In his chapel address, however, Cawthorn told it this way: “He was my brother, my best friend. And he leaves me in a car to die in a fiery tomb. He runs to safety deep in the woods and just leaves me in a burning car as the flames start to lick my legs and curl up and burn my left side. Fortunately, there was several bystanders who come by and they break the window open that they pulled me out to safety and they sat me down. The paramedics arrive and decided that I’m gone and I have no pulse, I have no breath. And I was, I was declared dead on the scene. For whatever reason, may it be adrenaline or divine intervention, I definitely believe it’s the latter, I had a deep inhale of breath."

Ledford said in an interview with The Post that he raced to save his friend’s life.

“That statement he made was false,” Ledford said. “It hurt very badly that he would say something as false as that. That is not at all what happened. I pulled him out of the car the second that I was able to get out of the car.”

Ledford said the two didn’t talk for a couple of years. He said pressure regarding insurance claims caused Cawthorn to say “crazy things.” Ledford said he has reconnected with Cawthorn, and “he told me that he didn’t believe those things anymore.”

In his deposition, Cawthorn did not say his friend left him for dead. Instead, he said, “I have no memory from the accident.” An accident report and other records from the Florida Highway Patrol say Cawthorn was incapacitated and in critical condition, not that he was declared dead.

He can't, because he took the Trump $1,800 payment and was looking forward the $2,000 Biden payment, now only $1,400 for him.

James asked me if my wife. and I have or will receive any of the payments.

No we will not, thankfully.

Bidennomics.

The Trump tax cuts of 2017 were packaged as a boon to the macroeconomy and taxpayers writ large—one that would, mirabile dictu, pay for itself. In reality, the Tax Policy Center estimates, two-thirds of the tax savings benefited the top 20 percent. Economic growth stalled; tax revenues plummeted—increasing the deficit, the Congressional Budget Office estimates, by $1.9 trillion over ten years.

By New Year’s 2020, the stamp of Reaganomics was inescapable. “The 1980s,” the Pew Research Center observed, “marked the beginning of a long and steady rise in income inequality”—which, between 1980 and 2016, had increased by roughly 20 percent. In 2018, the highest-earning 20 percent of families garnered 52 percent of all income; U.S. income inequality led all G7 nations; and the gap between whites and minorities was widening—as was that between the middle and upper income brackets.

Similarly, Pew found, “the wealth gap between America’s richest and poorer families more than doubled from 1989 to 2016. “As Warren Buffet noted, supply-side economics had oversupplied the overdogs: “There’s class warfare, all right . . . but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”

Then came COVID-19—whereupon, yet again, our government helpfully refrained from helping ordinary Americans. This homicide by neglect yielded 500,000 dead and rising—dwarfing our losses in two world wars, Vietnam, the Middle East or, on any given day, 9/11. Unsurprisingly, blacks and Hispanics are dying at higher rates than whites, reflecting the toll among those who suffer disparities in income, wealth, health care, and education.

The economic consequences are exceeded only by the Great Depression. Precipitous drops in employment and GDP, Brookings reported in September, disproportionately affected women, nonwhites, low-wage earners, the less educated, and poorer families with kids. Small businesses vanish; food insecurity rises; arrearages proliferate.

COVID-19, it transpires, does not have its own class system—it simply exacerbates ours. Trump’s indifference, polling shows, is why we hired Biden.

Americans want what he promised: active and effective governance. He is hastening the distribution of vaccines, and pushing a $1.9 trillion stimulus program to revive the economy.

His plan includes money to accelerate vaccination; increase testing; fortify healthcare; help schools reopen; rescue struggling businesses; fund cash-strapped states and cities; keep people in their homes, supplement unemployment benefits; hire public health workers; distribute $1,400 checks to embattled Americans; and transform the child tax credit into direct monthly payments. Urges Biden, “Now is the time to go big.”

Congressional Republicans oppose his plan, renewing their Obama-era plaints about stoking deficits and inflation while proposing their own stimulus bill one-third the size of Biden’s. Biden’s putative profligacy, they argue, ignores our improving economic prospects.

But the great majority of Americans support him. So do many GOP governors and mayors faced with the reality of massive layoffs of public employees, cuts in essential services, and the suffering of constituents too near to ignore. Reality not only bites—it’s swallowing forty years of Republican ideology whole.

President Biden has brought back bipartisan meetings at the White House that diminished under his predecessor, trying to find common ground with Republicans even as they remain far apart on issues related to the next round of coronavirus relief.

Biden’s first meeting with lawmakers in the Oval Office was with Republican senators on the coronavirus proposal and he has since met with bipartisan members of Congress on infrastructure and, later, supply chain issues. Biden’s outreach to Republicans has also extended beyond Capitol Hill to governors and local leaders as his administration grapples with the coronavirus and recent winter storms in southern states.

The meetings are another example of a return to more traditional governing under Biden and he is expected to make them a regular occurrence.

Sources: ‘Conversations’ Pelosi Had With Sgt At Arms About National Guard Presence Factored Into ‘Blender Of Decision Making’ That Led Up To Riot

In the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Former Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving recalled to House Admin how previous discussions with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her office factored in to his “blender of decision making,” according to three sources with direct knowledge of Irving’s talk with House Admin.

Pelosi’s office had previously impressed upon Irving that the National Guard was to remain off Capitol Grounds, Irving allegedly told House Admin. The discussions, which centered around “optics,” allegedly occurred in the months prior to the Jan. 6 riot, during a time when deployment of federal resources for civil unrest was unpopular with Democrats and many members of Congress.

The three sources who confirmed the discussion to the Daily Caller did so under the condition of anonymity, citing the fear of putting a chill on further witnesses to how the security situation unfolded Jan. 6. The discussion, if accurate, raises questions as to what role Pelosi’s office had in the security failures that resulted in the resignations of both Irving and former Chief of Capitol Police Steven Sund. Pelosi’s Deputy Chief of Staff Drew Hammill did not deny the allegations in a statement to the Daily Caller.

To answer the goat fuckers dumbest post for the final time What i have posted numerous times but the wantonly lazy and fucking stupid fucker can't get through his thick skull!!!!!

What's True
At several times in the lead-up to the Jan. 5, 2021, Georgia Senate runoff election, Biden, Ossoff, and Warnock promised that the latter's election would result in $2,000 per person stimulus checks. On Jan. 20, Biden unveiled a plan that included $1,400
checks. Biden's plan took longer to reveal than promised during the campaign, and has yet to be signed into law.
What's False
However, these promises were always made in the context of legislation blocked by the Senate in late December that attempted to raise the per person payment from $600 to $2,000. Because $600 checks were already being distributed by the time Biden and the others entered office, the addition of $1,400 would fulfill the campaign promise of $2,000 per person COVID-19 stimulus payments.

Good choice fatty a fact checker that checks satire

If your job is to make people laugh, what do you do when your brand of humor is classified as dangerous?

I run the Babylon Bee, a satirical website, and we’ve had to face that question a lot lately. The “fact checkers” at Snopes.com—once a reliable source for distinguishing reality from urban legends—have been smearing the Bee as “fake news.” They don’t seem to have a problem when we make fun of Trump-worship, conservatives, fundamentalism and megachurches. But when we target Democrats and the left, suddenly we’re branded liars.

The most recent controversy began when Snopes published a thorough “debunking” of our satirical take on Georgia state Rep. Erica Thomas’s false claim that a white man in a supermarket told her to “go back to where you came from.” Our humorous headline: “Georgia Lawmaker Claims Chick-fil-A Employee Told Her to Go Back to Her Country, Later Clarifies He Actually Said ‘My Pleasure.’ ”

Snopes knew this was a joke but questioned our “brand” of satire. The website called us “junk news” and a “ruse.” It accused us of intentionally “muddying the details” of a current event to “fool” people.

Trump will say, according to released excerpts: “I stand before you today to declare that the incredible journey we began together four years ago is far from over. We are gathered this afternoon to talk about the future — the future of our movement, the future of our party, and the future of our beloved country.”

According to USA Today, Trump will say Biden has had “the most disastrous first month of any president in modern history.”

AND CONTINUE QUIETLY SAVING OUR BELOVED NATION FROM A TRUMP STYLE DICTATORIAL FASCISTIC ATTEMPTED TAKEOVER

Once-secret reports show the FBI effort to spy on the Trump campaign was far wider than previously disclosed, as agents directed an undercover informant to make secret recordings, pressed for intelligence on numerous GOP figures, and sought to find "anyone in the Trump campaign" with ties to Russia who could acquire dirt "damaging to Hillary Clinton."

The now-declassified operational handling reports for FBI confidential human source Stefan Halper — codenamed "Mitch" — provide an unprecedented window both into the tactics used by the bureau to probe the Trump campaign and the wide dragnet that was cast to target numerous high-level officials inside the GOP campaign just weeks before Americans chose their next president in the November 2016 election.

Among the revelations, the memos make clear that:

Almost immediately after the FBI opened a Russia collusion probe on July 31, 2016 narrowly focused on the foreign lobbying of a single Trump campaign aide named George Papadopoulos, agents pressed Halper for information on more than a half dozen other figures, including future Attorney General Jeff Sessions, foreign policy adviser Sam Clovis, campaign chairman Paul Manafort, economic adviser Peter Navarro, future National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and campaign adviser Carter Page.
Halper provided significant exculpatory evidence to the FBI — including transcripts of conversations he recorded of targeted Trump advisers providing statements of innocence — that was never disclosed to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that approved a year of surveillance targeting the Trump campaign, and specifically Page.
While current FBI Director Chris Wray has insisted the bureau did not engage in spying on the Trump campaign, Halper's taskings include many of the tradecraft tactics of espionage, including the creation of a fake cover story (he wanted a job at the Trump campaign), secret recordings, providing background on targets, suggested questions to ask and even contact information for potential targets.
But the memos' most explosive revelations are the sheer breadth of the FBI's insufficiently predicated dragnet targeting the Trump campaign, and the agents' clearly stated purpose of thwarting any Trump campaign effort to get dirt from Russia that could hurt his Democratic rival.

"The Crossfire Hurricane investigative team is attempting to determine if anyone in the Trump campaign is in a position to have received information either directly or indirectly from the Russian Federation regarding the anonymous release of information during the campaign that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton," one of the early FBI electronic communications (ECs) from Halper's undercover work stated.

The CPAC “Star Wars Bar”

There was a time when CPAC was generally regarded in elite conservative and Republican circles as merely a circus, a Star Trek convention, a freak show, even. The undercurrent of these comments and discussions was that while CPAC might be a cross-section of the weird edges of the conservative activist set it didn’t truly represent the seriousness and sobriety of the broader movement.

And so establishment RINOs like me would go for the spectacle and to network with conservative influencers who had travelled to DC for the event. Staffers from Conservatism Inc. would trudge down to the Marriott to hawk their wares and promote their email lists. The mainstream media would flock to the nuttiest looking guy in a tri-corner hat and take the ample opportunities that the speakers provided to make conservatives look crazy.

For readers who have never had the pleasure of attending, let me paint you a little impressionistic picture of the archetypes we saw back then:

Reagan-era holdover in a bad suit speckled with dandruff regaling uninterested young reporters about the old days.

Grover Norquist wannabe who can cite chapter and verse from God and Man at Yale and wants to tell you about his recent Washington Times op-ed.

Pimply, awkward college Republican boys who are often keeping either their sexuality or fascist sympathies (or both) in the closet. They fancy themselves either the next Fred Barnes or Karl Rove. Or, in recent years, the next Charlie Kirk.

Nerdy postgraduates carrying their resumés around in a briefcase, treating CPAC like a job fair.

Pretty, blonde college girls quickly finding out that the boys on the trip with them are either virgins or frequenting Craigslist M4M.

Late twenties, mid-level congressional aide/ blogger/ PR flack who only shows up for the happy hours and then get a little creepy with the blonde College Republican gals.

Doe-eyed youth on a church group trip to DC wearing pro-life and/or anti-gay flair.

Older women who sit through every single panel during their one week hiatus from the Topeka phone bank they started organizing after first getting inspired by the Eagle Forum.

Guys in Revolutionary War garb.

Up-and-coming young “content creators” with their pajama boy cameraman.

Down-and-going comedians who used to be the dinner entertainment on the National Review cruise. (“Did you know that when Obama got elected they changed the name to Ear Force One?” Buh-dum-bum.)

Upper-middle-class Republican activists who are active blog commenters and have just enough money to blow on a vacation to DC because they hope they might meet Ed Morrissey.

Dance-offs between Flat Tax Guy and Fair Tax Guy.

Dave Weigel.

Put it all together and you can see why there was a general sense that this was the GOP’s Creature Cantina.

But in retrospect I think us snooty establishment types had it wrong.

CPAC doesn't represent the conservative base because the real Republican voters out there were more normal and serious suit-and-tie types.

Scott asshole used to be one of them.

Juan Ordoñez, 40, of North Arlington, N.J., died on April 11, 2020, after becoming ill with COVID-19. He’s among the more than 500,000 Americans who have lost their lives to the disease since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic early last year.

Ordoñez was born in Lima, Peru, and immigrated to the U.S. at a young age. His wife, Diana Ordoñez, says he was “a prime example of the American Dream.” He faced many struggles when he arrived in America, including having to learn a new language and being away from his family. But, she says, “he still recognized that he had opportunities to grow and learn and be better as long as he worked hard.”

Ordoñez’s greatest passion, his wife says, was computers. He was an information security analyst at UPS and had just been promoted at the time he became sick with COVID-19.

Another passion, which he shared with his wife and 5-year old daughter, Mia, was traveling. Their first trip as a family was to the ancient Incan ruins of Machu Picchu, in Peru. Juan had told Diana the place was very special to him, and she plans to return there as a way to honor his memory.

“It's gonna be a while probably before I can get there, but it'll be important for me to lay him to rest where he said he wanted to be, so that's on my list. It’s also a way to maybe bring closure. It's hard to get closure during everything that's going on,” she said.

Ordoñez contracted the virus in early March 2020, before lockdowns were put in place and when relatively little was known about the virus. The former knew on February 7th. His wife said that, at the time, he was spending a lot of time in cafes studying for a IT certification exam, and that’s probably how he got infected.

Like many COVID-19 victims, Ordoñez experienced shortness of breath and was hospitalized and put on a ventilator. He died after battling the disease for three weeks.

Life without Juan has been difficult and painful for his wife and daughter. But Diana says that telling his story brings her and her little one some comfort.

“Any chance that I’ve gotten to share his story, I've done it. And she loves to see when Daddy's on TV or on Daddy's in the paper,” she says. “I just want him to be remembered and for people to know him, and to know that our lives are short, and we should live every day. … He can't wake up today, and you can, and that's a privilege.”

Just another dead beaner per rrb

The Supreme Court decision may end gerrymandering based upon race or voting turnout and against Trump's claim that he won in a landslide.

Eight years after carving the heart out of a landmark voting rights law, the Supreme Court is looking at putting new limits on efforts to combat racial discrimination in voting.

The justices are taking up a case about Arizona restrictions on ballot collection and another policy that penalizes voters who cast ballots in the wrong precinct.

The high court's consideration comes as Republican officials in the state and around the country have proposed more than 150 measures, following last year’s election s, to restrict voting access that civil rights groups say would disproportionately affect Black and Hispanic voters.

A broad Supreme Court ruling would make it harder to fight those efforts in court. Arguments are set for Tuesday via telephone, because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It would be taking away one of the big tools, in fact, the main tool we have left now, to protect voters against racial discrimination,” said Myrna Perez, director of the Brennan Center for Justice’s voting rights and election s program.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, a Republican, said the high court case is about ballot integrity, not discrimination. “This is about protecting the franchise, not disenfranchising anyone,” said Brnovich, who will argue the case on Tuesday.

President Joe Biden narrowly won Arizona last year, and since 2018, the state has elected two Democratic senators.

The justices will be reviewing an appeals court ruling against a 2016 Arizona law that limits who can return early ballots for another person and against a separate state policy of discarding ballots if a voter goes to the wrong precinct.

Anthony Fauci responded to criticism from South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem on Sunday, after the Republican state leader suggested that her approach to COVID-19 mitigation was effective despite its obvious departures from the expert’s advice.

During an appearance on CBS News’ Face the Nation, Fauci encouraged Noem to “take a look at the numbers,” as South Dakota records some of the most significant increases in COVID-19 cases and deaths per capita in the country.

As longstanding director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Fauci is an experienced public health specialist who helped guide the U.S. through COVID-19 mitigation as a leading member of Donald Trump‘s Coronavirus Task Force. He now serves as chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden.

“You know, it’s unfortunate…it is not really helpful,” he told moderator Margaret Brennan, referencing Noem’s remarks during a speech at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday, when she claimed that Fauci is “wrong a lot” during a speech that earned her a standing ovation.

“Because sometimes you think things are going well, and just take a look at the numbers. They don’t lie,” Fauci continued. “We see, Margaret, what happens when you pull back prematurely. Now, you’re going to have individual instances of situations where people may not have, and didn’t see a rebound right away. But you’ve really got to be careful, particularly now that we have variants in this country that seem to spread more efficiently and maybe even are more dangerous with regard to pathogenicity.”

Noem’s lenient approach to COVID-19 mitigation has been criticized throughout the pandemic. Unlike other states where leaders implemented mask mandates and restricted business operations in efforts to curb transmission, the Republican governor declined to effect orders stipulating public use of face coverings and largely shied away from regulating business activity.

“We never focused on the case numbers. Instead, we kept our eye on hospital capacity,” said Noem during Saturday’s speech at CPAC. “Now Dr. Fauci, he told me that on my worst day, I’d have 10,000 patients in the hospital. On our worst day, we had a little over 600. Now, I don’t know if you agree with me, but Dr. Fauci is wrong a lot.”

Data recently updated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that South Dakota recorded the country’s eighth-highest number of COVID-19 deaths per capita over the past seven days, behind New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Arizona and Connecticut. Its seven-day increase in confirmed cases, per 100,000 residents, came second only to North Dakota, which reported fewer fatalities last week as it has, overall, throughout the pandemic.

Fauci acknowledged that COVID-19 numbers are declining across the country at the end of February, following a marked surge around the holiday season. However, he stressed that continued compliance with safety measures is necessary to further the downward trend, especially given the emergence of variant strains.

“Go back and look, historically, at what happened when we tried to open up the economy and open up the country,” he said. “And we saw a variable degree of adherence to the public health measures by different governors and different mayors. And what did happen? [The curve] went like this and then went right back up when we had yet again another surge.”

Noem defended her stance on COVID-19 mitigation, which calls on residents to exercise personal responsibility rather than abide by state mandates, during a later appearance on Face the Nation Sunday.
