Complainant went to Democrats for political help before filing complaint

Schiff got early account of fake complaint
The Democratic head of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, learned about the outlines of a C.I.A. officer’s concerns that President Trump had abused his power days before the officer filed a whistle-blower complaint, according to a spokesman and current and former American officials.
The C.I.A. officer approached a House Intelligence Committee aide with his concerns about Mr. Trump only after he had had a colleague first convey them to the C.I.A.’s top lawyer. Concerned about how that initial avenue for airing his allegations through the C.I.A. was unfolding, the officer then approached the House aide. In both cases, the original accusation was vague
The House staff member, following the committee’s procedures, suggested the officer find a lawyer to advise him and meet with an inspector general, with whom he could file a whistle-blower complaint. The aide shared some of what the officer conveyed to Mr. Schiff.

This is being reported by the NY Times, so there is no reason why liberals should question the claim. Conservative should probably question what was left out, but that is besides the point. More facts will come out. That is for sure.

But the allegations are that this intelligence official did not simply file a complaint which would then go to Congress, but rather he went to Democrats within Congress first, got their political advice, and then went back to file the complaint with the help of Attorneys tied to the Democratic Party.

This is back asswards from how the Intelligence community is trained and expected to handle a complaint like this. The only possible reason why he wouldn't have followed the legal and proper channels provided for him, is because of politics. If he really had questions on how to proceed, his first call should have been to an Inspector General, or to the Human Resources department of his company. The fact that he went outside the chain of command should probably get him fired and it may actually be flirting with breaking the law.

Certainly, he has sacrificed any form of legal protection as a so called whistle blower for not even being in the same vicinity as following the set guidelines.

The NY Times is attempting to frame this as if it is business as usual. As if most complainant first goes to Congress and that Congress has a preset "procedure" on how to help wayward complainants who have an odd difficulty understanding how to do this on his own? Either the complainant is a toddler who needed his hand held or he was someone looking to determine how to create the most political fodder. Perhaps this was all just a set up from the beginning.

Moreover, Adam Schiff has repeatedly stated that neither he or any Democrats had spoken to or had contact with the complainant (as this was alleged when the complaint first came out based on the way it was written). Turns out that on the subject of this complaint and the subsequent impeachment inquiry, Schiff not only makes up stuff during important hearings, but makes bald faced lies in direct responses to direct questions.

I strongly suspect that Democrats are now understanding that they cannot both protect this person's identity and be able to effectively move forward with any of his allegations. They are likely attempting to use their leaks to favorable media to get a leg up on the spin. But make no mistake, the fact that this guy went political, hired DNC lawyers, and that Schiff and others knew about this "prior" to the complaint being released is a big political problem for them, it exposes them as dishonest, and it undermines the entire basis of the complaint. Let's not even talk about how this damages the credibility of "impeaching" a sitting President over something this dishonest.

Once again Trump and the Republicans were correct in assuming that this was a political hit job from the beginning. This NY Times story confirms that (regardless of how they are trying to spin the bad news).

The Department of Justice, framed it as proof of the deep state conspiracy theory bullshit.

They highlighted allegations against the media and the whistleblower report.

In his irrational behavior in the press conference today, he accused the whistleblower as a traitor and the fake news.

Spin all you want, but the President will be impeached by the house. And we might actually see the first time in history, to see him convicted and removed from office.

President Trump lashed out at a reporter Wednesday during a joint press conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö when pressed on the conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that is the basis of an impeachment inquiry in the House of Representatives.

“What did you want President Zelensky to do about Vice President Biden and his son Hunter?” Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason asked Trump, after the president had asserted that “Biden and his son are stone-cold crooked.” Variations of that question had been repeatedly posed during the news conference. Trump never gave a direct reply.

“Are you talking to me?” Trump asked Mason. “We have the president of Finland. Ask him a question.”

“I have one for him,” Mason responded. “I just wanted to follow up on the one that I asked you.”

“Did you hear me?” the president expostulated, and demanded Mason ask Niinistö a question. “I’ve given you a long answer. Ask this gentleman a question, don’t be rude.”

Btw an actual CIA whistleblower has specific actions to take. This individual broke these specific rules.

He actually should be prosecuted if he actually took improper steps intentionally, as it appears when he first went to lying Schiff before others.

According to the Inspector General, the whistleblower followed the rules.

The "inspector general" never ask for or review the transcript or any other evidence before he declare the accusations "credible". I'm not filled with confidence.

I also invite the "inspector general" tell us where in the rules does he get to contact staffer for a hostile congressional committee chairman to help him write the complaint when it's suppose to be kept confidential.

This man needs to come out of the woodwork. It was a stretch to call him a "whistleblower" before, not\w it strains all credibility.

This looks like a pre-plan political conspiracy.

Myballs said...

The whistleblower didn't break the rules. He broke the law.

And strange that this story is nowhere on drudge in favor of bashing Trump. What has happened to drudge?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The bullshit from you again CH, was nothing but propaganda from the DOJ

The Inspector General of the State Department met with members of Congressional committees Thursday after sending them an urgent request to meet Wednesday. According to Rep. Jamie Raskin, the IG showed them a packet of "propaganda" that was being distributed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

"It's essentially a packet of propaganda and disinformation and spreading conspiracy theories. Those conspiracy theories have been widely debunked and discredited," Raskin said.

In a joint statement, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Eliot Engel, Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, and Oversight and Reform Chairman Elijah Cummings said that the documents "reinforce concern that the President and his allies sought to use the machinery of the State Department to further the President’s personal political interests."

Rudy Giuliani confirmed that he gave the documents to Secretary Pompeo.

House Democrats announced Wednesday that they would subpoena White House officials by the end of the week if their demands for documents related to the investigation into President Donald Trump's pressure on Ukraine to investigate 2020 rival Joe Biden were not met.

If you actually looked at the stuff that leaked out today, showed highlights in yellow, that basically said the CIA and the whistleblower were attempting a coup.

He will be impeached.

Will he resign like Nixon? But it's going to happen Scott.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I have been noticing that Drudge report is not a pro Trump campaign anymore.

The whistleblower protection laws, protect him or her from prosecution or maybe an assassination attempt by a True Trump supporter like rrb !

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Trump hasn't attacked the inspector general, or Moscow Mitch McConnell, or even Romney, who is probably going to vote to convict the President.

Here we go:
First off, Ukraine is a very corrupt country. This is the one thing that all sides agree on.
In particular, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General in 2016 was Viktor Shokin, a man so corrupt that both the IMF and pretty much every European country insisted he be removed if Ukraine wanted any assistance from the outside world.
At this time, Shokin was not investigating Burisma, the energy company on which Hunter Biden held a board seat. This is one of the (many) reasons he was considered corrupt.
Joe Biden later told the story of Shokin’s firing like this: “I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a bitch. He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.” Now, this might be a bit of Biden exaggeration, but it accurately describes the general attitude toward Shokin at the time.
A new Prosecutor General was appointed and immediately reopened the investigation into Burisma. In other words, by switching prosecutors Biden probably made things harder on his son, not easier.
The new prosecutor eventually reached a deal with Burisma. As with everything in Ukraine, it’s unclear if this was on the up-and-up, but in any case it happened after Trump had won election and Joe Biden no longer had any power or influence.
There has never been even a hint of evidence that Hunter Biden did anything wrong. He’s a Washington lobbyist who sits on various boards and had done a few small jobs for Burisma during the Obama administration. The head of Burisma at the time was trying to assemble an “all-star” board of directors and approached Hunter Biden. Was this an attempt to curry favor with the White House? I wouldn’t be surprised. But that has nothing to do with Hunter Biden’s work for Burisma, which he says was mostly about corporate governance.
The new prosecutor has stated many times that his investigation came up with absolutely nothing on Hunter Biden.
Likewise, there’s not a hint of evidence that Joe Biden ever did anything wrong.
So that’s the Biden side of the story. Your Foxbot friends will never hear any of this, so I figure it’s useful for you to have it all in one place. I assure you that there is no partisan slant to any of this. This is pure conventional wisdom, agreed to by virtually everyone outside the Trump orbit.

The House Congressional Democrats wrote the State Department last week to request testimony from career officials on Ukraine and to demand the Trump State Department turn over requested documents on Ukraine.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced he would refuse to allow State Department officials to testify before the Congressional committees on impeachment.

This was after Democrats in the House violated fundamental principles, contacted State Department officials directly and told them NOT to contact legal counsel.

Democrat lawmakers also requested documents from the Pompeo State Department on Ukraine.

Today the State Department sent over the documents.
But they weren’t what the Democrats were expecting!

The Trump administration sent over documents on Hillary Clinton’s collusion with Ukraine in the 2016 election and the Biden Family’s massive pay-for-play with the Ukrainian regime!

Zing!

and this is why they insist we vote democrat:

Americans on average spent more on taxes in 2018 than they did on the basic necessities of food, clothing and health care combined, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey.

The survey's recently published Table R-1 for 2018 lists the average "detailed expenditures" of what the BLS calls "consumer units."

"Consumer units," says BLS, "include families, single persons living alone or sharing a household with others but who are financially independent, or two or more persons living together who share major expenses."

In 2018, according to Table R-1, American consumer units spent an average of $9,031.93 on federal income taxes; $5,023.73 on Social Security taxes (which the table calls "deductions"); $2,284.62 on state and local income taxes; $2,199.80 on property taxes; and $77.85 on what BLS calls "other taxes."

The combined payments the average American consumer unit made for these five categories of taxes was $18,617.93.

At the same time the average American consumer unit was paying these taxes, it was spending $7,923.19 on food; $4,968.44 on health care; and $1,866.48 on "apparel and services."

These combined expenditures equaled $14,758.11.

So, the $14,758.11 that the average American consumer unit paid for food, clothing and health care was $3,859.82 less than the $18,617.93 it paid in federal, state and local income taxes, property taxes, Social Security taxes and "other taxes."

I asked the BLS to confirm these numbers, which it did while noting that the "Pensions and Social Security" section of its Table R-1 included four other types of payments (that many people are not required to make or that do not go to the government) in addition to the average of $5,023.73 in Social Security taxes that 77.21% of respondents reported paying.

"You asked us to verify the amounts for the total taxes and expenditures on food, apparel/services, and healthcare," said BLS. "Based on table R-1 for 2018, your definition for food, apparel, and healthcare matches the BLS definition and the total dollars. Your dollar amounts for federal, state, and local income taxes and for property taxes are correct, as is the amount for Social Security deductions. For the combined pension amount [$6,830.71] that we publish however, in addition to the $5,023.73 for Social Security, there is an additional amount for government retirement deductions [$135.11], railroad retirement deductions [$2.85], private pension deductions [$608.22], and non-payroll deposits for pensions [$1,060.79]."

That Americans are forced to pay more for government than they pay for food, clothing and health care combined has become an enduring fact of life.

October 3, 2019 at 7:17 am EDT

Americans by a 45% to 38% plurality now support a vote by the House of Representatives to impeach President Trump, a USA Today/Ipsos Poll finds, as allegations continue to swirl around an embattled White House.

By a similar margin, 44% to 35%, those surveyed say the Senate, which would then be charged with holding a trial of the president, should convict Trump and remove him from office.

Trump’s Impeachment Defiance Spooks Key Voters
October 3, 2019 at 7:08 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 0 Comments

“President Trump was in trouble with women voters long before House Democrats launched a formal impeachment inquiry against him last week. Since then, his standing has grown only worse,” Politico reports.

“Nearly a half-dozen polls conducted since last Tuesday, when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi directed her colleagues to proceed with pursuing Trump for potentially impeachable offenses, have shown women voters rallying behind her decision, exacerbating concerns among White House allies that white women who helped carry Trump to victory in 2016 can no longer be counted on next November.

“The development comes as independent voters and college-educated whites — two more demographic groups that could make or break Trump’s reelection bid — have shown signs of softening their resistance to impeachment.”

Questions about Trump’s psychological stability have mounted throughout his presidency. But those questions have been coming even more frequently amid a recent escalation in Trump’s bizarre behavior, as the pressures of his upcoming reelection campaign, a possibly deteriorating economy, and now a full-blown impeachment inquiry have mounted. And the questioners have included those who have worked most closely with him.

“No president in recent memory—and likely no president ever—has prompted more discussion about his mental stability and connection with reality.

Flynn Lawyer’s Letter to Barr: Flynn Was Set Up to ‘Take Out’ Trump

Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn’s lawyer, Sidney Powell, wrote a letter to Attorney General William Barr in early June outlining her belief that the government targeted Flynn for “concocted and political purposes” in order to “take out” President Donald Trump.

She informed Barr that she intended to demand production of a large volume of evidence and suggested “a just resolution” to the Flynn case “if the evidence shows what we believe to be true.” She also made several requests, including for Barr to replace the prosecution team on the case and to determine “when, how, and on what basis the first investigation of General Flynn began.”

The letter, marked confidential and dated June 6, was released by the Flynn case prosecutors with minor redactions on Oct. 1 (pdf).

Flynn, former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency and former national security adviser to Trump, pleaded guilty on Dec. 1, 2017, to one count of lying to FBI agents during a Jan. 24, 2017, interview.

The letter outlines a plethora of documents that Powell believed would show that the agents didn’t have a proper reason to interview Flynn to begin with.

“It is increasingly apparent that General Flynn was targeted and taken out of the Trump administration for concocted and political purposes,” she said. “We believe there is specific evidence of that fact. He was the tip of the spear aimed at President Trump.”

Powell demanded that prosecutors produce dozens of pieces of evidence in an Aug. 30 court filing that to a degree mirrors the June letter. She also moved to have the judge hold the government in contempt of court for withholding the documents.

On Oct. 1, the prosecutors responded by refusing to produce anything in response to the request (pdf)…..

...Flynn has until noon on Oct. 22 to file his response.
