IG report on Andrew McCabe
While the report only suggest which FBI regulations McCabe was in violation of, the law is pretty clear as it pertains to making false statements to the FBI or investigators.

WP knows full well that an Inspector General does not investigate specifically for a criminal complaint. An Inspector General is designed to make sure that procedures, policies, and general protocols are being followed. For that reason, the I.G. would list transgressions by the violations of FBI policies and protocols... rather than list them as a criminal complaint.
McCabe was "fired" because of this report. The same way that an employee would be fired for something like stealing from the company or assaulting a fellow employee. Whether that theft, or assault is pursued by the police has nothing to do with company policy.
Obviously the report states that McCabe knowing made false statements under oath to FBI investigators... I am pretty sure WP is capable of figuring out whether or not that could be referred for a criminal complaint... even if you are too dumb to know the difference.
Whether they do or do not, is a matter of prosecutorial discretion. Someone in the DOJ will make that call (not an FBI Inspector General). I am pretty sure that McCabe is not raising hundreds of thousands for a criminal defense because he violated FBI policies. He knew the reasons he was fired, and probably expects to be charged (if no reason other than a failure to do so would be a massive matter of hypocrisy at this point in time).

For the record the IG remit does include criminal investigations, but their examination of McCabe fell within employer protocols, analogously to a corporate HR department.
