Under Closer examination

According to those who have taken this CNN picture of Beverly Young's yearbook signature, blown it up and did some preliminary analysis. The analysis shows that the writing and (possibly) the ink appears to be different for the: "Moore, D.A. 12-22-77 Old Hickory House"  portion of the signature. Take a look see?

If you look a little closer, it doesn't really seem like the first and last name are even in sync, the numbers after Christmas (1977) bear little resemblance to the numbers 12-22-77, and the does anyone really think the writing for the "beautiful girl" portion and 'old hickory house" portion look the same? Moreover, there is speculation that the two portions were written in different colored ink.

Five possible explanations:
  1. That Roy Moore did sign it, but only signed it "Roy".  Beverly Young then (back in 1977) added the Moore, the D.A. (believing wrongly that he was the D.A. at the time), the date, and then name of the restaurant, all for her own reference (in case she otherwise might have forgotten who "Roy" was).
  2. That Roy Moore did sign it, but only signed it Roy. Beverly Young added the rest very recently, in order to bolster the claim that he did sign it. This might explain why the additional information was written to "appear" as part of the overall message.
  3. That Roy Moore signed it with two different pens, and the difference between the two pens somehow made his penmanship different.
  4. That someone else signed her yearbook, who's name was Ray or Roy.  Beverly Young added the rest in order to make it look like it was Roy Moore.
  5. That the entire thing is a forgery. A blatantly bad forgery.
Obviously, nothing can be determined conclusively without actual access to the Yearbook, which Beverly Young and Gloria Allred are basically refusing to turn over to any handwriting experts. It would now appear that their position on this one is motivated by self preservation.

Meanwhile: A man who claims to have dated Beverly Young at the time, says he does not believe the story from Beverly Young.  In fact, he doesn't recall Young even working at the restaurant in question back in 1977. Not that this "proves" anything. It's just the second person who has come out to question Beverly Young's overall credibility. and specifically to question this story.

It looks to me like someone named "Roy" signed it, and the rest was added subsequently.

i think you're onto something wp. and i'll bet that the rest was either added by trump himself, or a senior russian official with very close personal and political ties to trump.

hopefully this yearbook is is mueller's possession by now. those impeachment proceedings aren't going to start themselves.

Doesn't take a handwriting expert to see that it's a different color and off-line, and therefore likely to have been added subsequently.

Could be added by Moore himself, probably not, but even if that's the case it doesn't mean that "Roy" isn't Roy Moore. It doesn't appear to be even an attempt at forgery. More like an identification.

Natasha Stoynoff
Allegation: While she was interviewing Trump in 2005 for an article for People magazine about the first anniversary of his third marriage, Trump lured her into a room at Mar-a-Lago, forced her against a wall and abruptly kissed her, forcing his tongue into her mouth. He then said they were going to have an affair.

Rachel Crooks
Allegation: Trump in 2005 kissed her directly on the lips after she introduced herself and said she was a receptionist who worked for a company that did business with Trump

Cathy Heller
Allegation: While having Mother’s Day brunch at Mar-a-Lago in 1997 or 1998, her mother-in-law introduced her to Trump. She extended her hand to greet him and he grabbed her and kissed her on the mouth. She did turn her head slightly and so he wasn’t able to “get my whole mouth.”

Kristin Anderson

Allegation: While she was at a Manhattan nightclub in the early 1990s, Trump slid his fingers under her miniskirt, moved up her inner thigh and touched her vagina through her underwear.

Summer Zervos

Allegation: Trump kissed Zervos on the lips when he met her in his New York office, which upset Zervos, who had been a contestant on Season 5 of Trump’s “The Apprentice.” She then met Trump at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2007 for what she thought would be dinner; instead, she was escorted to his private bungalow. “I stood up and he came to me and started kissing me open-mouthed as he was pulling me toward him,” she said. “He then grabbed my shoulder and started kissing me again very aggressively and placed his hand on my breast.” He kept pursuing her, she said, at one point “thrusting his genitals” against her as he tried to kiss her. She said she again rebuffed him

Mindy McGillivray

Allegation: McGillivray said she was groped by Trump at Mar-a-Lago in 2003, when she was 23, at a photo shoot during a concert by Ray Charles. “All of a sudden I felt a grab, a little nudge. I think it’s Ken’s camera bag, that was my first instinct. I turn around and there’s Donald. He sort of looked away quickly. I quickly turned back, facing Ray Charles, and I’m stunned.’’ She told the Palm Beach Post she was certain it was not an accident. “This was a pretty good nudge. More of a grab,’’ she said. “It was pretty close to the center of my butt. I was startled. I jumped.’’

Jill Harth

Allegation: In the early 1990s, Jill Harth and her boyfriend at the time, George Houraney, worked with Trump on a beauty pageant in Atlantic City, and later accused Trump of inappropriate behavior toward Harth during their business dealings. She said that Trump pursued her and groped her; she alleged attempted rape in a sexual harassment suit that was withdrawn as a condition for settling a contract dispute. (We are including her account here because she gave interviews making these charges even after the lawsuit was withdrawn.) Trump had “his hands all over me,” Harth told the New York Times. “He was trying to kiss me. I was freaking out.”

Jessica Leeds

Allegation: Trump attacked her while seated next to her on an airline flight. More than three decades ago, when she was a traveling business executive at a paper company, Leeds told the New York Times in 2016, she sat beside Trump in the first-class cabin of a flight to New York. They had never met before. About 45 minutes after takeoff, Trump lifted the armrest and began to touch her. Trump grabbed her breasts and tried to put his hand up her skirt. “He was like an octopus,” Leeds said. “His hands were everywhere.” She fled to the back of the plane. “It was an assault,” she said.

Temple Taggart McDowell: The 1997 Miss Utah USA said Trump kissed her directly on the lips, at a time he was married to Marla Maples and McDowell was 21. Later, when she visited Trump Tower to discuss a modeling contract, she says Trump again embraced and kissed her on the lips, this time in front of two pageant chaperones and a receptionist. The New York encounter made one of the chaperones so “uncomfortable” that she advised McDowell not to go into any rooms with Trump alone, McDowell told NBC News.

Karena Virginia: A yoga instructor said Trump harassed and groped her during a chance encounter at the U.S. Open in 1998. Virginia said Trump, a total stranger, then grabbed her arm and touched her breast. “I was in shock,” Virginia said. “I flinched. He said, ‘Don’t you know who I am?’ I felt intimidated and powerless. I said ‘yes.’”

Jennifer Murphy: A former Apprentice contestant said Trump in 2004 kissed her on the lips. “He walked me to the elevator, and I said goodbye. I was thinking ‘oh, he’s going to hug me,’ but … he pulled my face in and gave me a smooch.”

Ninni Laaksonen: A former Miss Finland said Trump in 2006 grabbed her bottom shortly after he had married Melania. “Trump stood right next to me and suddenly he squeezed my butt. He really grabbed my butt.”

Jessica Drake: A porn star and sex educator said that during a 2006 golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Trump “grabbed” her and two other unnamed women tightly and kissed them on the lips “without asking permission.” He then offered Drake $10,000 and the use of his private plane, she said, if she would agree to come back to his room and accompany him to a party.

Al Franken was amateur.

But of course, this is all Fake News.

Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones' newest campaign ad quotes prominent "conservative voices" criticizing his Republican opponent, Roy Moore, over the many sexual misconduct allegations made against him.

The ad includes quotes from Ivanka Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.).

"Ivanka Trump says 'there's a special place in hell for people who prey on children,' and 'I have no reason to doubt the victims' accounts,'" a narrator says in the advertisement. "Jeff Sessions says 'I have no reason to doubt these young women.' And Richard Shelby says he will 'absolutely not vote for Roy Moore.'"

"Conservative voices putting children and women over party – doing what's right," it continues.

This whole thing is the Republican party is putting the party over the best interest in the United States.

The attempt to justify voting for a child molester in order to pass tax "reform", is disgusting. Couple that with the attempt to equalize a comedian grabbing some ass, to multiple attempts to s solicit sex with teen age girls, down to 14 years old, the President and the Republicans are the swamp. Why Democrats Must Regain the Trust of Religious Voters

Calls for the Democrats to return to a robust religious outreach have received pushback among some influential voices. The Democratic Party has spent much of the first-year that Republicans have controlled both the White House and Congress by debating which Democratic voters it can afford to cut loose—specifically, whether there’s a place in the party for pro-life voters at all. Following a controversy involving Heath Mello—a candidate for mayor in Omaha, Nebraska, who was deemed to be insufficiently pro-choice—Democratic party chairman Tom Perez said in a statement that it was “not negotiable” that every Democrat should support abortion rights. Mello lost the election to a Republican. Perez’s standard was news to 23 million pro-life Democrats, and Democratic elected officials who have received party support even if they hold nuanced positions on abortion.

No matter how consistently NARAL’s candidates lose to vehemently pro-life, down-the-line Republican politicians, they continue to attack successful Democrats who do not go along with whatever the new litmus test issue is for being “fully pro-choice.” In the closing weeks of the 2016 election, NARAL was running victory laps with its chosen candidate, Katie McGinty, apparently deciding abortion rights was a strong way to close out a campaign in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, Pat Toomey was elected to a second term, a seat that nearly cost Democrats and the nation repeal of the Affordable Care Act, and just last month served as the deciding vote on the Republican budget.

Think how different things would be if the Democrats had a pro-life, pro-gun rights candidate in Alabama.

Sex, lies & excuses: Partisan madness on predators

Moore’s alleged conduct was felonious and morally depraved. Franken appears to have acted like a repellent creep, which is bad but misdemeanor-bad. It seems important at a moment when a national narrative is galloping along at Secretariat speed to be able to separate the two.

But this isn’t the distinction drawn by two shocking feminist enabler/defenders of Franken. The Washington Post’s Kate Harding, author of a book on “rape culture,” and New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg both acknowledge that their feminist ideologies should lead them to want Franken to be ousted from his seat.

But they both insist that the rules should be different from the very rules they would impose on everyone else in America — because, well, Franken is a Democrat and America needs to be saved from Republicans.

Harding says Franken should be saved and should then go on a listening tour of far-left Democrats and become their front man as penance for his rotten behavior.

“In a sharply divided political climate where toxic masculinity knows no party, yet is only ever acknowledged by one, we must think about how to minimize harm to women,” she writes.

“One more empty apology and resignation . . . will not make American women safer or better off. Powerful men lifting up women’s concerns and supporting progressive women candidates, however, could be a real step toward changing the culture that makes victims of so many of us.”

Or as Woody Allen, himself a notable figure in the annals of toxic masculinity, said in the movie he made celebrating an affair with a 17-year-old girl: “I’m a bigot, but for the left.”

Goldberg spends an entire column concerned about seeming like a hypocrite. She says there’s just no good choice for a poor feminist such as herself in this case. But she basically argues that to support Franken’s removal from office would be a case of Democratic “unilateral disarmament” against the anything-goes Republicans who nominated and helped elect Donald Trump.

And this is what Roy Moore’s defenders say — but in reverse. “We don’t need a liberal person in there, a Democrat,” Trump declared today. Even if Moore’s guilty, so the thinking goes, he’s necessary for the nation’s future to deny Democrats another Senate seat. And that is necessary for the passage of the tax-reform bill.

Oh, and to help restore America’s moral code in the long run. Yes, you heard that right. Basically, they say, we need an ephebophile to purify this country.

These responses reveal the poisonous extent to which nakedly political and partisan concerns are corrupting every aspect of American civic culture.

The one caveat I have is: "What if the accusations against Moore proved to be false?"

WASHINGTON—Federal regulators’ plans for dismantling Obama-era open-internet rules would clear the way for a range of new deals between internet-service providers and online media and other services, in a victory for cable and wireless firms.

The proposed changes—outlined Tuesday by Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai —already were sparking a lively debate over potential impacts on the internet as well as online businesses and consumers.

Under Mr. Pai’s proposal, internet providers such as Comcast Corp., Verizon Communications Inc., Charter Communications Inc. and AT&T Inc., would be able to form alliances with media and other online firms such as Facebook Inc. to offer web services at higher speeds and quality.

They also wouldn’t be barred from slowing rival services to encourage greater use of the website that is paying them, provided such arrangements are disclosed.

The Obama-era rules pushed so-called net neutrality, with internet providers required to treat all web traffic equally. The rules limited the providers’ ability to block or slow online services, or favor content—including their own.

Even if the actual allegations of criminal conduct is not true, he should not be Senator because when he was in his early 30's he was attracted to and pursued girls in their late teens and early twenties?

Just curious...

Police Were Told To Keep Roy Moore Away From High School Cheerleaders, Retired Officer Says

A retired Alabama police officer said she and her colleagues were told decades ago to “make sure” Roy Moore “didn’t hang around” high school cheerleaders, and confirmed previous reports that the Republican Senate candidate was banned at the time from a local mall for predatory behavior toward teenage girls.

"Gary did not clarify who issued the warnings, saying they “were just rumors” that circulated both at the local police department and courthouse. She also said that while working on juvenile cases as an officer, she never received a formal complaint about Moore."

Apparently it's *everyone's* argument, that Moore's widely known behavior towards young girls bolsters the claims of those alleging unwanted sexual harassment and worse.

You don't think it's a valid argument? Not worthy to even think about, just elect the guy and who cares about the allegations?

Well WP, I am willing to concede the argument that an older man attracted to younger women, will be more predisposed to romantic/sexual interest with younger women.

Just as I would accept the argument that someone who is attracted to Asian women, will be more predisposed to romantic/sexual interest with Asian women.

Just as I would accept the argument that someone who is attracted to robust women, will be more predisposed to romantic/sexual interest with robust women.

Etc... etc....

I would even concede that interest in younger girls is more likely than the other situations to be considered "unwanted" by the younger girls, who are probably not attracted to a 32 year old guy, and in some case not really ready for a romantic/sexual relationship with anyone.

But does the attraction to a certain type of girl, woman, or even an attraction to someone of the same sex, actually make that person more likely to rape and sexually abuse an unwilling example of the sort of person they are attracted to?

You can never seem to quit when your logically ahead. You always have to push it just past that point.

Not rape, since that's a crime of violence more than of attraction, but yes. People who sexually attracted to very young women are a small minority, an aberration, but of that small portion of men, yes of course they are more likely to act on that attraction than are men who are not sexually attracted to very young women. Unquestionably, it bolsters the claims.

The problem here isn't my taking one more step of logic - it's your failure to follow.

WP....

What's an aberration globally and historically is the idea that someone has to pass their 18th birthday before you can be attracted to them. Such an idea is actually quite arbitrary and makes no biological sense. But for whatever reasons it makes people today, in America feel good.

But just because we have arbitrarily set the age of 18 as some sort of social standard, doesn't mean that someone attracted to 16 and 17 year girls (or boys) can automatically be assumed to be a rapist.

But I guess that's your theory and you are sticking to it.

You're being ridiculous. A certain population having a greater likelihood of a quality doesn't imply that that they're "automatically be assumed" to have have it. That's really a classical strawman on your part, but maybe it's just a reasoning failure? I don't know, but it's important that you realize that either way, that was irrational.

That men who are sexually attracted to immature young women are more likely to sexually molest them does not mean that they're "automatically be assumed" to molest them. It DOES bolster the claim when they are accused of that. Conversely, if Moore had never shown any interest in underage girls, and had never pursued them, you'd be quick to point that out in his defense, as it would cast doubt on such claims.

C.H. Truth said...

So by that logic, the statistical fact that black people commit more crime... bolsters the claim of any criminal act a black person is accused of?

wphamilton said...

If the person is known to have committed crimes in the past, then it's more credible that he committed another that he's accused of. You don't get to use that in court usually, but you be the police do to find and arrest someone.
