Nikki Haley doses a little reality to the UN

“Let’s be honest about what we really see going on here. This
assembly does not have the power to end the U.S. embargo. It is
based in U.S. law, which only the United States Congress can change."
She also said she wanted to clear up any questions about why the United States would change its vote on the same resolution just a year later. She acknowledged some will not understand how the United States “could passively accept this resolution last year and energetically oppose it this year.”
“To those who are confused as to where the United States stands, let me be clear: as is their right under our Constitution, the American people have spoken,” Haley said. “They have chosen a new president, and he has chosen a new ambassador to the United Nations.”

it is still taking me a while to get used to having a UN ambassador willing to, in a nice, diplomatic way, tell the rest of the world to go fuck themselves when it needs to be said.

Donna brazile is exposing just how rigged the dem nomination was for hillary. Obama left the dnc 24M in debt. Hillary paid off 80% of it in exchange for control of all dnc money. DWS knew about it but didn't tell most of the leadership.

Bernie should be mad as hell. He might have won the presidency.

By the way, now we know why both hillary campaign and dnc paid for the bogus dossier. Hillary controlled all the money in both places.

November 13, 2016 The DNC has made a huge mistake. I know that's obvious by now

October 23, 2016 I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the political powers of the two major parties. Democrats for forcing the nomination of an unelectable candidate

July 7, 2016 Sounds a lot like I predicted - it's a small step from there to "the fix is in." ... mark these words, remember who wrote them.

Just so the "other side" doesn't feel left out, I'll remind you of my warnings that Trump was winning and that the polls were wrong:

October 23, 2016
Tracking polls have Trump up by 2 ... You can mock (my warning that Trump is winning) all you want, while picking among the polls that you like, but you're making a mistake. There are more problems with the polling this year

November 8, 2016 wphamilton said...everything except the polls points to a Trump win.

One of the reasons I knew this, better than the pollsters? It was because rigging the Primaries cuts across the grain of a Democracy, thereby placing the candidate at a disadvantage in the general election. Polls, which may work well in normal elections, won't necessarily capture the distortions due to disenfranchisement of the candidates natural supporters when the candidate is undemocratically forced on them.

Somehow is simple. The people who are persuaded to these suicide murders are the weak-minded emotionally disturbed types, enough so that they believe that yelling out empty praise will trick a Supreme Being into bestowing rewards on them.

but apparently not simple enough for the elite intelligentsia of the NY Times.

to the wider audience those words are inextricably linked to murder and terrorism.

wphamilton said...

Has The DNC changed thier rules ...etc

Not enough, and they have insufficiently purged the leadership of those who were involved in the corruption.

Grassroots political campaigns may still result in Democratic gains, but the DNC will be useless. Without further reforms, and soon, they will become irrelevant as well.

The Pinocchio Test

In their haste to condemn the GOP tax plan, Democrats have spread far and wide the false claim that families making less than $86,100 on average will face a hefty tax hike. Actually, it’s the opposite. Most families in that income range would get a tax cut. Any Democrat who spread this claim should delete their tweets and make clear they were in error.

Big Majority Approves of Mueller’s Investigation

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds that a 58% majority say they approve of special counsel Robert Mueller’s handling of the Russia investigation while 28% say they disapprove. ...overall, Americans are generally inclined to trust Mueller and the case he has made so far.

Meanwhile, fewer than 4 in 10 Americans say they believe Trump is cooperating with Mueller’s investigation, while about half believe he is not.

Of course for those silly enough to believe a WashPost/ABC Poll:

Hillary Clinton surged to a broad advantage against Donald Trump in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll. Two-thirds of Americans see him as biased against groups such as women, minorities or Muslims, and a new high, 64 percent, call Trump unqualified to serve as president..... +12 points for Clinton , 51-39 percent.

CH favorite Senator has apparently caught Sessions in a lie. This whole thing is starting to look like a fish left out in the sun, it begins to stink.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions rejected a proposal by a junior campaign aide who offered to use his "Russian contacts" to try to set up a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, a source familiar with the matter told NBC News.
The aide, George Papadapoulos, has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, and documents released Monday show he was in contact with Russians who offered him "dirt" on Hillary Clinton — including thousands of emails.

This new revelation is significant because Sessions told Congress, Senator Al Franken,(D Minnesota) under oath in June that he had "no knowledge" of any conversations by anyone connected to the Trump campaign about "any type of interference with any campaign" by Russians.

The photograph has gone viral.

They have been growing.

NPR reported another silly poll.

Updated at 1:55 p.m. ET

As Republicans scrambled to assemble a tax overhaul bill, Americans weren't even sure that Congress should be focusing on reshaping the tax system.

Only about one-quarter of Americans believe that passing a tax overhaul should be "the top priority for the president and Congress," according to a CBS News poll released Wednesday; 70 percent said other things should be "addressed first." And even Republicans aren't particularly enthused: Only about half (51 percent) said an overhaul should be the top issue.

That's just one finding of a string of recent polls from NBC News/Wall Street Journal, CBS News and Morning Consult. The new information came ahead of Thursday's tax bill release, which had been expected Wednesday morning. Here is what we know right now about how Americans feel about the GOP tax overhaul, according to the latest polls:

Some GOP selling points aren't sinking in. One of Republicans' biggest talking points is that a corporate tax cut will benefit workers (though even right-wing economists have cast doubt on White House estimates on this point).

But nearly 60 percent of people believe corporations won't "use that money to create jobs," according to the CBS poll. Likewise, approximately half of people in both the CBS and NBC/WSJ polls said they think the bill would grow the economy — a plurality but not a clear majority.

Do Americans like the GOP's tax proposals? It's complicated. The plurality of respondents — 39 percent — say they don't have an opinion about whether the tax plan is good or bad, according to NBC/WSJ. Just over one-third said it's a bad idea, and 25 percent said it's a good idea.

But nearly half in Morning Consult's poll said they "support" Republicans' proposal, compared with 37 percent who do not support it.

But once again, the bill hasn't even been released yet. Once the theoretical tax plan is a real, publicly available package of ideas, any of these results could easily change.

Some proposals get solid support. Americans can get behind at least a few potential parts of the tax plan: Around two-thirds of Americans like the idea of increasing the child tax credit, reducing the tax rate for small businesses and doubling the standard deduction (a proposal that could, however, be offset by eliminating personal exemptions), according to Morning Consult's poll.

Americans are skeptical of corporations. Just over half of Americans believe taxes should be increased on large corporations, and only one-quarter believe that tax cuts for corporations would indirectly benefit them, according to the CBS poll.

And Americans are divided on specific corporate-tax proposals: According to the Morning Consult poll, 37 percent approve of cutting the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent — and 41 percent are opposed. Likewise, Americans were roughly equally divided on allowing businesses to "immediately write off the cost of new investments," a proposal known as "full expensing."

They want higher taxes for the rich — maybe. CBS found that 58 percent of Americans believe taxes on the wealthy should be higher. But in a different question, 60 percent agreed that a tax cut on the wealthy would be fine, "as long as everyone else gets the same cut"; only 27 percent were against this idea.

Potential 401(k) changes are unpopular. Given all the tax cuts they've floated, Republicans will need to find some way to pay for their bill. One such idea that Republicans have floated is reducing 401(k) tax-free contributions to $2,400 per year from $18,000. Fifty-one percent of Morning Consult respondents opposed that, compared with just 25 percent who supported it.

High tax states, will increase the taxes on middle class homeowners. Homes in areas where the average price is over$500,000 will not be able to deduct the full cost of state property taxes. This is a political attack on the state's that don't vote for Republicans.

Small business owners will not benefit because their tax rate is not being reduced nearly as much as the big corporations. The fiction that the corporations will give the tax reductions to increased waves is fiction. The stockholders are going to benefit, not employees.

The Republican party spent unbelievable hours complaining about the deficits under President Obama. This will lead to approximately $1.5 trillion dollar increases in the national debt.

legislation and many of the details in it. But he also called for fully removing the property tax deduction, eliminating the top bracket on highest earners, and making full expensing for business investments permanent -- the current bill allows full expensing only for five years.

“While the Ways and Means proposal is a big step in the right direction, Congress has the chance to improve the tax plan to further enhance the proposed reforms’ benefits for all Americans,” Michel said.

Republicans leaders have also warned for weeks about special interests and lobbyists attempting to preserve certain provisions of the code. Though such efforts have been ongoing for weeks as tax writers worked in private, those fights will now break into the open and expand to all lawmakers as the bill works its way to the floor.

One of the most significant changes in the bill is capping the mortgage interest deduction at $500,000 for new homeowners -- though it would be preserved in current form for current homeowners. That cap could be problematic for taxpayers in expensive housing markets.

William Brown, the president of the National Association of Realtors, said in a statement shortly after the bill’s release that “at first glance it appears to confirm many of our biggest concerns. … Eliminating or nullifying the tax incentives for homeownership puts home values and middle class homeowners at risk, and from a cursory examination this legislation appears to do just that.”

This isn't going to be a Christmas present like Trump said. But we are used to him lying daily.
