Trump Derangement Syndrome?

So it was said that George W Bush held and attended six daily intelligence briefings a week. He met with the National Security Adviser as well as the heads of security (CIA, FBI, etc...) depending on who was required for that particular meeting. George HW Bush and Gerald Ford was said to to the same thing (but less regularly), while Carter and Reagan met most every day with their NSA to go over the daily briefing.

Obama was said to have hosted less of these in person daily intelligence briefings as President (much to the criticism of some conservatives). Obama relied mainly on the intelligence briefing document, so that he could read and assess on his own time.  Some suggested it was because Obama was disinterested and probably never bothered to read them.

Donald Trump made the decision to have the in person briefings, as many of our previous Presidents have done. If I was President, I would probably choose the same thing, since people can certainly relate things differently in person as they can in writing. It also provides the ability to have a real time question and answers which you would not get from a paper. National security is obviously one area where you would not want to see any miscommunication.

So how has this decision been greeted by the media? With the mocking that President Trump is too much of a simpleton to read things on his own, and so he needs people to tell him. There have even been quips about how the Heads of security are having to bring big pictures to help him understand. Because, you know, national security is certainly a joking manner.

As my Dad used to say when someone was trying to be funny, but wasn't...
hardy har har.

The truth is that Trump is handling the intelligence briefings exactly like many (if not most) of our past Presidents did. But since it is Trump... well obviously it must be wrong and it must be because he is stupid.

How long before the mentally disabled President fires Director Wray?

FBI Director Chris Wray offered new details on Tuesday that directly contradict the White House’s account of the timeline leading to former White House staff secretary Rob Porter’s departure following allegations of domestic abuse from two of his ex-wives.

Wray told the Senate Intelligence Committee that the FBI completed its background investigation of Porter "in late July." The FBI then responded to requests for follow up information in November, and finally "administratively closed the file in January," Wray said.

The timeline laid out in Wray’s testimony before Congress sharply departs from the narrative offered by the White House last week.

As the allegations of violence came to light — including graphic photos of one ex-wife with facial bruising and a black eye and a haunting description of violence from a second ex-wife —the White House repeatedly claimed the background investigation needed for Porter's security clearance was ongoing as of last week when he resigned.

President Barack Obama plans to replace a "batch" of U.S. Attorneys in the next few weeks and more prosecutors thereafter, according to Attorney General Eric Holder.

"I expect that we’ll have an announcement in the next couple of weeks with regard to our first batch of U.S attorneys," Holder said Thursday during a House Judiciary Committee hearing which stretched out over most of the day due to breaks for members' votes. "One of the things that we didn’t want to do was to disrupt the continuity of the offices and pull people out of positions where we thought there might be a danger that that might have on the continuity--the effectiveness of the offices.But...elections matter--it is our intention to have the U.S. Attorneys that are selected by President Obama in place as quickly as they can."

Of course when Obama did it (as is tradition when parties switch) everything was fine. Trump does it and Roger lists them singularly and is outraged.

If any politician made me as miserable as Trump makes Roger (and quite frankly, WP) I'd turn everything off.

It's turned into a sickness with them.

Eh? I find endless amusement from Trump. But still, I have to call it like I see it. He's overtly, deliberately a blowhard phony and all of you just follow obediently along. Trump himself thought it was funny during the campaign, and so do I. The only thing that would make me "miserable" about it is if I had voted for him.

Right, so weak. Even for you.

Have you heard WP will receive little to no tax cut. That points to one thing.

Anonymous said...

Wp how is it you get either little or no tax cut?

William Hamilton said...

Ever notice that when you post deriding someone, but haven't presented a fact nor even a topical opinion, that when reading it later it always makes you look foolish and emotional?

If that doesn't occur to you, then do you ever read the comments sections on news items and see three or four belligerent types doing nothing but attacking each other? It makes them all look like morons doesn't it? Food for thought.

I notice that a lot. Generally when the person in question is deriding the President, but hasn't presented a fact nor even a topical opinion.

You know like all liberals said he would when they were making the Case for how fair he will be.

Such total BS

"Wp how is it you get either little or no tax cut?"

I'll refer you to my previous answer:

"It probably IS about the same amount (as CH gets), but I discount it because it IS small -relatively speaking - and my premiums went up about 25%. Prescriptions (my wife, I have never needed any) have gone up more. I look 5 years down the road, as you have to at our age, and I don't see these tax cuts as presently structured helping my situation in the long run at all."

100 % of the Democrats voted against any cut tax .

So for five years we pay less, only WP sees it as a negative.

Amazing.

The overall index rose by two points to 106.9, higher than the 105.3 forecast by economists. That brings it close to the all-time record high of 107.5 set in November. Thirty-two percent of respondents say now is a good time to expand, exceeding the highest levels ever measured in the survey that began in 1973.

“Main street is roaring,” said NFIB President Juanita Duggan. “Small business owners are not only reporting better profits, but they’re also ready to grow and expand.”
