But of course, they never knew anything about this?

I'd ask if the Obama WH ever stated this under oath, but of course Trump has been accused of criminal action for what he says on Twitter or to the media.

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump Jr. has agreed to be interviewed next month by the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee, a source close to the president's eldest son confirmed to NBC News on Tuesday.

The source said that the closed-door session, expected to take place in mid-June, will be limited to between five and six topics and will last between two and four hours.

This comes after the Intelligence Committee, chaired by Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., said last week that it had issued a subpoena for Trump Jr. to answer questions about his assertion that he only had limited knowledge of a project to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

Trump claimed that Wray’s answer was so wrong, he “couldn’t understand” it.

He said that it was not spying.

In fact, Trump said that the “spying” answer from Barr was “perfect,” and that Wray gave “a ridiculous answer.”

Director Wray answered the question honestly. But the President is not interested in the truth.

"Well that's not the term I would use," Wray said.

"Lots of people have different colloquial phrases," he added to a Senate appropriations subcommittee. "I believe that the FBI is engaged in investigative activity and part of investigative activity includes surveillance activity of different shapes and sizes. To me the key question is making sure that it's done by the book consistent with our lawful authorities."

@MZHemmingway

I am genuinely curious and would love some feedback from media, others who assert wiretaps, overseas intelligence assets, honeypots, informants, etc., are not spying... let's agree for argument's sake that those things aren't spying. What, then, *is* spying?

Commonsense said...

He said that it was not spying.

Well Roger, same question as above, If what the FBI was doing was not spying, what was it?

The answer was of course the FBI was spying. It was spying in every sense of the word.

Anonymous said...

Of course it was.
Roger is a remove Trump by any means.

Rather then debate policy and ideas.

FBI Director Christopher A. Wray said Tuesday that he would not call the investigation of Trump campaign advisers in 2016 “spying’’ — distancing himself from language used by President Trump and Attorney General William P. Barr.

“That’s not the term I would use,” Wray said in response to a question from Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) during a congressional hearing about the FBI’s budget.

Wray, who took over the bureau in 2017, urged lawmakers to wait for the findings from Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who is expected to issue a report in a month or two about the origins of the FBI investigation into the Trump campaign, and the law enforcement tools that were used, including foreign intelligence surveillance court orders.

The FBI director’s comments are in contrast to those made by Barr at a Senate hearing on April 10, when he said “spying did occur, yes,” calling it “a big deal.”

Nobody asked the obvious follow up. "What term would you used?"

He's covering the institutional ass of the FBI.

Someone needs to be held accountable.

I did. Wray did not answer, he dodged. See above.

Exactly.

Good thing the Spies are being looked into, Mueller over spent and grossly under delivered.

Sen. Warren, really, too afraid to be asked real questions.

"On Instagram, Warren posted a GIF calling Fox a “hate-for-profit … racket,” and added a statement: “I won’t do a town hall with Fox News because I won’t invite millions of Democratic primary voters to tune in, inflate ratings, and help sell ads for an outlet that profits from racism and hate."
