Trump sets a goal... Heads explode all over the country!

Trump would like to see things moving forward by Easter...

So anyone who actually bothered to listen to the Press Conference would know that the President stated that it would be nice if we were able to get back into some sense of normalcy in the near future, citing Easter as an event that could be considered significant for many Americans.

He also stated that everything was going to be reevaluated at the end of the original fifteen day period and that the recommendations set forth by the task force, the CDC, and the doctors that attend these daily task forces would be the overriding factor. The doctors attending the press conference also explained that it is possible that "parts" of the country might be more open and parts of the country might still be shut down. They stated that it is unrealistic to suggest that everything will happen all at once all over the country.

The idea that Trump stated that "he" would order everything back to normal by Easter against the wishes of the CDC and Task force experts is simply put...

A big f-n lie.

Obviously if people are still "shut it" in the middle of April, that will be upwards of four weeks (something that has never happened in the history of our country). I can pretty much promise you that many many Americans will be ansy to resume their lives (or what is left of them). Many people are already suffering financially and some are days from not making monthly bills, paying rent or mortgages, and possibly weeks from financial ruin. A $1200 check from the Government is not going to cover it.

People are not going to be happy if they are financially ruined over a virus that may or may not actually affect or kill as many people as the seasonal flu. The panic generated over this by the media and politicians is an effective short term use of manipulation. But if this falls short of the apocalyptic predictions from many of these people, the fallout from those who went under financially will be enormous. Hindsight is always 20-20 and especially when it comes to people's financial well being.

If you were a Governor who shut down your state, ruined businesses, bankrupted constituents, and the coronavirus turns out to "not" to be the black plague that you were demanding it would be. Well I don't expect a simple "sorry I was wrong" to cut it. Right, wrong, or indifferent, people "will" blame the Politicians.

So like it or not, life as we have known it will have to resume some day. The country can not wait out a virus that may still be active in 18 months. What is our actual limit?

For some, Easter Sunday has been an event that they have held traditions since they were children. Whether that be Sunday Mass, a family get together, or pretty much anything that doesn't involve staying home in quarantine. There is no harm in providing some hope that this could be accomplished. If that hope is too optimistic, then the experts at the CDC and coronavirus task force will make that call. I promise you that the President will be in line with those recommendations.

And even if he isn't. The ultimate choice to live your life is up to the individual. Not the nanny state. Trump cannot order you to leave your house and attend Easter Mass. Likewise, I wouldn't be surprised if many people make Easter plans that are not compliant with the recommendations of the State.

Trump Blames Media for Economic Slowdown
March 25, 2020 at 5:50 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 220 Comments

As President Trump continues to question the advice of public health experts, he’s now blaming the media for the country’s economic slowdown.

“The LameStream Media is the dominant force in trying to get me to keep our country closed as long as possible in the hope that it will be detrimental to my election success. The real people want to get back to work ASAP. We will be stronger than ever before!”

WE MAY BE DEADER THAN EVER BEFORE. SEE THE FOLLOWING.

More Dying of COVID-19 In the U.S. Than We Know

“Medical professionals around the US told BuzzFeed News that the official numbers of people who have died of COVID-19 ARE NOT CONSISTENT with the number of deaths they’re seeing on the front lines.

“In some cases, it’s a lag in reporting, caused by delays and possible breakdowns in logging positive tests and making them public.”

BUT OF COURSE TRUMP WILL SAY THAT'S THE "LAMESTREAM MEDIA," NOT GENUINE MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS.

Governor Exempts Businesses from Social Distancing
March 25, 2020 at 10:14 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 114 Comments

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) “signed an executive order early this evening superseding a patchwork of local bans on public gatherings in Mississippi and other heightened restrictions that several municipalities across the state have ordered or considered in the wake of COVID-19’s spread inside Mississippi,” the Jackson Free Press reports.

“The order seems to declare that most types of businesses in Mississippi are ‘essential’ and thus exempt from social-distancing requirements suggested in the order.”

What if this governor "supersedes" numerous local bans that cities and towns are making and then the case and death rates start skyrocketing upward?

What then?

Thank you president Trump:

US was more prepared for pandemic than any other country, Johns Hopkins study found

The United States was ranked the best-prepared country in the world to handle a pandemic in late 2019 by the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (JHCHS) -- an assessment seemingly at odds with claims by Democrats that the Trump administration left the country vulnerable to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The Global Health Security Index was was "developed with guidance from an international panel of experts from 13 countries, with research by the Economist Intelligence Unit" from 2018 to 2019, The Washington Post reported last year. "More than 100 researchers spent a year collecting and validating publicly available data.”

At the same time, the paper noted that the U.S. score was still not perfect, and that "factors driving down the U.S. score include the risks of social unrest and terrorism, and low public confidence in government."

President Trump's campaign has argued in recent days that misinformation may be one of the leading causes of that lack of confidence. For example, Trump's team has pointed to claims by presidential contender Joe Biden that "no one on the National Security Council staff was put in charge" of pandemic preparedness, based on a report that in May 2018, then-National Security Adviser John Bolton eliminated the NSC’s Office of Global Health Security and Biodefense in a reorganization effort.

Rear Adm. R. Timothy Ziemer reportedly was ousted as senior director, and no replacement was named. But, FactCheck.org has determined that the matter amounted to a reorganization, and that “some team members [of the NSC pandemic office] were shifted to other groups, and others took over some of [the top official’s] duties.”

The White House says the NSC remains involved in responding to the coronavirus pandemic. A senior administration official said earlier this month that the NSC’s global health security directorate was absorbed into another division where similar responsibilities still exist, but under different titles. The work of coordinating policy and making sure that decisions made by Trump’s coronavirus task force are implemented is still the job of the NSC.

Separately, the Biden team has repeatedly argued that the president once referred to coronavirus as a "hoax." That claim has been refuted by numerous fact-checkers, including the Post's, which found that Trump was clearly referring to Democrats' efforts to blame him for the pandemic, not the virus itself.

Commonsense said...

1 Additionally, numerous Democrats, including Biden, have falsely claimed that the president cut the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) budget. The Associated Press has noted that those claims "distort" the facts.

Trump’s budgets have proposed cuts to public health, only to be overruled by Congress, where there’s strong bipartisan support for agencies such as the CDC and NIH. Instead, financing has increased. Indeed, the money that government disease detectives first tapped to fight the latest outbreak was a congressional fund created for health emergencies.

Some public health experts say a bigger concern than White House budgets is the steady erosion of a CDC grant program for state and local public health emergency preparedness — the front lines in detecting and battling new disease. But that decline was set in motion by a congressional budget measure that predates Trump.

“The CDC’s response has been excellent, as it has been in the past,” said John Auerbach, president of the nonpartisan Trust for America’s Health, which works with government at all levels to improve the nation’s response to high-risk health crises. Some Democrats have charged that Trump decimated the nation’s public health leadership, but Auerbach said CDC’s top scientific ranks have remained stable during the past three years.

And florida has an idiot Gov who won't shut the state down to keep trump happy you dumb fuck!!!!

Commonsense said...

Nevertheless, misleading reports about the Trump campaign's pandemic response efforts have continued to spread. A recent report by Reuters that the U.S. had recently terminated a CDC position in China was widely cited by Democrats and reporters as evidence of a lack of preparedness, and formed the basis for a reporter's question at a recent White House coronavirus briefing.

But, the article itself made clear that experts didn't think the move had anything to do with the spread of coronavirus in the United States.

"One disease expert told Reuters he was skeptical that the U.S. resident adviser would have been able to get earlier or better information to the Trump administration, given the Chinese government’s suppression of information," the outlet noted.

“In the end, based on circumstances in China, it probably wouldn’t have made a big difference,” former CDC epidemiologist and Emory University professor Scott McNabb told Reuters.

“The problem was how the Chinese handled it," McNabb continued. "What should have changed was the Chinese should have acknowledged it earlier and didn’t.”

Regardless, some lawmakers are pushing for more action out of an abundance of caution. Rep. Gerald Connolly, D-Va., and Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Ohio, have introduced a bill that would require future administrations to have experts always in place to prepare for new pandemics.

“Two years ago, the administration dismantled the apparatus that had been put in place five years before in the face of the Ebola crisis,” Connolly said. “I think, in retrospect, that was an unwise move. This bill would restore that and institutionalize it.”

Connolly said the bill is not meant to be critical of the Trump administration. He said it’s a recognition that Trump had to name a coronavirus responder just like Obama had to name one for Ebola in 2014. “We can’t go from pandemic to pandemic,” Connolly said.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee on March 4 passed the measure, which is co-sponsored by 37 Democrats and five Republicans.

The Worst Intelligence Failure in U.S. History
March 26, 2020 at 7:48 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Foreign Policy:
“Suffice it to say, the Trump administration has cumulatively failed, both in taking seriously the specific, repeated intelligence community warnings about a coronavirus outbreak and in vigorously pursuing the nationwide response initiatives commensurate with the predicted threat. The federal government alone has the resources and authorities to lead the relevant public and private stakeholders to confront the foreseeable harms posed by the virus. Unfortunately, Trump officials made a series of judgments (minimizing the hazards of COVID-19) and decisions (refusing to act with the urgency required) that have needlessly made Americans far less safe.

“In short, the Trump administration forced a catastrophic strategic surprise onto the American people. But unlike past strategic surprises—Pearl Harbor, the Iranian revolution of 1979, or especially 9/11—the current one was brought about by unprecedented indifference, even willful negligence. Whereas, for example, the 9/11 Commission Report assigned blame for the al Qaeda attacks on the administrations of presidents Ronald Reagan through George W. Bush, the unfolding coronavirus crisis is overwhelmingly the sole responsibility of the current White House.”

“Lawmakers acted with unusual speed and cooperation to produce the largest economic rescue package in U.S. history.”

“The sprawling legislation, which passed 96 to 0, would send checks to more than 150 million American households, set up enormous loan programs for businesses large and small, pump billions of dollars into unemployment insurance programs, greatly boost spending on hospitals, and much more.”

Jobless Claims Soar to 3.3 Million In the Last Week

Putting not only your own families at risk, but damaging every effort to deal with this crisis.

And you folks are still mired in your sophomoric semantics games. What will it take for you to wake up? Struggling for breath in a hospital that can't help you, knowing that you contributed to it with blind faith in an imbecile, will that do it?
