Well so much for the lie that this didn't burden our economy?

Germany's powerful car industry said Europe would need to reassess its environmental standards to remain competitive after the United States said it would withdraw from the Paris climate pact.
President Donald Trump said on Thursday he would withdraw the United States from the landmark 2015 global agreement to fight climate change, drawing anger and condemnation from world leaders and heads of industry.
"The regrettable announcement by the USA makes it inevitable that Europe must facilitate a cost efficient and economically feasible climate policy to remain internationally competitive," Matthias Wissmann, president of the German auto industry lobby group VDA, said in a statement on Friday.
So the German auto industry lobby just admitted that the Paris climate pact does not facilitate a cost efficient and economically feasible policy. To read between the lines, Wissmann is admitting that the Paris agreement would probably force automobile makers to raise prices due to the new environmental standards, and that this only remains economically feasible if all parties follow the same rules.

One might offer that by withdrawing from the agreement, Trump now puts the American automobile industry at a competitive advantage over the European companies who would be forced (by the agreement) to up the scale of their environmental standards.

The real winner in all of this is the car buyer, who otherwise may have been looking at an across the board price increase in order to pay for cost associated with the Paris climate agreement. Now they either will have an option to purchase an American made car, or it's still possible that the world community (by virtue of the United States opting out) will be forced to renegotiate certain economic concessions.

why do you think automakers like VW manipulated the software in their cars to pass emissions tests?

there was never any intention of actually complying with the paris accord. once again, it was a steaming pile of bullshit cobbled together by a bunch of asshole liberals to con the world while making themselves look good at the same time.

liberalism is always a fucking con. the paris accord was no exception.

i don't know about you guys, but i'm not getting tired of all this winning yet.
