If you believe that this shows counties with mask mandates (gold) starting off with a much higher rate of Covid cases than counties without a mask mandate (blue) and then ending up with a considerably lower rate... then congratulations to whoever put out this chart for successfully fooling you into that belief.
What the chart actually shows is that the counties with mask mandates have gone from approximately 25 daily cases per 100,000 people down to 16 daily cases per 100,000, while the counties without a mask mandate have gone from just over 10 daily cases per 100,000 to just under 9 daily cases per 100,000.
So while the counties with a mask mandate have improved their standing against those without mask mandates, they are still seeing cases at a rate somewhere between 1.75 and 2.00 times that of the counties without the mandate.
Kansas (of course) is one of those red states that happens to have a Democratic Governor. A Governor who also implied during a recent press conference that what this chart misrepresents (that counties with a mask mandate are now seeing less cases per 100,000 than the maskless counties) is actually true.
Moreover, the underlying data that is associate with this chart is being currently withheld from people requesting it. Who knows to what degree that these actual numbers might be tortured, considering how they tortured basic mathematical and statistical decency by this insane manner of representing this.
Sure. We have seen "more" improvement from those who have mandated masks, but that could be determined by a large amount of factors (including the fact that they had higher rates to begin with). Always hard to "improve" all that much when you start off only showing a 0.1% positive test rate.
Ask yourself this question. If this was such a great statistic, then why did the great state of Kansas feel the need to misrepresent it? Is it because if we simply gave it straight to the American public, that they would no longer be misinformed enough to believe that 30,000 million Americans have already died from Covid?

With New Zealand overwhelmed by a terrifying 78 cases of Covid-19, prime minister Jacinda Ardern has taken the emergency decision to postpone the general election by a month.
New Zealand’s hospitals are presumably struggling to cope with their staggering total of five Covid-19 patients. The prospect of voters going to the polls and spreading their democratic germs, therefore, does not bear thinking about.
This is the latest authoritarian pandemic overreaction by Ardern’s government, which recently put Auckland back into lockdown. That decision was made because four new cases of Covid-19 were discovered in the city. It has a total of just 19 active cases, and, throughout the pandemic, not a single person has died from the virus there.
‘Covid Zero’ is not a reasonable requirement for a reopening of society. With uncertainty about when and even if a vaccine will be produced, such an approach could lead to perpetual restrictions.
But it is also striking how little reaction the news of the election delay has received, especially considering the outrage when Donald Trump suggested doing the same thing in the USA, a country far worse-hit by the virus than New Zealand.
Accusations of an autocratic takeover were aired in response to Trump’s idea. One senator called it a ‘serious, chilling attack on the democratic process’, and many Trump critics agreed. How can the difference in the reaction to Ardern’s decision be so stark?
It’s simple: Ardern is a poster girl both for liberals and for keen enthusiasts of authoritarian Covid-19 measures. Apparently this means she should be immune from criticism.
