A deal?

Steve Mnuchin, Mitch McConnell, and Chuck Schumer are apparently pretty close to a deal that will essentially include most of the same things that were in the original Senate deal that was supposed to be agreed upon on Sunday, but was delayed over some preening by Pelosi and the Democrats.

The concerns regarding the $500 billion in corporate aid have been reduced (but not eliminated) by adding more oversight and some legal assurances that none of the money will be used for stock buybacks. Some other numbers have been increased and decreased and it appears that there is a working deal in principle.

Not sure where they are at with adding in the laundry list of items from the new "House bill" being proposed, which would cover everything from making airlines disclose their "carbon footprint" on all flights at time of booking, demanding that corporate boards be more "woke", establish a $15.00/hour federal minimum wage, and create a federally mandated 15 day early voting period and vote by mail for every State (which would like trigger lawsuits from a variety of States who will argue their State's rights in regards to their election laws).

None of this has to do with anything coronavirus related. I think there are plenty of Senators with the Democratic ranks who understand this, but the Pelosi led House Democratic caucus is completely out of control.

I am still skeptical that this doesn't blown up again. The far left believes that this is the "time" to push their agenda and believe that they can force the Republicans in both the House and Senate to roll over on this, due to the urgency of the situation.

Schumer is under tremendous pressure to get this done. He knows Pelosi is taking him over a cliff with her ridiculous bill,

White House Agrees to Oversight of Bailout Funds

March 24, 2020 at 9:35 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“The White House has agreed to allow enhanced scrutiny over a massive loan program that is a centerpiece of the Senate’s $2 trillion coronavirus economic package, taking steps to address a major Democratic concern and potentially pave the way for a vote by Tuesday night,” the Washington Post reports.

“President Trump has already said where he wants some of the money to go, promising assistance to cruise ship companies, for example, that have operations in Miami. And when he was asked Monday evening who would perform oversight of the program, Trump responded, ‘I’ll be the oversight.'”

“But during closed-door negotiations on Capitol Hill, White House officials have agreed to allow an independent inspector general and an oversight board to scrutinize the lending decisions.”

NOT-A-DICTATOR-YET TRUMP GETS PUT IN HIS PLACE.
WE STILL HAVE A DEMOCRACY, STABLE GENIUS!
