Remember Clinton Cash? Uranium for donations, etc... etc...
Maybe he has a point? Certainly there is more actual "evidence' of collusion between the Clintons and the Russians than there is between Trump and the Russians. For the former there is actually evidence of things like money exchanging hands, and actual favorable state action for the Uranium deal. For the latter, there is really nothing more than unfounded conspiracy theories.

An interview with the President who repeated the anti-science campaign, but the interview is scary as hell.
When Donald Trump met Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany earlier this month, he put on one of his most truculent and ignorant performances. He wanted money—piles of it—for Germany's defense, raged about the financial killing China was making from last year's Paris climate accord and kept "frequently and brutally changing the subject when not interested, which was the case with the European Union."
…Trump's preparedness was roughly that of a fourth grader…Trump knew nothing of the proposed European-American deal known as the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, little about Russian aggression in Ukraine or the Minsk agreements, and was so scatterbrained that German officials concluded that the president's daughter Ivanka, who had no formal reason to be there, was the more prepared and helpful.
Merkel is not one to fuss. But Trump's behavior appalled her entourage and reinforced a conclusion already reached about this presidency in several European capitals: It is possible to do business with Trump's national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, with Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, and with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, but these officials are flying blind because above them at the White House rages a whirlwind of incompetence and ignorance.

.https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2015/04/27/back-to-basic-facts-in-latest-hillary-clinton-scandal-story/ Pretty pathetic defense if you ask me.
The article cited as "evidence on Clinton's side" the fact that she couldn't guarantee the deal unilaterally. In the first place, that isn't evidence. In the second place, it's irrelevant as far as quid pro quo goes. Poor thinking, or grasping at straws.
"Why does Trump need to shift the focus to the Clintons? What is it he needs to hide? If there was no need to cover up anything, then he should be welcoming the investigation."
Because he isn't very bright, Indy. And he's a dick. My question is, if that's really a concern of his, why doesn't he do something about it instead of whining on Twitter? It's not as if the President of the USA is powerless.
I thought about the USS, but didn't check.
The President has a lot of denial on science.
TRUMP HOAX
Trump has raised the hackles of many environmentalists since taking office. He has overturned several Obama-era environmental regulations, and last week he proposed slashing the Environmental Protection Agency budget by 31 percent.
During his presidential campaign Trump called climate change a "hoax" and vowed to pull the United States out of the Paris accord, a global pact to fight it – tapping into a well of Republican concern that the United States' energy habits would be policed by the United Nations.
But Republican bias against climate science is out of step with the majority of Americans. A Reuters/Ipsos poll shows a majority of Republican supporters agree the United States should play a leading role in combating climate change.
"It shouldn't surprise anyone that more and more Republicans are interested in this issue," said Republican Representative Carlos Curbelo of Florida. "This issue was regrettably politicized some 20 or so years ago, and we are in the process of taking some of the politics out."
THE WHITE HOUSE
On Feb. 8, representatives from a newly formed group of Republican statesmen, the Climate Leadership Council, including former Treasury secretaries Henry Paulson and James A. Baker, met with senior administration officials to push a carbon tax.
"We got a very respectful hearing," said the council's CEO, Ted Halstead. "We've also been meeting with Republicans on the Hill and have found open minds."
The White House did not comment on the meetings.
Billionaire Republican donor and environmental advocate Andy Sabin, meanwhile, said he has been speaking directly with White House officials in hope of becoming Trump's unpaid climate change adviser – modeled on the role of fellow billionaire Carl Icahn in advising Trump on regulation.
Focusing on health concerns would be the most effective way to get Trump to try to slow climate change, said Sabin, a precious metals magnate.
When asked about the chances of Sabin getting the position, a White House spokeswoman said, "We don't have an announcement at this time."
SNO BALLED
Republican Senator James Inhofe incurred public ridicule two years ago after marching into the Capitol Building with a snowball, claiming the cold weather disproved Obama's climate change claims.
This year, republicEn used the incident as part of a humorous rallying call on Valentine's Day. Volunteers delivered greeting cards to lawmakers quoting Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, in his former role as chief executive officer of Exxon, declaring climate change to be a serious risk warranting "thoughtful

only to his critics, who would've declared failure had he discovered a cure for cancer.
to his supporters, those who voted for him, he's actually doing quite well:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — While pundits breathlessly reported this week that President Trump’s Gallup approval rating has plummeted to a historic low (dipping to 37 points), not all approval ratings are created equal.
Because in American politics, geography is everything.
Live in an urban, minority or college setting, and Donald J. Trump is underwater in the polls in a big way; he gets a frosty 29 percent approval rating in the cities, 35 percent approval in the urban suburbs, in the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal survey.
But, live in the second ring of suburbs outside the cities, or the exurbs or the third and fourth rings that comprise rural America, and the president gets a 53 percent to 59 percent job approval rating in the same poll.
For the most part, the people who live in those regions are pretty much happy with him.
That’s a puzzling notion that has befuddled many journalists, members of the permanent establishment and pundits on both sides of the aisle since the day Trump was inaugurated.
And, in all likelihood, that effervescent support will continue for a very long time. Why? Because the people who live in those outer rings of cities aren’t just separated by geography; they’re separated by culture, traditions and aspirations that differ from those of their city cousins.
They also are so tired of being ridiculed by the political class over the notion they’re digging in for Trump, more so than they normally would. Especially when they read (yes, they do read) columns in New York Magazine by former theater critic Frank Rich who takes a deep swipe at Trump’s base, writing: “While you can’t blame our new president for loving ‘the poorly educated’ who gave him that blank check, the rest of us are entitled to abstain. If we are free to loathe Trump, we are free to loathe his most loyal voters, who have put the rest of us at risk.”

For years, the Obama administration prodded, cajoled and beseeched China to make commitments to limit the use of fossil fuels to try to slow the global effects of climate change.
President Obama and other American officials saw the pledges from both Beijing and Washington as crucial: China is the largest emitter of greenhouse gases, followed by the United States.
In the coming years, the opposite dynamic is poised to play out. President Trump’s signing of an executive order on Tuesday aimed at undoing many of the Obama administration’s climate change policies flips the roles of the two powers.
Now, it is far likelier that the world will see China pushing the United States to meet its commitments and try to live up to the letter and spirit of the 2015 Paris Agreement, even if Mr. Trump has signaled he has no intention of doing so.

The first lady intends to stay in New York until the couple's 11-year-old son Barron finishes the school year in June.
"The US taxpayer is paying an exorbitant amount of money to protect the First Lady in Trump Tower, located in New York City," the petition states. "As to help relieve the national debt, this expense yields no positive results for the nation and should be cut from being funded."
If the Change.org petition reaches its goal of 150,000 signatures, it will be delivered to US Senators Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

According to the New York Times, the New York Police Department (NYPD) has estimated it costs between $127,000 (£101,942) and $146,000 a day to provide protection for Melania and Barron Trump when the president is not in town.
That is further estimated to rise to $308,000 (£247,230) a day when the president is in New York—however, The Independent noted that Trump has not returned since his inauguration.
The NYPD revealed the cost to protect Trump and his family between the election and Inauguration Day reached $24m. Comments from petitioners revealed the frustrations many taxpayers have about having to pay for the Trump's security outside of Washington DC.
"This is an exorbitant expense that the United States government can not afford. Donald Trump is trying to cut all kinds of social programmes for those who are less fortunate, & yet he is allowing the government to pay millions of dollars for security for 2 people, just because they don't want to move to the White House," wrote Becky Olson-Kellogg of Minnesota. "If that is their decision, then they should be paying privately for the security — not the American taxpayers!!"

LOS ANGELES — California prosecutors on Tuesday charged two anti-abortion activists who made undercover videos of themselves trying to buy fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood with 15 felonies, saying they invaded the privacy of medical providers by filming without consent.
The charges against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress come eight months after similar charges were dropped in Texas.
State Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a longtime Congressional Democrat who took over the investigation in January, said in a statement that the state “will not tolerate the criminal recording of conversations.”
Coal is deader than your fat ass.....goat farmer..
Trump’s move to support coal mining is unlikely to turn around the industry immediately.
Experts say coal’s biggest problem isn’t a shortage of the fuel to dig or even climate change regulations but cheap and abundant natural gas. Gas prices dropped as advances in drilling such as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, greatly increased the amount of gas on the market. For many utilities, that’s made gas a more attractive fuel than coal.
U.S. coal production fell to 739 million tons last year, the lowest level in almost four decades. From 2011 through 2016, the coal mining industry lost about 60,000 jobs, leaving just over 77,000 miners, according to preliminary Labor Department data that excludes mine office workers.

In 2015, the United States generated about 4 trillion kilowatthours of electricity.1 About 67% of the electricity generated was from fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and petroleum).
Major energy sources and percent share of total U.S. electricity generation in 2015:1
• Coal = 33%

That Crashing Sound Is The Fall Of The U.S. Coal Industry
Katie Fehrenbacher
Jan 15, 2016
The U.S. coal industry is having one of its most difficult years in decades as it faces a long, slow decline.
After years of coal plant closures, lost coal jobs, and the rise of cleaner forms of electricity like natural gas, Interior Secretary Sally Jewell announced on Friday that the government has put a freeze on issuing new leases for coal mining on public lands.
During the moratorium, the government plans to review how the coal mining leases are awarded and could potentially make the leases more expensive for coal mining companies. More expensive leases would both help offset the environmental damage from coal mining and power production and also bring in more royalties for the government.
The announcement is a yet another major blow to the U.S. coal industry. While coal will continue to provide the U.S. with power for many decades, it's era as the dominant power source could be waning.
The federal government manages leases for coal mining on 570 million acres of land, and a big portion of that is in Wyoming. About 40% of U.S. coal production comes from federal land.
A Government Accountability Office report in 2014 found that the federal government was missing out on $1 billion annually because of undervalued coal leases for big coal companies. For years, environmentalists have complained about these outdated leasing policies that were created decades ago.
Opie, thanks for the Denver Post link. It was a nice read.
Opie, I really don't understand how you got so confused on the issue and my position on the use of US Coal and our exports of it.
You seem to want to see things that are not there. So let me clear it up, coal is but one part of the over all US First Energy Policy of this President.
Okie, I really don't understand how you got so confused on the issue and my position on the use of US Coal and our exports of it.
Let me explain again....yer an abject idiot!!! Coal is as dead as your brain!!! And trump is impotent as you are
Exporting our coal is a very good thing for the Trade to other nations.
I , Like President Trump see that we need to balance trade, we can not continue to expect food exports to continue to be the one plus in trade balance sheet that carries the others.
Liquid gas exports to or buddies in the EU would hurt Russia, Trump as I , am all for that as well.
Trump wants to build more Nuke plants, are you for that Opie?
. In 2015, the United States consumed nearly 802 million short tons of coal. The United States imported about 11 million short tons of coal in 2015"
That to me makes no sense, we have all the coal we need her in the USA.
Importing any is working against our best interests, this is what President Trump is going to, over the long haul correct.
Is coal "the answer" , well that is a strawman , no one ever said it was, it is part of the answer to getting us to Energy Independence.
What would really help IF all the Earth First true believers would stop using so much gas, oil, coal and go off grid.
Anonymous KD, Again Opie, you need to relax said...
Exporting our coal is a very good thing for the Trade to other nations.
No it's not....very little labor involved, just massive amounts of pollution for the world to absorb. No significant dent to the trade deficit at all. Wishful thinking is all you got.

Coal is probably going to prove as problematic for Trump as the nightmare complexities of tax reform will prove to be.
Washington Post: “Trump is about two weeks away from discovering how complicated tax reform can be.”
Who would have thought all these things could be so complicated -- healthcare reform, getting jobs for the declining coal industry, and tax reform?
It's only complicated because too many special interest are invested in the status quo.
And that's not who elected Trump and I suspect the Republican congress.
Coal is probably going to prove as problematic for Trump

Bill Nye put Donald Trump’s false statement that coal is “clean energy” to bed. “Clean coal is a myth,” said Nye, and went on to destroy the fallacy.
Donald Trump has decided to continue repeating his claim that coal is “clean energy.” He has also claimed that his recent executive order would bring back jobs, expounding on how doing so would be a celebration of American production on American soil. If this is a celebration of Americans for America, then the prosperity that Trump is claiming will follow will benefit the American people, right?
Related: WATCH: Bill Nye Drops A Bucket Full Of Cold Hard Science All Over Religious Conservatives (Video)
Nye pointed out that the only people who will benefit from it are, once again, a few super rich people. Coal magnates, actually, are the ones who will benefit. The men and women made embarrassingly wealthy by the gutting of the planet for fuel will get to continue profiting at the expense of our planet. What a thing to “celebrate.”
Bill Nye isn’t telling us anything that we don’t already know about climate change, we are pumping ancient CO2, locked into coal deposits, back into the atmosphere at a breakneck pace. This hurts our environment. It is really that simple.
From a Scientific standpoint, there is nothing worse than burning coal. This is the worst thing, well, maybe – maybe the tar sands in Alberta [are the worst], but there’s very few things worse than coal [for our environment] and we need to stop right away.
Coal is not only antiquated, the idea that it is “clean” is a myth. There is nothing “clean” about it. There are better options, renewable options, that are far better for this planet, trying to force coal to remain a viable industry so that very rich people can get a little richer before they admit that their archaic and harmful product should be replaced, is wrong. Those jobs Trump touts are not going to last, if they materialize at all, and that is if the EO survives the inevitable storm of lawsuits sure to crop up against it.

so does my imbecile governor.
It’s no secret that Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s efforts to boost the upstate economy haven’t panned out, but a new investigation this week documents just what a spectacular failure they’ve been.
The series, by Investigative Post, ProPublica and the Columbia School of Journalism, notes that since 2010, Cuomo by his own reckoning has dropped a whopping $25 billion to restart the upstate economy — but with pathetically little to show for it.
While jobs have grown 11 percent nationally since 2010, and 13 percent in all New York, upstate jobs grew just 2.7 percent, worse than in all but three states.
In some areas, jobs contracted: down 3.5 percent in Binghamton, for example, and 5.2 percent in Elmira. Worse, nine out of 10 new upstate jobs are in “low-wage sectors.”
This from billions spent on programs that, the investigation found, suffer from “a lack of transparency and objective analysis to determine their effectiveness.”
The spending takes the form of cash grants, tax breaks, electric discounts and even direct investment in factory buildings.
Ironically, Cuomo boasts of his programs’ “successes,” especially in the billion-plus he’s spent in Buffalo so far. Oops: Jobs there grew just 4.7 percent on his watch — while his outlays spawned corruption that led to several high-profile indictments.
Cuomo can’t blame anyone but himself. His policies weren’t “the right policies,” says fiscal expert E.J. McMahon. Indeed, some (his fracking ban, higher minimum wages, mandatory paid family leave and tax hikes on the rich) have served to stunt job growth.
Which has spawned an exodus. Last year’s net outflow of residents upstate actually topped the increase downstate, leading to the state’s first population decline in a decade.
Your tax dollars at work.

Click OH in case you missed this, this is one of the failed Kennedy kids attempting to explain why his use of every energy sucking tool know not man is ok and your use is killing Mother Earth.
Regarding Coal, it has exactly two things going for it: cheap, and plentiful. Inexpensive power helps all of us a little in the short term, but whoever said that it primarily benefits the super-rich few who profit from it was right. The choice to facilitate the burning of coal for power is political, and pandering, and doesn't make sense from any other perspective.
Of course it's not "clean energy"; we don't need the Science Guy to inform us of that. It takes blinders constructed of willful ignorance to assert otherwise. OUR coal plants are a lot cleaner than in the past, cleaner by far than what China is using, but that's only because of the EPA oversight which is so despised now by our party in power. It also puts that "cheaper energy" in question, because the external costs of that much damage are far greater than the savings over the alternatives (ie, everyone loses but those aforementioned super-rich). And the only way that it can be made clean enough for rational people to accept is expensive, costly enough to even out that cost advantage. Given this President's short record, when the other shoe drops it will be a relaxing of those standards. The reasoning will be: after all, China does it so why should we bear the cost?
Taking the nastiest method of power generation, and making it even worse so that out industries will have a short term boost in slightly lower operating costs, and to further enrich a few (hey, cut their taxes while we're at it) will be a perfect storm of stupidity. And therefore, quite likely IMO.

Yeh it IS stupid, the nuclear plant's expensive part already covered and being relatively cheap to operate. Starting the US on the anti-nuclear path, emphasizing Coal as the fuel of choice for the foreseeable future, I blame Jimmy Carter for that. It made some small sense then, because anti-proliferation, but that ship has long since sailed. And sunk.
Well, we need coal and I don't give a damn who doesn't like it.

ETTE, we are getting big thunderstorms with heavy wind and rain. IF we lived in CAexit, we would be in terror and be calling Trump to save us, but, since we don't and we are not nanny sissy's. It is just more rain that we need to make grain and grow pastures/hay.
Raining here too. It's been a great week....just enough sun for our passive solar and my greenhouse
Still too early to do my planting - but I'm ready.
same here, I have a 10 foot wide, by 12 foot long and at the peak of the roof it is 9 feet high, greenhouse, I have a lot of cold/cool weather plants growing, like peas and radishes and turnips. Had my first asapargus shoots, omg good, they never make it to the house this time of year, with my wife loving them as she does. I have been collecting rain (it is legal in KS, some states it is not) and run it by hose to the animals and green house.
The basement and my den have plants under grow lights or in the south west window of my den, I love watching the Tomato, bell peppers and yellow peppers growing.
I do have some cold weather plants growing in my garden and my over wintered garlic looks great, potatoes are all in, only 150 feet of them this year planted.
Keep being independent and green, unlike the leftist that only talk about it.
Bill Nye isn’t telling us anything that we don’t already know about climate change
This is the same Bill Nye who got exposed as a total idiot on global warming by Tucker Carlson.
We collect rainwater too. Mr S built the cisterns. We have two buried in the front yard, so the city leaves us alone.
The ones in the backyard don't look like water collection barrels, so the city leaves us alone. Perfect for topping off the pool mid- summer.

Not to be a cynic (OK I'm a little bit cynical), if say I wanted to Democrats to own any Obamacare failure in the future, I'd invite them to a bipartisan photo op on healthcare knowing they will oppose any attempt to reform the healthcare law.
Then if the reform efforts fail, I simply blame the Democrats for their failure to cooperate.
"Then if the reform efforts fail, I simply blame the Democrats for their failure to cooperate."
Exactly.
Let them own this damn disaster to its grave.
Burn it down.
I watched the entire press briefing. They made me feel that there were two grown ups who were going o find out what they find, to wherever is goes. Congress Numen was obvious, in that he had discussed the investigation and taking orders from the Trump administration. The Trump administration has tried at every opportunity, to divert attention away from possible collaboration between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.
The reactions on twitter tonight, if he posts some comments, the odds are they will not be collaboration in the investigations. We don't know if there was such collaboration took place, but the resistance by the Trump White House can make on wonder why are they so upset if they didn't work with the Russian government in influencing the outcome of the election. Since the Russians, not that Trump agrees, that they are adversaries of the United States. Trump made it clear in his interview with Bill O'Reilly where he said that the United States had political murders also. Not in such words, but the meaning was obvious.
This "FAKE NEWS" source, the Washington Poste, that took down Richard Nison in work by Woodward and Bernstien. provided a fair and balanced report below.
The two leaders stood side by side to update reporters about their investigation in a rare joint news conference Wednesday on Capitol Hill, called just as the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation appeared to be grinding to a halt.
Burr and Warner refused to comment on the political discord that has stymied the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation since its chairman, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), went to the White House grounds last week without telling his committee colleagues to meet with a secret source. He said he viewed documents that may show that President Trump or members of his transition team were improperly identified in reports regarding surveillance of foreign targets.
Democrats have accused Nunes of coordinating with the White House to distract attention from the investigation into potential ties between the Trump team and Russian officials, and they called for him to recuse himself from the Russia investigation or step down.
“We’re not asking the House to play any role in our investigation. We don’t plan to play any role in their investigation,” Burr said.
[Trump administration sought to block Sally Yates from testifying to Congress on Russia]
While much of the House Intelligence Committee’s political infighting has taken place in public, the Senate so far has conducted the entirety of its Russia investigation behind closed doors — except for a public hearing in January with FBI Director James B. Comey, National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers, then-Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr. and then-CIA Director John Brennan.
But the main difference between the House and Senate processes lies in how united the two Senate leaders are.
President Trump constantly acts in reactions to this story, like he's got something to hide. I would like to know what the President knew, and when he knew it. He is our President and he owes that to us. He won't, and some people I won't mention here, will agree with me. But if you want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, deserve to get it as Americans.

Coal is a dying industry.....as I said, coal is the most inefficient way to generate power......form WaPo Jobs will not be created by the kings edict as he promised. I'm sure the miners of WV and Pa will eventually figure that out and smarten up, unlike the apologists here. Idiots
The economics became irresistible. Burning clean natural gas in highly efficient gas turbines (which can convert 60 percent of fuel’s energy, compared with 40 percent in the best coal-fired stations) became the most obvious choice. Secondarily, falling costs of wind turbines and solar panels made these new renewables more affordable in windy and sunny locations.
The result has been dramatic: In 2016, 30 percent of U.S. electricity came from coal (a reduction of more than 40 percent in 15 years), 34 percent originated from natural gas, and more than 6 percent came from wind and solar. Coal might not have fallen so quickly had electricity demand kept growing, but since 2010, consumption has been either flat or slightly declining.
The other formerly large coal market is almost gone: More than 90 percent of China’s steel production starts with iron produced in blast furnaces fueled with coke, but two-thirds of America’s declining domestic steel production now comes from recycled metal melted in electric arc furnaces. As a result, coking coal’s share in America’s overall coal use has fallen below 3 percent.
And while the United States is still a net coal exporter, foreign sales declined by nearly 60 percent between 2014 and 2016. International coal prices have been falling as well. So where would additional coal go in a country with stagnating electricity generation that is now dominated by natural gas, with marginal need for coking coal and with plummeting exports in a softening global market?

Coal is dying, nope, but continue to repeat that lie to yourself as you use coal generated electricity.
China and NK and other nations are on one hell of a build of those plants, we, the USA will export more of two types of coal to them, bringing more money to the USA. Helping the trade imbalance and creating wealth for Americans. Sure jobs come with that wealth.
More than 1200 new coal plants are coming on line in the next 3 years as the build up continues, as a good businessman, President Trump is building supply to those plants around the world.
Opie is it that Trump has the US Economy as priority ONE that has you pissed or is it that the next 8 years are going to be great for the USA and wealth creators?
