Scientific Evidence Suggests?

Men to be allowed to compete as women in 2018 Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed that it would allow transgender athletes to compete in whatever category they wish to participate in during the 2018 Winter Olympics, a report says.
IOC officials noted that they will not require athletes to compete in categories that match their birth gender nor will there be any gender or sex testing of competitors ahead of the games, Daily Caller reported.
As The New York Times wrote last year, “…the arbitration panel noted, science has not conclusively shown that elevated testosterone provides women with more of a significant competitive edge than factors like nutrition, access to coaching and training facilities, and other genetic and biological variations.”

So the New York Times is peddling "science" that shows no conclusive proof that athletes with elevated testosterone levels (aka: men) will provide any significant advantage competing against athletes who do not have elevated testosterone levels (aka: women).

At least no more than general nutrition, coaching, and training will provide?

Which, apparently means... that "science" suggests that women who eat right, listen to their coaches, and are willing to put in the time to train... will be able to physically compete against men.

Warning: Arguing differently will get you fired from Google.

So this video used to be considered funny

"science has not conclusively shown that elevated testosterone provides women with more of a significant competitive edge than factors like (whatever)"

Well since "women" is now a matter of personal choice instead of biology, it's not clear what group "science" would be looking at to show this.

But as you note, it's pretty obvious to "science" or anyone else that male athletes have higher performance than females at the elite levels. Whether that's due partially or solely to testosterone is largely irrelevant to the question. Therefore one wonders if the IOC has accepted a redefined meaning of "science" in addition to the redefined "gender". Perhaps prefacing both terms with "political", as in "political science" and "political gender" makes sense out the IOC statement.

On the side, are we to assume that testosterone boosters are no longer prohibited as performance enhancing drugs? Are you sure that this isn't some Trump-inspired fake news?

On the evening of Sept. 11, 2012, intruders attacked the diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. They fired machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. Buildings there burned. By the following day, four Americans had died, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Now, almost five years after that deadly episode, one man accused in the attack is preparing for trial in Washington, D.C.

Ahmed Abu Khatallah, a 46-year-old auto mechanic who spent years in Libyan prisons after opposing the Moammar Gadhafi regime, has pleaded not guilty to murder and terrorism charges that could send him away for the rest of his life.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi appeared confused in an interview this week about what kind of speech is protected by the U.S. Constitution.

“The Constitution does not say that a person can shout…yell ‘wolf’ in a crowded theater.

Hey cht, when are your two senators going to stop blocking the Stras nomination?

Wow, and I thought this little slice of heaven couldn't get more inane. Thanx for proving me wrong.

balls - perhaps when McConnell does away with the blue slip "tradition".

Franken and Klobuchar are dangerously close to pushing this over the edge by blocking Stras (almost everyone believes he deserves the nomination) for alternative reasons (they want a say in who Trump nominates for other positions).

They sure make a compelling case why stras is unfit... So much for CH almost everyone believes he deserves nomination. I love it when Ch makes claims like that.

We respect an independent, fair-minded judiciary. But the record of Justice David Stras of the Minnesota Supreme Court indicates he would be neither independent nor fair-minded if confirmed to the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (“The case for David Stras’ federal court nomination,” June 4). Stras is clearly in the mold of an ultra-right-wing conservative, and his nomination by President Trump must be blocked.

It is shocking and far out of step with Minnesotans’ values that Stras once lamented in a law review article that the U.S. Supreme Court has ventured “into contentious areas of social policy — such as school integration, abortion, and homosexual rights.”

We are approaching the third decade of the 21st century. It can only be described as profoundly disturbing that Stras would label school integration “contentious” more than 50 years after Brown vs. Board of Education and that he implies the high court should not venture into ensuring rights for women and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans.

Sure seems out of step even for the biased CH....

That is what you consider "in step"... ha!!!!

Here is a piece by both liberal and conservative law professors.

He also has the support of past liberal justices like Alan Page, and many others. In fact, no current or former Justices in Minnesota has come out against his nomination, while many have come out in favor.

Lastly, he had to actually "run for election" here in Minnesota, and won his election quite handily, even in blue state Minnesota.

today's liberals are nothing more than child abusers. every fucking one of them.

That is much my own feeling.

Any pediatric physician using puberty suppression therapy to treat transgender identity disorder should have their medical license lifted.

And parent trying to suppress the normal, natural sexual development of their child should be charged with child abuse.

The Strib is "nobody" - I don't read the Strib anymore, and neither do many people.

Moreover they are not exactly legal experts, or part of the legal community. They reflexively oppose everything and anything Trump might do... and simply look for an excuse to justify it after the fact.
