Rosenstein resigns or not?

Update: Or not - Rosenstein has not resigned. Meeting with Trump on Thursday!

Apparently Rod Rosenstein is on his way to the White House to offer his resignation, has already offered his resignation to Chief of Staff John Kelly, or is not resigning...

depending on which source you read,

Oddly, Trump is in New York today, and according to almost everyone had not made up his mind as to whether he was going to fire Rosenstein or not. Most of his advisers has suggested holding off at least through the mid-terms, if not till the Mueller probe was over.

Something tells me that there were more "shoes to drop" in regards to Rosenstein and his past behavior. If he actually is resigning, it would be because Rosenstein hopes to take the heat off so to speak.

This would also means that Robert Mueller would have a new boss.

The speculation about those implications would run rampart.

Rosenstein Has Offered to Resign

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, Axios reports.

Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so he plans to step down.

Washington Post:
“One Trump adviser said the president has not been pressuring Rosenstein to leave the job, but his resignation had been a topic of private discussions all weekend. The person said Rosenstein had expressed to others that he should resign because he ‘felt very compromised’ and was now a potential witness in the Russia probe rather than a supervisor.”

New York Times:
“It was also unclear whether Mr. Trump would accept a resignation that would likely thrust the administration into further turmoil just weeks before November’s midterm elections.”

The Justice Department's rules of succession dictate that Solicitor General Noel Francisco would be next in line to take over for Rosenstein.

Francisco's track record as a lawyer mirrors Trump's rhetoric against intelligence authorities, with cases that include rebukes of the FBI and a defense of executive authority.

Can't imagine a better week if we get both Kavanaugh confirmed and Rosenstein out. Trump has a steel spine and both appear very likely imo. The left has thrown so much shit out against a good man they will be devastated, and that will be a big positive step for our country.

People want strong leaders and we finally have one. Thank God for President Trump.

He's going to meet the President on Thursday. I have to wonder if we will have another Friday Night Massacre.

If the next in line refuses to fire Muller I have to wonder how far down the list he will have to go.

Maybe a Friday Morning Tweetsecre?

Rosenstein Will Stay In Job For Now

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein “will stay in the job for now, but will meet with the president on Thursday, after officials described a series of private discussions that pointed to his resignation or firing,” the Washington Post reports.

“The announcement capped a tense few hours after officials said Rosenstein had told White House officials over the weekend that he was willing to resign in the wake of revelations that he once suggested secretly recording President Trump.”

New York Times:
“A departure by Mr. Rosenstein would likely thrust the administration into further turmoil just weeks before November’s midterm elections.”

The Supreme Court Has a Legitimacy Crisis

“The American public has long had a deep and abiding faith in the Supreme Court as the last say in our public legal disputes. … But in recent years, the public has soured somewhat on the Court. … Now experts say the political firestorm surrounding Kavanaugh’s nomination could tip this trend toward a full-blown crisis,” Vox reports.

“‘If the Court loses legitimacy, either with the public as a whole or with one particular party, then political actors might be tempted to ignore it — which has happened before.’”

Kavanaugh Faces More Allegations

Montgomery County investigators confirmed they’re aware of another sexual assault complaint against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the Montgomery County Sentinel reports.

“While investigators weren’t specific and spoke on background, they said they are looking at allegations against Kavanaugh during his senior year in high school after an anonymous witness came forward this weekend.”

“This would potentially bring the number to four women accusing Kavanaugh of wrongdoing.”

Trump Floated Firing Rosenstein to Save Kavanaugh

Gabriel Sherman: “For all the morning’s madness, there may have been an underlying logic. Over the weekend, as Brett Kavanaugh’s prospects appeared increasingly imperiled, Trump faced two tactical options, both of them fraught. One was to cut Kavanaugh loose. But he was also looking for ways to dramatically shift the news cycle away from his embattled Supreme Court nominee. According to a source briefed on Trump’s thinking, Trump decided that firing Rosenstein would knock Kavanaugh out of the news, potentially saving his nomination and Republicans’ chances for keeping the Senate… The leak about Rosenstein’s resignation could have been the result, and it certainly had the desired effect of driving Kavanaugh out of the news for a few hours.

“The confusion surrounding Rosenstein’s tenure may not give Kavanaugh a reprieve. In public, Trump continues to voice support for his embattled Supreme Court nominee… But in private, Trump is growing increasingly frustrated by being mired in a deteriorating political situation beyond his control. On Monday morning, a Republican briefed on Trump’s thinking said the president has been considering pulling Kavanaugh’s nomination.

“According to the source, Trump allies are imploring him to cut Kavanaugh loose for the sake of saving Republicans’ electoral chances in the midterms.”

another pederast lie bites the dust -

The chief of police in Montgomery County, Md., says his officers are not looking into sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, appearing to contradict a local news report that "investigators" were looking at a potential second high school misconduct allegation.

"I have spoken with my chief of detectives, and neither of us have any knowledge of anyone coming forward to us to report any allegations involving Judge Kavanaugh," police Chief J. Thomas Manger told the Washington Examiner in an email.

The Montgomery County Sentinel reported Monday that "Montgomery County investigators" were "looking at" a " potential second sexual assault complaint" dating from Kavanaugh's senior year the Georgetown Prep high school "after an anonymous witness came forward this weekend."

The local publication did not identify the "investigators" as police, but ordinarily county police would investigate an alleged crime before a decision on whether to prosecute.

Harry and Bob are both internet junkies who are from Montgomery County, and have decided to take it upon themselves to investigate an anonymous poster who posted on the Daily Kos blog that Kavanaugh had raped her repeatedly in the second grade.

Thus: Montgomery County investigators investigate anonymous report.

It’s not yet clear if this is the same person Michael Avenatti has said he’s representing, so, if this report is validated, there might be four sets of allegations or it might still be three.

Maybe out there there’s a man who one time as a teenager tried to rape a fellow high school student and never did it again, but in general, predators are predators. Given even one credible report, let alone multiple ones, it’s likely that what’s become public about Kavanaugh is just the tip of the iceberg.
