Don't Judge them, liberals just want to be popular kids...

The debate rages on about Donald Trump, his actions as President, and his effect on the country.

To say there is disagreement as to whether or not Donald Trump is doing a good job or a poor job is an understatement. To say there is disagreement as to the direction of our country, is probably a bigger understatement.

For the past couple of decades, the Economy and Terrorism have consistently been at or near the top of the list of National priorities.

  • Economically (and isn't it the economy stupid?) we are doing stellar. We are seeing the recently deemed impossible 3% growth, wages have been going up, we are approaching what economist consider "full employment", manufacturing is rebounding, and tangible wealth (in terms of home values and market investments) have been growing like a weed. For the first time, in a long time... our national economy, personal wages, and personal wealth are all growing, rather than just crawling along on life support.
  • Meanwhile, what happened to ISIS? Almost all of their caliphate has been uprooted, they are in shambles and on the run. Apparently it took little more than turning over strategic control to the military experts to seize back control in the region (go figure that Military experts knew better than the Obama administration how to fight a military battle). The media doesn't much report on this, but to a large degree when the media is not reporting on ISIS and coordinated ISIS terror attacks, that's a pretty good thing.

But none of this will matter to the left. They pay lip service to the things that are supposedly important, when they are allowed to complain about it. Even when Obama was President, complaining about the economy and terrorism was just more reason to elect someone who would follow his footsteps. Now that the economy and the war on terror has made a turn for the better, they no longer believe such things are important.

What matters... apparently... is optics. Liberals want (and quite possibly need) the approval from European elites and random Arab leaders and they are upset that these people don't like Trump. They want (and quite possibly need) the approval from coastal elitists, Hollywood, and academics, and of course find validation when these people also don't like Trump.

Apparently they need everyone to think that our President is "cool" (at least in the liberal sense).

Why fret over whether or not you can pay your mortgage, if you get laid off at work, or if you are killed in a terror attack? It's much more important to worry about what the President might tweet, and who might somewhere be offended by it.

Oh my god, he pulled out of this Obama agreement, ended that Obama resolution, and apparently he isn't honoring Obama's deal with so and so about such and such.  But let's be clear here folks. If these agreements, accords, and resolutions were so important, then they would have been ratified as treaties or passed as laws by Congress. The fact that they can be undone by a Trump decision, shows just how fragile and unimportant they actually are.

At the end of the day, Barack Obama was more popular with foreign leaders and the liberal elitists, because Obama followed exactly what the those people wanted him to do. He was a puppet. Trump will never be as popular, because Trump will do what Trump feels (right or wrong) is in America's best interest.

Bottom line:

Obama (and his liberal following) want to sit with the "cool kids" - even if they have to pay homage and follow along to garner that seat. Trump (and his followers) don't even think those are the "cool kids" - they have no desire to sit with them and don't really give a shit what they think.  That's a hard gap to bridge.

Big Drop In Voters Identifying as Republicans

NBC News: “From November 2016 to November 2017 there was a 5-point drop in the number of people who call themselves Republicans, from 42% to 37%, according to Gallup. In that same time, the number of people identifying as Democrats stayed flat at 44%.”

“Do the math and a 2-point edge for the Democrats in party identification, 44% to 42%, has been pushed to 7 points, 44% to 37%, in just one year. That’s getting up into the area that may be a concern for Republicans in the 2018 midterms, where a big swing in party allegiance could lead to a swing in House and Senate seats. “

Let's see,, Trump inherited in an economy that had been on the longest string of growth in history. He also inherited a war in Afghanistan that was getting better than it had for most of his term. Trump made no changes in the military strategy. Besides, hes too busy watching television for five hours a day. So he has no knowledge of what the military strategy is, or the details in economic affairs. He went through five bankruptcies so he hasn't done shit except to make claims that the cult people are beyond a doubt, he did both of these things.

1: Economically (and isn't it the economy stupid?) we are doing stellar. Trump’s tweet on ‘special’ tax cut bill backfires

Geobeats
President Trump’s Saturday tweet on the GOP tax bill sparked many negative reactions on social media.

“Getting closer and closer on the Tax Cut Bill. Shaping up even better than projected. House and Senate working very hard and smart,” Trump tweeted on Saturday. “End result will be not only important, but SPECIAL!”

However, Twitter users seemed largely skeptical about the bill’s benefits, with tweets like,

“You call it a tax cut but ultimately it only cuts taxes for the wealthy in the long run,”

and “I’m sure all the rich people are really happy!”

“Better for the top 1% or for the real people???” wrote another tweeter.

“The tax bill that the vast majority of Americans do not support. The one that says it benefits the middle class when in fact it benefits the wealthy,” someone else tweeted.

The Washington Post published a piece on Saturday, delving into the tax bill’s divergence from Trump’s campaign promise.

As top lawmakers from the House and the Senate now rush to complete negotiations to push the tax plan into law, it amounts to a massive corporate tax cut, with uneven – and temporary – benefits for the middle class that could end up increasing taxes for many working families in future years,” the Post noted.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION:

My name is James Boswell and I am an ordained pastor in good standing with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the region of Illinois and Wisconsin. Years ago I began participating in a political blog known as The Coldheartedtruth (coldheartedtruth.blogspot.com), a blog hosted by S. Scott Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I soon learned that it was a vicious blog where bad language, personal attacks, and outright racism could be found daily.

The blog host said that he discouraged those things, and whenever he did ask for greater civility with less obscenity, name calling, and personal attacks, it did get some results, but not for long. Unfortunately, he never continued making such requests, and even allowed one blogger to call our former president a black monkey and his wife a cheap Chicago w***e without reproaching him at all.

Because I occasionally quoted from religious articles I publish in a local newspaper, one blogger was able to discover my true identity and the church I was then serving and she put this information on the blog, repeatedly. The host should not have allowed this, but he did not intervene.

This woman hates me because I have stated that my own position regarding abortion is similar to that of the United Methodist Church’s, a position which she considers to be reprehensible. For this reason she began blatantly lying about me, stating that I had been fired by my (then) church. The truth, which I can prove by means of regional records, is that I have never in over fifty years of ministry been fired by any church which I have ever served, including the one I am serving now.

More recently one of the bloggers has begun referring to me as a pedophile, linking that slander to my real name and the name of the town where I live, thus making my address and phone number easily attainable.

As an ordained pastor, I am subject to frequent background checks which make clear that my record with regard to that accusation is totally clean: I have never, ever been accused by anyone of abusing any child.

I have asked the host of the blog to delete those slanderous, libelous references to me, slanders which several other bloggers have also made. He refuses to do so.

Now, I am not interested in making this a test case, for one simple reason. We all know that if a pastor is officially linked to pedophilia, everyone tends to assume that he/she is guilty. I myself tend to think like that whenever a pastor or priest is so charged, for there is usually a victim who is making the charge.

In my case, however, there is no victim, no victim at all, for I have never been accused by any child or parent, grandparent, or child’s relative of having committed any kind of child abuse. Again, my record is clean.

No one who reads the blog believes that accusation in the least, for if they did, they would feel obligated to report me to the authorities and to my church’s regional leadership. They have done neither because they know the charge is spurious, nothing more than a hateful epithet hurled at me.

But let us say that someone did take the charge seriously and it should somehow lead to career or employment difficulties for me. Would the blog host then be legally responsible?

Sincerely, Rev. Jim Boswell, Normal, IL

Schiff Says Evidence of Collusion is ‘Pretty Damning’

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, told CNN that there is considerable evidence the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

Said Schiff: “We have all of these facts in chronology, you’d have to believe that these were all isolated incidents, not connected to each other — just doesn’t make rational sense… We do know this:
the Russians offered help,
the campaign accepted help,
the Russians gave help
and the president made full use of that help.
That is pretty damning, whether it is proof beyond a reasonable doubt of conspiracy or not.”

Yesterday I posted a copy/past from an op/ed from the "cool" people who were nerds and wants to be popular and "cool". This entire post seems to be a response to the piece fro the "Fake News" Wall Street Journal, William A. Galston. A former policy advisor to President Clinton and presidential candidates, Galston is an expert on domestic policy, political campaigns, and elections. Obviously a nerd wanna be cool guy. Yes, I am beig sarcastic. Anyhow, he elegantly tore apart the President and how he has deeply damaged the reputation of the United States around the world.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-world-has-taken-trumps-measure-1512519571

Donald Trump campaigned on a pledge to make America great again. As president he is doing the opposite: He is making America smaller than at any time in the past 100 years.

By pulling the U.S. out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Mr. Trump has ceded economic leadership in Asia and beyond to China, whose president touts the Chinese model to other countries that want the blessings of prosperity without the inconveniences of liberty. To back up this offer, China is investing huge sums in its “One Belt, One Road” plan and in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

These moves are having the intended effect. Myanmar, which had long been dominated by anti-Chinese sentiment, is now accepting China’s blandishments. The country’s leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, went to Beijing last week for a conference hosted by the Communist Party.
.....
Lots more of proof that Trump is the biggest disaster in history. And it's getting worse, as his mental condition continues to deteriorate.
....

The world has taken President Trump’s measure. In a 2017 survey of 37 countries, 64% of people expressed confidence in Barack Obama’s ability to do the right thing in international affairs, compared with 22% for Mr. Trump. The current president’s figures were 11% in Germany, 14% in France, and 22% in the U.K. The principal exception was Russia, where Mr. Trump enjoyed 53% approval, compared with 11% for Mr. Obama.

In 1776, at the threshold of American independence, the Founding Fathers espoused a “decent respect to the opinions of mankind.” Today, citizens of countries around the world regard the U.S. as morally diminished under Mr. Trump’s leadership. He shows no signs of caring, and he probably doesn’t.

Merry Trumpday to our host.

In Franken's wake, three senators call on President Trump to resign
The Washington Post 4 hrs ago

Multiple women have accused President Trump of sexual misconduct over the years.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and two of his Democratic colleagues have suggested that President Trump should consider resigning, after a run of sexual harassment scandals that has driven out some members of Congress.

Sen. Al Franken “felt it proper for him to resign,” Sanders said in an interview with NBC's “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning, referring to the Democrat from Minnesota. “Here you have a president who has been accused by many women of assault, who says on a tape that he assaulted women. He might want to think about doing the same.”

Sanders's comment, which built on a tweet he'd sent last week, came after Democratic Sens. Jeff Merkley (Ore.) and Cory Booker (N.J.) suggested that the "#MeToo moment” should prompt another look at the women who accused Trump of sexual harassment during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“The president should resign because he certainly has a track record with more than 17 women of horrific conduct,” Merkley said last week in an interview for the weekday version of “Meet the Press.”

On Saturday, during his campaign swing as part of Alabama's U.S. Senate race, Booker told Vice News that the standard that brought down Franken should be applied to the president.

“I just watched Senator Al Franken do the honorable thing and resign from his office,” Booker said. “My question is, why isn’t Donald Trump doing the same thing — who has more serious allegations against him, with more women who have come forward. The fact pattern on him is far more damning than the fact pattern on Al Franken.”

Democrats made those comments just days after a largely ceremonial effort to impeach Trump, pushed by Rep. Al Green (D-Tex.), failed in the House of Representatives. Although polling has found that a large number of voters favor an effort to remove Trump from office, most Democrats have suggested that investigations into the 2016 Trump campaign's Russia connections continue.

In a Quinnipiac University poll released last week, 70 percent of respondents said Congress should “investigate the accusations of sexual harassment against President Trump.”

His television show ratings were better than every one of those late night hosts that make fun of him. He won the GOP nomination and managed to get elected as President of the United States.

I don't have to like him or his behavior to respect the accomplishments. I didn't like Obama, but respected his accomplishments.

Most Doubt GOP Bill Will Cut Their Taxes

A new USA Today/Suffolk University Poll finds just 32% support the GOP tax plan while 48% oppose it.
Key finding: “That’s the lowest level of public support for any major piece of legislation enacted in the past three decades, including the Affordable Care Act in
2009.

“Americans are skeptical of the fundamental arguments Republicans have made in selling the bill: A 53% majority of those surveyed predict their own families won’t pay lower taxes as a result of the measure, and an equal 53% say it won’t help the economy in a major way.”

Elizabeth Shackelford, who was seen as a rising star at the State Department, wrote a scathing resignation letter, “accusing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and the Trump administration of undercutting the State Department and damaging America’s influence in the world,” Foreign Policy reports.

Shackelford “wrote to Tillerson that she reluctantly had decided to quit because the administration had abandoned human rights as a priority and shown disdain for the State Department’s diplomatic work.

“Her former colleagues said her departure — and the sentiments expressed in her letter — reflect a wider exodus of midcareer diplomats who have lost confidence in Tillerson’s management and the Trump administration’s approach toward diplomacy.”

Gallup: Party Affiliation in U.S. Continues to Shift Toward Republicans
Polls
February 1, 2017
author: PPD Elections Staff

People hold signs during a campaign rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. (Photo: AP)
Not only do Republican states continue to outnumber Democratic states, but every single shift in party affiliation over the year has benefited the GOP.

According to Gallup U.S. Daily, 21 states are now classified as solid or leaning Republican, 14 are solid or leaning Democratic and 15 states are competitive.
That represents a monumental shift from a 30-state advantage for the Democrats in 2008 to a 7-state advantage for Republicans. Gallup’s findings are largely in line with the latest results published on the PPD Battleground State Voter Profiles, which found only a slightly larger Democratic advantage in Virginia. However, independents continued to shift their allegiance toward the GOP, resulting in a state that is still very much competitive.

I have to correct an earlier post.

It's not just his sexual assault on children isn't sufficient to disqualify a candidate for the US Senate. He would repeal the every Amendment after the 10th Amendment, he believes that the country was better before the Civil War and the end of slavery. He would probably make my marriage illegal. He would make homosexuality illegal and ban Muslims in the congress and serving in the military. How can even the most conservative Republican vote for the this man. The Republican party, that was necessary to pass the civil rights act and the voting rights act, is being corrupted by the President. I have friends and family who are Republicans have to save the Grand Old Party from Donald J Trump.

This is right. he would repeal ever amendment after 10. Women coulsn't vote. Slavery would be legal. It looks like rrb's fantasy world.

Trump became an "icon" of the right with his birther comments. That got him in the door. He used the feelings of those who are afraid of a changing world, to get enough votes to get the nomination and the office. Since then, with very very very few instances he was successful But for most of the time he's made the United States a laughing stock.

You said you don't always agree with him, but when in hell are we going to see a post here criticizing him, instead of blaming the free press for reporting with a FEW exceptions? Or notice that he's a fucking idiot who spends four to five hours a day watching television and making a list or 2o is naughty or nice and writing tweets against his enemies, instead of getting informed on foreign affairs and getting to understand the other leaders of our allies and enemies. Yet you write 500 word screed about a mistake on CNN and claiming that the evil liberals are trying to be cool kids.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Then there is this: At the end of the day, Barack Obama was more popular with foreign leaders and the liberal elitists, because Obama followed exactly what the those people wanted him to do. He was a puppet.

Even if this was true and it's patently ridiculous, but I would much prefer a puppet than a clown in the White House.

Bingo.

Shutting down free speech on college campuses isn't cool.

Demanding we observe a law that's been struck down by the Supreme Court twice isn't cool.

Demanding open borders when they lock their own doors isn't cool.

Democrats boycotting an inauguration in lock step isn't cool.

Democrats supporting Antifa isn't cool.

Democrats trying to kill political opponents isn't cool.

So yeah, I for one don't give a shit what WP, or ANY damn other nevertrumper, thinks.

I don't need the President to be up in my ass creating worthless laws/regulations, later to be overturned by the Supreme Court...like the two-bit community organizer did almost daily.

By discarding Obama-era rules of engagement and giving the military greater freedom, the Trump administration has decimated ISIS with a speed that’s even surprising commanders on-the-ground.

With less than a year in office, President Trump has overseen massive gains against the Islamic caliphate, with the once-powerful terror state losing city after city.

ISIS once governed immense territory in Iraq and Syria, ruling over 8 million people and controlling profitable refineries, agriculture, smuggling routes, and arsenals.

Now, ISIS controls only 3 percent of Iraq and 5 percent of Syria. Their leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is in hiding. American forces and regional allies have liberated key cities like Mosul, Raqqa, Tel Afar, and Rawa.

Brig. Gen. Andrew Croft, the ranking U.S. Air Force officer in Iraq, told Fox News he credits the Trump administration with providing the right leadership.

“The leadership team that is in place right now has certainly enabled us to succeed,” Croft said. “I couldn’t ask for a better leadership team to work for, to enable the military to do what it does best.”

well,

you intentionally allow your country to be overrun with violent moose-limbs from third world shitholes, don't be surprised if you're not scoring many style points with the natives.

europe, thanks to the "kumbaya / i'd like to buy the world a coke" crowd is committing suicide. ragheads are running wild, raping and molesting every woman within arms reach, the mayor of londonistan is a fucking moose-limb... it's no wonder that the natives are pissed.

merkel can't even form a coalition government for chrissakes.

there's a reason for this. all of this. but the reason cannot be discussed because it is the truth, it is politically incorrect, and it hurts.

Doug Jones Fail: “The Entire Democratic Party Is Trash”

The Free Beacon has the story of a mailer which the Jones campaign sent out which seems to have backfired in a big way. The piece of campaign literature which showed up in mailboxes across traditionally minority-heavy precincts had an off-key message which, as one analyst put it, was probably thought up by a white guy trying to picture how black voters think.

ABC’s “This Week” host Martha Raddatz said she wanted to get Sewell’s reaction on the mailer, citing a local African American voter who told a local news outlet that he would not be voting in Alabama’s special election because it was a “complete slap in the face.”

“Think if a black man went after high school girls anyone would try to make him a Senator?” the mailer read…

The Root, an online magazine dedicated to black culture, published a piece on Thursday entitled, “A Racist Flyer Might Cost Doug Jones the Election Because the Entire Democratic Party Is Trash.”

This backfired bigly.

And of course Mark Sanford, who famously disappeared while on a tryst with his mistress during his tenure as governor of South Carolina, leading to the “hiking the Appalachian Trail” explanation, which still has to rank as one of the worst cover-up lines in political history. Although possibly now under stiff competition from Moore’s response when asked whether he’d dated teenage girls. (“Not generally.”)

Last November Republicans made up 27%, Independents made up 40% and Democrats made up 30%.

This November Republicans made up 25% (down 2%), Independents made up 42% (up 2%), and Democrats made up the exact same 30%.

Maybe a prelude to what the SCOTUS will find.....

On Sept. 21, Chief US District Court Judge John Tunheim dismissed a discrimination case — and seized the opportunity to make an important point about hate. The case involved business owners Carl and Angel Larsen, who filed a lawsuit in December 2016 after a provision in Minnesota's Human Rights Act outlawed discrimination . . . essentially arguing for their right to discriminate. The Larsens, who hail from St. Cloud and run a videography business, were challenging the provision so they could maintain the right to refuse wedding video services to same-sex couples. They argued that the law indicated "a state effort to stamp out expression opposing same-sex marriage."

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Judge Tunheim said in his ruling that the couple's conduct was "akin to a 'White Applicants Only' sign" and could be outlawed without infringing on First Amendment rights. "Posting language on a website telling potential customers that a business will discriminate based on sexual orientation is part of the act of sexual orientation discrimination itself," Tunheim stated. "As conduct carried out through language, this act is not protected by the First Amendment."

While the couple reportedly plans to appeal the ruling, it's still a pretty remarkable shut-down by a federal judge. It just goes to show that, even though Donald Trump is nominating transphobic men who call transgender children a part of "Satan's plan," there are still government officials working to protect the rights of all Americans. And that includes individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. What's more, this decision may be a good omen when it comes to another court case involving a high-profile wedding business that refuses to serve same-sex couples. This Fall, the Supreme Court will hear the case of baker Jack Phillips, a Colorado cake baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple because their sexuality "opposed his beliefs."

From the Founding fathers to Lincoln to FDR to Eisenhower to JFK to Reagan to Clinton to Obama. Presidents are just like us. Humans

When Presidents ARE just like us it's a problem. US Presidents need to be, have to be, better than us. Smarter, more knowledge, political ability. And they absolutely have to have the integrity and strength of convictions to not let the power run away with them.

That is the one place where Trump might, and I emphasize I'm saying "might" have an edge: with his billions he's used to it. Now it could be that Trump was already lost, subsumed by the wealth and power that goes with it, long before he became President, or it could be that he's inured to it, or maybe the wealth is just what he's always had, a game, and he'll be caught up by it just like anyone might. I think the jury is still out on that, but logically Trump would have an easier time handling it.

I got off on a tangent, but I think it's extremely important that we don't just settle for "one of us" in a position like that. Just a regular guy, a normal human, is going to fail. The stakes are too high for that.
