media poll.

I assume the sample of Trump voters was a representative sample that included those who enthusiastically supported him as well as those who (shall we say?) not so enthusiastically supported him.

If those who tepidly supported him he did come through with a conservative SCOTUS nominee.

That calculation would have remained the same if Biden was the nominee.

However, it Biden was the nominee, I doubt Trump would have been the Republican nominee.

They would have gone with a more conventional establishment choice to ensure a GOP win.

I recorded MTP, Lance Periebus is struggling to cover Trump's ass.

He is trying to make the American First line is a joke. The wall is dead, the Muslim ban won't survive. If he gets his tax cuts, the Republican budget says the deficit will set records, with infrastructure. military and the wall would drive the deficit through the roof, trickle down is bs.

Where is the tax bill?
Where is the wall bill?
If he refuses to fund Obamacare payments, he will be held responsible by 20 million voters who will end up with no insurance. The motto is "Hurry Up And Die".

Noonan has some words of wisdom that seem to escape our esteemed host.

Make clear you want to work with Trump on policy but don’t defend his bad behavior.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/republicans-learn-the-limits-of-loyalty-1492727591

No sooner do you remember never to join a pile-on than you wonder if you shouldn’t start one. Bill O’Reilly’s departure this week from Fox News is a real blow to piggishness, and I believe that must be said. He has denied all allegations, but the number of them over the years, and the $13 million in reported payouts, suggests a clear and obvious pattern of sexual harassment. This follows the retirement of Roger Ailes, who left under a similar cloud. I don’t know what was in the water over there, but it wasn’t good, it was poisonous, and I’m glad they’re doing environmental cleanup.

A lot of life is murky. Good things can come from mixed motives, bad things from clean ones. You can hold in your head the knowledge that all prominent conservatives are, essentially, a target in a media matrix dominated by ideological views that are not conservative—isn’t that a nice way to say it?—and yet be happy something bad has been thwarted. You can be aware that the exposé that triggered Mr. O’Reilly’s fall came in the form of a deeply reported piece in this newspaper’s chief competitor—it is the second-greatest newspaper in America—and you can suspect its focus on a Fox News star was fueled, at least in part, by both animal spirits and ideological animus. But you can still feel satisfaction that a culture of looking the other way has for the moment been defeated.

And again, this ought to be said. It is not conservative to be a pig. It is piggish to be a pig. You owe pigs nothing. So say the obvious.

During the Obama administration, I was a strong supporter and I am glad I was. History will judge him very favorably. But when I thought he was failing, I said so. I still think that despite the hatred of the Republicans for the first black President, he should have found a way to work together somewhat in the say Reagan did with Tip O'Neil did. Have regular meetings, and even i they would always differ, he would have accomplished more.

Trump is incapable of doing the same thing by a mile. He's too busy watching Fox news and writing angry, often irrational tweets. Business men have a poor record governing. California is a prime example.

The Democrats should follow the Jerry Brown model. He got massive pluralities in both houses of the state legislature. He didn't let the4 left wing of the Democratic party in CA from passing their agenda Our economy is in great shape, and the housing market is recovering and it is not built on cheap loans, but wise and careful mortgages.

Exactly CHT,, Trump is automatically the front runner for Election to the office of the President of the USA. Really who on the Dem side is going to challenge him\?

Biden could have won, total bs.

Is it really necessary to go over again why Clinton was the nominee?"

Yes, as I see it she was given the position by the elites in the DNC and the media, the lines are very blurry as they are more the same everyday.

Will the DNC change the "Super Delegate" format?

I understand that you and your three Liberal Stooges are pissed she lost, but at what point to do put down your arms ?

I was unhappy that the lost years prez won two terms, but, never did it openly conduct riots against him or threaten people that supported him. Your team has , repeatedly conducted riots, biden's kid was arrested and been charged for rioting.

I see that the left after the 8 lost years and the run up of 14 trillion in US Debt (4 trillion at the US Fed) is now soooooo concerned about what the Trump Budget will do to the National debt.

Here is my view of it, after getting over the laughing at the Liberals, Unless President Trump overspends every year in office at a pace of 1,750,000,000,000.00 then he is doing better then Obama ever did.

Let the excuses for Prez Obama mismanagement begin.
