Two polls just came out, reflecting the viewpoint that anonymous opposition to the President by others in the Administration is inappropriate. According to Quinnipiac, a majority believe that the article written was in appropriate. According to the CNN poll nearly 60% believe that whoever wrote the piece should identify themselves, while only 30% believe they should remain anonymous.
Moreover the CNN poll dug a little deeper and found that 55% of Americans believe it's in appropriate for any member of the Administration to work "against" the President. Overall 72% of Americans believe that there is opposition to the President's agenda within the Federal Government. Apparently siding (to some degree) with the President's assertion of a "deep state". I guess if the anonymous NYT Ed/Op did nothing else, it confirmed to people that whatever it is that you call it, that unelected people within the Federal Government (wrongly) feel it's their duty to push their own political interests over that of the elected President.

Funny also as most polled believe the op ed to be true....Oh well CH....why did you leave that part out of your fake news headline????
Most American voters believe the allegations made in last week's bombshell New York Times op-ed are true — but think that the writer who asserted them was wrong to do so, a new Quinnipiac poll has found.
In the poll released Monday, 55 percent of voters said they believe that President Trump's senior advisers are working to stop him from making what they deem to be bad decisions, as alleged in the Times article. A total of 82 percent of Democrats believe the allegations, while 52 percent of independents also believe them. But not everyone is convinced: Fifty-two percent of Republicans said they think the allegations are false, Quinnipiac found. Another 27 percent of Republicans believe the article, while 22 percent aren't sure.

"Nearly 40 million Social Security numbers have been stolen and used by illegal immigrants and others to get work, according to agency records obtained by an immigration reform group.
The Immigration Reform Law Institute said that from 2012 to 2016 there were “39 million instances where names and Social Security numbers on W-2 tax forms did not match the corresponding Social Security records.”
The group said that there is a “thriving black market” used by illegal immigrants to get Social Security numbers needed to get a job."

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump called the federal government's response last year to hurricane devastation in Puerto Rico an "incredible unsung success" despite a study released last month that put the death toll at nearly 3,000 people.
"I think Puerto Rico was incredibly successful," Trump told reporters. "I actually think it was one of the best jobs that's ever been done."
Trump spoke about the response to Hurricane Maria as he discussed preparations for Hurricane Florence, a massive storm that is heading toward the U.S. East Coast and is threatening record rains and historic flooding.
More: Trump administration defends response to Hurricane Maria after new study finds thousands died
From September 2017 to February 2018, 2,975 people died in Puerto Rico as a result of Hurricane Maria, according to a study by George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health, which was commissioned by the Puerto Rican government. The study, released last month, showed a much higher death toll than the initial estimate of 64 people.

An estimated 2,975 people died in Puerto Rico in the five months after Hurricane Maria devastated the island last September, a far higher number than the government's official death toll count of 64.
The new findings are from an independent study conducted by George Washington University's Milken Institute of Public Health, which was commissioned by island officials for more than $300,000.
During a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló announced that his administration is updating its death toll count of 64 to match GWU's 2, 975, "keeping in mind that it's still an estimate."
"The number of excess deaths is still very big and now, as a society, we need to come together and look forward to the future," said Rosselló.
The Puerto Rican government said earlier this month that it was not updating its official death count until the findings were published.
This is a President who simply lacks concern for ensuring that what he says comports with fact. In a normal world, that would be almost immediately disqualifying for a president. But in a normal world, Donald Trump never even sniffs the presidency.

A new Quinnipiac poll finds American voters believe the anonymous allegations that senior aides to President Trump work behind his back to keep him from making what the aides believe are bad decisions, 55% to 28%.
Republicans don’t believe these accounts by a 52% to 27% margin, the only listed party, gender, education, age or racial group which does not believe that aides are working behind the president’s back.
Meanwhile, voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing, 54% to 38%

Bob Woodward says 'key' Trump official told him new book is '1,000-percent correct'
Sep 11th 2018
Veteran reporter Bob Woodward said a top Trump administration official called him last week and told him that his new tell-all book on the Trump presidency is “1,000-percent correct.”
Woodward, in an interview that aired Tuesday on The New York Times’ “The Daily” podcast, continued to reject President Donald Trump’s claims that Fear: Trump in the White House is full of “lies and phony sources.”
“One key person who’s in office called me and said, ‘Everyone knows what you said here is true. It’s 1,000-percent correct.’ And then this person has said some public things that contradict that,” Woodward, who did not name the official, told the Times’ Michael S. Schmidt.
Fear, which hit bookstores on Tuesday, paints a harrowing picture of the chaos within the White House, and tells how senior Trump administration officials attempt to reign in the president’s worst impulses.
Woodward said Monday that several current and former Trump administration officials were “not telling the truth” when they denied quotes attributed to them in Fear, including White House chief of staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary James Mattis.
“These are political statements to protect their jobs ― totally understandable,” Woodward said of the denials on NBC’s “Today.” He said his book “is as carefully done as you can do an excavation of the reality of what goes on.”
In one particularly shocking passage, Woodward wrote that chief economic adviser Gary Cohn and White House staff secretary Rob Porter, before their ousters from the administration, stole documents off Trump’s desk in the Oval Office so he couldn’t sign them.
“They realized that [these documents] would endanger the country,” Woodward said. Cohn and Porter got away with it because Trump “doesn’t remember. If it’s not on his desk, if it’s not immediately available for action, it goes away.”
Cohn didn’t deny the eyebrow-raising anecdote in a statement to Axios on Tuesday.
“This book does not accurately portray my experience at the White House,” Cohn said in the statement. “I am proud of my service in the Trump Administration, and I continue to support the President and his economic agenda.”

Arguing that there are terrorist sympathizers in the United States, Donald Trump said.
"I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down," the Republican presidential candidate said at a Nov. 21 rally in Birmingham, Ala. "And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering."
The next day, ABC This Week host George Stephanopoulos asked Trump if he misspoke, noting that "the police say that didn't happen."
Trump -- who has said he was in his Manhattan apartment the morning of the attack -- doubled down.
"It was on television. I saw it," Trump said. "It was well covered at the time, George. Now, I know they don't like to talk about it, but it was well covered at the time. There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population, that were cheering as the buildings came down. Not good."

The department of FEMA transferred nearly $10 million to ICE and the children parents separation policy just as the hurricane season started. Hurricane Florence is probably going to be the worst perhaps for 50 years or more. Rainfall is expected to exceed 15 inches or more. Flash flooding can cause massive destruction.

Fact-checking Trump's claim that thousands in New Jersey cheered when World Trade Center tumbled
By Lauren Carroll on Sunday, November 22nd, 2015 at 6:17 p.m.
Donald Trump on Saturday tried to back away from his support for a government database to track Muslims in the United States, an idea that drew sharp rebukes from his Republican presidential rivals and disbelief from legal experts.
Arguing that there are terrorist sympathizers in the United States, Donald Trump says he saw "thousands" of New Jerseyans celebrating after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Not good."
We looked back at the record to see what we could find about American Muslim celebrations in New Jersey on 9/11. While we found widely broadcast video of people in the Palestinian territories celebrating, we found no evidence to back up Trump’s description of events on American soil.
Urban myth
We conducted an exhaustive search of newspaper and television transcripts on LexisNexis, looking for reports from September 2001 through December 2001 that made any mention of Muslims in New Jersey celebrating the 9/11 attacks.
Regarding Jersey City, which Trump mentioned specifically, we found two uncorroborated and unsourced mentions. Neither begins to approach the scale Trump described.
The Associated Press, on Sept. 17, 2001, described "rumors of rooftop celebrations of the attack by Muslims" in Jersey City. But the same report said those rumors were "unfounded."
A more rampant rumor of Muslim or Arab-Americans cheering the attacks centered around nearby Paterson, N.J. But that turned out to be just a rumor, spawned by chain emails and perpetuated by shock jock Howard Stern’s show.
"When we got there, they were all in prayer," Paterson Police Chief Lawrence Spagnola said.
Three percent of New Jersey residents are Muslim -- the highest of any state -- according to Pew Research Center. Suspected 9/11 terrorists had ties to Jersey City and Paterson. But there is no conclusive evidence that any New Jersey residents celebrated the attacks, and there is no evidence whatsoever of any demonstrations where "thousands and thousands of people" cheered.
there would be video or visual evidence.
Instead, all we found were a couple of news articles that described rumors of celebrations that were either debunked or unproven.
Trump’s recollection of events in New Jersey in the hours after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks flies in the face of all the evidence we could find. We rate this statement Pants on Fire.
SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH
NJ Advance Media launched its inquiry to determine the truth about an issue that proved deeply disturbing to Americans in the immediate aftermath of the attacks and that has flared anew with the declaration by Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican nomination for president.
Told of the findings, Fulop remained skeptical, saying in an interview that staff from the police department and the city clerk's office have found no documentary evidence to support the claims.

Could California have another Republican governor? New poll says it’s close
If California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom was expecting an easy race for the governor’s mansion, a poll released Thursday didn’t carry much in the way of good news.
While the statewide poll from Probolsky Research showed Newsom leading with 44 percent of respondents, his Republican opponent John Cox had 39 percent support; a further 17 percent of those polled were unsure whom they would support.
Cox, a relative newcomer to California politics, also claimed support well beyond his base among Californian registered Republicans, who make up fewer than a quarter of the state’s voters.

While California's Democratic leaders are too busy trying to mount a presidential bid or celebrating their 85th birthdays California has deteriorated more than any other blessed state. It's a real shame and at some point a political earthquake will hit there.
How low can they go before that happens?
btw Commonsence I do tend to agree with you on polling, just look at the numbers leading into the last election and the results. And the separation from reality has probably just widened. Makes that California poll just more encouraging. Newsom is a terrible candidate.
