Public supports McConnell?

Voters Still Favor Kavanaugh Vote in Senate - And Want It Soon
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell insists the U.S. Senate will vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and most voters still support that decision. There’s also only slightly less urgency in their minds about getting the job done.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 56% of Likely U.S. Voters still believe that every person the president nominates to serve as a judge or in a government position should receive an up or down vote on the floor of the Senate. Only 20% disagree, while slightly more (23%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Bottom line: there will be a floor vote on Judge Kavanaugh sometime next week, no matter how hard the temper tantrum from the Democrats and left wing media is. While several Senators remain "mum" on both sides of the aisle, there is still not a single Republican or a single Democrat who suggest that they are crossing over.

I would have always expected most moderate Republicans (Collins, Flake, etc...) to publicly claim they are waiting for the hearing (in fact, I am surprised to see as many Republicans as there are already stating their support). I would expect that red state Senators up for reelection might be a little quiet right now. Both Collins and Murkowski are satisfied with Kavanaugh from a Roe v Wade standpoint, so at least in terms of rhetoric...  it's all about the allegations.

But something about all of this tells me it was about the optics of the situation. Certainly the GOP has bent over backwards to seem objective and fair to the allegations, but that doesn't necessarily prove that any of them "believe" that the allegations should derail the confirmation.

At the end of the day, I would expect pretty close to a Party line vote.

Merkley Will Seek Injunction to Stop Kavanaugh Vote
September 26, 2018 at 1:30 pm EDT

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) “will announce that he’s seeking an injunction in federal court designed to stop a final vote on Brett Kavanaugh, asserting an obstruction of his constitutional duty to advise and consent on nominees,” Politico reports.

“Merkley’s still-pending filing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia comes as Senate Republicans vow to push ahead with a vote on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee in the coming days — and hours before a landmark hearing slated with Christine Blasey Ford, who has alleged a decades-old sexual assault by Kavanaugh.”

Most Oppose Kavanaugh If Ford’s Allegations Are True
September 26, 2018 at 1:55 pm EDT

A new NPR/PBS/Marist poll finds that if Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh are true, 59% of Americans said they believe the Senate Judiciary Committee should not confirm his nomination to the Supreme Court.

The poll also revealed that 29% of those surveyed would support Kavanaugh’s nomination regardless of the legitimacy of Ford’s allegations, including 54% of Republicans.

This poll was conducted before today’s latest accusations against Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh Denied Gang-Rape Allegation Under Oath
September 26, 2018 at 2:38 pm EDT

“Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh testified behind closed doors and under oath on Tuesday about allegations that he was present at parties in the 1980s where women were targeted and gang-raped,” Time reports.

“Speaking under penalty of felony to Judiciary Committee investigators, Kavanaugh denied the allegations. His latest round of sworn testimony took place one day before Julie Swetnick came forward publicly with a third round of allegations about Kavanaugh’s sexual behavior in high school and college.”

Republican Women Lose Faith In Kavanaugh

A new Morning Consult survey finds that public support for Judge Brett Kavanaugh to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat “has dropped to its lowest point since President Trump nominated him in July, driven in large part by a sector of the president’s base: Republican women.

“Kavanaugh’s net support among Republicans dropped 11 points, with 58% now in support of his confirmation and 14% opposed. The shift was driven by an 18-point fall in support among Republican women, with 49% now in favor and 15% in opposition.

Ford polygraph test apparently only asked 2 questions regarding a written statement which is full of cross-outs and word insertions and appears to be written by an illiterate person.

The statement is different than the Feinstein letter in important details

It never refers to full name of Brett (pretty familiar of her)

not anything like a normal polygraph test.

Larry O'Connor‏Verified account @LarryOConnor

Serious question: Is that how a polygraph is usually conducted? You write out a statement and then the examiner asks: "Is any part of your statement false?" & "Did you make up any part of your statement?"

Is there even any proof that the statement she is referring to is the statement she wrote???

Southwest Airlines just happens to offer convenient non-stop flights each day from BWI to SJC, which is just minutes from Palo Alto, CA

Maybe someone at Southwest can check the passenger logs or maybe ask her under oath?

so in 2012 when Kavanaugh made Romney's short list of Supreme Court nominees she has this counselling session because she wanted her remodeled house to have 2 front doors (from her opening remarks which makes absolutely no sense as she easily left the supposed assault house..) which unlocked suppressed memories and despite Kavanaugh being a federal judge, when Obama wins she does nothing and allows this "monster" continue to be a federal judge.

The discrepancies between the lie detector note and the Feinstein letter, the no corroborating witnesses, the length of time etc. even the lack of support of her direct birth family is stunning.

No wonder she needed so much time to be coached, every reasonable senator will see the swiss cheese holes in her case and I suspect a reasonable prosecutor will line these up forcefully. Wonder if she will also ask why she flew out to take the polygraph if she wanted to remain anonymous and who paid for it, I'm guessing DNC or Soros. Having her answer questions under oath is extremely risky for her and any Democratic behind-the-scenes shenanigans.

I'm guessing Republicans will play it safe, say both parties are reasonable and get a confirmation unless she totally screws up. Democratic senators in red states up for re-election are either going to vote for confirmation or lose seats to their challengers. Republicans win either way, and America wins. And with more Senate seats, when RBG leaves the court Trump will be able to nominate a true conservative judge.

I don't think Democrats thought this through very well.....

The woman who will testify at a Senate committee hearing Thursday has given the panel sworn statements from four people that aim to back up her allegation that she was sexually assaulted by U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in the 1980s, while lawyer Michael Avenatti has produced details about a new allegation by another woman against the judge.

U.S President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he COULD withdraw Kavanaugh's nomination DEPENDING ON WHAT IS SAID during Thursday's testimony. "I CAN ALWAYS BE CONVINCED," Trump told reporters in New York. "It will be interesting to hear what she has to say."

Three women have now accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.

These accusations are bullshit. We're supposed to believe that kavanaugh was a serial rapist as a high school sophomore and six FBI background checks completely missed it. At the same time, we're supposed to believe that this new woman, while in college, kept going yo high school parties where she watched a criminal gang rape ten times and never reported it.

Her affidavit snacks of falsehoods that as NY lawyer would easily pick apart.

Meanwhile Ford's vaunted polygraph us also falling apart.

Rush Limbaugh is right. This putrid, disgusting style of politics by democrats, ax well as avenatti dragging it all even deeper into the slimy politics of the left has GOP voters highly motivated to turn out.

When Lindsey Graham has had enough and goes on the offensive, you know the left has jumped the shark.

They don't back up her allegation. They just back up that 30 years later she told them about the alleged incident. There still is no corroboration. Makes about a strong an argument as if I told 4 people I flew on a flying saucer that I actually did... I'm still thinking she may not show tomorrow though either way could end up a disaster for Dems who have way overplayed their hand and will pay for it, either a little or a lot
