In front of cable news cameras and on Twitter, the tensions between Republicans and Democrats on the House intelligence committee’s Trump-Russia investigation are pointed and more than occasionally nasty.
But inside the Secure Compartmented Information Facility while members of the intel committee grill Obama administration alums and Trump allies, things can get even messier. Rep. Devin Nunes, who has ostensibly stepped back from the probe, still controls its subpoena power—and significant aspects of its agenda. Nunes’ staffers are tracking down leads. Just not those about Trump.
People familiar with the probe say it’s becoming increasingly clear where the committee’s Republican staffers are focusing their energy—and it’s not on the possible collusion between the Kremlin and Trump Tower.
This all points to a larger, fundamental tension: For all practical purposes, the House intel committee is running two investigations, not one.
Couple this with the news that the Mueller Investigation has now expanded into the dealings of Tony Podesta (Democratic lobbyist and brother of Clinton campaign director John Podesta)... as well as news that the Senate Intelligence committee has opened an investigation into the FBI's handling of the Uranium One probe... and you have some very angry liberals.
It's almost as if the left somehow believes that our officials should not only maintain a never ending investigation into the so called "Trump/Russia collusion" allegations... but that it's the "only" investigation that should be taking place. The attitude seems to be that any energy used on anything else is energy wasted.
But every week that goes by is another week where we still have no known evidence of any illegal actions on the part of the Trump administration. We are still running three simultaneous investigations, and at some point in time... these sorts of things just run out of steam.
Eventually you must ask the lingering question: wow long do you continue to "search" for evidence of something that remains nothing more than an allegation. How many rocks do you turn over, until you realize that it's an exercise in futility.
Meanwhile, we are uncovering "actual" evidence of unethical and potentially illegal actions between the Russian Government and Democratic politicians, as well as a potential cover up by both the FBI and the Justice Department in regards to said actions. By all logical measures, these sorts of allegations deserve at least the same amount of attentions that we have brought to the Russian Trump allegations... up to and including an independent counsel.

The Democratic National Committee and a lawyer for Hillary Clinton helped bankroll research that led to the now-infamous dossier on alleged ties between the Donald Trump campaign and Russian government operatives, sources familiar with the matter said Tuesday.
Marc Elias, a lawyer who represented the DNC and the Clinton campaign, retained a Washington firm, Fusion GPS, to carry out the research, the sources said. Services from the firm were retained from April 2016 until before the election in early November, a source said.
The news was first reported by The Washington Post.
The dossier — prepared by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele and Fusion GPS — has become a central focus of ongoing congressional probes into Russian election interference during the 2016 general election.
A spokesperson for the DNC said the new leadership of the organization, including Chairman Tom Perez, was not involved in the decision-making process that led to the retention of the research firm. Democratic officials stressed that the congressional probes into the White House were of greater significance than the origin of the funds behind the dossier's creation.
"Let’s be clear, there is a serious federal investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, and the American public deserves to know what happened,” DNC spokesperson Xochitl Hinojosa said in a statement.
The involvement of the Clinton campaign and the DNC could lead to the first legal test for investigators on Capitol Hill. Fusion GPS has asked that a federal judge block a request for the House Intelligence Committee that would grant lawmakersaccess to Fusion GPS' bank records. The firm argues that turning over the records would violate its constitutional rights.

Clinton's former running-mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, said the meeting could constitute treason.
"We are now beyond obstruction of justice in terms of what’s being investigated," Kaine said. "This is moving into perjury, false statements and even potentially treason.”

According to a new pole by Politico and Morning Consult, the majority of Americans in the United States, view Donald Trump as both thin-skinned and reckless in his job as president of the United States. Now, depending on which numbers you’re looking at within this pole, something interesting happens. According to one analysis, about 52 to 53 percent of people in the Unites States believe Donald Trump is trustworthy, however, 51 percent say that he is not honest.
Now, I’m not exactly sure how somebody can be both trustworthy and not honest, but that’s what the pole shows us here, but again, that’s more of an aside. The biggest issue that we have right now is that a majority of Americans understand that Donald Trump is a thin-skinned, reckless individual that for some reason, still has access to the nuclear codes in this country. We already saw earlier this week that the military is preparing to go on a 24 hour alert to arm their nuclear bombers to be ready in the event that Donald Trump launches a nuclear war at any time of day. They want to make sure that they have those plans with those bombs ready to go as soon as Donald Trump gives the go-ahead.
This reckless and thin-skinned president can do that at any point. This is why that’s important. The thin-skinned part is obvious. We know that Donald Trump cannot handle criticism of any kind whatsoever from anyone on the planet. He’s so fragile that even the slightest little attempt to call him out on something sends him into an unhinged rage. White House staffers have confirmed this, cabinet members have confirmed this, past friends of Donald Trump have confirmed this and the American public has clearly seen it via Donald Trump’s twitter feeds and some of his press conferences.
What happens when you have somebody who is this combination of thin-skinned and reckless? Well, we’re seeing it play out in North Korea. Every time Kim Jong Un comes out and says something negative about Donald Trump, Donald Trump once again starts beating the drums of war, threatening to go over there and kill millions of people just to spite one guy that pissed him off. What’s happening to the people in North Korea is disgusting and appalling and they need help. But Donald Trump is going to allow one lunatic, Kim Jong Un, to goad him into dropping a nuclear weapon over there.
That reality of Trump dropping a nuclear weapon over on North Korea or possibly even Iran, is a hell of a lot closer than most people in this country truly understand. That is why the military is preparing to go on 24 hour alert. Something that hasn’t happened since the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis and yet, we’re there and people aren’t paying attention. Gag order lifted: DOJ says informant can speak to Congress on Uranium One, Russia bribery case with Clinton links
The Justice Department said Wednesday night that it had lifted a gag order on a former FBI informant involved in a high-profile Russia bribery case, clearing the individual to speak to Congress about Moscow’s Obama-era uranium deals in the U.S. market and other schemes.
In a statement, the department said it had authorized the informant to speak to the leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee, House Oversight Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, in addition to select staffers.
The department said the informant could provide “any information or documents he has concerning alleged corruption or bribery involving transactions in the uranium market,” including Russian company Rosatom, subsidiary Tenex, Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation.
To think we almost had a president that would have sold out the country for a fistful of dollars.

President Donald Trump's approval rating reached the lowest mark it has been in any Fox News poll, 38 percent.
In Fox News' latest poll released Wednesday, the percentage of voters who approve of the president dropped 4 percentage points from September and a full 10 points since the poll's first post-inaugural results in February, while the number of those who disapprove — 57 percent — rose to a new high under his administration. The findings highlight a continued erosion of national support for the president, who received low mark across several major policy areas.
Approval for President Trump remained high, however, among Republican voters, who overwhelmingly favored his performance at 83 percent. His support among independents dropped to 30 percent while 9 in 10 Democrats registered their discontent with the president's performance.
Trump also drew his poorest marks yet for his handling of the economy, with 44 percent approving, and on key foreign policy matters, including his direction on Iran and North Korea, with just over 1 in 3 approving of each. The economy, which had been Trump's relative strong suit in prior polls, saw a 5 percent drop in approval from September.
Trump garnered disapproval from a majority of voters on his handling of taxes for the first time, a finding that comes as the White House and congressional lawmakers continue to make a major legislative push to get the tax code overhauled by the end of the calendar year.
The commander in chief continued to draw low marks for honesty, trustworthiness and knowledge. A majority of voters in a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll released Wednesday similarly found the president earning poor ratings on his personal attributes, with most finding him to be dishonest and not compassionate.
The president, who participated in a briefing on the federal response to recent natural disasters, received more mixed marks for his handling on the numerous hurricanes that have rocked the southern U.S. and the Caribbean.

At this point... to contend that this news is "unsubstantiated rumors" is silly, considering you probably "still" believe that Trump and Putin "colluded" in spite of four investigations going on for upwards of 15 months... still not finding "any" evidence of it.

The fact that the Dems were willing to pay for the Steele dossier shows that Steele had something they wanted, that they couldn't manufacture themselves: Factual dirt on Trump.
The Steele dossier is accurate. The whole damn thing, from Trump's subservience to Russia, to his paying Russian prostitutes to piss on him.
