Liberals "generally" love to listen to European countries?

Germans fear huge loss of jobs from US tax reform

German investment in the US is expected to rise by €39 billion because of lower US corporate taxes
While Americans are anxiously awaiting full details of the tax bill now being finalized in Congress, German economists are warning that the changes sought by President Donald Trump mean that significant amounts of new investment and jobs will shift from Europe to the United States
“The tax competition will have a new dimension,” said Christoph Spengel, chairman of the corporate tax department at the University of Mannheim. Mr. Spengel, who is also a research associate at the Center for European Economic Research, and a group of tax experts at the university have done a detailed comparison of the two countries’ tax systems and published a report under the heading, “Germany loses out in US tax reform.”
So according to a source that Liberals generally accept as gospel, the new tax bill will spur European investment to the United States, and move new jobs to the United States along with it. While the "sky is falling" liberals around here, just see a giant "corporate giveaway" - Europeans understand that this will have the tangible effect of giving the US Corporations a competitive advantage in the global economy.

Democrats vow to fight the tax cut all the way to the midterms and make it an election issue.

I hope they do.

This is why the mid term election is so important.

The Democrats are behind this drive to #impeachment.

The impeachment process was designed to remove an incompetent President for crimes and misdemeanors.

The ceremony was spooky beyond belief. As a life long observer of politics and a student of history, Donald Trump is both incompetent President, but is also a clear and dangerous threat to the United States.

Similar to Obama's first acceptance speech at the faux Greek temple that was setup for the Democrat convention.

Talking about creepy analogies to Nuremberg.

Just when I think the liberals here can be logical, they lose their damn minds and follow their Judas goats blindly.

i'll be looking for more 'brexit-like' maneuvers from other EU nations. some of them would be stupid to stay economically tethered to those economic central planners in brussels at a time when they'll need to re-discover what free market capitalism really is.

Dems will try to change the story by trying to cause a shutdown. But this time, Trump is more than up for the debate. He lives for these fights.

i don't think so. to do so would be suicide. democrats are stupid, no doubt about it, but a government shutdown at this point would be a galactically fucktarded hill to die on.

Another Bigly Win.

Just got off the phone with my health Insurance Agent, she said her office has been swamped with people like me wanting to revert to my pre- * care, policy.

She said she will change it Jan 7th, 2018, pro-rate my paid policy refund AND going forward I save $2,000 a year, and my household co-pays and caps drop.

Thanks President Trump.

Sign this bill in 2018.

While the "sky is falling" liberals around here, just see a giant "corporate giveaway" - Europeans understand that this will have the tangible effect of giving the US Corporations a competitive advantage in the global economy.

You don't see how it could be both? Is it enough edge to inject more into the economy than the ramifications of the giveaway drags it down, that's the big question.

There is a flip side to that question, one that I'm sure that Trump has spoken about. I need to consult RRB's massive intellect because only he is smart enough to know when Trump is exaggerating, but assuming that it wasn't bullshit, Trump has proposed slapping taxes on foreign corporations when they've benefited from unfair subsidies and exploitation of workers. That would also give US corporations a competitive advantage. And perhaps even, US workers could regain a competitive advantage. It appears to be low on the radar ... or perhaps bullshit, if my oracle of Trumpism deigns to speak.

It would have been nice if the tax package had also improved the competitive advantage of the US worker, by injecting more than the token amount into his available income. Which is generally the more effective economic stimulus if that's really the primary goal.

C.H. Truth said...

You don't see how it could be both?

No. Because the statement goes to intent.

The left is all about the concept that half the country just wants to see the rich get richer and corporations make more money... because liberals simply must believe that half the country is apparently just stupid that way.

But the GOP and Trump are all about how the lower corporate tax rates will help keep American companies and American jobs here, increase corporate investment in America and American jobs, while possibly even attracting more foreign investment in American companies and creating more American jobs.

So it really can't be both.

wphamilton said...

No. Because the statement goes to intent.

I'm talking about the effect, and I grant the presumption that both sides of this debate are concerned with the ultimate effect of their respective tax policy.

But the GOP and Trump are all about how the lower corporate tax rates will help keep American companies and American jobs here, increase corporate investment in America and American jobs,

The question is, does that ideological approach fail to the realities? If the ultimate result is that the drag induced by the ramifications of the giveaway are greater than the benefit of new corporate investment, then it does fail and the Democrats would have been right. All that happened in that case is the rich got richer and corporations made more money, and half the country (actually much much less than half are expressing such strong belief in this tax package) will have been duped.

I'm skeptical that the stimulus provided by a change that amounts to less than 2.2% of the gross product is going to make a vast difference in that economy. It certainly has less potential than reform in sectors that have much greater impact than 2.2%. We shall see.

C.H. Truth said...

the drag induced by the ramifications

I am curious about this statement. The terms "drag" and "ramifications" seem redundant (possibly on purpose). If I didn't know any better, I might assume that you are simply using negative terms (without explaining them) to create the illusion of a real argument?

Anonymous said...

WP the professional fence sitter.

wphamilton said...

"Drag" I just refer to the deleterious economic effect due to the several potential ramifications. One of the ramifications is having to service the greater debt down the road. Building the debt isn't necessarily an economic drag, but the ramification is having greater difficulty financing it. There are other ramifications which can lead to deleterious economic effects, but I don't think you want me to go into them now - but do you see the difference?
