Now that impeachment is over, the retractions regarding Officer Sicknick are flooding in?

Interesting timing, huh? Seeing this (or something close) everywhere!

UPDATE: New information has emerged regarding the death of the Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick that questions the initial cause of his death provided by officials close to the Capitol Police.

Even today if you google the capital riot deaths, it will send you to stories that erroneously claim Sicknick was killed after suffering a hit to the head with a fire extinguisher. Many of those stories are older and will not provide any sort of disclaimer.  But it's clear that there was no "murder" here of any police officer. That has now been admitted by pretty much everyone other than the House impeachment squad.

As it stands, of the five deaths from the capital riot, only one now appears to be directly related to any of the actual rioting. That was the shooting of Ashli Babbitt by an unidentified capital police officer. Sicknick and two others died of heart complications. We know that Sicknick actually was fine, went home, and later suffered a stroke. The two other stroke/heart attacks were of unknown timing. The last death was considered a medical emergency that supposedly involved injuries sustained while collapsing during the march and being injured by other protesters (trampled).

Last time I checked, liberals are attempting to equate this event with 9/11 where approximately 3000 Americans were killed by terrorists. This is not only dishonest, but dangerous. On paper, the violence of this riot pales in comparison to many of the single riots we had over the summer, and contained a fraction of the violence and destruction as the summer riots as a whole.

So what, given the total lack of actual death and destruction, are liberals using to justify this? Apparently at this point we are looking at the concept of hypotheticals and the possible intentions of the craziest of those who were there. But short of the "what ifs" or "what might have happened" there really isn't anything there. More to the point, nearly every riot initiated by Antifa and BLM this summer included the intention of murdering police officers and blowing up federal buildings.

So are we now judging all riots by the worse intent of the worst of those involved, or are we just judging "this" one based on that?  That appears to be the question of he day.

Statement by the President Three Years After the Parkland Shooting

FEBRUARY 14, 2021 • STATEMENTS AND RELEASES

Three years ago today, a lone gunman took the lives of 14 students and three educators at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. In seconds, the lives of dozens of families, and the life of an American community, were changed forever.

For three years now, the Parkland families have spent birthdays and holidays without their loved ones. They’ve missed out on the experience of sending their children off to college or seeing them on their first job after high school. Like far too many families, they’ve had to bury pieces of their soul deep within the Earth. Like far too many families — and, indeed, like our nation — they’ve been left to wonder whether things would ever be okay.

These families are not alone. In big cities and small towns. In schools and shopping malls. In churches, mosques, synagogues, and temples. In movie theaters and concert halls. On city street corners that will never get a mention on the evening news. All across our nation, parents, spouses, children, siblings, and friends have known the pain of losing a loved one to gun violence. And in this season of so much loss, last year’s historic increase in homicides across America, including the gun violence disproportionately devastating Black and Brown individuals in our cities, has added to the number of empty seats at our kitchen tables. Today, as we mourn with the Parkland community, we mourn for all who have lost loved ones to gun violence.

Over these three years, the Parkland families have taught all of us something profound. Time and again, they have showed us how we can turn our grief into purpose – to march, organize, and build a strong, inclusive, and durable movement for change.

The Parkland students and so many other young people across the country who have experienced gun violence are carrying forward the history of the American journey. It is a history written by young people in each generation who challenged prevailing dogma to demand a simple truth: we can do better. And we will.

This Administration will not wait for the next mass shooting to heed that call. We will take action to end our epidemic of gun violence and make our schools and communities safer. Today, I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets. We owe it to all those we’ve lost and to all those left behind to grieve to make a change. The time to act is now.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday provided a roadmap for reopening schools during the ongoing pandemic but in Florida where campuses have welcomed students back since the beginning of the academic year, much of the precautious are already being utilized.

Reacting to the long-awaited CDC guidance, Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran released a statement saying Florida’s schools have been operating safely since August 2020 and will continue to do so.

“Since Summer 2020, Florida school districts, superintendents, public charter schools, private schools, educators, students and families have worked hard and have done an incredible job ensuring Florida students can continue to receive a world class education in-person, every day,” Corcoran’s statement read. “CDC guidance is informative, although Florida school districts, public charter schools and private schools should stay the course they began in Summer 2020. The science has been clear since August, and subsequent studies and data since then show that schools are safe to reopen.”

Sicknick died at home by a stroke.

We don't know if pre existing conditions caused the stroke. The stresses can cause physical problems in the brain. Look it up. Because we don't know a video yet, doesn't mean that he was not hit with a firextinguisher. The New York times, didn't publish the story to destroy the Orange Monster. They reported what they knew then.

You are a classic TDS infected person I have ever met.

You have spent the last five years, defending Trump on everything he said or did.

He has no blame for the demonstrations in regards to George Floyd. Just Antifa etc.

The insurrection didn't happen. It was a first amendment right event.

As we evolved, the people who lived in tribes survived in larger numbers. Our emotions were to trust the tribal leaders are built into our minds. That's why you behave.

For some reason you want to justify both events.

This the second time in when you claim that the two people who died during incidences, would have been dead anyhow by either drug overdose or a severe stroke.

The police officer in Minneapolis has been indicted for second degree murder.

In regards to Insurrection that even Mitch McConnell was caused by the President, your narcissistic behavior is getting worse every day. The 5 deaths, " who cares "

The most dangerous incident occurred on January 6th and again you don't care anymore because of your totalitarian beliefs that you agree with now, because he has gaslighted you.

(CNN)Investigators are struggling to build a federal murder case regarding fallen US Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, vexed by a lack of evidence that could prove someone caused his death as he defended the Capitol during last month's insurrection.

Authorities have reviewed video and photographs that show Sicknick engaging with rioters amid the siege but have yet to identify a moment in which he suffered his fatal injuries, law enforcement officials familiar with the matter said.

I thought Officer Sicknick said he had been pepper sprayed twice. Why wasn't that mentioned in Scott's thread article?

And isn't it possible that this contributed to his death?

And your "source" didn't mention that Sicknick must have said the fire extinguisher story was bullshit?

Or is it just an evolving FAKE NEWS story designed for cover for the fake "insurrection"

Only one murder occurred and the victim was a Trump supporter.

That would be the question of the day.

Over a month later... still no answers and the "press" is not interested...

There were reports of pepper spray being used by Antifa/BLM at numerous riots over the summer. I wonder why that was okay? Seems like things that were perfectly acceptable all summer long suddenly became a problem when the attacks were closer to home for politicians?

Perhaps had the universally condemned all of the rioting from the beginning (rather than demand that they were appropriate, justified, and setting up funds to bail them out of jail so they could riot some more) we would not have ever seen a Capital riot.

But it seems like rioting was the new "thing to do".

The Philadelphia-area home of Michael van der Veen, former President Trump’s impeachment lawyer, was vandalized amid Trump’s second impeachment trial last week.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, vandals broke windows and spray-painted “TRAITOR” on the driveway of his suburban Philadelphia home Friday night. The vandalism occurred while van der Veen was in Washington D.C. defending Trump during the former president’s second impeachment trial following the deadly Capitol insurrection last month. Van der Veen took to the Senate floor and argued that Trump’s second impeachment trial was “constitutional cancel culture.” Trump was acquitted by the Senate on Saturday.

ABC News reported that police said the vandalism occurred around 8 p.m. on Friday atl van der Veen’s suburban Philadelphia home. Detective Scott Pezick of the West Whiteland Township Police Department told ABC News on Sunday that no arrests have been made.

Pezick told ABC News that van der Veen has hired to protect the residence, and there has been increased police presence the Trump impeachment lawyer’s neighborhood. According to ABC News, Pezick said van der Veen’s wife reported the vandalism to police.

Pezick told ABC News that the graffiti was the only sign of vandalism officers found on the van der Veen’s property.

Trump and his acolytes have attempted to conflate hatred of the man’s actions and what he stands for with hatred of his voters. That is false. Some of his voters are wicked, and their words and deeds merit hatred. But many are deluded. Trump’s attempt to hide behind their skirts is yet another offense.

It is he who stirs the worst hatred—baseless hatred. He incites hatred of others based on lies—his opponents are child molesters, Muslim Americans danced in the streets after 9/11, immigrants are rapists and murderers, a landslide election victory was stolen. Those lies incite baseless hatred. They are evil. Shall we not hate these deceits and punish the deceiver?

The founding fathers, chafing under the malign thumb of Britain's monarchy, most definitely envisioned the potential for a Donald Trump. Alexander Hamilton pretty much nailed Trump in 1792: "When a man unprincipled in private life[,] desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper … despotic in his ordinary demeanour—known to have scoffed in private at the principles of liberty—when such a man is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity—to join in the cry of danger to liberty—to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government & bringing it under suspicion—to flatter and fall in with all the non sense of the zealots of the day—It may justly be suspected that his object is to throw things into confusion that he may 'ride the storm and direct the whirlwind.'"

Thus we have the tool of impeachment and the checks and balances of a legislative, executive, and judicial system. What the founders apparently didn't account for in their careful crafting of the three branches was a Mitch McConnell, a lawmaker so unprincipled that he would enter into a bargain with Trump to enhance his personal power at the expense of the whole Senate, and use that power to subvert the third branch—the judiciary. The reasonable "cooling saucer" of the Senate created to counterbalance the rabble in the House of Representatives wasn't supposed to become a tool of the corrupt, but here we are—and not for the first time. There's a throughline in all of American history for the fight against majority rule democracy: white supremacy. Every sustained backlash against progress has come from privileged whites. We saw its violent and very public resurgence in Trumpism, a storm Republicans have been happy to ride. There are myriad reforms the country has to undertake to beat that back down again, but it has to start now and in the Senate, with the filibuster.

It enables minority rule.
