All signs point to release of controversial memo...
The FBI could not point to any factual inaccuracies

Kelly: Nunes memo to be released ‘pretty quick’
White House chief of staff John Kelly said Wednesday a controversial Republican memo alleging wrongdoing by FBI officials investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 election would be released soon. “It will be released here pretty quick, I think, and the whole world can see it,” Kelly said during an interview on Fox News Radio.
Trump overheard saying he is '100 percent' behind releasing surveillance memo
President Donald Trump was overheard telling a GOP lawmaker Tuesday night that he’s “100 percent” behind releasing a classified Republican intelligence memo detailing alleged surveillance abuses. "Don't worry," the president reportedly told U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., on the House floor after delivering his first State of the Union address. “One hundred percent."
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray reportedly advised White House Chief of Staff John Kelly against releasing the memo, saying such action would set a dangerous precedent and would not accurately characterize the FBI's investigative practices, the Washington Post reported. But two senior FBI officials – one from the bureau’s counterintelligence division and the other from the legal division – who reviewed the memo said they “could not point to any factual inaccuracies,” Fox News reported Tuesday.
I for one, am very curious as to what the Memo states. But according to most sources, the FBI and DOJ are a lot more worried about the upcoming Inspector General report that is expected out within the next couple of months.

CH TRUTH OFFERS A THEORY!

Many believe that Andrew McCabe was forced to step down due to a combination of what is on the memo, and what is going to be in the IG report. There are also rumors that Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will be a major part of both the memo and the upcoming IG report. It could follow that Rosenstein will either voluntarily (or involuntarily) be removed from his post.

There has been some consideration that if the Assistant AG spot opened up, that Trump would find a heavy hitter to come in and become the active person overseeing the Mueller investigation. Names such as Rudy Giuliani and Chris Christie have been mentioned.

Today, Trey Gowdy offered a tweet that he will not be running for reelection, and that he would like to get out of politics and back into "the Justice system". How perfect would Trey Gowdy be for that Assistant Attorney General spot?

FBI Director Says Secret Memo Is Not Accurate

“FBI Director Christopher Wray told the White House he opposes the release of a controversial, classified GOP memo alleging bias at the FBI and Justice Department because it contains inaccurate information and paints a false narrative,” Bloomberg reports.

President Trump was overheard telling a GOP lawmaker he’s going to release it to the public anyway.

New York Times: “Christopher Wray, the FBI director, clashed publicly with the president for the first time on Wednesday, condemning a push by House Republicans to release a secret memo that purports to show how the bureau and the Justice Department abused their authorities to obtain a warrant to spy on a former Trump campaign adviser.”

. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, who famously headed the congressional investigation into the Benghazi terrorist attack, will not seek reelection, instead returning to the justice system, he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Gowdy, a four-term congressman who chairs the House Oversight Committee, has been the Representative for South Carolina's 4th Congressional District since 2011, elected in the Tea Party wave of 2010. He chaired the United States House Select Committee on Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi from 2014 to 2016 and is currently a member of the House Intelligence Committee.

"Whatever skills I may have are better utilized in a courtroom than in Congress, and I enjoy our justice system more than our political system," Gowdy said in his statement.

He is now the ninth Republican committee chair to announce he will not run for reelection, and the second Oversight chair in under a year, as former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz quit the position last year.

FBI Publicly Challenges GOP Secret Memo

“The FBI spoke out publicly Wednesday against a GOP memo criticizing the bureau’s use of surveillance authorities, challenging the classified document’s accuracy as the White House and congressional Republicans are expected to soon make its contents public,” the Washington Post reports.

From a statement: “As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about the material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy.”

The old "omission of facts" deal, huh? Otherwise (and often times) known as you are not giving me a chance to explain. Doesn't really contradict the other statement that there are no "factual inaccuracies".

The President can always declassify whatever it is that the FBI would like to amend to the memo. He has the authority.

I would be more than happy to have "all" of the facts put out on the table... rather than none of them. Which apparently is what some of you are advocating.

Because, once again, you would rather let others think for you. Having the facts would require you to (gasp) think for yourself.

dear, oh dear. I just can't imagine that a GOP generated memo could be criticized by an FBI director as "omitting any facts" or containing "inaccurate information" or painting a "false narrative."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The memo was written by staffers for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) earlier in January, after the panel procured from the FBI and Justice Department long-sought-after documents related to a now-famous dossier of allegations concerning Trump and his purported ties to Kremlin officials. Sanders told CNN on Wednesday that Trump was "not aware of any conversation or coordination" between Nunes and the White House on the production or release of the memo, but she did not rule out the possibility, saying, "I just don't know the answer."

The memo alleges that the British former spy who wrote the dossier, Christopher Steele, passed bad information to the FBI — though people familiar with the document said it does not determine whether he did so intentionally or by mistake. The memo alleges that the information was used in an application to conduct surveillance on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, according to people familiar with the matter. Officials familiar with the Page case have said Steele's information represented a small part of the secret court document.

Republicans have long been suspicious of the dossier, particularly since learning that Steele's work was paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Democrats, however, allege that the GOP memo is nothing but a hit job designed to weaken the federal law enforcement agencies behind special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's

oh darn! from a 15 point advantage to only 2.

In a look ahead to 2018, Democrats currently hold a negligible edge on the generic Congress ballot. If the election for House of Representatives were held today, 47% of registered voters say they would vote for or lean toward voting for the Democratic candidate in their district compared to 45% who would support the Republican. This marks a dramatic shift from last month, when Democrats held a 15 point advantage on the generic ballot (51% to 36%).

This could be the end of The Secret Society theory.

An FBI agent accused of being biased against President Donald Trump may have played a role in helping elect Trump by working on a memo shortly before Election Day 2016 announcing that the FBI was reopening an investigation into Hillary Clinton.

The agent, Peter Strzok, has been sharply criticized for exchanging emails with another FBI employee in 2016 ridiculing Trump and seeming to hope for a Clinton victory. The discovery of Strzok’s email exchange with lawyer Lisa Page led special counsel Robert Mueller to dismiss Strzok from his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

But newly released emails show that Strzok helped draft an announcement in October 2016 that the FBI had received new information about Clinton’s emails and was reopening an investigation it had closed in early July 2016 after finding no criminal wrongdoing. Strzok was a lead investigator on the FBI’s probe into whether Clinton broke the law as secretary of state by sending official emails through a personal server. The new emails were first reported by CNN.

" 2010, while speaking at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta, President Obama misinformed his audience with this: “I believe that the history of both America and Indonesia should give us hope. It is a story written into our national mottos. In the United States, our motto is E pluribus unum — out of many, one.”

After Obama’s flub, in November of 2011, by a vote of 396 to 9, the House of Representatives again reaffirmed that the official U.S. national motto is “In God We Trust.”

Some people love their families and have a reasonable desire not to have them being hassled by special counsels with multi-million dollar budgets and the ability to otherwise skirt issues that would have prevented normal law enforcement from engaging in questioning (that probably otherwise would never past the muster of probable cause).

I understand that liberals don't hold their own families to the same degree of loyalty and love. You would no doubt throw your kids under the bus, quite obviously, since that is how you believe Trump should play it all.

But I have a full understanding of this behavior, and I would do the same things if my family was being hounded by law enforcement without real probably cause to be doing so.

I would push back if neither my children or I had done anything wrong. I wouldn't sit back and just accept it, simply because that is the "liberal thing to do".

Just the difference in how we see our families and our instinct (which you, Roger, James, etc.. don't have) to protect them.

Mueller Zeroes In on Trump Role In Drafting Statement

New York Times: “Aboard Air Force One on a flight home from Europe last July, President Trump and his advisers raced to cobble together a news release about a mysterious meeting at Trump Tower the previous summer between Russians and top Trump campaign officials. Rather than acknowledge the meeting’s intended purpose — to obtain political dirt about Hillary Clinton from the Russian government — the statement instead described the meeting as being about an obscure Russian adoption policy.”

“The statement… has become a focus of the inquiry by Robert Mueller… Prosecutors working for Mr. Mueller in recent months have questioned numerous White House officials about how the release came together — and about how directly Mr. Trump oversaw the process.”

“What is already clear is that, as Mr. Trump’s aides and family members tried over 48 hours to manage one of most consequential crises of the young administration, the situation quickly degenerated into something of a circular firing squad. They protected their own interests, shifted blame and potentially left themselves — and the president — legally vulnerable.”
