Joy Phenix, 55, voted for gridlock. “They need a backstop,” said Ms. Phenix, who waited in a modest line that shuffled through the station all morning.
She voted for President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. in the general election, helping to usher in the first Democratic candidate for president in Georgia in 28 years. But on Tuesday, she voted for the Republican senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. If President Trump had been elected, she said she would have voted for the Democrats.
We've heard this sort of argument before. Many people do not like to consolidate power with one Party. Will there be enough of them to make a difference? Who knows. But while there is some logic in Biden voters crossing over and "splitting" their vote in this instance, there is little reason to believe that Trump voters will do the same thing.
Keep in mind that Perdue and the GOP group both ran well ahead of where Trump ran against Biden. But will there be "Trump" voters who will not come out and vote for the Republicans now that it will not help Trump? I guess we will probably never know for sure the where, how, and why... but sometime between now and Valentines day, we might know who won.

The abuse of power is now. This is a constitutional crisis because one party has decided that it cares more for power than for the American system. Giving one iota of support for Trump’s unconstitutional coup attempt is discrediting for every politician and commentator who fails to call it out loudly and unequivocally. A decent few, like Sens. Ben Sasse and Mitt Romney have done so. Find your voice, or don’t insult us by calling yourself a patriot.
You are supporting sedition.

scumbags and grifters, alky. propped up by a liberal IRANIAN billionaire. sucking iranian COCK.
never forget that.
the motivations of folks like Ms. Phenix used to matter and used to factor into the odds of who won/lost. sadly, we've moved past that.
now, every election going forward will be stolen by the left. the only differences will be the degree. stolen by 5 points? 7? the dead will rise every two years to vote democrat, ballots duped or dumped, voting machines will be infiltrated.
we're in banana republic third world territory now, as this is where the left has taken us in their quest for a permanent supermajority.
i think it's quaint that folks like Ms. Phenix still believe what they do. it's like a child believing in Santa Claus. only not as innocent and harmless.
The Bulwark is a project of the Defending Democracy Together Institute (DDTI), so donations to the group benefit its parent nonprofit, DDTI.
Because Kristol formed DDTI in mid-2018, public tax returns are unavailable for DDTI as of early 2019. The left-wing William and Flora Hewlett Foundation reported making a contribution to DDTI in September 2018; the grant was paid to the Institute through DonorsTrust, a conservative donor-advised fund provider.[3]
The organization’s 501(c)(4) advocacy counterpart, Defending Democracy Together, has been criticized for accepting at least $600,000 in two grants from Democracy Fund Voice, a 501(c)(4) group created and funded by left-wing mega-donor Pierre Omidyar.[4] According to Democracy Fund Voice’s website, in May 2018 it “approved two grants to Defending Democracy Together: first in the amount of up to $100,000 over one year and then in the amount of up to $500,000 over one year,” with specific mention of DDT’s Republicans for the Rule of Law project.[5]

Explaining the GOP’s Electoral Vote Challenge
1:00 pm
Ben Jacobs: “It’s a banzai charge. The path to successfully contesting election results required a number of contingencies to come into place in several states. It hasn’t happened in a single one. State election officials have found consistent Biden victories in contested states and, as a result, state legislatures have declined to send competing slates of electors.
However, Trump has been undeterred by his legal team’s constant failures in courts of law (as well as frequent humiliations in the court of public opinion). At this point, the strategy of his legal team is far more Jim Jones than James Baker.
“But this has long left the realm of a legal fight. Instead, it’s a political battle governed by two facts. 1) Donald Trump refuses to acknowledge that he has lost the election, and 2) he has a sky-high approval rating with Republican voters. This means many Republican elected officials have either fully drunk the Kool-Aid… or just believe that their prospects for future electoral success rely on staying in Trump’s good graces.”

That is one piss-poor way of trying to conduct future politics, and it will not prevail.
Cruz Will Focus His Objection on Arizona Electors
12:33 pm
“Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) plans to formally object to the certification of electors from Arizona during Wednesday’s joint session of Congress, according to a person familiar with the matter, ensuring that the duly certified results from a third state will be challenged by a GOP senator,” the Washington Post reports.
Tim Scott Will Vote to Certify Biden’s Win
2:46 pm
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) will certify Joe Biden’s Electoral College win, refusing to join the growing number of Republicans planning to object to the process, Axios reports.

Might this mean even super red SC has had enough of this?
Jerry Moran Will Vote to Certify Biden’s Victory
2:49 pm
Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) writes in The Mercury that will vote to certify Joe Biden’s victory as the next president: “To vote to reject these state-certified electoral votes would be to act outside the bounds of the Constitution, which I will not do.”

Kamala Harris Recalls How As A Little Girl She Helped Slaves Escape On The Undewgwound Wailwoad
U.S.—Kamala Harris chuckles as she tells the story. Not the chuckle of an insincere politician making up a story to appeal to her base, but the chuckle of a warm, loving woman. The kind of chuckle you would chuckle while hanging out with your family or locking up non-violent drug offenders for decades.
She recalled in her interview with The Babylon Bee how as a little girl she helped slaves escape to the North on the "undewgwound wailwoad." (Did we mention how warm and sincere she was? It was like talking to your best bud).
"My parents were pushing me in a stroller," she says, cackling -- no, chuckling -- "and I must have gotten loose somehow." (At the time, there weren't any safety regulations on strollers, so this is not her parents' fault, just to be clear). "Anyway, I wandered away down to the Deep South and began helping slaves get to the free states. When my parents found me years later, they were understandably upset. They said, 'Kamala! What are you doing!?'"
She chuckled again.
"I replied, 'I'm hewping swaves escape on da undewground wailwoad, mommy!'" Harris then revealed that one of the slaves she helped escape grew up to be none other than Albert Einstein.
Harris, with her likable laugh and authentic demeanor, went on to tell the story of how she helped "Abwaham Winkon" draft the "Emancipation Pwocwamation" and how she refused to give up her seat on a bus, launching the "Civil wights" movement.
It’s Over
2:54 pm
Peter Nicholas visited the White House:
“On a day like this, you’d expect the West Wing to be teeming with people. Normally you’d see aides crowding the hallways, or reporters in a single-file line outside Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany’s doorway. The West Wing halls accessible to the press have a desultory vibe, more like a temp agency than the beating heart of the free world. As I wandered, a handful of aides worked at their desks and talked quietly among themselves. Not one wore a mask, befitting the COVID-19 denialism that has turned the complex into a breeding ground of infection.
“They’re caretakers for a White House that is shutting down. And for the most part, the people who work in the building know it. None of the advisers and aides I’ve spoken with over the past couple of weeks is under any illusion that Trump will serve a second term. They realize it’s over, though one aide, who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to talk more freely, told me that they’ve gotten no guidance from senior officials on what will happen come noon on January 20, when Trump’s term constitutionally ends.”
Pennsylvania Republicans Refuse to Seat Certified Winner
2:58 pm
“Setting the stage for a postelection showdown, Republicans who control the Pennsylvania Senate will refuse to seat a Democratic senator whose narrow win in November is being challenged in federal court, even as it has been certified by state officials,” the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
“Republican leaders confirmed Sen. Jim Brewster of Allegheny County will not be permitted to take the oath of office Tuesday when the legislature returns to launch a new two-year session.”
Pro-Trump Forums Erupt with Violent Threats
2:51 pm
“Far-right online forums are seething with references to potential violence and urging supporters of President Trump to bring guns to Wednesday’s protests in Washington — in violation of local laws — as Congress meets to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory,” the Washington Post reports.
“Many of the posts appear to be direct responses to Trump’s demands that his supporters pack the nation’s capital in support of his bogus claims that November’s national vote for Biden resulted from election fraud. Congress’s largely ceremonial role in confirming Biden’s victory has emerged as a catalyst for expected unrestthat has D.C. police and the National Guard deploying on city streets to quell potential trouble.”

Nebraska Won’t Vaccinate Undocumented Workers
4:10 pm
Republican Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts announced that undocumented workers at meatpacking plants will not be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
___________
I thought meat packers were considered essential workers engaged in dangerous activity because they have to stand in close proximity to each other.
stupid, stupid pederast. there's still a moratorium on open borders until 01/20. -
Ricketts’s remark came in response to a question if illegal immigrants employed at such facilities would be part of groups of workers getting inoculated under Nebraska’s vaccination program.
“Illegal immigrants are not permitted to work in those facilities, so I don’t think that will be a problem,” he said.
Then there was the time when Kamala was on a bus that had been rigged to blow up if it dropped below 55. True story.

President Donald Trump is urging Vice President Mike Pence to overturn to the election result when Congress meets to certify the Electoral College vote on January 6. But here's the thing: Pence doesn't have the authority to unilaterally overturn or object to the result. Trump has effectively set Pence up to be the fall guy for his election loss, as millions of the president's supporters reject President-elect Joe Biden's victory based on groundless assertions of mass voter fraud.Pence's political ambitions, including a potential 2024 run, could take a major hit from all of this. The vice president has been extraordinarily loyal to Trump, and, in return, the president is throwing Pence under the bus. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.
Vice President Mike Pence has been unflinchingly loyal to President Donald Trump throughout his tumultuous presidency — and Trump repaid Pence by throwing him under the bus with just two weeks left in office.
The president has in recent days falsely suggested that Pence can overturn the 2020 election results, saying at a rally in Georgia on Monday night, "I hope Mike Pence comes through for us, I have to tell you."
"Of course, if he doesn't come through, I won't like him quite as much," Trump added of his vice president.
He will do what he's elected to do.
Great Idea Pres. Biden.
Make it happen.
"President-elect Biden proposes to eliminate the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offet (GPO). These provisions reduce Social Security benefits for workers with significant government pensions from jobs not covered by Social Security and for their spouses and survivors."
A place I agree with him.
Pennsylvania Republicans Remove Lt. Governor
4:30 pm
“The new session of the Pennsylvania Senate got off to a chaotic start Tuesday, with Republicans refusing to seat a Democratic senator whose election victory has been certified by state officials,” the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
“Amid high emotions and partisan fingerpointing, Republicans also took the rare step of removing the Democratic lieutenant governor, John Fetterman, from presiding over the session. They apparently did so because they did not believe Fetterman was following the rules and recognizing their legislative motions.”
Greg Sargent: Another ugly GOP power play unfolds in Pennsylvania.
Trump Lawyer Resigns from Law Firm
5:36 pm
“Republican lawyer Cleta Mitchell, who advised President Trump during his Saturday phone call with Georgia’s secretary of state in an effort to overturn the election, resigned on Tuesday as a partner in the Washington office of the law firm Foley & Lardner,” the Washington Post reports.
“Mitchell’s resignation came after the law firm on Monday issued a statement saying it was ‘concerned by’ her role in the call.”
James , when did you last express an original thought here and not run from it?

YOU said I was "impoverished."
I invited you to tell my net worth. Why did you run from that?
Intelligence Agencies Confirm Russia Behind Hacking
5:01 pm
“The U.S. intelligence community stated Tuesday that Russia is ‘likely’ behind a major and ongoing series of cyberhacks of federal government agencies — its first official indication of blame,” the Washington Post reports.
“The breaches were so alarming that they had government and private-sector personnel working through the holidays, the task force said. That sense of urgency stands in contrast to Trump’s effort last month to downplay the significance of the breaches.”
Los Angeles Hospitals Turning Away Covid Patients
4:34 pm
Washington Post:
“Los Angeles County has been so overwhelmed it is running out of oxygen, with ambulance crews instructed to use oxygen only for their worst-case patients. Crews were told not bring patients to the hospital if they have little hope of survival and to treat and declare such patients dead on the scene to preserve hospital capacity.
“Several Los Angeles hospitals have turned away ambulance traffic in recent days because they can’t provide the air flow needed to treat patients.”
My suggestion pedo, your old sickly shouldn’t go to LA
Fuck off you spamming dumbass
But that’s not all that’s happening. A theater show is performative because the actors and the audience know it’s a performance. If a gun is hanging on the wall in a Chekhov play, we know two things: that it will go off by the end of the play, and that it must actually be a fake or unloaded gun, because it’s only a play. When a loaded gun is brought out in real life, the fact that the person holding it is incompetent or clownish doesn’t make that gun performative; it’s still a gun. When the president of the United States calls up electoral officials to threaten them, he’s leveling a loaded gun at our democracy.
