Sorry Liberals... you lost your right to any moral high ground...

Here are the facts:
  • James Comey stated that Hillary Clinton was "extremely careless" in handling classified information.
  • James Comey stated that there was in fact evidence of criminal activity, but that there was no "intent" or "Mens rea" to bring charges.
  • James Comey stated in the hearing that an FBI employee acting in that manner would have had security access revoked and would have likely been fired.
  • Hillary Clinton lied repeated under oath during congressional inquiries (in both written and verbal statements). No charges were brought.
  • Hillary Clinton wiped a server clean "after" it has been subpoenaed by the FBI. No charges were brought.
  • The Obama DOJ limited the time the FBI had to question Clinton, and did not allow them to put her under oath at all.
  • Hillary Clinton charity foundation took money from foreign entities that had business before the State department. This was never even investigated.

After all that...  you voted for her to become the President of the United States.

Sorry Liberals: You obviously don't think politicians have to follow any rules.

So at this point in time, you have given up you right to demand anyone from the Trump administration have security clearance taken away, or to demand that anyone obstructed justice, or that there is some sort of security or intelligence crime. Especially not for paperwork errors, vague statements, or conspiracy theories with absolutely zero evidence to back it.

So to review, Clinton's handling of classified documents was extremely careless and

What does that have to do with jared lying on his applications? You lost this argument once before, are you into self flagellation? She wasn't charged, lost the election and you bring it up again because trump is getting his ass whipped. Too funny, CH. As i have said before....his application BSing is what will bring him down, and to me, that is more than enough.

Well said, CH.

Sorry Opie...

There is zero evidence that Kushner lied about anything.

What you have is (at best) a paperwork error... and more likely than not you simply are chasing another false narrative cooked up by fake news sources who understand inherently that their audience is amazingly gullible.

Macron Blasts Russian State Media as ‘Propaganda’

French President Emmanuel Macron delivered a blunt greeting to Vladimir Putin, criticizing the use of chemical weapons by Syria’s Russian-backed government and blasting Russia’s state-run news media as “organs of influence and propaganda,” the Washington Post reports.

“Macron had invited the Russian leader to France to reset a relationship that has turned increasingly sour. Putin did more than any other foreign leader to undermine Macron’s legitimacy in this country’s recent presidential election, meeting with his far-right opponent during the campaign.”

Politico: “The new French president struck a firm, at times defiant tone. There was even a flash of anger when the subject of election hacking was brought up.”

Why is the White House so upset and circling the wagons?

Kushner stated that he would be happy to talk to the FBI about the issues at hand. Neither Kushner or his lawyers seem the least bit concerned.

The liberal wing weren't particularly happy about Clinton, and some of them were sympathetic to the lock-er-up chants. In light of that, the Liberals are the only ones entitled to the moral high ground, since both parties have failed us.

Aren't we hearing that Kushner is thinking about leaving DC, and isn't he now in hot water with Trump, and isn't he expressing exasperation at what he is continually having to go through these days and what he is going to have to go through? He'll be walking through legal minefields, and he knows it.

Investigation Turns to Kushner’s Motives

Jared Kushner “was looking for a direct line to President Vladimir Putin of Russia — a search that in mid-December found him in a room with a Russian banker whose financial institution was deeply intertwined with Russian intelligence, and remains under sanction by the United States,” the New York Times reports.

“Federal and congressional investigators are now examining what exactly Mr. Kushner and the Russian banker, Sergey N. Gorkov, wanted from each other. The banker is a close associate of Mr. Putin, but he has not been known to play a diplomatic role for the Russian leader. That has raised questions about why he was meeting with Mr. Kushner at a crucial moment in the presidential transition.

“The meeting came as Mr. Trump was openly feuding with American intelligence agencies and their conclusion that Russia had tried to disrupt the presidential election and turn it in his favor.”

Kushner’s Charmed Life Comes to Screeching Halt

Walter Shapiro: “Even under the benign theory that Kushner thought that a secret back channel was like a small boy’s tin-can telephone, his life in the coming months and maybe years will be a study in misery. He will probably spend more time with his personal lawyer, Clinton Justice Department veteran Jamie Gorelick, than with Ivanka or his children. Whether it is an appearance under oath on Capitol Hill or the inevitable FBI interview, every sentence Kushner utters will bring with it possible legal jeopardy.”

“Kushner may have once thought that he established his tough-guy credentials when he stared down angry creditors and impatient bankers over his ill-timed 2007 purchase of a $1.8bn Fifth Avenue office building. But the worst thing that can happen to an over-leveraged real-estate investor (as Trump himself knows well) is bankruptcy. When the FBI and special prosecutor Robert Mueller get involved, the penalties can theoretically involve steel bars locking behind you.”

So using wp's rationale, the conservative right, not particularly happy with Trump, are the only ones entitled to claim the high moral ground.

Jared Kushner didn't suggest Russian communications channel in meeting, source says

A December meeting between Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and one of the senior advisers in the Trump administration, and Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak at Trump Tower focused on Syria, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Monday.

During the meeting the Russians broached the idea of using a secure line between the Trump administration and Russia, not Kushner, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News. That follows a recent report from The Washington Post alleging that Kushner wanted to develop a secure, private line with Russia.

The idea of a permanent back channel was never discussed, according to the source. Instead, only a one-off for a call about Syria was raised in the conversation.

In addition, the source told Fox News the December meeting focused on Russia's contention that the Obama administration's policy on Syria was deeply flawed.

And how does that fix his lying on his security form???? And you also thought he did that on his own. Yeah right.....Unnamed source to boot. A trifecta of bias. LOL

The conservative right supported Trump and were instrumental in getting him elected. McCain seems to be staking out some moral high ground, a couple of others but mostly no, the Right is hypocritically trying to pass off the ethical failings of this administration. Not equivalent.

Let's have a roll call.

Who of us here is on record that Hillary's negligence was criminal, and rejected the legal reasoning of Comey's eccentric "criminal intent standard"?

Of those, who is also on record that Trump and his associates should be held to the same standards that we should have held Clinton to?

I am one. Is there even one other who agrees?

C.H. Truth said...

Of those, who is also on record that Trump and his associates should be held to the same standards that we should have held Clinton to?

Which were what, exactly?

No independent investigation?
No allowance for the FBI to question main suspect under oath?
Criminal immunity to most of the people suspected as targets?
Allowance to destroy evidence without consequences?
Allowance to perjure under oath without consequences?

______

As far as the rest is concerned... James Comey laid out the facts of the case, the evidence involved, and drew his conclusion. Base on the facts and evidence... I think it's fair to disagree with the conclusion.

So far nobody from the FBI has laid out any facts or evidence that proves anyone has done anything illegal. Most of what we believe we know is unknown sources and unsubstantiated claims that still don't "prove" anything other than what might be considered suspicious behavior. There are some "theories" made available to you if you assume the absolute worse and are willing to cherry pick your argument.

But I would offer that if you are being honest and want to be fair, that perhaps we should wait until Special Counsel gives us some sort of official update or official conclusion before jumping the gun.

McCain is coming across to most conservatives as a bitter old man who is still holding a grudge.

I hate to tell you this, WP.... but hardly anyone I know believes that those who are chasing all of the unsubstantiated hyperbolic claims of the media hold any sort of "high ground". It might be closer to the truth to just suggest that they are all "high".

Remember when calling Russia our "number one geopolitical foe" was a tactless political faux-pas & made one unfit for office?

Good times.

wphamilton said...

And who was opposing that paradigm at the time, more than McCain. Say what you will of his politics, but I still respect the man for his convictions and principles.
