The recent Russian Collusion hoax...

So the NY Times published another amplified story about a meeting between someone associated with Trump and someone associated with Russia. Given, we haven't had much "real" news on the Russian collusion front, I guess it was time for something like this.

So what do we know about this meeting?  We know that the Russian lobbyist/lawyer in question had whatever ties to the Kremlin limited to her work opposing a law regarding the adoption of Russian children. We know that the Russian lobbyist did not personally request the meeting, but rather went through an intermediary.

Apparently Donald Jr has suggested that the person who requested the meeting misrepresented who they were meeting with. We have been told that the meeting was rather short and that there was no follow up.

None of these facts appear to be in any sort of dispute.

We also know that the Democratic firm (Fusion GPS) that requested and paid for the fake dossier regarding the President (and Russian hookers, etc)... has issued a denial that they had anything to do with setting up this meeting.

At this point, the only interesting things about this meeting appears to be that someone at the NY Times believes this is somehow news that damages the White House, and that for some reason Fusion GPS has decided to issue a statement.

Perhaps the real story here isn't collusion between Trump and Russia to hack the election, but collusion to make it "appear" as if Trump and the Russians were working together. At this point, I don't find that allegation to be anymore or less paranoid and devoid of evidence than the original allegations.

Trump’s Son Was Promised Clinton Info by Russian

“President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign,” the New York Times reports.

“The meeting was also attended by his campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner… The meeting — at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016, two weeks after Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination — points to the central question in federal investigations of the Kremlin’s meddling in the presidential election: whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians.

“It is unclear whether the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, actually produced the promised compromising information about Mrs. Clinton. But the people interviewed by The Times about the meeting said the expectation was that she would do so."

CH's CONCLUSION:

CH'S CONCLUSION MEETS UP WITH BREAKING NEWS:
07/09/2017 05:49 PM EDT Updated 07/09/2017 07:07 PM EDT
Donald Trump Jr. confirmed Sunday that he met last year with a Russian lawyer who had ties to the Kremlin, saying she told him at the June 2016 meeting she had information that could damage Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

President Donald Trump’s oldest son said in a statement that an acquaintance from the 2013 Miss Universe pageant, which was held in Moscow, had asked him to meet “with an individual who I was told might have information helpful to the campaign.” He was not given a name prior to the meeting, he said.

The news of the Trump Tower meeting INJECTED FRESH LIFE into a Russia story that has engulfed the president’s administration. President Trump has repeatedly dismissed allegations of possible ties between his associates and Moscow as “fake news” and a “hoax," as investigations continue into the Kremlin's role in meddling with the 2016 election. On Sunday, Donald Trump Jr. confirmed that SOME MEMBERS OF THE CAMPAIGN HAD AT LEAST DISCUSSED THE RACE AND CLINTON WITH A PERSON WITH KREMLIN TIES.

The White House sought to downplay Donald Trump Jr's sit-down with Natalia Veselnitskaya after the New York Times first reported Saturday that the two had met, along with senior White House adviser Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort, at the time the president’s campaign chairman.

On Saturday, Donald Trump Jr. told the paper the meeting was about a program for the adoption of Russian children, which had been cut off by the Kremlin in retaliation for a U.S. law that targeted Russian human rights abusers. ON SUNDAY, HE GAVE NEW INFORMATION TO THE TIMES, SAYING THE MEETING RELATED TO POTENTIAL DAMAGING INFORMATION Veselnitskaya CLAIMED TO HAVE ON CLINTON.

“I asked Jared and Paul to attend, but told them nothing of the substance. We had a meeting in June 2016,” Trump Jr. said in his statement. “After pleasantries were exchanged, the woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Ms. Clinton.”

“Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense,” he continued. “No details or supporting information was provided or even offered. It quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information.”

He said she then switched to discussing the adoption issue and the U.S. human rights law. Trump Jr. said he told Veselnitskaya that his father was a private citizen and could not address the issue. He said the meeting lasted 20-30 minutes.

The president has long been criticized for seeming too complimentary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he spent more than two hours Friday on the sidelines of a G20 meeting in Germany.

President Trump alarmed allies and critics alike in Washington earlier Sunday when he declared “it is time to move forward in working constructively with Russia!”

In a series of tweets, he said he “strongly pressed” Putin “twice about Russian meddling in our election.” Putin “vehemently denied it,” he said, but “I’ve already given my opinion,” which as of late last week was that Russia or other countries may have interfered with the campaign.

“Putin & I discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded and safe,” he tweeted. He then went on to criticize Democrats who were hacked by Russians and questioned President Barack Obama’s lack of action to punish Moscow during the 2016 campaign.

By your logic, the guy hired to dig up dirt on Trump and claimed to have garnered damaging information from Russians (and from Russia) would have been breaking the law for accepting information from the Russians. So would the company that hired him. Perhaps (by the same logic used to blame Trump) Hillary could be personally held responsible for benefiting from the dirt.

Trump Jr. Met Russian for Dirt on Clinton

Donald Trump Jr. has made a potentially damaging New York Times report much, much worse.

The Times on Sunday reported that the president's eldest son was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer at Trump Tower in New York on June 9, 2016.

As Times reporters Jo Becker, Matt Apuzzo and Adam Goldman explained, Trump Jr.’s motivation for agreeing to the meeting “points to the central question in federal investigations of the Kremlin’s meddling in the presidential election: whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. The accounts of the meeting represent the first public indication that at least some in the campaign were willing to accept Russian help.”

Paul Manafort, the campaign’s chairman at the time, and Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, also attended.

Needless to say, the report looks bad for the president, even though his private legal team told the Times that Trump did not participate or even know about the meeting. Trump has a go-to playbook in situations like these: cast doubt on the credibility of unnamed sources (five, in this case) and cry, “Fake news!”

But Trump Jr. took that strategy off the table with a stunningly incriminating first response. Check out this excerpt from the Times report:

'In a statement on Sunday, Donald Trump Jr. said he had met with the Russian lawyer at the request of an acquaintance. “After pleasantries were exchanged,” he said, “the woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Ms. Clinton. Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense. No details or supporting information was provided or even offered. It quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information.”

He said she then turned the conversation to adoption of Russian children and the Magnitsky Act, an American law that blacklists suspected Russian human rights abusers. The law so enraged President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia that he retaliated by halting American adoptions of Russian children.

“It became clear to me that this was the true agenda all along and that the claims of potentially helpful information were a pretext for the meeting,” Mr. Trump said.

Read that last part again: “the claims of potentially helpful information were a pretext for the meeting.”

Trump Jr. confirmed that he went into the meeting expecting to receive information from the Russian lawyer that could hurt Clinton. That is a breathtaking admission.

The rest of Trump Jr.’s statement is an attempt to minimize the value of what the lawyer actually told him. The outcome of the meeting and its effect on the presidential race is important, of course, yet it is kind of beside the point.

Trump Jr.’s attempt to obtain information from a Russian lawyer that could harm Clinton seems likely to alarm investigators, regardless of whether the effort proved successful.

Trump's legal team blames Democrats for setting up the meeting between his campaign and a Russian lawyer

Sonam Sheth
Jul 9th 2017 8:06PM

President Donald Trump's outside legal team has changed their defense against a New York Times report which said his son and top members of his campaign team met with a Russian lawyer with strong ties to the Kremlin in June 2016.

The meeting was between Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer, and Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort, who served as Trump's campaign manager at the time.

Veselnitskaya waged a harsh campaign against the 2012 Magnitsky Act, which blacklisted Russians suspected of human-rights abuses. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the law "outrageous" and retaliated by blocking Americans from adopting Russian children.

The Trump campaign's meeting with Veselnitskaya was only recently disclosed to government officials, when Kushner filed a revised security clearance form after The Times reported in April that he had failed to disclose his contacts with Russian officials before joining the Trump administration.

Trump Jr. initially said the meeting had been to discuss the adoption program. "It was a short introductory meeting. I asked Jared and Paul to stop by," Trump Jr. said in a statement to The Times. "We primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children that was active and popular with American families years ago and was since ended by the Russian government, but it was not a campaign issue at the time and there was no follow up."

The Times reported late Sunday afternoon, however, that Trump Jr. was promised damaging information about then-candidate Hillary Clinton when he agreed to meet with Veselnitskaya.

In a statement released hours after The Times published its first story on Saturday, Trump's legal team painted the meeting as part of a Democratic effort to use Russian operatives to undermine the Trump campaign.

"We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for," Mark Corallo, a spokesperson for Trump's team, said in the statement. "Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the president and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier," he continued.

After the Times published its second story on Sunday, Corallo said only that "the president was not aware of and did not attend the meeting."

Bush Lawyer Suggests Trump Son Committed Treason
July 9, 2017 at 9:57 pm

Bush ethics lawyer Richard Painter blasted Donald Trump Jr. for meeting with a Russian lawyer who claimed to have compromising information on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton during the campaign, saying it “borders on treason,” The Hill reports.

Said Painter: “This was an effort to get opposition research on an opponent in an American political campaign from the Russians, who were known to be engaged in spying inside the United States.”

He added: “We do not get our opposition research from spies, we do not collaborate with Russian spies, unless we want to be accused of treason.”

We have no idea if there was collusion is anytime. The problem is this should've been fully disclosed many months ago. Coming out in the little dribbles and dribbles and dribbles it looks suspicious.

It's completely destroyed any possibility he passes any of the things he ran on, none of them.

Within a day or two another story like this will come out from somewhere. As usual you spreading fake news BS as an excuse to ignore this message saying that is not true we don't know you don't know you just claim to have.

If you report things that happen in the administration and that automatically is fake news even though it is true because you just can't handle it, Question Donald Trump anytime you are wrong and you completely doing it for malicious reasons that's not necessarily true.

Fake news.

Because of the First Amendment in the Constitution the president or the Congress cannot press the button shut down the media a.k.a. the Free Press. The president's allies just playing with the news is fake almost every time and rarely as you said rarely right is not correct.

This is a backdoor weapon to censor the media view. If he succeeds, Free Press is useless because nobody will believe it. Much to his dismay his compulsive lies and exaggerations are completely demolishing his credibility. The fake news thing repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly, people that should know better, listen to it and buy into it. There's no doubt, some stores are inaccurate most of them are not.

If he gets the majority of the people not to trust the media anymore it's just about as good as poisoning journalists or shooting them dead like his hero Pooty Poot.

Hints That Russian Meeting Is a Much Bigger Story

Josh Marshall makes a good observation on the news that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer promising “dirt” on Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign:

'What I suspect is the most important detail in this story is the sources. The Times reports that they got the information from “three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.” They apparently talked after the release of the first story. This is highly, highly significant.

'Needless to say, advisors to the White House are not in the business of taking highly damaging stories and volunteering new information which makes them catastrophically damaging. The only reason a President’s allies ever do something like that is either to get ahead of something much more damaging or get a first crack at shaping the public understanding of something much more damaging. There’s really no other explanation.

'We don’t know yet what drove them to volunteer such highly damaging information. Five of them did it. It wasn’t a matter of one person going rogue.'

That is not a hoax. The last news on it is that Donald Trump Junior received a email from the Russians saying that it would be provide information against the Clinton campaign. You should have gone to the FBI that very minute he did not. This is a lot bigger story than you seem to think it is and is getting bigger and a blowing up in your face and that's what's happening it is really going off. He knew that was the meeting was to discuss getting into the Clinton campaign to help his father become the president. Felony no probably not but stupid absolutely should not have happened on that and you should have gone to the FBI and instantly instantly.
