Trump's first big trip...

So far so good!
This is not a battle between different faiths, different sects, or different civilizations. This is a battle between barbaric criminals who seek to obliterate human life, and decent people of all religions who seek to protect it. This is a battle between Good and Evil.

Trump's staff cant even organize a meet and greet without insulting almost all of Israel's Ministers. It's sad that his screwups represent America.

really?

after 8 years of non-stop insults, interference with west bank policy and US taxpayer-funded interference with their last election, it was trump who pissed off israel's ministers?

you're just trolling at this point, aren't you wp?

Actually, Trump is not doing so badly in Israel.
Even J Street can see that.

Now, let's just hold our breaths while we see what RESULTS he can accomplish.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

At RHETORIC, he's good in his own mad way.
At RESULTS, however? Pretty damn pitiful.

opie said...

But....he never said the word Israel when he blabbed the secret info to the russki's . Did you see the look on bibi's face when he said that. Not sure whether that was the dumbest thing he's ever done. Trying to claim the high ground on fake news....he leads the way. Can't understand why his coverage is sooooo bad. LOL

opie said...

He's good at rhetoric.. did you watch his words on the arena attack.....he's about as sincere and personal as rat....his words while nice seemed forced as he had to read the statement in the most monotone unemotional way....Makes his words ring hollow like he don't really want to be bothered. As to the new word...LOSERS" Brilliant skill at inspiring more to join the idiots who act out against the west.

Netanyahu on potential for peace:

"It won't be simple but for 1st time in many yrs & 1st time in my lifetime I see a real hope for change."

LOL. "hope for change" ZING!

0linsky had better put some ice on that.

At RESULTS, however? Pretty damn pitiful.

The Keystone XL pipeline is now being built.

The Dakota Access pipeline is now being built.
Illegal immigration is down 70%.

A new reboot of relations with the middle east.

A new alliance with Muslim countries to stamp out the evil ideology of islamic terrorism.

A reset of trade relations.

Lowest unemployment and real unemployment in eight years.

New capital flowing back to the US in anticipation of tax reform.

If that's pitiful, I'll take it anyday over the "glowing accomplishments" of Barack Obama.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

RESULTS will tell the tale. Trump's madcap performance may actually
buy Bibi some space to defy some of the worst elements of Israeli right wing obstructionism. But Bibi must be willing to give as well as take, and that remains to be seen.

And who DOES that wall belong to, Rat?

There may trouble in paradise. After a smooth honeymoon period, President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appear to be at odds over the legal status of Jerusalem.

Ahead of Trump’s first international trip as president to the Middle East, the Netanyahu government is reeling over comments made by administration officials.

The Jerusalem Post reports:
_________
The drama unfolded when a senior White House official said that the Western Wall was part of the West Bank and not part of Israel's territory, as Channel 2 reported on Monday.

"The Western Wall is not in your territory," the official reportedly said.

It seems that the official was prompted to make the statement after members of Netanyahu's team asked if Netanyahu could join Trump on the visit to the Western Wall and whether Israeli photographers could document the event, to which the Americans replied that the Western Wall was a "disputed territory."

According to Channel 2, the same official told members of Netanyahu's team that Trump's visit to the Western Wall was a private visit and also added: "No way, why is this your business?"

The official allegedly went on to say: "This is not your territory but rather part of the West Bank."

According to The Times of Israel, a senior official from the Netanyahu government has confirmed these reports.

While the official said that the Netanyahu government does not believe that the Trump team’s remarks reflect White House policy, Israeli officials were so upset over the U.S. delegations position on Jerusalem that a shouting match erupted between representatives of the two countries.

“These comments led to vociferous protests by the Israelis, with the discussion descending into shouting, and the Israelis reminding the U.S. team that the Western Wall and adjacent area ‘is territory holy to Israel,’ reports The Times of Israel...

BTW, Netanyahu was NOT part of Trump's visit to the Western (Wailing) Wall.

Sometimes cooler heads prevail even in Trumpdom.

WOW!!!! Impressive list if it were only meaningful....LOLOLOL

Commonsense said...

And who DOES that wall belong to, Rat?

Israel. In any settlement of the final status of Jerusalem, the Western Wall will remain in Jewish hands just as the Dome of the Rock will remain in Palestinian hands.

Those two positions are non-negotiable and everybody knows it.

"unnamed senior officials"

the msm doesn't even try to hide their fabrications anymore. make shit up and attribute it to anonymous sources. lather, rinse, repeat.

no wonder they continue to hold dan rather in such high regard.

7:55 You mean the place where the sacred Temple built by Solomon, rebuilt by the Jews returning from Babylon, and glorified by Herod will not be in Israeli hands?

I don't WANT to be that way, and I was pulling for him. But the way they handled it was ridiculous, unprofessional and insulting. The Ministers were invited for a hand-shake ceremony, then all uninvited, then told they could come but would go through a two hour security checkpoint and be cordoned off out of the way. All of them declined that - who could blame them - causing the Prime Minister to lose his cool and order them to attend.

This is the opposite of what you want from the greeting ceremonies. It is rank amateur incompetence.

i'm quoting everyone who has decided to forego accurate reporting and resort to just making shit up while hiding behind anonymous sources.. no matter who they are.

a mountain out of a molehill, wp. and if these insulted ministers could take a minute to get over themselves, they'd realize that for the first time in almost a decade, america is a trusted ally again.

wphamilton said...

The sad thing about it rrb, if someone suggested that Trump was jerking them around deliberately to show who was the alpha dog, that would almost be plausible. But I won't go that far; his people are just disorganized and feckless, unable to plan effectively even something as simple as meeting ceremony with government Ministers, all because Trump is an impulsive loose cannon.

It's embarrassing. Unfortunately I suspect that it's the "new normal" for our President.

Anonymous said...

well, you focus on the pomp and circumstance of diplomatic protocol and i'll focus on tangible results.

i've spent 8 long years watching an idiot jet around the planet apologizing, bowing and engaging in phony ass-kissing. and all we have to show for it is a nuclear iran, an unhinged north korea, the proliferation of ISIS, an emboldened russian ally 90 miles from our coast, and syria gassing children while crossing red lines at their leisure.

guys like david brooks and evan thomas are impressed by pant creases and saw trump's predecessor as a "sort of god."

i'm ok with a bull in a china shop for a change. the world's on fire. we tried a poseur and it didn't work. and that was how we got trump.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

North Korea is so scared of Trump they keep launching missiles.
ISIS is so afraid of him they keep sponsoring terrorism.

wphamilton said...

I recall you being upset and contemptuous about China's slight of our President on the tarmac. You considered it pretty much a Big Deal then. The ceremony is all there is to those meetings.

It doesn't bother me that Trump wimped out and inconvenienced the Ministers of Israel. What bothers me is the keystone cops routine from sheer disorganized incompetence. Is that just what we should expect from Trump now, for the duration?

INDICATIONS THAT THINGS ARE NOT GOING SO WELL ON THE REPEAL AND REPLACE WARFRONT
____________

PIECE OF EVIDENCE NUMBER ONE:

Corker Blasts Process for GOP Health Care Bill

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) “unexpectedly torched his party’s process for crafting an Obamacare repeal bill behind closed doors,” the HuffPost reports.

Said Corker: “It’s a very awkward process, at best. There are no experts. There’s no actuarials… Typically, in a hearing, you’d have people coming in and you’d also have the media opining about if a hearing took place, and X came in and made comments.”

Corker’s frustrations come as Republicans continue to struggle with how, exactly, to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The House barely passed its bill, which is going nowhere, earlier this month. Senate leaders delegated the task of drawing up a bill in that chamber to a group of 13 Republicans who have been quietly meeting. Corker said he went to one of their meetings to offer input because he’s worried they’re going to unveil a final bill that hasn’t been shaped by public hearings or media analyses.”
__________
No way to craft a bill.

PIECE OF EVIDENCE NUMBER TWO:

MacArthur Quits ‘Clearly Divided’ Tuesday Group

Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-NJ) resigned as co-chairman of the caucus of GOP moderates known as the Tuesday Group “in the wake of deep divisions among its members over the House Obamacare replacement bill he helped craft,” Politico reports.

Said MacArthur: “You can’t lead people where they don’t want to go. I think some people in the group just have a different view of what governing is.”
