This year, I hear a lot about the numbers, but there seems to be very few people that anyone seriously considers a contender, and some of those (such as 2% Beto) have already seemed to have come and gone. Who knows if Pete Buttigieg's candidacy will stay relevant or go the way of Beto. After all, he is barely old enough to run for President, and his experience consists of being a Mayor. Heck I got 112 votes for Mayor of Mankato (placing me third) when I was 19 years old by running nothing more than a mock campaign.
But seriously, if Elizabeth Warren is the new rising star, then that should really worry some Democrats. To say she is "vulnerable" is an understatement. To say she is any more Presidential than the current President is not even an easy thing to argue with a straight face.
We know that Candidates (especially early) are moving to the flanks of the Party in order to garner the activists needed to win the nomination. But at the end of the day, they need to be able to move back towards the middle (or at least that is the conventional wisdom). I don't know that someone like Warren can possibly do so. Nor could Bernie, Harris, Spartacus, or several others. Biden (and possibly Buttigieg) seem to have the only chance of making the cross back and appealing down the middle.

I actually think the polls between the Democrat candidates are more reliable that the head to head with Trump because they are polling far more Democrats in their samples.
Sanders' speech yesterday hurt him a lot. He essentially said that even though Socialism failed in the past, trust him, it will work in the future.

The fact the Warren is rising shows a lot of anxiety about Biden being the nominee. Amazingly enough she is the only other "center-left" candidate.
I could not be happier that she has gotten off her knees and is rising.

Buttigieg reminds me of Obama and his ability to reach across racial divisions in some part because he is gay.
He believes that every American has a right to health care, but he doesn't support universal Medicare for all. Obamacare is not going away.
No matter which Democratic candidate wins the election, unless the Democrats regain the Senate, McConnell will not cooperate on anything. He will go down in history as the worst majority leader ever. From day one of the Obama presidency, even though today because he will not have a vote on anything coming from the house.

When Trump says "I'd take it" in reference to illegal foreign election help, he's signaling to Russia and other countries that their interference will go unpunished if it enables his re-election. Free and fair elections in America ARE NOT a given. Now is the time to defend them. He would not report it to the FBI because it's just opposition research.

The President said he would listen if a foreigner had dirt on a political opponent, and if it warranted it, he would take that information to the FBI.
But when his opponent in the last election HIRED a foreign agent to go to other foreigners to "dig up dirt" on Trump... nobody seemed to wonder why this was considered "okay".
The day someone charges Christopher Steele with a crime, and charges everyone who paid him as accessories is the day I will take the "opposition research from foreigners is a horrible crime" rhetoric seriously.

It wasn't a crime. If it wasn't a crime in 2016, it's not going to be a crime in 2020. What the media "thinks" or what Politicians "demand" is not the law. The law is the law is the law, and the law determined (multiple times) that the Trump Tower meeting was not a criminal action.
Maybe in 2020, some foreigners will come to Trump with some unverified information about his opponent, and he can use his FBI to take that unverified information, go to the FISA courts, and get a warrant to spy on his opponent's campaign?

Had to leave this off last time when "discussing" with lo iq. Somehow lo iq thinks if the Trump campaign had any contact with Kislyak it was Russian collusion or interference... He sure was mentioned a lot in Mueller "report" but somehow all his Obama contacts were left out.

Let it be clear that the FBI cleared the Clinton campaign of collusion in regards to the dossier.
None of this bears any resemblance to "oppo research" - information obtained lawfully by asking questions, reading archives, etc. It was crime, no less criminal for being outsourced to foreigners beyond the reach of US prosectors.

Breaking news: Kellyanne Conway has recommended for removal from federal office for violating the Hatch Act on numerous occasions.
The Office of Special Counsel recommended Thursday that Kellyanne Conway be fired from the federal government for violating the Hatch Act on “numerous occasions.”
The Hatch Act is a federal law that limits certain political activities of federal employees.
The OSC, which is separate from the office with a similar name previously run by Robert Mueller, said in a report released Thursday that White House Counselor Conway violated the Hatch Act by “disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media.
“Ms. Conway’s violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act’s restrictions. Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system—the rule of law,” the OSC said in a statement Thursday, noting that Conway has been a “repeat offender.”
The law’s purpose is to ensure federal programs are “administered in a nonpartisan fashion, to protect federal employees from political coercion in the workplace, and to ensure that federal employees are advanced based on merit and not based on political affiliation,” according to the OSC. The office is an independent federal agency that monitors compliance with that law and others.
The White House on Thursday blasted the OSC ruling as “unprecedented.”
“The Office of Special Counsel’s (OSC) unprecedented actions against Kellyanne Conway are deeply flawed and violate her constitutional rights to free speech and due process. Others, of all political views, have objected to the OSC’s unclear and unevenly applied rules which have a chilling effect on free speech for all federal employees,” deputy press secretary Steven Groves said in a statement Thursday. “Its decisions seem to be influenced by media pressure and liberal organizations – and perhaps OSC should be mindful of its own mandate to act in a fair, impartial, non-political manner, and not misinterpret or weaponize the Hatch Act.”
So a presidential spokesperson is violating the Hatch act by criticizing the president's opponents. That's an Orwellian misinterpretation of the Hatch act.

* Peter Strock and James Comey cleared Hillary in separate "investigations" into her illegal email server and then Russian interference. Amazingly 302's went missing or were never made, the cd backup was damaged, 30,000 emails destroyed after subpoena, server wiped, blackberry's destroyed by hammer, immunity deals offered without any proffer, interviews without transcript or recording, group interrogations, backups lost etc, etc etc. The FBI must be a pretty small place with the same few agents needing to handle these cases, (as well as Uranium One) and manage to screw up so much. Gee, there are 35,000 employees but somehow just a few incompetent ones appear to do all the work on the same critical cases. And did you hear Strock even forgot to destroy some text messages, though those he made while working for Mueller who fired him after the previous ones came to light were also AMAZINGLY DESTROYED yet again. Talk about bad luck.
And we know how reputable Strock and Comey were.
The stench couldn't be greater and only an idiot would believe this was an honest investigation. No wonder the dems are scared shitless, look at Conway today, more deep state antics.
