Mattis: Coldheart's right!

“Right now, if I say ‘six’ and the president says ‘half a dozen,’ they’re going to
say I disagree with him, so let’s just get over that. If that’s the story that some
people want to write, then they’ll find the way, they’ll sort out something.”

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Thursday pushed back hard against reports that he is out of step with President Donald Trump — particularly on how to deal with North Korea — but also made clear his view that the commander-in-chief can be swayed to change his approach by a strong argument.

“Literally, I’m using the president’s thoughts, and they thought that I was distancing from the president. So I mean, it shows how ludicrous this really is,” Mattis said. “I’m not trying to make fun of the people who write along these lines, but I literally can take the president’s themes and use them and I’m still seen as at odds with the president.”

Many reports also asserted that Mattis was bucking the president’s order on the transgender ban by allowing currently serving troops to stay in uniform during the review period. The order, however, granted Mattis that authority and six months to iron out an implementation plan.

When Mattis announced his transgender policy review, some observers suggested he was delaying the president’s order. But he said Thursday the president would not have given him time to look closely at the issue if he didn’t want Mattis to actually examine it. politico.mattis-trump

11 governors release statement rejecting Obamacare repeal and calling for bipartisan action

A bipartisan group of governors released a statement on Tuesday rejecting President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers' calls to repeal Obamacare without a replacement bill and urging Republicans and Democrats to work together to improve the existing healthcare law.

"The Senate should immediately reject efforts to 'repeal' the current system and replace sometime later," they wrote, noting that the move "could leave millions of Americans without coverage."

The group of governors, the majority of whom are from states that expanded Medicaid under Obamacare, includes five Republicans - John Kasich of Ohio, Charlie Baker of Massachusetts, Larry Hogan of Maryland, Brian Sandoval of Nevada, and Phil Scott of Vermont - five Democrats - Steve Bullock of Montana, John Bel Edwards of Louisiana, John Hickenlooper of Colorado, Tom Wolfe of Pennsylvania, and Terry McAuliffe of Virginia - and one independent, Bill Walker of Alaska.

I lived in Montana for eight years. The great tragedy for the Northern Cheyenne tribes in Montana is it upwards of 80% of the tribe members were either alcoholics active alcoholics or in recovery 80%. It is tragedy. I worked in the construction business with in quite a few of them were of Indian descent or Native American whatever you want to call it and they were very good people and some of them were recovering alcoholics and some were not recovering but they were still damn good Craftsman. Even in Montana I have work for an African American superintendent. It was interesting he had a bachelor's degree in medicine and was two years away from a doctor's degree and MD. He decided he did not want to be a doctor and he went into construction business and was he was a superintendent and he was going to start his own company. If you dare take a look most of the states that are having lack of coverage under Obamacare are Republican led States.

The expansion of Medicaid contributed to millions of people getting coverage that had nothing before. And if you would remember if you can, that before we have even this faulty but working program, most people went for what should have been regular care to the emergency rooms because they didn't have medical coverage. And if they could not afford it, the state or the federal government had to cover the costs. The cost per person was ridiculous. And as a matter of fact in the United States it is still the most expensive per person, compared to all the other major advanced nations and most of them have full coverage.

I don't envy wealth most people actually worked at work to get it. Donald Trump inherited Millions and he lost money on casinos in Atlantic City it's incredible successful businessman that's debatable. Probably one of the reasons he does not want to release his tax reports. But I understand that the investigation is going into the IRS and they will get his tax returns and when it all boils out we will probably see what was going on. If you go back and look at it Trump said he was on being audited okay fine, but he also said when the audit is over he would release the taxes. The Press never held him accountable.

that's bullshit. virtually every state has lost carriers. many are down to one.

and here in NY, where we can never get enough of liberal pipe dreams and failed policies, we have this:

New York State’s biggest hospital system plans to stop selling Obamacare plans, blaming a costly plank of the law and uncertain prospects for a fix amid a wider Washington brawl over health care.

Northwell Health said in a statement that it will wind down its four-year-old CareConnect Insurance Co. business over the next year, after it suffered financial losses linked to a program designed to steady the exchanges where consumers can buy coverage.

The hospital system also said that uncertainty around the fate of the Affordable Care Act had clouded its business prospects, contributing to its decision to pull down the shutters.

“It has become increasingly clear that continuing the CareConnect health plan is financially unsustainable, given the failure of the federal government and Congress to correct regulatory flaws that have destabilized insurance markets and their refusal to honor promises of additional funding,” said Michael J. Dowling, Northwell’s chief executive officer.

Four Mexican bakers became trapped in their bakery for two days in the wake of Hurricane Harvey made hundreds of loaves of bread to give to flood victims.

The way the people assisted each other irregardless of any differences in the recovery and efforts to save people simply amazing. It makes me proud to be an American. I've been through something like this before and the same thing happened in Rapid City in 1972. We took into her people in the first several days in the wake of the huge flood they killed 238 people. We didn't have water for about a month National Guard had big tank trucks down by the Canyon Lake Grade School and we had to go down there and fill up water buckets everyday. We have water for but it wasn't safe later on the side you can boil it if it it still tasted like s*** because it was still the stuff even gone through the process that still didn't get all this bad stuff out of it we didn't drink regular water for at least a month or more. But again back to the Harvey it's simply amazing I am just overwhelmed by the goodness of human beings towards each other in the face of danger.

Exactly the reason why is that the Republicans are so far are unwilling to take a bipartisan approach, or at least the President

Senator John McCain is exactly right. We used to work through these programs in the problems and we did it. Go back to Ronald Reagan and the approach to save Medicare even though he had opposed it when they first put it in place. It rescued Medicare for millions of Americans and reduce the cost and kept thousands of people in good health.

we can do it but people like you are roadblock. Your hatred overwhelmed your ability to think logically and carefully and actually care about other people. I suspect you haven't contributed a f****** penny to the recovery efforts in Texas. Not one red Cent.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I said most. You picked one exclusion. But look at the list Arizona and a bunch of others almost all of them are Republican states including my former state of Montana and South Dakota. They did not expand Medicaid and guess what thousands of Americans don't have decent Insurance because the Republicans that led those States into this stupid idiot logical stand against medical care for everybody. Simply put I'm a single-payer guy and I think we can do that but so many people in the other side just cannot see how well it works if we can do it right and we can we have been the most creative country in the history of the world to get and approached difficult problems with with bipartisan efforts. But right now with Donald Trump in the front lead oh we're in deep s***

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

You are exactly correct my friend. You know as well as I do that if we approach this with the genuine desire not for political reasons but the genuine desire provide decent medical care for every single American however we get to do it we can do this together. We have seen us do this before. I can go back to the Civil Rights and civil and Voting Rights era. Republicans and Democrats not the Dixiecrats but the Republicans and Democrats work together and led by US president from a Southern state and eliminated the racial discrimination that was a stain on the history of this great nation.

Like I said I think a single-payer system is is the most efficient way to get it done but the details are tricky. But I still think that there are some smart people and reasonable people on both sides who can put away the desire to get elected the next time because that's the only thing they want to do and actually fix the things. Some of them may pay political consequences. But it's well worth it from millions of Americans. I agree with you this time and I'm proud to see it.

What happened to that 250000 jobs that the president promised.?

Job growth lagged in August, with the economy adding a lower-than-projected 156,000 jobs and the unemployment rate ticking up slightly to 4.4 percent.

Average hourly wages rose 3 cents last month to $26.39, up 2.5 percent from a year ago — a raise economists call tepid and government officials say "has room for improvement."

The growth missed expectations, as analysts thought federal economists would report approximately 200,000 new jobs in August.

"Growth was slower in August, but that's because there were fewer gains in growing industries, not because we're seeing more losses in shrinking industries," said Jed Kolko, chief economist at Indeed.com. "We're actually at a point of unusual stability."

While the unemployment rate crept up from a 16-year-low, the increase is still within the margin of error

I inherited some wealth from my loving parents. It came at time that allowed my wife and I to buy land with cash, build our home with cash. W/o that debt. My wife and I bought more unincumbered pieces of land. We fully funded our retirements and our two kids college funds. We rarely go on vacation, nor do we buy new cars or trucks. My farm truck is 23 years old w/ 145 K MILES. MY WIFE DRIVES a newer truck.

Cali,CS and Ette, on this thread HB and Damaged Opie admitted they will not pass any legecy money to their children. So self-centered, so sad!!

wphamilton said...

, hb and broken opie all agreed that good looking women are drawn to cash

Nobody said that ... except the author of this statement.

There's always somebody willing to debase themselves for cash. Obviously that's not a general statement about "good looking women" or anyone else.

In my particular case, I spoke only of losers who let their money talk, to acquire trophy wives. That someone (like KD) would call that degrading yet refuse to speak out against the persons responsible is unfathomable.

So how is it that "I" got a girl who:

has more money and income than me
is better looking than me (former model)
and fifteen years younger than I am?

So how is it that "I" got a girl who: ...

Ask KD, he's the one generalizing from trophy wives to all good looking women. So, CH, if you're asking me are you generalizing from good looking illegals to all good looking women?

So, you're saying women who marry rich, older men are what?

You tell me. From this "Money makes it possible, while also tending to warp a person enough to want a trophy wife" is that saying ANYTHING about the woman? No ...if anything I agreed that "gold digging is a right for good looking illegals"

As a matter of fact, if the woman gets what she wanted I've got nothing derogatory to say about her. If the old guy's money made her legal, or the same as legal, and that's what she wanted then "well done."

But a man who offers nothing more than his wealth to induce a woman to act as his wife, especially if he exploits her legal status as a means, I do find that pathetic. I don't care that he has the legal "right" to enter into a marriage contract with whomever he pleases, I personally feel repugnance and pity at the idea of acquiring a "wife" through money or influence, as an object for social appearances or status, without having the bond, the equality of partners, the love if you will.

Even the rueful get lucky once in a while......a union made in heaven if you ask me. Oh, you are an atheist, so that is probably not how it happened.

That someone (like KD) would call that degrading yet refuse to speak out against the persons responsible is unfathomable.

Because he, like CH,think trump is a god who does nothing wrong and would never question what he does. What I find amusing is how this topic has exploded. Amazing how a such a servile subject brings out the worst in our intellectual leaders....

wphamilton said...

They are an exception, where I am repulsed by the motivations of both parties of the arrangement. I believe that they entered into a compact of mockery of American ideals of marriage and partnership, for the sole purpose of appearance to project a facsimile of a healthy family, and I cannot abide the hypocrisy.

I could always be wrong about them, early on, but chances are I'm not.

Do you know what a gapping asshole looks like???? Look in the mirror and see for your self.....No one said that or admitted that. And just as an aside...it is none of your fucking business, you are just like the nosy cunt that posts here.

wphamilton said...

I inherited nothing, because I like my parents before me will not debase the memory of our forbears by fighting over their possessions.

I don't understand the bragging about finances and retirement and investments. I've come back more than once from nothing, and while I've had help it wasn't from men or money. The measure of success is how you play your hand, whether or not you've got the high cards. If there is one thing that I wish Trump could learn, that would be it.

Fatty you're the one that brags that reason you are here is to troll.

So, that is your MO also asshole, except you are too stupid to know it.....Your obsession with food is not my problem, it is yours...don't you get enough food stamp handouts to feed your dysfunctional tribe? I hear you can get free cheese in Atlanta.....Still living rent free pauline.

I got a lot of wisdom from my dad. You cannot get better than that...He taught me to save, encouraged my higher education and advised work for a big company that has a retirement plan.....sage advice that I am thankful for. Had a very rewarding career building airplanes and electronic equipment for the war fighter.l Many of the products I worked on will be used for years to come. Insurance sales is just a waste of time selling a non-differentiated product....Boring!!!!!

There is no fence. That's just an imaginary line, drawn for you by those who profit from dividing people. Snap out of it.

I kinda find this speculation and judgemental attitude about the motives of two people marrying to be rather offensive.

It is their business and their business alone. And they are the only ones who have to face the results of their decision.

wphamilton said...

You could say the same for any hypocritical behavior. It's their business, they're the ones to face the consequences. Judgmental attitude about the hypocrisy is offensive. But I bet you don't.

Commonsense said...

There is nothing hypocritical about how two people decide to marry. How they decide is their business alone.

The only hypocrisy here are with those who judge them.

And it is quite offensive.

wphamilton said...

So you think that the Clinton's fake marriage, pretending to have a caring commitment in holy matrimony to hoodwink voters into thinking they share their values, is fine and dandy and just their own business.

It's all cultural relativity, is that it? Liberal pansy.

Indy Voter said...

Do you really think the Clinton's marriage was fake? Hillary chose to move to Arkansas, where they had a kid, and they worked together to further his political ambitions and improve their finances. That's pretty much what married couples do (minus the political ambitions).

With the publicized infidelities, and Bill achieving his political goals, it may have become somewhat of a sham marriage, but I still don't see it as "fake". Bill supported her political ambitions instead of the other way around, and the two were still working together to further improve their finances.

wphamilton said...

She moved to Arkansas after failing the DC Bar exam, and I believe that their union was an alliance and nothing more.
