The Woodward book is a scam. I don’t talk the way I am quoted. If I did I would not have been elected President. These quotes were made up. The author uses every trick in the book to demean and belittle. I wish the people could see the real facts - and our country is doing GREAT!

The Constitution vests executive power in the president, not “senior officials.” For an unelected appointee to hide documents or refuse to carry out the lawful orders of the elected president is not noble or patriotic. It is an assault on democracy.

Well thank you for pointing out the obvious Roger...

I agree. Nobody "elected" the nameless official in question. His moral authority to do anything other than what he took and oath to do (serve at the pleasure of the President) is lacking.

I would recommend that whoever this particular person is, may perhaps want to quit his/her post and attempt to run for elected office. Then if the people "want" what it is that he/she is selling, that person can start making decisions.

In the meantime, the constitution provided that the power of the executive branch comes from the President. Follow the President or quit! Simple enough.

SUPREME COURT CLASH: It's day 4 of the fiery confirmation hearing of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Newly leaked documents suggest that Kavanaugh might have made multiple false statements under oath both during this hearing and in the past. At least three Democratic senators say they are willing to risk their jobs to make these confidential documents public.

you know, under GOP administrations the alky gets amnesia over two fundamental concepts -

elections have consequences and consent of the governed.

obviously both apply to trump as much as they have applied to every other legally elected representative of our republic.

I would recommend that whoever this particular person is, may perhaps want to quit his/her post and attempt to run for elected office. Then if the people "want" what it is that he/she is selling, that person can start making decisions.

i'm starting to come around to the notion that the op/ed was written by some hack inside the NYT, cleverly using the word "lodestar" to fool an idiot like the alky into thinking the author was pence since he's on the record repeatedly using that word.this could turn out to be one of the more elaborate hoaxes ever pulled on the american people, and would go far in illustrating just how unhinged the left has become.

now then, in an honest media outlet the straight news reporters would be working overtime to unmask the author. but since we're dealing with a pack of dishonest and insufferable hacks like maggie haberman, i suspect no one on the news side of the NYT is going to go anywhere near this story.

C.H. Truth said...

Well that pesky constitution provides that the power of the executive branch comes via the President. So if you "really" swear to follow the constitution, then you sort of have to follow it (and by proxy the President).

It's one thing for a Justice to question what the constitution means, but employees of the Federal Government don't have that authority.

Again Roger, this goes back to the entire concept of the "deep state". Liberals seem to want to demand that there is no such thing AND appear to simultaneously argue that there is such a thing and that it's justified.

Or they don't understand that once Federal employees decide that they should work "against" those who have been elected to run their agencies, that is "exactly" what people refer to as "deep state" - one where the Federal employees believe that they are bigger than those who are elected to make decisions.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The big question is that will the thriving economy will help the Republicans to hold onto the house and Senate??

(Bloomberg) -- American wages unexpectedly climbed in August by the most since the recession ended in 2009 and hiring rose by more than forecast, keeping the Federal Reserve on track to lift interest rates this month and making another hike in December more likely.

Average hourly earnings for private workers increased 2.9 percent from a year earlier, a Labor Department report showed Friday, exceeding all estimates in a Bloomberg survey and the median projection for 2.7 percent. Nonfarm payrolls rose 201,000 from the prior month, topping the median forecast for 190,000 jobs, after a downwardly revised 147,000 advance. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.9 percent, still near the lowest since the 1960s.

But this gets doesn't mean crooked Trump and the daily scandal show will help the Republicans in November.

That would appear to be a question of partisanship and how you view basic human behavior. I would never teach my sons that if they have an issue at work, to write an anonymous article to a newspaper. Certainly there are very few historical "patriots" who were anonymous.

Moreover, the President is "elected" to make decisions. Federal employees are "hired" to carry out those directions. There is nothing "heroic" about refusing to do your job.

But then again... I guess liberals have never taken that whole "work ethic" very seriously. Your job is something you do, as long as it doesn't get in the way of more important things (like throwing a political temper tantrum because your person didn't win an election).

Next Wave of Political Books Are on the Russia Probe GOOD! GREAT!

Vanity Fair: “Already this past November, Doubleday announced that CNN legal analyst and New Yorker staff writer Jeffrey Toobin had inked a deal for a book about Robert Mueller’s special-counsel probe into alleged Russian collusion and obstruction of justice among members of Trump’s inner circle. More recently, I’ve learned that New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt has a Mueller-oriented project in the works as well. Schmidt has blown the lid off some of the most consequential stories about the Russia investigation.

“In a similar vein, Times columnist and best-selling author James Stewart is writing a book about the relationship between the White House, the F.B.I. and the Justice Department.”

‘WE ARE A SUPERPOWER RUN BY A SIMPLETON’

Michael Gerson: “Here is the increasingly evident reality of the Trump era: We are a superpower run by a simpleton. From a foreign policy perspective, this is far worse than being run by a skilled liar. It is an invitation to manipulation and contempt.

“What we are finding from books, from insider leaks and from investigative journalism is that the rational actors who are closest to the president are frightened by his chaotic leadership style. They describe a total lack of intellectual curiosity, mental discipline and impulse control.

“Trump pursues no deep or subtle strategies. He does not even consistently seek his own interests. He responds like a child or a narcissist — but I repeat myself — to positive or negative stimulation. It is the reason that Trump’s lawyers, in the end, can’t allow him to be interviewed by Robert Mueller. It would be like a 9-year-old defending a PhD dissertation. Or maybe a rabbit jumping into a buzz saw.”

LOL, but sad.

When I challenge the president, I do it directly. My anonymous colleague should have, too.

I, too, am a senior Trump administration official. I proudly serve in this administration, and I enthusiastically support most of its decisions and the direction it is taking the country. But I don’t agree with the president on everything. When there is disagreement, there is a right way and a wrong way to address it. I pick up the phone and call him or meet with him in person.

Like my colleagues in the Cabinet and on the National Security Council, I have very open access to the president. He does not shut out his advisers, and he does not demand that everyone agree with him. I can talk to him most any time, and I frequently do. If I disagree with something and believe it is important enough to raise with the president, I do it. And he listens. Sometimes he changes course, sometimes he doesn’t. That’s the way the system should work. And the American people should be comfortable knowing that’s the way the system does work in this administration.

What this anonymous author is doing is very dangerous. He or she claims to be putting the country first, and that is the right goal. Everyone in government owes a greater loyalty to our country and our Constitution than to any individual officeholder. But a central part of our democracy requires that those who work directly for the president not secretly try to undermine him or his policies. What the author is describing is an extra-constitutional method of addressing policy disputes within the administration. That’s wrong on a fundamental level.

If the author truly is a senior administration official, then he or she has the kind of access to the president I described. If that is the case, this official has ample opportunity to try to persuade the president to change course. If the author is frustrated by an inability to persuade the president, then he or she is free to resign.

Irma dissipated into a tropical depression before it reached Georgia, Matthew struck South Carolina as a catagory 1 and miss Georgia completely, and Julia wonder around the Atlantic and never made landfall.

So Dennis's claim that he was "hit by 3 storms in the last five years" is at best specious. It's far more drama than facts. No wonder the only one I could remember was Irma the rest went by with in Matthews case is nothing more and a bad rain storm and absolutly nothing from Julia whatsoever.

So yes, Dennis lied and at was a coward. (Maybe he wrote the op-ed to the Times).

Kavanaugh will be confirmed as McConnell rushes the nominee through the senate....IMO....he is as slimy as trump with all his non answers and his moving tenets....yeah, you will love him, but he will protect the POTUS through maneuvering and that is why he is on the senate floor....sad very sad and predictable...

For example, he testified that Roe v. Wade is “settled as a precedent of the Supreme Court.” But he said essentially the opposite in a 2003 email leaked to The Times. “I am not sure that all legal scholars refer to Roe as the settled law of the land at the Supreme Court level since Court can always overrule its precedent, and three current Justices on the Court would do so,” he wrote then.

Judge Kavanaugh’s backers in the Senate brushed this off by pointing out that his 2003 statement was factually correct. They’re right, which means that his testimony this week was both disingenuous and meaningless.

As we’ve learned with each new trickle of previously withheld documents, Judge Kavanaugh didn’t start misleading senators just this week.

At his 2004 confirmation hearing before the Judiciary Committee, he denied any involvement in the vetting of a controversial judicial nominee while serving as one of President George W. Bush’s White House lawyers. The nominee, William Pryor Jr., had among other things called Roe v. Wade “the worst abomination of constitutional law in our history.” In fact, Mr. Kavanaugh was more than a little involved, as emails from that period — which Senate Republicans had withheld until early Thursday morning — made clear.

Denise, funny thing about America and our choice of where we live. Your choice is the sewer ditch.

I grew up in Michigan. The US Army moved me to Kansas. It was my choice to live here. Zero complaints. The lands we have bought were purchased during economic down turns in ag.

If it happens again I will buy more pieces, only unencumbered ones with full mineral rights.

commie said...

For our asshole goat fucker....

By Florida statute, the application of hurricane deductibles is triggered by windstorm losses resulting only from a hurricane declared by National Weather Service. Hurricane deductibles apply for damage that occurs from the time a hurricane watch or warning is issued for any part of Florida, up to 72 hours after such a watch or warning ends and anytime hurricane conditions exist throughout the state.
Hurricane deductibles and their triggers are set by law and are the same for the private, or regular market, as well as Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (CPIC), the state-run program which provides property insurance to consumers. The hurricane deductible applies only once during a hurricane season. All insurers must offer a hurricane deductible of $500, 2 percent, 5 percent and 10 percent of the policy dwelling or structure limits. The percentages are based on the total value of the home. By Florida law, property insurance rate filings must include mitigation discounts or credits. These are applied to property insurance premiums. These discounts are available for personal and commercial residential property only. See Florida Office of Insurance Regulation for details.

Maybe our dear sweet denying everything Cramps can tell us how this women's account of damage to her home in Brevard county is a drama queen!!! Such a douche nozzle and bigot....

https://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/2018/09/07/hey-hurricane-irma-and-other-tough-challenges-we-win/1202304002/

First, on Sept. 10, 2017, Hurricane Irma dropped by to blow the roof off my house, garage and laundry room.

Less than three weeks later, as I helped get my mother into a nursing home in Kentucky, I got a phone call. My husband, in a routine check-up, learned he needed major surgery for a previously undetected, potentially fatal, problem. Weeks of recovery followed.

My mother's dementia worsened. By May 12, she was dead.

In the midst of all this, out thousands of dollars and still recovering from the blows, I've met and written about others with equally challenging situations. From those who didn't have enough money to replace food that rotted in their refrigerators to displaced people who had monetary resources but were butting heads with insurance companies not known for cutting quick checks.

So little brains...such a big bullshitter....

Commonsense said...

It's not and unlike you she's not whinning about it or being a drama queen.

You had leaks around the flashing of your chimney (a common problem with roofs) and you made a major case of it. You're roof didn't leak because of the storm, it leaked because it was old and needed to be replaced.

Like I said, stay in Georiga you don't belong in Florida

commie said...

nd you made a major case of it. You're roof didn't leak because of the storm, it leaked because it was old and needed to be reply

You are such a douche nozzle and idiot to boot...First I did not whine...I said I paid the deductible and moved on...you are the one who made it an issue for me....asshole....The flashing leaked because the chimney acted like a sail in hurricane force winds, captured the water and leaked down the chimney....8 plus inches of wind driven rain had everything to do with it....Roof is 6 years old asshole shingles are still fine....flashing fixed and all dry wall inside was replaced....keep projecting....it is sooooo much fun making you look like the shallow idiot you are...
