Senator Franken Bombshell?
Or just something the MSM will ignore?

Update: Apparently it's a bombshell!

Now some might suggest  that this was all a "joke" - because Franken is such a funny guy. Some might even say that the picture only shows him grabbing armor (not her actual breasts). But certainly the "joke" itself is degrading. Degrading was sort of the point.

But along with the other allegations this woman is making, it seems like the combination is pretty hard to discount.

He repeated that actors really need to rehearse everything and that we must practice the kiss. I said ‘OK’ so he would stop badgering me. We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth.
I immediately pushed him away with both of my hands against his chest and told him if he ever did that to me again I wouldn’t be so nice about it the next time
The tour wrapped and on Christmas Eve we began the 36-hour trip home to L.A. After 2 weeks of grueling travel and performing I was exhausted. When our C-17 cargo plane took off from Afghanistan I immediately fell asleep, even though I was still wearing my flak vest and Kevlar helmet.
It wasn’t until I was back in the US and looking through the CD of photos we were given by the photographer that I saw this one:
I couldn’t believe it. He groped me, without my consent, while I was asleep.
I felt violated all over again. Embarrassed. Belittled. Humiliated

UPDATE:  It's become a lead story across the board. Good for the MSM. Even leads the headlines locally in the Star Tribune on line.  Already legal analysts are saying the picture (in and of itself) is considered an act of "sexual humiliation" especially since it was done in front of people and without consent. It could have been prosecuted.

Franken and the Senate have a tough choice to make here. Either they make some sort of public move on this (and fast), or they will look like hypocrites in their quest to block Judge Moore from becoming a Senator (even before his election).

You don't get to forgive one of your own for something that is basically proven and admitted, while simultaneously taking action against an outsider for allegations that are unproven and denied. This logic holds true regardless of how you view the seriousness of the real and alleged transgressions.

UPDATE II: So McConnell, Schumer, and very oddly Al Franken himself, are all calling for a Senate Ethics Probe of the situation. I am curious as to what exactly there is to "probe" considering Franken is basically admitting to most of the allegations, and there is visual proof of said actions to back up his admissions.

It would appear that this is a chance for the Senate leadership to push things off for a few days, likely hoping the buzz will die before they are forced to make any real decisions.

All of that being said, it certainly puts them in a precarious situation if they continue to "attack" Judge Moore as if he is guilty without a chance to even prove innocence.  Hard to reconcile that behavior when they refuse to accept the "guilty plea" from a sitting member of the Senate.

Looking Forward: Since we know this event is pretty much true, and sexual predators generally are not one and done... it's almost inevitable that there will be "more" allegations coming out against Franken. Hard to imagine this would be the only time in Franken's life he behaved this way?

In this particular case, Franken was not alone with her and was aware of a camera person present and was apparently doing a bad joke, looking at the camera.

That's unfortunate, and truly a bad joke, but not exactly like coming on to someone in private in an inappropriate way which would be far more threatening.

This is a bird in hand. Documented proof of a man (in front of other people) humiliated a woman (on camera) while she was asleep. He admits that the picture is real and that he did it. Already some legal analysts are saying it could have been prosecuted. Not to mention the other "allegations" that Franken is disputing.

vs

two in the bush: Regardless of what specifically Judge Moore is accused of, there is no smoking gun evidence (short of the year book signature being validated) and the Judge is denying it ever happened.

Franken did it.
Moore stands accused.

What do you do, Roger? I say Franken resigns. Doesn't harm anything for you. Governor Dayton is a Liberal Democrat. He will appoint a Replacement Democrat. Preferably one who doesn't find it funny to sexually humiliate women while they sleep. Meanwhile Minnesota rids itself of an embarrassment. He can crawl on back to Hollywood, where he came from.

franken can survive this if he wants too. now we get to see if the guy has any honor. i say he doesn't' and he serves out his term. probably get's re-elected.

Compare this to Moore

Here is Franken's statement in full:

"The first thing I want to do is apologize: to Leeann, to everyone else who was part of that tour, to everyone who has worked for me, to everyone I represent, and to everyone who counts on me to be an ally and supporter and champion of women. There's more I want to say, but the first and most important thing—and if it's the only thing you care to hear, that's fine—is: I'm sorry.

"I respect women. I don't respect men who don't. And the fact that my own actions have given people a good reason to doubt that makes me feel ashamed.

"But I want to say something else, too. Over the last few months, all of us—including and especially men who respect women—have been forced to take a good, hard look at our own actions and think (perhaps, shamefully, for the first time) about how those actions have affected women.

"For instance, that picture. I don't know what was in my head when I took that picture, and it doesn't matter. There's no excuse. I look at it now and I feel disgusted with myself. It isn't funny. It's completely inappropriate. It's obvious how Leeann would feel violated by that picture. And, what's more, I can see how millions of other women would feel violated by it—women who have had similar experiences in their own lives, women who fear having those experiences, women who look up to me, women who have counted on me.

"Coming from the world of comedy, I've told and written a lot of jokes that I once thought were funny but later came to realize were just plain offensive. But the intentions behind my actions aren't the point at all. It's the impact these jokes had on others that matters. And I'm sorry it's taken me so long to come to terms with that.

"While I don't remember the rehearsal for the skit as Leeann does, I understand why we need to listen to and believe women's experiences.

"I am asking that an ethics investigation be undertaken, and I will gladly cooperate.

"And the truth is, what people think of me in light of this is far less important than what people think of women who continue to come forward to tell their stories. They deserve to be heard, and believed. And they deserve to know that I am their ally and supporter. I have let them down and am committed to making it up to them."

“I made a statement about the budget numbers, Franken challenged me, I challenged him back. It was about spending priorities, actually just a mundane discussion. But he obsessed over it.”

After the show, Morgan said Franken wouldn’t leave her alone, insisting on continuing the argument.

“He approached me backstage, angrily called me out on those numbers and insisted he would prove he was right. He wouldn’t leave me alone, he kept following me. As a woman, his presence and proximity to me felt very threatening and intimidating.

“I didn’t realize his creepy behavior after the show meant it would continue in the days to come.

“He approached Carol, the show’s producer and demanded my home phone number, which was a clear violation of network protocol. I had thought that was the end of the story and was shocked when he started calling my home, badgering me repeatedly.

“I became fearful and called Carol to complain and asked her to tell him to back off. But he made another call after that. I thought that he might end up stalking me at my home in Northern California, it was that bad.

“By the third phone call I was outraged and terrified, as he is really disturbed,” Morgan recounted.

Morgan said Franken finally left her alone, but only after she pushed back and threatened “to call the police and make a report that he was harassing me.”
To this day, she says she is haunted by it: “I never forgot that experience and it informed me of his lack of character and obsessive personality. I believe every word Leann wrote.”

Trump: I moved on her actually. You know she was down on Palm Beach. I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it. I did try and fuck her. She was married.

Unidentified voice: That’s huge news there.

Trump: No, no. Nancy. No this was— And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I took her out furniture– I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.

Bush: Sheesh, your girl’s hot as shit. In the purple.

Trump: Whoa!

Bush: Yes. Yes, the Donald has scored!

Trump: Whoa!

Bush: Whoa, my man!

Unidentified voice: Wait, wait you’ve got to look at me when you get out and be like ... will you give me the thumbs up? You’ve got to put the thumbs up.

[crosstalk]

Trump: Look at you. You are a pussy.

[crosstalk]

Unidentified voice: You’ve got to get the thumbs up. You can’t be too happy, man.

Trump: Alright, you and I will walk down.

[crosstalk]

Trump: Maybe it’s a different one.

Bush: It better not be the publicist. No, it’s her. It’s her.

Trump: Yeah, that’s her, with the gold. I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. I just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.

Unidentified voice: Whatever you want.

Trump: Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.

[crosstalk and chuckling]

Unidentified voice: Yeah those legs, all I can see is the legs.

Trump: Oh, it looks good.

Unidentified voice: Come on, shorty.

Trump: Oh, nice legs, huh?

Bush: Oof, get out of the way, honey. Oh, that’s good legs. Go ahead.

Trump: It’s always good if you don’t fall out of the bus. Like Ford. Gerald Ford, remember?

Bush: Down below. Pull the handle.

Trump: Hello. How are you? Hi.

Arianne Zucker: Hi Mr. Trump. How are you? Pleasure to meet you.

Trump: Nice seeing you. Terrific, terrific. You know Billy Bush?

Bush: Hello, nice to see you. How are you doing, Arianne?

Zucker: I’m doing very well, thank you. [To Trump] Are you ready to be a soap star?

Trump: We’re ready, let’s go. Make me a soap star.

Bush: How about a little hug for the Donald? He just got off the bus.

Zucker: Would you like a little hug, darling?

Trump: Okay, absolutely. Melania said this was okay.

Bush: How about a little hug for the Bushy? I just got off the bus. There we go. Excellent. Well, you’ve got a nice co-star here.

Zucker: Yes. Absolutely.

Donald Trump's Sexual Assault Accusers Demand Justice in the #MeToo Era: 'We Were Forgotten'

The recent accusations of sexual misconduct against a long list of powerful men in Hollywood and other industries have been widely believed — and led to resignations, loss of careers and other fallout.

Meanwhile, some of the women who accused Donald Trump of sexual harassment or assault during the presidential campaign wonder when the president might finally pay a price for what he allegedly did to them.

“Things just seem to fall off of Trump, I’m extremely disappointed,” says Jessica Leeds, 75, who alleges Trump tried to kiss her, fondle her breasts and put his hand up her skirt while on a flight to New York in the early 1980s.

Their stories — like the harrowing one PEOPLE writer Natasha Stoynoff shared of Trump allegedly attacking her in 2005 by pushing her up against a wall at Mar-a- Lago and shoving his tongue down her throat — are backed up in most cases by co-workers, friends or family members.

In the weeks that followed, many women alleged on the record that Trump had touched, grabbed or kissed them without their permission. Over the course of his campaign, more than 10 would come forward.

“I feel this issue has been ‘on hold’ all year, but not forgotten,” says Stoynoff in an email. “It’s been simmering on the stove with the lid on, like a pressure cooker. But now the heat’s on and it’s going to boil and the lid is going to blast off.”

That blast off may come with help from a defamation lawsuit filed by Summer Zervos, a former Apprentice contestant who has alleged Trump began kissing her very aggressively and put his hand on her breast without her consent in 2007.
Zervos filed the suit after Trump repeatedly called his accusers liars. Through her attorney, Gloria Allred, she declined to be interviewed for this story.

Norm Eisen, former chief White House ethics lawyer for President Barack Obama, says the lawsuit is “critically important” because “the president’s alleged offenses against women, of sexual harassment, sexual assault, are very serious, much more serious than many of those that have resulted in people losing their jobs.

“That should get a full and fair examination,” Eisen says, “and at the moment that lawsuit is the best vehicle we have to do that.”

Trump, meanwhile, has called the ongoing legal case against him “totally fake news. It’s just fake. It’s fake. It’s made-up stuff, and it’s disgraceful.”

In a statement to PEOPLE, his attorney Marc Kasowitz says the lawsuit is “based on allegations of events that never occurred.”

Trump himself has also denied all allegations against him, tweeting last year that the accusations are “100% fabricated and made-up charges.” He also called the charges “false allegations and outright lies” while on the campaign trail last fall.

Stoynoff says Trump should apologize and issue a statement saying “that we are not liars.”

“For Trump and his press secretary to continue to push the false agenda that the women are liars and continue to so cavalierly defame private citizens is outrageous and improper.”

Florida resident Melinda McGillivray, 38, tells PEOPLE that Trump gave her rear end “a grab” while she was helping a photographer friend at an event at Mar-a-Lago in 2003.
During this last year, she says, “I feel like we were forgotten about and there was no justice, but I do feel he will have his day in court.”

She is also “appalled” that a growing numbers of Republicans seem to believe the women accusing Roy Moore but don’t appear to believe Trump’s accusers — or are simply ignoring their claims.

“It’s disturbing,” McGillivray says in a text, “that many of Trump’s diehard supporters are so stubborn that they can’t seem to come to terms with the reality that their president is just as guilty as Roy Moore.”

A Wave Is Coming

Amy Walter: “In 2016 we made the mistake of rationalizing away the prospect of a Trump victory. He was too unorthodox. He couldn’t possibly sustain momentum through the grueling primary campaign. We should not make same mistake in 2018. Sure, a lot can change between now and next November. And, Democrats have a narrow path to 24 seats – even with a big wave or tailwind. But, do not ignore what’s right in front of us. A wave is building. If I were a Republican running for Congress, I’d be taking that more seriously than ever.”

Then there is that the Washington Post hired a handwritten analyst to review the year book writing. His review isn't a total yes or no, but with the exception of the ability to verify that the ink was available in 1977.

This is, Songer said, is why it’s hard to dismiss the inscription as invalid simply on the basis of the two sets of “77’s.”

“If you’re comparing just the number ‘7’ the question becomes: Out of the, what, 7 billion people in the world can that be replicated? And the answer is: Yes,” Songer said, making the point that it’s hard to identify a writer simply by how a seven is written. “You can only make a ‘7’ so many ways — or a ‘1’ or a ‘2’. If there were some kind of unique feature that was added to that number and it’s repeated, and it’s unique, possibly.”

“Just comparing numbers on its own merits?” he continued. “It’s very dangerous for someone to say, ‘Yeah, just based on that, that they’re different, therefore different writer.’ I would never go to that level.”

Moore’s attorneys have asked to review the yearbook itself. There’s good reason for this, Songer said.

“As a handwriting expert, we always want to look at the original vs. a photocopy because with the originals we can microscopically examine it,” he said. “Look at the line quality and determine what kind of instrument was used: Was it a ballpoint pen? Was it a gel pen? In 1977, did they have this writing instrument available at the time?” The ink itself could be tested to see if it was an ink that was available in 1977.

That said, Songer didn’t know that Moore’s team necessarily needed the yearbook.

“The quality of this copy?” Songer said, “I think they could come to a qualified opinion.”

Moore is a pedophile. The host has been writing that he doesn't believe that these accusations because they are a product of the Fake News. He has lost his open minded evaluation, because he's decided that the free press is dangerous to the President and his agenda.

Of course you do. Without the original you can't validate one way or the other.

And until they are willing to turnover the yearbook for independent forensic examination their story should be suspect.

In my former work environment, we had a lot of women in a construction division of a very large health care company. I know some of them had to put up with some verbal abuse. But if it was brought to the attention of the management, the men were told to get their tools and were handed their last check.

Obviously I didn't do that in my 17 years. And yes, there were some very attractive women worked there.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

They should release the original, to remove all doubt.

Senior White House adviser and son-in-law to the president, Jared Kushner, failed to hand over to Senate investigators emails concerning contacts with WikiLeaks and a "Russian backdoor overture," according to a letter sent by two senior lawmakers.

The letter, released Thursday by Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and its ranking Democrat, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, says Kushner failed to turn over "September 2016 email communications to Mr. Kushner concerning WikiLeaks" and other emails pertaining to a "Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite."

The lawmakers said they were seeking the documents that were "known to exist" from other witnesses in the investigation.

"We appreciate your voluntary cooperation with the committee's investigation, but the production appears to have been incomplete," the letter, sent to Kushner's attorney, Abbe Lowell, said. "It appears your search may have overlooked several documents."

Those overlooked documents also included unspecified phone records, according to The New York Times.

In a statement on Thursday, Lowell said he and his client had provided the committee "with all relevant documents that had to do with Mr. Kushner's calls, contacts or meetings with Russians during the campaign and transition, which was the request."

"We also informed the committee we will be open to responding to any additional requests and that we will continue to work with White House Counsel for any responsive documents from after the inauguration," Lowell said.

The WikiLeaks emails from September 2016 would coincide with Twitter messages exchanged between the radical transparency organization and Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son. U.S. officials believe that WikiLeaks acted as a conduit for emails from the Democratic National Committee and senior Democratic officials that were hacked by Russia.

The Trump administration has repeatedly denied collusion with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 elections. And less than a month before the election, then-candidate Mike Pence, during an interview on Fox News, specifically denied any contacts between WikiLeaks and the campaign.

The revelation of undisclosed emails comes on the same day that The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reports that special counsel Robert Mueller issued a subpoena last month "requesting Russia-related documents from more than a dozen top officials."

so?

that hardly cleared him. that just kept him in office, purely a political play. the senate didn't have the balls to bounce his ass out.

the guy still had to cough up his law license and $850,000 to paula jones.

don't hang your hat on the impeachment result, alky. that ain't the half of it and you know it.

The request for those emails is grandstanding for the media. They admittedly already have the email chains in their possession. It's why they know they were missing from Kushner's information.

If the email chain itself was actually incriminating, then the incriminating facts would be leaked to the media... they wouldn't bother to leak that one party turned something over and the other party did not.

But it's fun to watch how easy it is to push old Rog's buttons.
