A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds 60% of Americans say the worst is yet to come in the coronavirus pandemic, while 31% said the outbreak is not likely to be a major problem in the U.S.

Fox News announced the cable channel's response to the COVID-19 "crisis" in an internal memo urging employees to prepare for the worst as some of its biggest stars downplayed the threat of the novel coronavirus to viewers.
The network told its employees that it was "instituting telecommuting," reducing studio bookings, canceling the audience of "The Greg Gutfeld Show" and "reducing the staff footprint at our headquarters" in response to the virus, according to a copy of the memo obtained by CNN's Oliver Darcy.
"Various departments have also been asked to cancel all in-person meetings and summits and conduct business via Skype or by phone. We have also limited outside vendors from entering the building," Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and network president Jay Wallace said in the memo. "Programming changes will be enacted in the coming days on some of our platforms — our programming leadership team is working on this now and will communicate that accordingly."
The memo went on to describe the pandemic as a "crisis" despite network hosts' dismissals of prior warnings as "mass hysteria."
"Please keep in mind that viewers rely on us to stay informed during a crisis of this magnitude, and we are providing an important public service to our audience by functioning as a resource for all Americans," the memo said.
The memo comes as President Donald Trump faces heavy criticism for repeatedly trying to downplay the threat of the virus, which has exploded in the U.S. but has been impossible to fully track due to delays and limitations with testing. Some of the network's pro-Trump hosts have similarly tried to convince viewers that concern over the spread of COVID-19, which has killed at least 41 people in the U.S. and more than 4,900 people around the world, is just a media plot to smear the president.
Surgeon General Jerome Adams told White House reporters Saturday that there should be no more "criticism or finger-pointing" at the Trump administration's coronavirus response.
"We really need you all to lean into and prioritize the health and safety of the American people," Adams said at a briefing with Vice President Pence and other members of the White House's coronavirus task force.
"No more bickering. No more partisanship. No more criticism or finger-pointing," he continued. "There'll be plenty of time for that."

Maybe you missed a point that was made that Italy was so ill prepared for coronavirus that they didn't stop flights from China, they took infected people and put them in overburdened hospitals and didn't segregate them from patients with other health issues. Pretty lo iq thing to do.
The average age of a coronavirus fatality in Italy is 81 years old.
Just maybe you should consider Italy took the wrong steps.

Donald Trump has blamed former president Barack Obama and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for delays in tests amid the coronavirus pandemic, despite the president controlling the agency for the last three years.

Thermo Fisher, the largest maker of scientific tools, said Friday it plans to produce up to 5 million of a new test to detect the novel coronavirus that causes Covid-19.
The company, based in Waltham, Mass., plans to reach that level of production by the week of April 3, according to Ron O’Brien, a company spokesman.
The Food and Drug Administration granted the new test an emergency clearance late Friday.
Before Friday, the U.S. had struggled to increase its capacity to test for the virus, a key step in trying to limit the damage of the pandemic it is causing. According to a count kept by the American Enterprise Institute, a think tank, the country currently has the ability to run 26,000 tests a day. Another diagnostic test, made by Roche, was approved Friday morning. Roche said it could manufacture 400,000 tests a week.
“This action today shows our agency’s dedication to working around the clock to review and authorize diagnostics during this public health emergency,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn in a statement Friday. “We have been engaging with test developers and encouraging them to come to the FDA and work with us.”
Hahn said that the FDA has been in touch with 80 tests developers that plan to bring their tests through its emergency process.
The Thermo Fisher test will run on the company’s Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast Dx Real-time PCR instrument, which is already used in clinical laboratories.
“The authorization of our diagnostic test for COVID-19 will help to protect patients and enable medical staff to respond swiftly to treat those who are ill and prevent the spread of infection,” said Marc Casper, the chairman, president and CEO of Thermo Fisher, in a statement.
