The President (among many others) were hopeful early on that things would not reach any sort of epidemic state. It's important for leaders not to induce panic in Americans.
Meanwhile, he had declared a national health emergency prior to most understanding what was going on, he had already banned travel to China and infected countries, and was doing plenty of things behind the scenes that we are now aware of.

Rather, wouldn't be RESPONSIBLE to focus on the here and now and the actions that are being taken.
Isn't it irresponsible, beyond petty, and extremely childish to keep bringing up things that happened weeks ago in an attempt to undermine our President our task force and our CDC response during a time of crisis...
You know like bring up the fact that Democrats said it was racist and an overreaction to ban travel from China (heck they criticized him for banning travel from Europe which was several days ahead of that curve as well).

Our Illinois governor Pritzker is now speaking, logically explaining why he has invoked a statewide "shelter in place" (stay at home if you can) policy. He just said he hopes we begin to see some decrease in the rate of new cases soon, but is honest in saying we cannot be sure how long this may have to last.

Just watched an interview with Fauci. He does not believe that he is being undermined or overruled in any way. He is still the main expert at the top and quite frankly he has a very prudent view point that seems completely apolitical.
He believes that we "have" been doing the right things and are currently doing the right things. He has praised the President's ACTIONS and has said that he believes that we are in a much different situation than places like Italy due to those actions.
Ironically, those places (like NYC) where they pushed back at the President for his early demands to prevent international travel are the ones today who demand the most draconian of measures.
This is true in Europe, where many of the leaders mocked our President early on and got upset that we shut down travel to both China and eventually Europe. They also called him racist and refused to follow suit due to their own silly notion of political correctness.
Now they too are in massive draconian shut downs.
We acted more quickly and more forcefully upfront... while the rest of the world demanded we were "racist" for doing so.
