Some more inconvenient facts!

Bottom line: This is not a political issue:

  • The Center for Disease Control is a government agency with over 15,000 employees and has a budget of over 12 billion dollars.
  • These are not a group of politicians making political decisions.
  • These are a group of doctors, scientists, and other health professionals who work on behalf of our country.
  • Their job is to study, fight, and formulate game plans regarding diseases (or in this case viruses like the coronavirus).
  • 99% of their jobs are exactly the same today as they were in 2016 prior to Trump being in office.
  • Trump has almost zero functional control of the day to day operations, and it's Congress (not the President) who would be providing additional funding.

Let's be clear, anyone criticizing the CDC in order to make "Trump" look bad is lacking not only in reasonable understanding of what the CDC does, but are lacking in simple common sense. Moreover, they are showing themselves to be little more than political opportunists, willing to use people's health concerns and possible grieving as a political tool. This sort of behavior is despicable in nature and tells us way more about the people criticizing as it does about the people they are criticizing.

Moreover, whatever issues the CDC is having, other agencies across the globe are also having, and in most cases, those other agencies are having much larger struggles. If there was truly something that the CDC should be doing (that they are not) then why is it that the other health agencies around the globe have not already figured it out? Perhaps because testing kits, vaccines, and other treatment options take time to develop for a virus that didn't even exist a few months ago. The CDC is not holding back or slacking off. Anyone who suggests that these professional are doing so, should probably just up and move elsewhere where they think its so much better.

I know medical professionals and have been in (with my sons) to two doctors since the outbreak. I heard no panic, or no suggestions of doom from anyone within the health community. Only a reasonable acceptance that this will spread, that it will not be fatal to anyone otherwise not susceptible to dire health complications. Quite frankly I have heard the comparison to the flu multiple times as a matter of perspective. The idea being that the worst case scenario for coronavirus will still kill substantially less people than the average cold and flu season will.

Health professionals are reacting with calm and reasonableness. It's the politicians and our media that seems to want to turn this into some sort of panic situation and put the "blame" on politicians. So I guess everyone can take one lead or the other. The calm demeanor of our health professionals or the sky is falling, finger pointing, of our completely childish and idiotic media and political class. It's your choice. Make it wisely.

"The number of deaths from coronavirus in the U.S. has climbed to 19, nearly all of them in Washington state."

Earlier today I was arguing with someone on twitter claiming that "bodies will be piling up" in two months. Then when he said the CDC was "lying to us and was covering up the real story" I knew I was dealing with a derange nut job.

The problem is other people believe the media hype and go into panic buying mode. Then the pother people who are not panic by the disease but know t there will be shortages go and buy.

Now you can't get Clorox wipes, hand sanitizers or toilet paper because several idiots bought a six month supply.

This is the sinister effect of a media hyping a story trying to get at Trump.

Oh yeah? Go take a look at the posts I just posted this morning on the next thread up regarding the coronavirus situation and Trump's gross mishandling of it.

Then why is Trump treating it like a purely political issue?
