Mueller required "ethics waiver" to allow for role as special counsel...

Justice Department won't disclose details on Mueller ethics waive
The Justice Department is refusing to reveal details of the process that led up to former FBI Director Robert Mueller being granted an ethics waiver to serve as special counsel investigating the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
In response to a POLITICO Freedom of Information Act request, the agency released a one-sentence memo Friday confirming that Mueller was granted a conflict-of-interest waiver in order to assume the politically-sensitive post.

Given the questions, as well as the questionable behavior or Robert Mueller, it seems almost unreal that the Justice Department is hiding this information from the public. But then again, between the Justice Department and the FBI, they seem to be hiding a lot of stuff relating to their investigation of Donald Trump.

Mueller, the FBI, and others are already being accused of gestapo style politically motivated smear of Donald Trump and his Administration. How could knowing the full truth in all of this be any worse than the allegations?

WIFE OF DEMOTED DOJ OFFICIAL WORKED FOR FUSION GPS
A senior Justice Department official demoted last week for concealing his meetings with the men behind the anti-Trump “dossier” had even closer ties to Fusion GPS, the firm responsible for the incendiary document, than have been disclosed, Fox News has confirmed: The official’s wife worked for Fusion GPS during the 2016 election.
Contacted by Fox News, investigators for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) confirmed that Nellie H. Ohr, wife of the demoted official, Bruce G. Ohr, worked for the opposition research firm last year. The precise nature of Mrs. Ohr’s duties – including whether she worked on the dossier – remains unclear but a review of her published works available online reveals Mrs. Ohr has written extensively on Russia-related subjects. HPSCI staff confirmed to Fox News that she was paid by Fusion GPS through the summer and fall of 2016.
You can't make this shit up.

A month after Hillary Clinton hired Fusion GPS (April 2016) to sub-contract retired British MI6 agent Christopher Steele to write the opposition research report “the Trump Russia Dossier”, Fusion GPS employee Nellie Ohr applied for a HAM radio license (May 23rd 2016); a communication tool that would allow Nellie Ohr and Christopher Steele the ability to communicate outside the normal risk of communication intercepts.

Keeping in mind, both Bruce and Nellie Ohr’s subject matter skill-set within the DOJ would provide them with a comprehensive understanding of how to network and communicate with international actors outside the traditional risk of communication intercepts. In short, Mrs. Nelli Ohr would know that using HAM radio frequencies would be a way to avoid the risk of U.S. intelligence intercepts on her communications.

The Clinton Campaign hired Fusion GPS in April 2016. Fusion GPS then sub-contracted retired British Intel MI6 agent Christopher Steele to write the Russian Dossier. A month later, May 23rd 2016, Fusion GPS employee Nellie Ohr gets HAM radio license.

So are we to believe it’s COINCIDENTAL? All of a sudden, a 60(ish)-year-old woman decides to use a HAM radio the month after contracting with Christopher Steele for a Russian opposition research dossier on Donald Trump?

So, this shadowy spook who has been spying most recently on international organized crime syndicates, and who is helping use the NSA surveillance capabilities against the Trump campaign, resorts to an obsolete technology dating from a century ago to communicate and not be captured by the very surveillance system they are subverting.

That is evidence of intent. Unless Mrs. Ohr can point to a history of fascination with ham radio – maybe she built a Heathkit rig in the 1960s or 70s? – this resort to radio looks like tradecraft – the stuff of spies.

In the year since Donald Trump was elected president on a promise to “drain the swamp” of Washington’s corruption, Americans have become more, not less, convinced that Washington is corrupt, and that the White House is the most corrupt institution in U.S. government.

A new public opinion poll conducted over the past two months found that Americans don’t believe that Trump is cleaning up the government. In fact, the opposite is true: 58 percent of people surveyed say the level of corruption has risen in the past 12 months, up from 34 percent who said the same in January 2016.

And more Americans put the blame at the top: 44 percent now believe that most or all of the officials in the Office of the President are corrupt—up from 36 percent last year, and worse than perceptions of Congress (38 percent of Americans believe Congress is the most corrupt institution).

Lets toss hillary under the bus again.....LOL

Commonsense said...

Given the public opinion poll was not named, I'll assume she just made it up in her head.

Commonsense said...

But I'll give them this, the corruption in Washington was far deeper and more pervasive than even Trump imagine.

It may take more than two-terms to root it out.

I woke up to see that the President wants another special investigation into the existing special investigation. I saw it on one of my alerts and logged into Trumpism stage four mentality blog. And what did I see?

Exactly what I expected.

This is like a time machine that is taking us back to 1974 and the Watergate investigation.

As usual the real question is quite simple.

"What did he know and when did he know it?"

I'm fully expecting a Saturday Night Massacre.

On top of this, we get an unnamed Justice department source from Faux News, so of course this isn't Fake News because it came from Fox News.

The real fact news is that some people, including the wife of an investor can exercise their Constitutional right to express their views on the President doesn't necessarily mean that they cannot conduct an honest investigation. The decision to demote the justice department doesn't mean that the entire department of justice is biased.

I read this and yup. I knew it. You should apply to be the press secretary.

BYRON YORK: Former top spy rethinks: Maybe we shouldn’t have attacked a new president.

“Let’s put ourselves in Donald Trump’s shoes,” Morell said to Glasser. “So what does he see? Right? He sees a former director of CIA and a former director of NSA, Mike Hayden … criticizing him and his policies. Right? And he would rightfully have said, ‘Huh, what’s going on with the intelligence guys?'”

“And then he sees a former acting director and deputy director of CIA criticizing him and endorsing his opponent,” Morell continued. “And then he gets his first intelligence briefing, after becoming the Republican nominee, and within 24 to 48 hours, there are leaks out of that that are critical of him and his then-national security adviser Mike Flynn.”

“And so, this stuff starts to build, right? And he must have said to himself, ‘What is it with these intelligence guys? Are they political?'”

The answer to that was simple: Yes, they were political. But the astonishing part of the Morell interview is his admission that at the time he did not stop to consider what was happening from Trump’s perspective, even as the leaks continued when Trump took office. “He must have thought, ‘Who are these guys?'” Morell said. “Are these guys out to get me? Is this a political organization?”

That this obviously foreseeable consequence wasn’t foreseen demonstrates that these “intelligence” guys aren’t very good at what they’re supposed to be good at. And it explains why their work product hasn’t been very good with regard to other countries, when they couldn’t even foresee an obvious result in their own.

Kill Mueller's investigation for being the political hack job it is.

Suspend Robert Mueller's politically tainted investigation into Russia-Trump collusion

In a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, FBI Director Christopher Wray consistently deflected questions regarding these types of conflicts by deferring to ongoing investigations being conducted by the Justice Department’s inspector general. He also continued to stonewall on providing information on the FBI’s use of the Steele dossier and the FISA warrant it helped generate, citing vague national security concerns.

We are left with an appearance of an unacceptable degree of political prejudice and a troubling series of unanswered questions. It is dangerous to subject the office of the president to a gravely biased investigation undertaken with a reckless spirit. Should further evidence of untoward bias emerge, Americans may conclude that the justice system itself is illegitimate, with all that entails.

The most prudent move would be to suspend the special counsel investigation until the Justice Department inspector general’s office and other watchdogs can conclude their investigations into possible illegitimate or illegal actions taken by members of Mueller’s team. Then Congress must be given time to review the conclusions of the internal investigations as well as conclude their own ongoing inquiries.

The stakes are too high to allow a clique of politicized government agents to destroy the integrity of the investigative apparatus, and damage the office of the presidency.

The contents are not publicly available, but it's crystal clear that cell phones and hard drives reference data far beyond the over-simplified viewpoint presented here of "old" money-laundering by Trump officials that has "nothing to do with" the Trump campaign and administration.

Sure, it doesn't necessarily mean that they cannot conduct and honest investigation.

But in an investigation such as this one, the optics are important. When there are blatant situations that appear to be conflict or even blatantly partisan, then why wouldn't you want to avoid them at all costs?

You already are dealing with questions about the dossier. If it turns out that FICA warrants were obtained due to unfounded paid opposition research, then you have serious problems. If people who were responsible for and pushing the dossier have connections to the Mueller investigation itself, then you have legitimate reasons to question the objectivity.

When you include these people on the payroll (like it or not) does not lend itself to the appearance of an objective non-political open minded investigation.

It's not just a matter of whether or not it's "possible" for people who might be investigated themselves to hold an honest investigation...

It's a question of coming to a answer that EVERYONE can agree is based on objective conclusions from objective investigators, based on objective and verifiable facts.

Having an investigation made up of investigators who half the country doesn't trust to provide the other half with an answer that they want to hear, based on subjective opinions, dubious research, and less than proven assertions will ultimately prove to be more harm than help.

Melissa Young was also offered as an “eyewitness” who disputes the account of Samantha Holvey. The White House list describes Young as someone who “Also Competed In The 2005 Miss USA Pageant.”

But Holvey was not a contestant in the 2005 Miss USA pageant.
In fact, Holvey represented North Carolina in the 2006 Miss USA Pageant, while Young represented Wisconsin in the 2005 Miss USA Pageant. (A different contestant named Chelsea Cooley represented North Carolina in 2005; she won.)

An inquiry to the White House press office about this apparent error was not immediately returned.

Young has not publicly commented on Holvey’s account. She says that Trump was kind to her several years later when she had a blood clot that sent her to the hospital. Young described Trump as a “gentleman.”

I see it that how the people feel about this investigation is complete does not matter. The President has been calling for an investigation into the investigation. We have to let the investigation to reach it's conclusion no matter which way it turns out.

I keep remembering Watergate. Nixon relentlessly tried to claim that the investigation was biased and fired the investor. I expect to see a "You're fired" 5:30AM tweet.

But again we should let it continue and if it is perceived as unfair or biased we can see what happens.

If people have been demoted, or removed from the investigation for the reasons that have been uncovered, then I believe transparency is the key.

It's one thing to claim (as some have) that you have to have a bunch of Hillary Donors on the probe, because everyone in D.C. is a Hillary donor. That could work, if by all other measures, those people seem fair, impartial, and objective.

But it's another deal all together when the guy running the probe is hiding the sort of partisan behavior that got someone kicked off the probe, when he appears to be covering for other actions, when there appears to be conflicts of interests that were not disclosed, and when his boss (Deputy Director Rosenstein) is defying congressional subpoenas for information regarding some of this.

How are we supposed to "trust" these people, when they are blatantly hiding things, being all cloak and dagger, and not responding to subpoenas that would open up the entire deal to transparency?

Roger - your answer is a non-answer.

Obviously you cannot tell me that Republicans at this point trust Mueller (because they by and large do not). Whether you believe they should is irrelevant. It would be like me telling you that you should trust Trump. Obviously you are going to believe what you believe.

So that leaves an argument that it really doesn't matter if a probe like this is trusted by everyone. I think that's a dubious and quite self-centered argument to make. It's also a highly incorrect argument for a variety of reasons too lengthy to list.

But make no mistake. This was supposed to be a probe that would provide real answers about Russian involvement in the 2016 election. There is almost no chance of that happening at this point.

Ironically, the most likely event is that Mueller has to admit that there was no collusion... while attempting to make some argument that there was obstruction.

Even if Mueller provides the admission that they uncovered no evidence of collusion, you will not accept it. You are way too vested in that belief.

Likewise... Short of uncovering irrefutable evidence of a bribe, witness tampering, Presidential perjury, destruction of evidence (like deleting 30K emails or wiping a subpoenaed server), or something "other" than the fact that the President fired the FBI director.... Mueller's opinion about obstruction would not convince me of anything.

So what does it accomplish?

Trump says accusations of sexual misconduct 'fabricated'

Videos and photos showing President Trump with some of the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct are resurfacing after Trump in a tweet Tuesday said his accusers are "women who I don't know and/or have never met."

"Despite thousands of hours wasted and many millions of dollars spent, the Democrats have been unable to show any collusion with Russia - so now they are moving on to the false accusations and fabricated stories of women who I don't know and/or have never met. FAKE NEWS!" Trump tweeted Tuesday.

People magazine published a photo later in the day showing Trump standing alongside Natasha Stoynoff, a former foreign correspondent for the magazine, while at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in 2005. People said that the photo was taken the same day that Stoynoff, in 2016, accused Trump of forcibly kissing her.

Another photo surfaced following Trump's tweet Tuesday showing him with another accuser, Jill Harth.
Harth, who did business with Trump and later dated him, last year accused him of groping her in the early 1990s. According to a New York Times column published last year, Harth filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Trump in 1997, but withdrew it when settling a separate lawsuit with Trump.

Another high-profile Trump accuser, Summer Zervos, was a contestant on NBC's "The Apprentice," which Trump hosted. The woman, who accused Trump of groping her in 2007, is seen in video sitting across a boardroom table from Trump on the show.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday afternoon that Trump's tweet earlier in the day was referring specifically to three other women who held a press conference the previous day about their accusations against Trump.

Rachel Crooks, Samantha Holvey and Jessica Leeds called on Congress to investigate the claims against Trump at the Monday news conference.

Nearly 60 Democratic women in Congress also called on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee earlier this week to open an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against Trump.
In a letter, 59 members of the Democratic Women's Working Group ask Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and ranking member Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) to open an investigation into the matter after more than a dozen women have "publicly accused the President of sexual misconduct."

I'm pretty sure that Trump's supporters know that he's nothing more than a bullshitter (aka liar), but they just don't care. Water rolling off a duck's back.

Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!

A short period of time? Six years is a "short time"?

This is a defeat for Trump and Bannon is devastating to Trumpism.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Moore is claiming there is vote fraud. My prediction is the host will say this is not a valid election. He's already taken the Trump message that the investigation is a fraud, so why not dispute this because the judge refused to accept defeat.

A president who'd all but call a senator a whore is unfit to clean toilets in Obama's presidential library or to shine George W. Bush's shoes:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/12/12/trump-lows-ever-hit-rock-bottom-editorials-debates/945947001/

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday dismissed the president's smear as a misunderstanding because he used similar language about men. Of course, words used about men and women are different. When candidate Trump said a journalist was bleeding from her "wherever," he didn't mean her nose.

And as is the case with all of Trump's digital provocations, the president's words were deliberate. He pours the gasoline of sexist language and lights the match gleefully knowing how it will burst into flame in a country reeling from the #MeToo moment.

Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office “begging” for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!

I don't get it. "Begging for contributions" and "do anything to get them" would reasonably describe half of the members of Congress.

If anything, it's relatively restrained for Trump.

Please WP, I know you have a working brain....do anything? how about sucking on his you know what....my wife who worked in sales got it immediately and called him a pig....rather restrained for her. LOLOLOL

It's not sexist language. Attributing sexual connotations in this case requires an assumption of double-entendre, and it's simply not justified because none of the phrasing nor choice of words have even a hint of it.

Trump is a pig but the only reason you'd find outrage in that tweet is because he IS a pig, and you imbue meaning based on your opinion of him. He's not a pig because of what he said in the tweet.
