Democrat offered immunity from his crime to testify against Republican who committed the same crime

The Podesta Group reportedly worked with Manafort -- a former chairman of Donald Trump's 2016 campaign -- to lobby on behalf of Ukrainian interests in the United States, without properly registering at the time under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA), Carlson said. Manafort and the group worked on a campaign called the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine, the Washington Times reported.
"In other words, for a near identical crime, Bill and Hillary's friend could escape and emerge completely unscathed while Paul Manafort may rot in jail," Carlson said. Podesta did not register as a foreign agent under FARA, Carlson said in a segment last October.
There really is two sets of laws. One for Democrats where nothing is a prosecutable crime, and one for Republican where they make up crimes as they go.

Trump's sycophants sink to new lows after the President prostrates himself to Putin

President Trump’s Putin schmoozapalooza in Helsinki Monday sent jaws dropping around the world, and — in a very rare occasion — even within the friendliest of Trump circles.
For good reason. It was the geopolitical equivalent of standing in the middle of Fifth Ave. and shooting someone.

With the world watching, and Vladimir Putin standing right next to him eating up his every fawning word, the President of the United States essentially accused his own intelligence community of lying about Russia’s meddling in the 2016 elections, insisting instead that he believed Putin, a murderous dictator and professional liar.
“My people came to me… they said they think it’s Russia,” Trump said at the now infamous press conference. “I have President Putin. He just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be.”

Trump just sold out all U.S. intelligence — with the whole world watching »
Some have called his words a defining low point of his presidency, others treasonous, and others still cause for impeachment.
But surely no one is defending him, right? Wrong, of course, because...2018.
Just when you think there’s nowhere lower for Trump defenders to go — no plausible way to defend the indefensible — they arrive on cue to prove you wrong.
For the professional and political Trump addicts, whose livelihood or ego depend on finding creative ways to justify any and every infantile, disturbing or unconservative thing he does, this is what officially hitting rock bottom looks like.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Vice President Mike Pence sounded particularly delusional, praising Trump’s “deeply productive” dialogue and insisting: “what the world saw, what the American people saw, is that Pres. Donald Trump will always put the prosperity and security of America first.”

That’s the literal opposite of what we saw.
Then there were Trump’s biggest cheerleaders, Fox News’s Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro and Fox Business’s Lou Dobbs.
For Hannity’s part, instead of defending Trump outright he turned his fire on the rest of us.
“I’m watching all of these Republicans and I’m thinking none of them, none of them, have the ability to lead anything. The Senate couldn’t even repeal and replace Obamacare… The only thing that either the destroy-Trump media, the Democratic Party, or, frankly, Never-Trump, weak, pathetic, visionless, feckless, spineless Republicans –– the only thing they seem to care about in life is being loved.”
That, coming from Trump’s bedtime phone-call buddy, is rich.

Yep....the trump deficit will equal obama's record...

Despite clear signs of expanded economic growth, the latest White House budget estimates predict that President Donald Trump is on the verge of overseeing an expansion of federal deficits which will rival that of President Barack Obama’s two terms in office, as the Trump Administration now forecasts a deficit next year that will be over $1 trillion, with no signs of a balanced budget on the horizon.

The latest figures issued by the Office of Management and Budget now predict a deficit this year of $890 billion – and deficits of over $1 trillion per year in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

When you take the $665 billion deficit from Fiscal Year 2017 – Mr. Trump’s first year in office – and then add the projected deficits from the White House budget office for seven more years – you get $7.3 trillion in debt for what would equal two terms of a Trump Administration.

That would be almost identical to the $7.28 trillion in deficits run up under the eight years of the Obama Administration.

For any American who wants an answer sooner, there are just five words, among the thousands of suggestive texts Page and Strzok exchanged, that you should read.

That passage was transmitted on May 19, 2017. “There’s no big there there,” Strzok texted.

The date of the text long has intrigued investigators: It is two days after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein named special counsel Robert Mueller to oversee an investigation into alleged collusion between Trump and the Russia campaign.

Since the text was turned over to Congress, investigators wondered whether it referred to the evidence against the Trump campaign.

This month, they finally got the chance to ask. Strzok declined to say — but Page, during a closed-door interview with lawmakers, confirmed in the most pained and contorted way that the message in fact referred to the quality of the Russia case, according to multiple eyewitnesses.

The admission is deeply consequential. It means Rosenstein unleashed the most awesome powers of a special counsel to investigate an allegation that the key FBI officials, driving the investigation for 10 months beforehand, did not think was “there.”

Delusional: Unable to perform his duties as President. My view from this.

Trump himself was flummoxed. He waxed on about his impressions of Putin up close — strong, smart and cunning, in Trump’s assessment — and told associates that he viewed the Russian as a formidable adversary with whom he relishes interactions. He also was furious with the negative media coverage of a summit that he felt had been a clear success. And he complained to some about what he viewed as an undercovered angle of the election controversy: That the Democratic National Committee allowed its server to be hacked.

Trump further grumbled about the tough question he was asked by Jonathan Lemire, an Associated Press correspondent, wondering why that reporter had been called on rather than someone who might have asked an easier question.

Lemire asked whether Trump would denounce Russia’s election interference to Putin’s face, “with the whole world watching,” and the president demurred. Aides tried to explain to Trump that nearly any journalist would have asked a similarly pointed question in that moment.

But, as one White House official said, “If you don’t like the answer, you don’t like the question.”

The president still was not satisfied. Later in the week, he told CNBC, “I had some of these fools from the media saying, ‘Why didn’t you stand there, look him in the face, walk over to him, and start shouting at him?’ I said, ‘Are these people crazy? I want to make a deal.’ ”

On Tuesday morning, Trump told friends he did not understand what the big fuss was about. But his advisers understood. A coterie of them — including Vice President Pence, chief of staff John F. Kelly, counselor Kellyanne Conway, deputy chief of staff for communications Bill Shine, senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, Bolton and Sanders — met with Trump to draft a statement he would deliver that afternoon seeking to clarify his Helsinki remarks.

Shine, new to his job, also wanted to change the narrative, and after a career as a Fox News executive, he focused on the imagery — eager for Trump to supplant the image of himself standing admiringly next to Putin with fresh content for cable news.

Trump personally reviewed first the transcript and then the video of his news conference and came up with the “double-negative” explanation that he ultimately provided — that when he said in Helsinki he saw no reason the election hackers “would” be Russian, he meant to say “wouldn’t.”

Initially, the president worried that his statement would be viewed as backing down or not toughing out the criticism — the sort of concessions he is loath to make. But senior advisers reassured him that if he had really meant to say that he didn’t see why Russian wouldn’t be to blame, he would be simply be offering a clarification, not caving.

Clouding Trump’s judgment all week has been his apparent inability to distinguish between Russian “meddling,” of which there is overwhelming evidence, and Russian “collusion” with the Trump campaign, which special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is still investigating, and which the president insists did not happen.

“The biggest problem is that he believes meddling equals collusion,” said Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) “Nobody else believes that. I think he’s very sensitive about going there because he thinks it undercuts his legitimacy.”

By midweek Wednesday, some in Trump’s orbit believed he would emerge relatively unscathed.

What does Vladimir Putin have on Trump?

His continuing efforts to to do the bidding of Putin that are not in the best interest of the United States.

He has reversed his position on almost everything he has said before. It's more than just would versus wouldn't, or "no" even though he continued to respond to questions. He invited Putin to the White House without informing his Director of intelligence Services who has already made comments contrary to the President's comments.

He is unsecure as to the legitimacy of his election as President. This is not a type of character flaw favorable for a President.

Days after President Donald Trump challenged whether the U.S. should honor its Article 5 collective defense commitments to defend tiny NATO member Montenegro, the Pentagon reassured its Eastern European allies it would continue to be a deterrent presence against Russian aggression and committed an additional $200 million to the defense of Ukraine.

The funds will go toward “training, equipment and advisory efforts to build the defensive capacity of Ukraine’s forces,” the Pentagon said in a statement Friday.

The new funds bring the total amount of U.S. assistance to $1 billion since Russian-backed forces invaded Crimea in 2014.

Russian Operatives Sent 18K Tweets Ahead of Huge News Day

“On the eve of one of the newsiest days of the 2016 presidential election season, a group of Russian operatives fired off tweets at a furious pace, about a dozen each minute. By the time they finished, more than 18,000 had been sent through cyberspace toward unwitting American voters, making it the busiest day by far in a disinformation operation whose aftermath is still roiling U.S. politics,” the Washington Post reports.

“The reason for this burst of activity on Oct. 6, 2016, documented in a new trove of 3 million Russian tweets collected by Clemson University researchers, is a mystery that has generated intriguing theories but no definitive explanation.

“On Oct.7, 2016, Wikileaks began releasing embarrassing emails that Russian intelligence operatives had stolen from the campaign chairman for Hillary Clinton. The Clemson researchers and others familiar with their findings think there likely is a connection between this looming release and the torrent of tweets.”

Why Trump Has a Soft Spot for Russia

Andrew Sullivan: “Everything Trump did in Europe — every horrifying, sick-making, embarrassing expostulation — is, in some way, consistent, and predictable, when you consider how he sees the world. It’s not a plan or a strategy as such. Trump is bereft of the attention span to sustain any of those. It is rather the reflection of a set of core beliefs and instincts that have governed him for much of his life. The lies come and go. But his deeper convictions really are in plain sight.

“And they are, at root, the same as those of the strongmen he associates with and most admires. The post-1945 attempt to organize the world around collective security, free trade, open societies, non-zero-sum diplomacy, and multicultural democracies is therefore close to unintelligible to him. Why on earth, in his mind, would a victorious power after a world war be … generous to its defeated foes? When you win, you don’t hold out a hand in enlightened self-interest. You gloat and stomp. In Trump’s zero-sum brain — ‘we should have kept the oil!’ — it makes no sense. It has to be a con. And so today’s international order strikes Trump, and always has, as a massive, historic error on the part of the United States.

”This is why he has such a soft spot for Russia. Its kleptocratic elites see the world in just the same way. And if you wanted to undo the international system created by the U.S., an alliance with Russia is the first step you’d take.”

BENGHAZI SURVIVOR DROPS HOT FIRE AFTER HILLARY ATTACKS TRUMP FOR NOT ‘DEFENDING’ US AMBASSADORS

The irony of Hillary Clinton critiquing Trump’s lack of a strong defense of a U.S. ambassador was not lost on Benghazi survivor Kris Paronto. People who can't stand Trump say goodbye.

Looming cybersecurity threats are reportedly behind the departure of several cybersecurity officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to The Wall Street Journal, three of the top FBI officials -- Scott Smith, David Resch, and Carl Ghattas -- are exiting the bureau.

The resignations come amidst an "unprecedented" number of cyberattacks, which apparently include Russian meddling in the political system, as well as disputes with President Trump. Last year, the US President took a swipe at the FBI's reputation on social media, calling it "the worst in history".

Assistant FBI director Scott Smith is set to resign this month, and will be joined by David Resch, the FBI's executive assistant director of the cyber, response and services office. Meanwhile, the national security branch of the FBI will lose Carl Ghattas -- also an executive assistant director -- as he pursues other opportunities in the private sector.

All of the departures have been confirmed by the FBI.

In a statement, Resch assured the public that "the Bureau will remain the FBI the American people have depended on for 110 years". Those familiar with the decisions have labelled the mass exodus of senior officials as "highly unusual", particularly in the case of Smith, whose premature departure diverges from the standard practice of agents leaving after retirement age.

President Donald Trump reportedly fawned over Russian President Vladimir Putin to his aides after they met for a high stakes summit in Helsinki last week.

The Washington Post reported that Trump specifically admired how Putin is "strong, smart, and cunning." He also reportedly said he relished his interactions with the Russian leader.

Trump stunned observers when, during a press conference after the Helsinki summit, he refused to denounce Putin, declined to hold Russia accountable for its interference in the 2016 election, and suggested the FBI was part of a conspiracy to underine his election victory. Instead, he touted the "direct, open, deeply productive dialogue" he had with Putin.

In turn, national security experts said, Putin played Trump like a fiddle.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.

Republican Ashley Nickloes is the only woman in a seven-way primary race to fill a congressional seat held by one family for five decades. She’s also the only military pilot in the race, running against a litany of odds, including the strong possibility that she’ll lose to a popular career politician who hunts Bigfoot and made it easier for Tennesseans to eat their roadkill.

Not. Kidding.

Nickloes and I sat down Wednesday at the Yee-Haw Brewing Co. and talked about her decision to seek the 2nd Congressional District seat long held by retiring Rep. John J. Duncan Jr. (and before that, his father). Last December, she was in Washington on her daughter’s seventh-grade class trip, during which the group visited one of her state representatives (she won’t say which one). Nickloes asked a question and got an answer that made her mad.

Her query: “In light of Congress’s inability to pass a budget and its detrimental effect on our military, do you think you’ll be able to pass a budget before the continuing resolution ends?”

His reply was that the military has everything it needs and that the Pentagon has sold the American people a bill of goods. He might as well have said, Don’t you worry your pretty head, young lady. At this, Nickloes stepped forward, extended her right hand, and said, “I’m Lt. Col. Ashley Nickloes. I fly a 1957 aircraft, and some of our enlisted men and women live below poverty. Yes or no, can you pass a continuing resolution?”

It was a moment.

For our meeting, Nickloes arrived punctually with two unpaid staff members. Wearing a navy-blue dress, a single strand of white pearls and medium heels, she resembled the flight attendant she once was en route to becoming a military pilot. Already a trained pilot, and having initially been turned down by the Tennessee National Air Guard because they felt she couldn’t handle the physical demands, sh

Here's your sky asshole...deficits beyond obama's without a recession....Yep...ruining america daily by trump!!!

espite clear signs of expanded economic growth, the latest White House budget estimates predict that President Donald Trump is on the verge of overseeing an expansion of federal deficits which will rival that of President Barack Obama’s two terms in office, as the Trump Administration now forecasts a deficit next year that will be over $1 trillion, with no signs of a balanced budget on the horizon.

Its rise comes as Democrats debate whether moving too far left will turn off voters.

Trump personally reviewed first the transcript and then the video of his news conference and came up with the “double-negative” explanation that he ultimately provided — that when he said in Helsinki he saw no reason that the election hackers “would” be Russian, he had meant to say “wouldn’t.”

Initially, the president worried that his statement would be viewed as backing down or not toughing out the criticism — the sort of concessions he is loath to make. But senior advisers reassured him that if he had really meant to say that he didn’t see why Russian wouldn’t be to blame, he would be simply offering a clarification, not caving.

NY Giants co-owner on anthem protests: Trump 'has no understanding of why they take a knee'
AOL.COM 7 hrs ago
New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch will not punish his players for any anthem displays of protest and hopes that President Donald Trump will focus on other issues, he told The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday.

“Hopefully he’ll have much more going on that he’s going have to deal with and should deal with and must deal with than worrying about what NFL players do,” Tisch told The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday night at the premiere of The Equalizer 2. “He has no understanding of why they take a knee or why they’re protesting. When the new season starts, I hope his priorities are not criticizing the NFL and telling owners what to do and what not to do.”

Tisch added a statement of support for his players:

“We support our players,” Tisch said. “They are not going to be punished. There is not going to be any punitive action taking place against them.”

His comments come during a week when issues surrounding the anthem have resurfaced in part due to a joint statement released by the NFL and NFPA Thursday. That statement included that there will be no new rules issued relating to the national anthem, and that none will be enforced over the “next several weeks” while they continue to have “confidential discussions.”

Trump responded to this statement on Twitter Friday, offering his solution.

“The NFL national anthem debate is alive and well again — can’t believe it!” Trump tweeted. “Isn’t it in contract that players must stand at attention, hand on heart? The $40,000,000 commissioner must now make a stand. First time kneeling, out for game. Second time kneeling, out for season/no pay!”

Trump’s Trade Tariffs Could Hurt Voters Around Midterms

President Trump’s “trade wars could become a major political drag for Republicans, with job losses and price increases piling up just as voters head to the polls in November,” Politico reports.

“Trump jolted markets once again early Friday when he said he’s prepared to impose penalties on some $500 billion in Chinese goods regardless of the consequences that might ensue, economic or political… But market analysts, industry experts and economists warn that the economic fallout of the president’s tariffs — those that are already in effect and those he’s threatening to impose — is only going to intensify over the coming months and could reach a peak around election time.

“It takes months for most consumers to feel the impact of tariffs, but as the fall approaches, everything from groceries to appliances could start to cost more at major retailers across the country.”

Washington Post: “Diplomats say the North Koreans have canceled follow-up meetings, demanded more money and failed to maintain basic communications, even as the once-isolated regime’s engagements with China and South Korea flourish.

“Meanwhile, a missile-engine testing facility that Trump said would be destroyed remains intact, and U.S. intelligence officials say Pyongyang is working to conceal key aspects of its nuclear program.

”The lack of immediate progress, though predicted by many analysts, has frustrated the president, who has fumed at his aides in private even as he publicly hails the success of the negotiations.”

Trump Acts Like Putin Has Something On Him

Adam Davidson:
“The former C.I.A. operative Jack Devine watched Donald Trump’s performance standing next to Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday, and his first thought was, ‘There is no way Trump is a Russian agent.’ The proof, he told me, was right in front of us.

”If Trump were truly serving as a Russian intelligence asset, there would have been an obvious move for him to make during his joint press conference with Putin. He would have publicly lambasted the Russian leader, unleashing as theatrical a denunciation as possible. He would have told Putin that he may have been able to get away with a lot of nonsense under Barack Obama, but all that would end now: America has a strong President and there will be no more meddling. Instead, Trump gave up his single best chance to permanently put to rest any suspicion that he is working to promote Russian interests.

“There is no need to assume that Trump was a formal agent of Russian intelligence to make sense of Trump’s solicitousness toward Putin. Keith Darden, an international-relations professor at American University, has studied the Russian use of kompromat—compromising material—and told me that he thinks it is likely that the President believes the Russians have something on him.”

Carter Page FISA Documents Released

“The Trump administration disclosed on Saturday a previously top-secret set of documents related to the wiretapping of Carter Page, the onetime Trump campaign adviser who was at the center of highly contentious accusations by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee that the F.B.I. had abused its surveillance powers,” the New York Times reports.

“Visible portions showed that the F.B.I. in stark terms had told the intelligence court that Mr. Page ‘has established relationships with Russian government officials, including Russian intelligence officers’; that the bureau believed ‘the Russian government’s efforts are being coordinated with Page and perhaps other individuals associated with’ Mr. Trump’s campaign; and that Mr. Page ‘has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian government.’”

Lawfare: “First, a huge amount of information is redacted in these FISA applications, but they still represent a monumental disclosure to the public. The government considers FISA applications to be very sensitive—and their disclosure, even heavily redacted, may have long-term, programmatic consequences long after we’re finished with President Trump.”

Trump’s Surprise Endorsements Frustrate Republicans

“President Trump’s unexpected endorsement of Brian Kemp this week in the Georgia governor’s race blindsided and alarmed Republican governors, who fear that Mr. Trump’s penchant for capriciously intervening in party primaries is imperiling their prospects in a series of statehouse races,” the New York Times reports.

“Mr. Trump’s personal unpopularity with the general electorate has already created a difficult political environment for Republicans running for governor in many states. But with a handful of hotly contested primaries in the coming weeks, governors and their aides are scrambling to dissuade the president from taking more active steps to insert himself into the midterm campaign, lobbying the White House to stay out of Republican races in Kansas and Tennessee.”

Friends of Michael Cohen have noticed that since Trump’s Helsinki press conference with Vladimir Putin he’s been more openly questioning Trump’s fitness to be president, Axios reports.

Said one: “It’s one thing for him [Cohen] to be concerned about his suitability to be president. It’s quite another thing to be concerned about his loyalty to his country.”

“The question of what Cohen knows about Trump is now a far more compelling question than it was in the days when Cohen would tell anybody who’d listen that he’d take a bullet — and, no doubt, lie — for his boss.“

America is waking up to see the nightmare by wide margins, Americans give President Trump negative marks for his conduct during a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week and for his casting doubt on U.S. intelligence conclusions that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds.

But public reaction nationally appears more muted than in Washington where Trump faced withering bipartisan criticism for appearing to side with Putin over U.S. intelligence agencies at a Monday news conference in Helsinki. Most Americans do not feel Trump went “too far” in supporting Putin, and while more Americans say U.S. leadership has gotten weaker than stronger under Trump.

The Post-ABC poll conducted Wednesday through Friday finds that overall, 33 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of his meeting with Putin while 50 percent disapprove. A sizable 18 percent say they have no opinion. A slightly larger 56 percent disapprove of Trump expressing doubts about U.S. intelligence agencies’ conclusion that Russia tried to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. On both questions, those who say they “strongly disapprove” of Trump’s performance outnumber those who say they “strongly approve” by better than 2 to 1.

Overall in 2018, U.S. coal production is expected to total 773 MMst, nearly unchanged from 2017 levels. Western region coal production is expected to rise by 3 MMst to 433 MMst, and Interior region coal production is forecast to rise by 7 MMst to 153 MMst. Growth in those regions is offset by a forecast decline of 11 MMst (to 187 MMst) in Appalachia region coal production in 2018. In 2019, total U.S. coal production is expected to decline by 27 MMst (3%), as both exports and domestic consumption are expected to decline.

One prominent Republican senator is actually above partisanship and tells the truth about the President.

Sen. Marco Rubio is refuting President Trump's latest claims that his campaign was being "illegally" spied on following the FBI's release of heavily redacted documents detailing the surveillance of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

The Florida Republican, speaking with "Face the Nation" on Sunday, said that "anything and everything" he's seen while serving on the Senate Intelligence Committee indicates the FBI "did not spy on the campaign."

"You have an individual here who has openly bragged about his ties to Russia and Russians and he's never -- I don't think Carter Page has ever said he's a spy, but he has certainly talked about it," Rubio said. When asked if the information collected from Page using a FISA court order was justified, Rubio told "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan that the FBI had "reason to believe" Page was a person of interest given his openness about his contacts with Russians.

Transcript: Sen. Marco Rubio on "Face the Nation," July 22, 2018
Rubio on family separation: "We don't have the capacity to hold families together"
Rubio on Trump's messaging on Russian meddling: "Not a good moment for the administration"
"I think that's different from spying on a campaign, in fact, that the Trump campaign has said on numerous occasions that Carter Page was not a major player in their campaign," Rubio said. "So, you know, based on that statement alone you would conclude that yes, they were looking into this one individual but an individual the campaign themselves said was not a big part of their efforts. Therefore I wouldn't consider that spying on a campaign."

Rubio's comments come in contrast with the president's tweets Sunday morning, in which he claimed that Page was surveilled "for the political gain of Crooked Hillary Clinton and the DNC." He claimed that the documents "with little doubt that the Department of Justice and FBI misled the courts."

Page has repeatedly denied acting as an agent for the Russian government. His surveillance has become fodder for conservatives who have criticized the Justice Department and FBI for wiretapping Page.

This week, Russian state-run gas giant Gazprom announced its latest export figures – and one number was of particular interest. The company revealed that Russia’s natural gas exports to Germany increased 12.2% (3.5 billion cubic metres – bcm) in the first half of 2018, compared to the first half of last year.

The increase follows record years for Gazprom exports to Germany in 2016 and 2017, with the country receiving 53.4 bcm last year alone. Germany is the largest buyer of Russian natural gas, and makes up 27.5% of Gazprom’s total exports in 2017.

The report makes for uncomfortable reading in Berlin, where German politicians are trying to defend themselves from Donald Trump’s accusation last week that they are being “controlled” by Moscow because of their dependence on Russian gas."

Russia received almost four times as much revenue from exports of crude oil and petroleum products as from natural gas. Crude oil exports alone were greater in value than the value of all non-oil and natural gas exports

Thanx for playing again assholes....!!!
