Oh, that's right... only "liberal voices" should be protected?
BTW... these anthem demonstrations today (regardless what direction they took) are a no win situation for the NFL. There is not a single person who currently does not watch the NFL, who will start watching the NFL because of these anthem antics... not one.
But they will continue to dilute their actual viewership by continuing to drag more and more politics into their sport. People watch to "get away" from that crap... not to deal with more of it.

Glad they did, but that's BS
If he didn't score, he didn't score... and it certainly appeared that he was down short of the goal-line.
Besides, that was a completely bullshit defensive holding call on the interception. So it probably shouldn't have mattered. Only reason I saw it was because it was on my DVR at the end of the Vikings game.
In a week I used to watch three Sunday gsmes, Monday and Thursday. Now I watch one, the KC Chiefs.
The blown call in the Denver donkeys vs Bills, where the 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty was called when the defender, extended to help the Bills QB up and then withdrew his hand, the defender and Bills QB found the moment funny, the refund did not, changed the course of the gme.
take away the NFL's tax exempt status and watch how quickly they capitulate on the anthem protest issue.
Yep.
Obama weaponized The IRS. So doing the same to the nfl will have the full support of the left.

The President of the United States, spent most of the weekend, defending his behavior in regards to the players in the NFL and the NBA.
While at the same time, the North Korean foreign minister at the UN, said that a nuclear strike against the mainland of the United States "is inevitable".
A law addressing one sixth of the economy hangs in balance.
We are facing the most dangerous issue since the Cuban missile crisis. He doesn't address this incredibly dangerous situation in a Presidential manner. He used childish insults and tweets on this issue. How in hell, can anyone justify his comments? He sent out cabinet members to appear on the Sunday network talk shows, in an attempt to justify his comments on the "son's of bitches" comments.
His speech in Alabama was not a Presidential speech, designed to unite the country behind himself and address this incredibly dangerous situation. It was like that as if JFK, had gone swimming in the White House pool with a couple congressmen and attractive women. Or if President Barack Hussein Obama, went golfing. The right wing websites, blogs, and media would have gone ballistic. They did not.
He understands that no matter what he says or does, that his defenders would come out and support him, no matter what. Our country has been able to handle extremely difficult and dangerous situations, and the President, in most cases, reached out to unite the country behind the majority of Americans. This President is either unwilling or unable to be President of the entire population of the United States. His speech was "red meat" for his base.
That speech led to dozen of any players and owners to speak out against Trump, including Kraft, who is considered an ally of Trump and even gave him a Super Bowl LI ring.
The owner of this New England Patriots, Robert Kraft.
"I am deeply disappointed by the tone of the comments made by the President on Friday," a statement by Kraft read. "I am proud to be associated with so many players who make such tremendous contributions in positively impacting our communities. Their efforts, both on and off the field, help bring people together and make our community stronger. There is no greater unifier in this country than sports, and unfortunately, nothing more divisive than politics. I think our political leaders could learn a lot from the lessons of teamwork and the importance of working together toward a common goal. Our players are intelligent, thoughtful and care deeply about our community and I support their right to peacefully affect social change and raise awareness in a manner that they feel is most impactful."

The Divider In Chief
New York Times: “Over the course of just 17 hours this weekend, President Trump assailed John McCain, Chuck Schumer, Stephen Curry, the National Football League, Roger Goodell, Iran and Kim Jong-un — the ‘Little Rocket Man.’ And that was on his day off. … While he has restrained himself for brief stretches, his penchant for punching eventually reasserts itself. Never in modern times has an occupant of the Oval Office seemed to reject so thoroughly the nostrum that a president’s duty is to bring the country together. Relentlessly pugnacious, energized by a fight, unwilling to let any slight go unanswered, Mr. Trump has made himself America’s apostle of anger, its deacon of divisiveness.
“In his brief career as president and a candidate for president, Mr. Trump has attacked virtually every major institution in American life: Congress, the courts, Democrats, Republicans, the news media, the Justice Department, Hollywood, the military, NATO, the intelligence agencies, the cast of ‘Hamilton,’ the cast of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ the pope and now professional sports. He has attacked the Trump administration itself, or at least selected parts of it (see Sessions, Jeff), and even the United States of America (‘you think our country’s so innocent?’).”

The NFL is just clueless.
Kaepernick and Curry Pop the Sports Bubble
The NBA and UnderArmour—the athletic clothing manufacturer that made Curry the highly paid face of the brand in a 2015 deal that will earn the player well over $100 million—should worry that Curry will do for basketball what Colin Kaepernick and his comrades have done for football.
As a result of similarly ill-conceived public protests, the bloom seems to be coming off the NFL’s rose as football ratings continue the downward slide that began last season. According to CNN, “NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ in the first two weeks of the regular season is down 7% in viewership compared to last year; ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Football,’ is down 5%; and the averages of Sunday afternoon games on Fox and CBS are down 11% and 19% respectively, according to Nielsen data.”
To underscore the point, when 49ers hosted the Los Angeles Rams Thursday night, half the seats were empty.
Several new studies prove what we already suspected: Fans are leaving the NFL because of the players’ political activism that disrespects our country, its heritage, and its people. Sports executives such as CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus get it, too, but they’re caught in a crossfire that is only partly of their own making.
If they take a public stand against the anthem protesters, the backlash from the Left would be swift and vicious. If they do nothing and allow the protests to run roughshod over the sensibilities of their customers the verdict of fans will be slower but more costly. Wall Street analysts are worried, forecasting losses of $200 million from just a 10 percent shortfall in expectations this year.

Sen. Ted Cruz on Sunday said he doesn’t support the latest Obamacare repeal plan, dealing a fresh blow to Republicans’ last-ditch effort to kill Barack Obama’s signature health care law.
After seven years of promises to repeal Obamacare, Republicans have six days to pass legislation with a party-line vote. But with Cruz’s opposition, at least five Republicans in the 52-member caucus have signaled that they either won’t vote for or are leaning against supporting the Graham-Cassidy bill.
The legislation, authored by Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, would block-grant federal health care funding to the states.
Graham expressed optimism Sunday that Republicans will pass the bill this week, even after Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky and John McCain of Arizona have said they will vote “no.”
The bill, however, faces two obstacles aside from Paul and McCain: time and math. Saturday is the last day Senate Republicans can use the reconciliation budget tactic to pass repeal legislation with a simple majority, rather than the usual 60 votes, and they don’t appear to have the votes.
“Right now, they don’t have my vote,” Cruz said during a panel discussion at the Texas Tribune festival in Austin that also included Sen. John Cornyn. “And I don’t think they have Mike Lee’s vote, either.”

Not only is the revenue an increasing problem, but you just pissed off the very politicians who usually come to your financial aid.
I have personally always been in favor of new stadiums, as I felt that professional sports teams were an asset to the community. But this new aged political "race baiting" bullshit has changed my mind. The new stadium is beautiful, but it's the last one that Minnesotans will pay for.
The NFL and NBA could learn from the NHL, where they actually have multi-cultural teams. The Wild team has players from six different countries playing for them. They still respect whatever anthem (American or Canadian) is being played. The Penguins just made it a point to announce that they "will" be accepting the invitation of the President to visit the White House as a team.
The President is not wrong.

White House Aide Struggles To Defend GOP Bill's Pre-Existing Conditions Loophole
HuffPost Daniel Marans,HuffPost 15 hours ago
A top Trump administration official ended up conceding on Sunday that individuals with pre-existing medical conditions might end up with higher premiums under the latest effort by Senate Republicans to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
On “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace pressed White House director of legislative affairs about a provision in the GOP repeal bill that would allow states to seek a waiver from rules barring insurers from charging people with pre-existing conditions higher premiums.
Short defended the provision ― referred to by Wallace as a “loophole” ― by saying Republicans do not want “Washington, D.C., choosing all the rates across the nation for all sorts of factors.”
The health care bill, proposed by Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, has been enthusiastically embraced by President Donald Trump but appears to face long odds of passing.
Please pass it!!!!!!!

I don't get bleeding 10 seconds off the clock, when a team is at the goal with 8 seconds to play
That's the rule... I guess it's sort of like the fumble deal. Perhaps you can come up with a rule that states that the ref should just (when in doubt) spot the ball, so that a team can get the next play off (just in case). Sort of like hitting a provisional golf ball from the Tee if you are worried you hit your first one out of bounds. And then review the previous play after the last play?
But how often does this sort of thing happen?
Also, as much as these teams claim that they practice all of this... to get everyone completely lined up correctly, and snap the ball with the intentions of getting another play off (you can't spike it because it was fourth down)... is not a clear cut situation. Since they snapped the ball from the 1 yard line, and was throwing a slant, I doubt very seriously whether they believed that they would come up short...
and taking a sack at that point, would be akin to the game being over, because there is no way a quarterback gets out of the pile, and the linemen all get lined up in (what would have been less than 8 seconds). Official rules say that in the last two minutes, the clock is not stopped for a sack.
I doubt they even had another play called.
Idiot....no city or town should fund stadiums for privately owned teams that the normal person cannot afford to attend....Screw them....
Ahhh... but they do and they have and they still expect to.
They generally get it with the support of GOP politicians and these deals are generally quite complicated, and quite fragile. This "probably" puts an end to public funding.
By this... I mean the politicizing of the game, the drop in ratings, and the growing disconnect between the community and players.
One of the largest cheers that happened on Sunday was when that "one" Pittsburgh player came out and stood for the National Anthem. Football fans respect that sort of message.
The President has been very busy today on Twitter.
He understands that no matter what he says or does, that his defenders would come out and support him, no matter what.
And it is proven here.
He was tweeting at 10:30 PM and again at 6:30AM.
I hesitate to use the term irrational, but more and more it is apparent.
What's irrational is someone who is not a fan of a person... lurking around on their twitter feed, looking for something to criticize.
It would be akin to watching "Keeping up with the Kardashians" week after week, only so you can criticize how dumb you think the program is.
The players are not disrespectful to the country. They are deeply concerned about the President and where he is taking the country. They are absolutely correct to express their opinions on the President.
I watched a couple games yesterday. I didn't see a single fan get up and leave his seat. It will be interesting when the ratings come out.
Ahhh... but they do and they have and they still expect to.
Such a cogent and inane remark CH....It is taxpayer funded welfare for the rich and famous.....another parasite class that will also get the lions share of tax breaks. Sad you think that is okay while baking a wedding cake is immoral for believers....which you are not,,,,
Los Angeles has not been funding the constitution of arenas or stadiums.
Staples Center was built by private sector companies. The new football stadium is also being built with private sector money. In both cases, the city and state governments provided only new road and highway access to the facilities.
The players are not disrespectful to the country
The National Anthem and the flag are about our country, our military, and our history. So you disrespect the anthem and the flag, and you disrespect the country.
NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT THE PRESIDENT - unless, of course, someone is an obsessive, compulsive, addictive head case.... then everything can be about the President.
And no... hardworking people are not going to walk out, after they already probably spent hundreds to go to a game. But they certainly may choose to use that money elsewhere next time....
and btw... nice fucking crowd at the L.A. game, huh? I believe we had more people at our last High School homecoming game!
The players are not disrespectful to the country.
Yeah, they are. Not standing for the anthem is a big "fuck you" to the country that made them rich beyond their dreams.
Only a kool-aid drinking leftist would see it any other way.
The rest of the people will respond in kind.

rrb, they have been absolutely clear, is that they love and respect the United States and the defenders and first responders. They DARE in you hollow skull, to disagree with the President and express their opinions by kneeling in mourning for where the President is attempting to lead our country.
Healthy democracies have ample room for politics but leave a larger space for civil society and culture that unites more than divides. With the politicization of the National Football League and the national anthem, the Divided States of America are exhibiting a very unhealthy level of polarization and mistrust.
The progressive forces of identity politics started this poisoning of America’s favorite spectator sport last year by making a hero of Colin Kaepernick for refusing to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” before games. They raised the stakes this year by turning him into a progressive martyr because no team had picked him up to play quarterback after he opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
The NFL is a meritocracy, and maybe coaches and general managers thought he wasn’t good enough for the divisions he might cause in a locker room or among fans. But the left said it was all about race and class.
All of this is cultural catnip for Donald Trump, who pounced on Friday night at a rally and on the weekend on Twitter with his familiar combination of gut political instinct, rhetorical excess, and ignorance. “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he’s fired. He’s fired,’” Mr. Trump said Friday.
No doubt most Americans agree with Mr. Trump that they don’t want their flag disrespected, especially by millionaire athletes. But Mr. Trump never stops at reasonable, and so he called for kneeling players to be fired or suspended, and if the league didn’t comply for fans to “boycott” the NFL.
He also plunged into the debate over head injuries without a speck of knowledge about the latest brain science, claiming that the NFL was “ruining the game” by trying to stop dangerous physical hits. This is the kind of rant you’d hear in a lousy sports bar.
Mr. Trump has managed to unite the players and owners against him, though several owners supported him for President and donated to his inaugural. The owners were almost obliged to defend their sport, even if their complaints that Mr. Trump was “divisive” ignored the divisive acts by Mr. Kaepernick and his media allies that injected politics into football in the first place.
Americans don’t begrudge athletes their free-speech rights—see the popularity of Charles Barkley —but disrespecting the national anthem puts partisanship above a symbol of nationhood that thousands have died for. Players who chose to kneel shouldn’t be surprised that fans around the country booed them on Sunday. This is the patriotic sentiment that they are helping Mr. Trump exploit for what he no doubt thinks is his own political advantage.
American democracy was healthier when politics at the ballpark was limited to fans booing politicians who threw out the first ball—almost as a bipartisan obligation. This showed a healthy skepticism toward the political class. But now the players want to be politicians and use their fame to lecture other Americans, the parsons of the press corps want to make them moral spokesmen, and the President wants to run against the players.
The losers are the millions of Americans who would rather cheer for their teams on Sunday as a respite from work and the other divisions of American life.

As they say, actions speaks louder than words and their actions speak of hate and disrespect for the United States.
Putting the spotlight on a bunch of multimillionaire spousal abuse criminals amongst other crimes, who refuse to honor our flag can't possibly go wrong for the liberal left can it? Why is the left continuing to divide out country with smaller and smaller slices of the cake (or pie I guess)?
I see the residents of Buffalo are already talking about CHT's point about stadium financing...

The implosion of Germany's Social Democratic Party in today's national elections is the big news from Berlin. With just 20.5% of the vote, a party that governed Germany intermittently since the Second World War has dropped off the political radar. SPD leader Martin Schulz distinguished himself from Chancellor Angela Merkel with one idea, namely fairer income distribution, and the voters shunned him. Merkel will take a fourth term as Federal Chancellor, almost certainly in a coalition with the small free-enterprise party, the Free Democrats, and the Green Party--a so-called "Jamaica Coalition" after the colors of the island's flag (Black for the Christian Democrats, Yellow for Free Democrats, and Green).
WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. Sen. John McCain says doctors have given him a "very poor prognosis" as he battles brain cancer.
McCain underwent surgery in July for a brain tumor that was later found to be a form of glioblastoma, the same type of cancer that took the life of his former Senate colleague Edward M. Kennedy in 2009. McCain tells CBS' "60 Minutes" in an interview that aired Sunday night that he thinks about Kennedy a lot. He says Kennedy continued to work despite the diagnosis and "never gave up because he loved the engagement."
McCain says he has "feelings sometimes of fear of what happens," but counters that with gratitude for having lived "had a great life."
He adds: "it's not that you're leaving, it's that you — that you stayed."
Trump Stumps Against ‘Ray’ Moore
President Trump called into Alabama radio hosts “Rick and Bubba” this morning and warned that “Ray” Moore would open the state’s U.S. Senate seat to Democrats, the Birmingham News reports.
Said Trump: “Luther Strange is going to be a great Senator. He loves Alabama, he loves the state and he loves the country. He will absolutely win against the Democrat. Ray will have a hard time. If Luther wins, the Democrats will hardly fight. If Ray wins (Democrats) will pour in $30 million.”
When host Rick Burgess clarified that Moore’s first name was Roy and not Ray, Trump came back with, "it’s not a good sign” when the president doesn’t know your name.

As stated earlier.
There is literally nothing to gain by holding these sorts of protests. Nobody is going to start watching the NFL, nobody is going to go out and purchase a ticket, and no Democratic Politician is suddenly going to want to fund millionaires and billionaires with public funding.
But many fans in many stadiums booed the players. Ratings suggest that people are staying away already, and this will cause more to stop watching, more to stop buying tickets, and ultimately it will lose them the political support of the very politicians who had been helping them all along.
Ty.
I know I am watching far less. I normally she'll out a nice $600-700 to book a motel, meals, ticket to see a KC Chief game with my son, not this year.

Cruz Is Still Opposed to GOP Health Care Bill

rrb, they have been absolutely clear, is that they love and respect the United States and the defenders and first responders. They DARE in you hollow skull, to disagree with the President and express their opinions by kneeling in mourning for where the President is attempting to lead our country.

huh.
ok, so what you're telling me is that these protesting players are a bunch of fucking morons, because kneeling during the national anthem is an affront to our nation, not donald trump.
our anthem, and everything that goes along with it - flying the flag, jet flyovers, etc, are a celebration of our nation, our freedom, our liberty. our national anthem has been performed long BEFORE trump was elected president, and will be performed long after.
only a complete fucking idiot would choose the ceremony of performing our national anthem and saluting our flag, and try to use it to insult a man.
of course, we're talking about NFL players here, some of which fell for the "hands up, don't shoot" and "i can't breathe" bullshit lies.
And the same ignorant and hate filled jackass is given the right to post insults on the formerly legacy blog and keep them on top, no matter what it shows, like the picture of his fat ass.
Adios amigo mother fucking idiot. Yes, a well deserved insult.
