Left is worried about the new Bannon Wolff tell-all book?

So apparently there are some people worried that the new book being written by Michael Wolf (attributed to the tales from Steve Bannon) will backfire. Apparently Michael Wolf's reputation as a truth teller is not exactly a good one.

For instance, there is apparently a claim that President Trump didn't know who John Boehner was. For many, this is exactly the sort of thing that the under-informed President would be guilty of... not knowing who his Party's own Speaker of the House was. I am sure many would be quick to believe such a tale.

But the truth is that Donald Trump was fully aware of John Boehner. Trump had made numerous references to the speaker on his twitter account (even before running for President), had played golf with John Boehner while Boehner was speaker,  and Trump had even given money to a charity Boehner sponsors in his home town. They may not have been "friends" per sea, but they were at the very least personal acquaintances.

The reality is that this is just a perfect opportunity for the President to chide the press about another example of "fake news"  being written about him. Every time someone writes another story about the President that turns out to be false, it brings down the credibility of "every" story written about him. It's becomes very hard to take much of anything seriously anymore.

Even some non Trump people quoted in the book are now disputing those quotes, saying the author made them up.

What we are seeing from the left and overall dem party is an irrational obsessiveness we have never seen before.

We even saw some of it in the last thread, with the usual suspects refusing to acknowledge even the slightest trump credit for recent positive events.

Black Unemployment at Record Low,,,,,

"This trend is exactly what we want to see" as the economy gets closer to full employment, said Elise Gould, a senior economist at the Economic Policy Institute. The rebound in available jobs after the recession has attracted millions of Americans back into the labor force. With the unemployment rate back at a post-recession low, the economy is nearer to the theoretical level of full employment, at which everyone who wants a job and can work is employed.

"While the unemployment rates for workers of color remain far higher than for white non-Hispanic workers, the black unemployment rate has been falling faster than overall unemployment over the last year," she said in a statement after the jobs"

The Weakest Job Growth In 6 Years

Steve Benen: “Providing some additional context, now that we have data for all of the previous calendar year, we can note that the U.S. added 1.84 million jobs in 2011, 2.19 million jobs in 2012, 2.33 million in 2013, 3.11 million in 2014, 2.74 million in 2015, 2.24 million in 2016, and 2.05 million in 2017.

“Or put another way, while Donald Trump’s first year as president has been pretty good overall for job creation, Americans nevertheless saw the slowest job growth in six years.”

Michael Wolff’s new book also confirms what we already knew: that the White House is a smoldering crater of chaos and dysfunction. Wolff claims that every single White House source he talked to believes Trump is “incapable of functioning in his job.” We have heard these claims about presidents before — but usually from the opposition, not from the White House itself, let alone unanimously.

‘Fire and Fury’ author Wolff calls Trump least credible person who has ever walked on earth
NBC News 1 hr ago

‘Fire and Fury’ author Michael Wolff:
‘I absolutely’ spoke to President Trump

Michael Wolff, the author of a new book that gives a behind-the-scenes account of the White House, defended his work Friday, insisting he spoke with President Donald Trump on the record and calling the commander in chief "a man who has less credibility than, perhaps, anyone who has ever walked on earth."

Wolff, in an exclusive interview on NBC's "Today," said that everyone he spoke to for the book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," described the president the same way.

"I will tell you the one description that everyone gave, everyone has in common: They all say he is like a child," Wolff explained. "And what they mean by that is, he has a need for immediate gratification. It is all about him."

Wolff added that "100 percent of the people around" Trump, "senior advisers, family members, every single one of them, questions his intelligence and fitness for office."

Wolff also contended that he "absolutely" spoke to the president during his reporting of the book.

"Whether he realized it was an interview or not, I don’t know, but it certainly was not off the record," Wolff said. "I spoke to him after the inauguration, yes. And I had spoken to, I mean I spent about three hours with the president over the course of the campaign and in the White House, so my window into Donald Trump is pretty significant."

Trump, however, said on Twitter Thursday night that he "authorized Zero access to White House" for the author and "never spoke to him for book."

Hitting back at Trump, Wolff said Friday that Trump isn't one to talk when it comes to credibility.

"My credibility is being questioned by a man who has less credibility than, perhaps, anyone who has ever walked on earth at this point," Wolff said.

Wolf added that he has the evidence to back up his work.

"I work like every journalist works so I have recordings, I have notes," Wolff said. "I am certainly and absolutely in every way comfortable with everything I’ve reported in this book."

"Fire and Fury" features behind-the-scenes anecdotes from Trump's White House, including details on how the most powerful men and women in Washington worked to make Trump president — and then turned on one another after he took the oath of office.

Wolff writes in the book, and explained during his “Today” interview, that top aides said at various points that Trump is “a moron, an idiot.”

“Actually there’s a competition to sort of get to the bottom line here of who this man is. Let’s remember, this man who does not read, does not listen. So he’s like a pinball, just shooting off the sides,” Wolff said.

Wolff also revealed how people around the president noticed an apparent decline in his mental stamina.
“In the beginning, it was like every 25 or 30 minutes, you would get the same three stories repeated," Wolff said about Trump. "Now it’s the same three stories in every 10 minutes."

Wolff was then asked to elaborate on an anecdote he described in an article in The Hollywood Reporter this week in which he said Trump, at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida over the winter holiday break, didn't recognize old friends.

"I will quote Steve Bannon — he’s lost it," Wolff said, referring to Trump's former strategist.

James said...

Again, regarding 12:09, here is what Wolf actually said:

The author of the explosive new book about Donald Trump's presidency acknowledged in an author's note that he wasn't certain all of its content was true.

Michael Wolff, the author of "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," included a note at the start that casts significant doubt on the reliability of the specifics contained in the rest of its pages.

Several of his sources, he says, were definitely lying to him, while some offered accounts that flatly contradicted those of others.

But some were nonetheless included in the vivid account of the West Wing's workings, in a process Wolff describes as "allowing the reader to judge" whether the sources' claims are true.

In other cases, the media columnist said, he did use his journalistic judgment and research to arrive at what he describes "a version of events I believe to be true."

Here is the relevant part of the note, from the 10th page of the book's prologue:
__________
"Many of the accounts of what has happened in the Trump White House are in conflict with one another; many, in Trumpian fashion, are baldly untrue. These conflicts, and that looseness with the truth, if not with reality itself, are an elemental thread of the book.

"Sometimes I have let the players offer their versions, in turn allowing the reader to judge them. In other instances I have, through a consistency in the accounts and through sources I have come to trust, settled on a version of events I believe to be true."
_______________
In other words, Wolf acknowledges that sometimes those talking to him were or may have been lying. Not the author himself, however. He included some questionable segments in order to allow readers to make up their own minds.

Commonsense said...

Well generally James a journalist would make sure that everything he writes in a book is true to the best of his knowledge.

Other sources spoke to me with the understanding that the material in the interviews would not become public until the book came out. Finally, some sources spoke forthrightly on the record. The job has been construed as deputy president, or chief operating officer, or even prime minister. Larger-than-life chiefs have included Richard Nixon’s H. R. Haldeman and Alexander Haig; Gerald Ford’s Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney; Jimmy Carter’s Hamilton Jordan; Ronald Reagan’s James Baker; George H. W. Bush’s return of James Baker; Bill Clinton’s Leon Panetta, Erskine Bowles, and John Podesta; George W. Bush’s Andrew Card; and Barack Obama’s Rahm Emanuel and Bill Daley. Anyone studying the position would conclude that a stronger chief of staff is better than a weaker one, and a chief of staff with a history in Washington and the federal government is better than an outsider. Donald Trump had little, if any, awareness of the history of or the thinking about this role. Instead, he substituted his own management style and experience.

For decades, he had relied on longtime retainers, cronies, and family. Even though Trump liked to portray his business as an empire, it was actually a discrete holding company and boutique enterprise, catering more to his peculiarities as proprietor and brand representative than to any bottom line or other performance measures. His sons, Don Jr. and Eric—behind their backs known to Trump insiders as Uday and Qusay, after the sons of Saddam Hussein—wondered if there couldn’t somehow be two parallel White House structures, one dedicated to their father’s big-picture views, personal appearances, and salesmanship and the other concerned with day-to-day management issues. In this construct, they saw themselves tending to the day-to-day operations.

I’m introducing a bill to end aid to Pakistan in the coming days. My bill will take the money that would have gone to Pakistan and put it in an infrastructure fund to build roads and bridges here at home.

The Mercer Family recently dumped the leaker known as Sloppy Steve Bannon. Smart!

Well, now that collusion with Russia is proving to be a total hoax and the only collusion is with Hillary Clinton and the FBI/Russia, the Fake News Media (Mainstream) and this phony new book are hitting out at every new front imaginable. They should try winning an election. Sad!

This is normal for the President of the United States?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Nobody disputes this, because it has come out from several sources..

Trump didn’t read. He didn’t really even skim. If it was print, it might as well not exist. Some believed that for all practical purposes he was no more than semiliterate. (There was some argument about this, because he could read headlines and articles about himself, or at least headlines on articles about himself, and the gossip squibs on the New York Post’s Page Six.) Some thought him dyslexic; certainly his comprehension was limited. Others concluded that he didn’t read because he just didn’t have to, and that in fact this was one of his key attributes as a populist. He was postliterate—total television.

It's evident from his 5:00 AM tweets.

He's not mentally capable of being the President.

The administration laid out a detailed financial blueprint for the president’s signature campaign promise, indicating U.S. taxpayers would fund the wall for the foreseeable future. Democratic lawmakers blasted the request, which arrived in the middle of delicate budget negotiations that include the risk of a government shutdown Jan. 20 if no deal is reached.

And once all of the morbid Trump haters buy their copy, there won't be much left to sell to.

The have a small window before it proves the be a complete hoax like the Howard Hughes autobiography.

Hillary's 12 books about her have not sold as many copies as Trump's single copy.

Will wolffe fiction sell as many as Hillary "Oh Shit what happened" book?

Get the numbers up so we all know.

Even the liberal site The New Rupublic is calling criticism of wolff's book justified.

Its fiction. But parrots like roger will embrace and repeat it anyway.

Btw speaking of that, i see roger is done touting the dossier like he was three months ago because the new made up narrative is the absurd mental illness thing.

And btw, if Trump were really such a stupid mentally deficient buffoon who didn't even want to win the election, how pathetically pitiful does that make hillary?

And what would it prove if What Happened sold more than trumps 1.1 million for a book he did not write...Since he did not write it, I am of the opinion he had no sales at all and hillary wins.....idiot Unless you got some real numbers, I suggest shut the fuck up and serve your pig wife.....

Black Trump Voters Vindicated As Black Unemployment Falls To Lowest Level Ever

Do you remember when candidate Trump was courting black voters and asked “What the hell do you have to lose?” during a campaign rally? The line caused some buzz and Trump went on to repeat it. Trump received 8% of the black vote in 2016, besting Mitt Romney’s total in 2012. That 8% must feel vindicated after the good economic news Friday – black unemployment is at a historical low.

Black unemployment fell to 6.8 percent in December, the lowest ever recorded by the U.S. Labor Department since it began tracking the black unemployment rate in 1972.

Economists say it’s a sign the recovery from the Great Recession is finally starting to help a wider swath of the U.S. population.

During the aftermath of the financial crisis, black unemployment soared to 16.8 percent in 2010, meaning more than 1 out of every 6 African Americans was looking for a job but could not find one. The rate has steadily declined since, breaking the prior all-time low of 7 percent that was set in 2000 during the dot-com boom.” “The white unemployment rate is 3.7 percent. The black-white gap in hiring and pay has existed for decades, with the black unemployment rate typically more than double that of whites. But the gap has narrowed slightly to 1.85 times higher unemployment for blacks instead of 2 times as much.

That bit of good news is a great way to begin 2018. While Democrats have tried mightily to paint Trump as a racist, the fact is that Democrats embraced Trump until he ran for president as a Republican. Then the inevitable happened. The Republican candidate had to be painted as a racist, true or not. Nonetheless, black workers benefit from the optimism felt in the business community – a rising tide lifts all boats.

Since Donald Trump became president, the Dow Jones industrial average has climbed to 25,000 and fewer Americans are unemployed.

Another interesting fact: The number of people collecting food stamps has declined by more than two million.

Trump book author says his revelations will bring down U.S. president

{Reuters) - The author of a book that is highly critical of Donald Trump’s first year as U.S. president said his revelations were likely to bring an end to Trump’s time in the White House.

Michael Wolff told BBC radio that his conclusion in “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House”-- that Trump is not fit to do the job -- was becoming a widespread view.

“I think one of the interesting effects of the book so far is a very clear emperor-has-no-clothes effect,” Wolff said in an interview broadcast on Saturday.
“The story that I have told seems to present this presidency in such a way that it says he can’t do his job,” Wolff said.

“Suddenly everywhere people are going ‘oh my God, it’s true, he has no clothes’. That’s the background to the perception and the understanding that will finally end ... this presidency.”

Trump has dismissed the book as full of lies. It depicts a chaotic White House, a president who was ill-prepared to win the office in 2016, and Trump aides who scorned his abilities.

Trump took to Twitter late on Friday to renew his attacks on Wolff, and on his former top aide Steve Bannon who was quoted in the book.

“Michael Wolff is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book,” Trump said. “He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad!”

Bannon, formerly Trump’s chief strategist, is chairman of the so-called alt-right Breitbart News website
In his interview with the BBC, Wolff was asked if he believed that Bannon felt Trump was unfit to serve as president and would try to bring him down. “Yes,” Wolff replied.

He also hit back at claims that the book was untruthful.

“This is what’s called reporting. This is how you do it.” he said. “You ask people, you get as close as you can to the event, you interview the people who were privy to the event, you interview other people who were privy to the event, you come to know the circumstance as well as anybody and then you report it.”

Trump Cools to Idea of Taking On Welfare Programs
January 6
“President Trump has begun telling advisers that it will likely be impossible to advance legislation this year to reduce welfare spending and enrollment — a priority he previously embraced with the backing of House Speaker Paul Ryan and a number of conservative activists,” the Washington Post reports.

“In conversations with aides and outside advisers in recent days, Trump has said his supporters would embrace the idea — but that it remains unlikely because the votes will not be there in Congress and it would be a difficult undertaking in an election year.”
